Episode description

Join us today as we talk about organ donation.  We'll talk about the different types of organ donation and important things to consider when either giving or receiving organs.

SHOW NOTES:
Did you know that you can donate most types of organs after cardiac death as well? It depends on each person if they meet criteria to donate this way.

Each state is different, but in Wisconsin, if a person legally indicates they want to be an organ donor and then is brain dead, the family cannot choose to not donate the organs. They have the choice in donation after cardiac death, however. In the circumstance that the family insists they don't want to donate in brain death, it actually has to go through legal channels to prove that the brain dead person's wishes changed between when they signed up for organ donation and the time of brain death.
