Fair skies over at the City of Boston right now, thirty three degrees, it feels like twenty one at four o'clock. Happy Friday. I'm Nicole Davis. Here's what's happening. It is shaping up to be a great weekend to get out there, do some holiday shopping. If you want to just take a hike whenever's on the agenda for the weekend. Wbz's Emma Friedman has a look at the forecast.

Speaker 4

No weather complaints with regards to snow, but it will be chilly, so bundle up.

Speaker 1

Thank you.

Speaker 3

Other meteorologist Matt Ben says at the warmest it will be about thirty four degrees tomorrow, but there won't be too much wind to blow away those holiday shopping gift bags if you're heading to Snowport or other holiday markets, and it's gonna get a whole lot chillier as the day goes on, dropping down to twenty three degrees. As for the.

At four oh one. Prosecutors in Manhattan, New York, are not preparing their case against the alleged killer of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. In a press conference today, da Alvin Bragg said Luigi Mangioni may end up waving extradition from Pennsylvania.

Speaker 5

Indications are that the defendant may waive, but that waiver is not complete until a court proceeding, which my understanding from court officials in Pennsylvania cannot happen until Tuesday.

Speaker 2

And questions, of course, are swirling around a motive here. Reports today have revealed that Mangioni, this suspect, was not actually ensured by United Healthcare. Over to Europe now at four two, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is hospitalized after a fall. The eighty four year old congresswoman is on an official trip to Luxembourg, marking eighty years since the Battle of the Bulge. Spokespeople for Pelosi have not released details about what happened here or how badly she might

be hurt. A source tells the AP that Pelosi tripped and felled during an event alongside other members of Congress and those mysterious drones spotted over the Tri state area New York, New Jersey. Now lawmakers are calling in the FEDS over this. Here, CBS's Lynda Kenyon.

Speaker 6

In a letter to the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the FAA. Senators are saying these drones are a potential safety and security risk. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy wrote to President Biden saying he has growing concern about reports of these unmanned aircraft systems or UAS's. He said existing laws limit the ability of state and local law enforcement to counter these drones. The drones are reportedly larger than commercially available models and in one instance, prevented a

metevac helicopter from transporting a seriously injured patient. Linda Kenyon, CBS News.

Washington and PbD is now the latest city to come into compliance with the MBTA Communities Act, the Salem News reporting city councilors voted last night eight to two in favor of creating this new zoning district right by Route one fourteen. More than one hundred and thirty new house units will be able to go up with this move, although it's not clear if any actually will be built

in the coming years. For the rest of the evening, it's going to get chili out there, and it's getting down into about the mid twenties on the coast, and if you make your way outside four ninety five into the higher elevations places like the Worcester Hills the Berkshires, you'll be in the upper teens Tonight. Good news is that it will stay nice and clear. We have no stormy activity at all for the weekend, so that's a plus.

For tomorrow, the wind is going to start to die down a bit, plenty of sunshine, and we've got a high near thirty five or so Tomorrow night. Mostly clear and still chilly, with a low near twenty. Cold once again on Sunday, with a mix of sun and clouds and a high in the mid to upper thirties. Could have a storm coming in on Monday. Could start as a wintry mix outside Boston and a little bit warmer

right on the coast. Could have some rain. We're gonna keep an eye on that throughout the weekend right here on WBZ. Temperatures now twenty nine in Nashua, twenty eight in Wound Socket, Rhode Island thirty two at the Cape Cog Canal, and in Boston at four six. It is partly cloudy thirty two degrees and it feels like twenty four on. Now to the north Shore, where some unlikely bird sightings are causing a bit of a stir. We sent wbz's Kendall Bule to investigate.

Speaker 4

After all those two hours of unsuccessful peacock hunting on the Essex Hamilton Line, I stopped in at Essex Pete Ston. There I got not just to slice but stories of peacock sightings from owner Ronatto Nacchio.

Speaker 1

I don't know know who wasn't puff on my car right there?

Speaker 4

Sure? How you know Boddy, the brightly plumebird who's apparently only elusive to me, seems to like cars.

Speaker 1

He's been oliver our cars, the neighbor's cars.

Speaker 4

That's Brian Howe says. The peacock shows up everywhere in his neighborhood and on social media.

Speaker 1

I was on Facebook puffing up here and there no.

Speaker 4

Sightings for me. However, I had to be content with the peacock plushy being sold at the Essex Ship Building Museum, where director Katie Montgomery says it's right at home among the other items reflecting the town's history and culture, and it.

Speaker 2

Turned into a charming piece of local war really quickly.

Speaker 4

From Essex, Kendall Bull Wbezy Boston's News Radio.

Speaker 2

And if you want to see the plushy by the way, we have it up on our Instagram story. You can find us on Instagram at WBZ News Radio. Get ready to shell out more for a major TV streaming service.

Speaker 1

Starting next month, YouTube is once again raising the price of its TV streaming service. YouTube tv surged in popularity with its low cost service, prompting millions to cut the cord on their cable TV packages. When it launched in twenty seventeen, a subscription ran thirty five dollars a month. It jumped to fifty dollars by twenty nineteen, then to seventy three dollars last year, and beginning next month, it

will cost eighty three dollars a month. One critic on X writing congrats to YouTube tv for evolving into the very thing it's swore to destroy, adding the hashtag full circle Now this.

Speaker 2

ABC's Andrew Dimbert with the updates well over us this weekend in the skies. It's going to be a party, and you're going to get a chance to take it all in if you're willing to brave the cold and possibly get up really really early see the Geminen meteor shower is peaking tonight and tomorrow night, and forecasters say we'll see all kinds of shooting stars, dozens of every hour, but we have one celestial issue getting in the way.

The moon is almost full, and while that's beautiful and we like seeing the pretty full moon, it's getting in the way of all the stars and the meteors, So that means you're not going to really see as many as you normally would be able to accept. If you get up super early, right before dawn, you go take a look outside. Forecasters say that will give you a better shot at seeing meteors. The moon is going to

be setting and getting out of the way. If you are now in the loop for news updates throughout the day, listen to WBZ Radio on the iHeartRadio app. I'm Nicole Davis, wb ZE, Boston's news radio
