Episode 130: What’s the difference between vaginal moisturizers and lubricants?
Episode description
Let’s start with the fact that vaginal moisturizers and lubricants are not the same thing. Lubricants do not alter vaginal tissues; they just provide a slippery barrier to reduce friction at the time of intercourse. A moisturizer, on the other hand, is intended to change the water content of the cells (hence “moisturizer”), resulting in tissues that are more elastic, thicker, and have the enhanced ability to produce fluid. From breastfeeding to menopause, vaginal dryness can happen at any stage in life. How can you get back to lubricating naturally? What lubricants are best for you and your body? What can your partner do to help? Vaginal moisturizers, lubricants, and vaginal estrogen can be helpful tools for improving sexual wellbeing, but how many of us know how to choose the right ones? We'll be answering these questions and more. Thank you for listening. Please send in your comments, questions and suggestions for future topics at TheLadyBodPod@gmail.com.
