Episode 150: Born with two vaginas: Double-up, ugh, ugh... Ugh!
Episode description
Some women have two vaginas; the condition is called 'uterus didelphys'. Uterus didelphys is a congenital condition where you’re born with two uteruses. It’s commonly called a double uterus. It can cause pregnancy complications and painful menstruation. Some people have surgery to treat uterus didelphys, but most cases don’t require treatment. How is uterus didelphys diagnosed? Dr. Oakley & Holly will go over those steps in this episode, like your healthcare provider may diagnose a double uterus during a routine pelvic exam after feeling two cervixes or two vaginas. They’ll likely order additional imaging tests to confirm uterus didelphys. How does it affect you? Apart from the inconvenience of potentially having to deal with two periods, many women with a double uterus have normal sex lives, pregnancies, and deliveries, double-up, ugh, ugh... Ugh! (Like, Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back) Take a moment and imagine the horror of two periods...in one month. Find out more in this episode. Thank you for listening.
