Episode description

The classic story of justice, heart, and thought, the Trial and Death of Socrates documents the end of the greatest philosopher in history from the eyes of his own student: Plato. In the third episode, we close the Socratic Trilogy that makes the end of Plato's early work, just after the trial and death of Socrates. In 'Crito,' Socrates' good friend, Crito, comes to offer him the chance to leave his prison, a prison which he had been living in for about a month. Religious observances in Athens halted any execution of Socrates' punishment and since the end of his trial Socrates has been caged. While many friends have come to plea him to flee, Plato recounts the last of which, Crito, who arrives the day before his ensured execution. Will Socrates take Crito's offer and leave Athens behind or will honor hold him to death? Find out by listening to 'Crito' by Plato in this episode of 'Text-To-Life.'
