Forty two degrees in Boston at four o'clock. Good afternoon. I'm Ben Parker. Here's what's happening after President elected Donald Trump's lawyers failed to put a stop to it. Sentencing today for the man who will be inaugurated as president again in ten days.

Speaker 2

Presidents elect Donald Trump avoids jail time as the judge in his New York hush money case declines to impose any punishment. A stoic Trump appearing by video from Florida for the sentencing in Manhattan Criminal Court, saying it has been a very terrible experience and insisting he did nothing wrong. Judge Van Marshon said the legal protection that Trump will have as president is a factor that overrides all others,

and that was the reason for no punishment. However, Marshawn also said despite those legal protections, one power they do not provide is that they do not erase a jury verdict. Trump takes office on January twentieth as a convicted felon. He is promising to appeal at Manhattan Criminal Court. I'm Julie.

The US Supreme Court debating TikTok's future in the United States as a potential ban is on the horizon. ABC State. Packer has more on what went down today.

The Supreme Court heard arguments Friday over a law that could ban TikTok in the US by January nineteenth, unless it's Chinese Pair and Company Bye Dan Selles at stake. The government calls TikTok a national security risks tied to China's data and content mining TikTok, arguing the ban violates free speech for one hundred and seventy million US users. Ruling expected before the deadline. Dave Packer ADC News.

President elect Trump has asked the court to delay the ban to try to negotiate a resolution. More evacuation orders issued in Los Angeles for a new wildfire, but CBS's Whendy Gellett tells US firefighters are quickly containing that one.

I'm Wendy Jellett in Los Angeles. Pieces of ash are still gently falling here in West Hollywood, even though the closest fire is miles away. The wind is finally still after days of major gusts. President Biden held a briefing on the fires at the White House.

The scope, the scale, and the erratic movements of these fire is truly unprecedent.

Some evacuees are coming to hotels here in West Hollywood. Many have lost everything. Weenty July CBS News, Los Angeles.

Above expectations, employers added two hundred and fifty six thousand workers last month. Economists we're thinking the number would be about one hundred thousand less than that. The unemployment rate kicked down to four point one percent, and the White House is celebrating.

The President in a statement, notes there were more than sixteen point six million jobs over the course of his administration, and his is the only administration in history to have created jobs every single month. Mister Biden adds that although the unemployment rate was above six percent when he came into office, he's leaving with the rate of four point one percent and the lowest average unemployment rate of any

administration in fifty years. The President called it a quote hard font recovery, but said there is still more to do to lower costs. Karen Travers ABC News the White House.

Those good job numbers today got it scared investors who are worried that that the Fed may not do as much rate cutting as they expected in the coming year. The Dow lost almost seven hundred points to day then, ASDAK was down three seventeen in the s and P five hundred off by ninety one points. Have clouds building in as we head into and through the evening overnight tonight, late overnight toward dawn tomorrow. Really we could start to

see a few snowflakes, especially west of Boston. Temperatures in the mid twenties. Tomorrow. It will be cloudy, there will be some snow flurries around, maybe a couple of snow showers, and as that snow falls for much of the day, we may pick up a slippery coating to an inch of snow. Temperature's low thirties. Sky's clear tomorrow night a low of twenty five, and then we're back to about forty or so on Sunday with mostly sunny skies and sunshining clouds on Monday near forty.
