Hello, Jenny Garth. Hi, KJ, how are you? I am just thrilled to be talking with you this morning. I'm going to introduce you to what we have going on here. This is the KJ Today Show. It is the positive place for pop culture, people to know, and pets. And Jenny Garth, the people tuned in that listen along here are known as the kind of nerdy
network. And they're the nicest group of nerds And when they found out you were going to be on today, the love and support that is coming your way this morning, just know that it is amazing and we are thrilled to have you here with us. KJ, that's so nice. I love nerds, first of all, and I love what you're doing. Spreading positivity, can't go wrong. Yes, and that's what you're here to do. We're also excited to hear more about two big projects. So, you know, I'm going to let you start.
Do you want to talk about the clothing line? Do you want to talk about the podcast? Which one? Oh, geez, either one. I'm so excited. You know, it's all kind of under one big umbrella. It started with Kelly Taylor's I Choose Me statement back in the 90s. And I've sort of brought that up today to remind people it's sort of become my mantra and my purpose really to spread that message to everyone.
And I started with the podcast. And as I got to be older, I started to really realize the piece that I found within when I started to prioritize my own physical and mental health. And I really wanted to show others what this experience can look like for me and hopefully they can relate in their own lives to the things that we talk about. So the whole purpose of that is to have beautiful guests that share their stories and we have
some deep, meaningful conversations. So that's the podcast, I Choose Me, it's on iHeartRadio or wherever, you know, you listen to your podcast. Isn't it funny now? It's like, okay, everybody, like we know, like, just go find our podcast, right? We're everywhere. You can figure it out. Let me ask Jenny, before we get to the clothing line, because I'm also super excited about that. You know, the conversation we were having before you were on the show about
that statement, I choose me. I'm just one of many women who were sitting there watching that and remembering how impactful it was to be like, it's not about, I'm not complete with one of you two, I'm complete already. Did you realize when you were delivering that simple statement how it was going to have a lasting impact.
I really didn't. I my beautiful friend Jessica Klein wrote that line, and I don't think either of us realized the impact that it would have on so many young girls at that time and their moms who were listening with them or watching with them. And that's the beauty of something that is rooted in, you know, positive self-love messaging and now being able to reawaken that line and spread it to even more people has become sort of my life's purpose and I couldn't be more
satisfied with that. So I'm very proud of it. Let's talk about in this, you know, this movement of yours and I choose me one of the things that you have chosen. And it's something that I have done as well, Jenny. So I know that it is it is scary and crazy, but incredibly rewarding, rewarding. And that's to become an entrepreneur. especially at this point in our lives and spreading
the message that you can do that. So let's talk about the clothing line and kind of how it feels for you to be in that space where you are creating your own business and creating your own vision. Yes, I did not see, I really did see a big world for iTruthMe in my mind and I set forth at 50, I was asking the questions like, why am I here? What am I supposed to do next? And I think we all reach that point in our lives. And for me, this just kept coming up. And I come from educators. My parents
were both teachers. I love teaching people. I love helping people. So this was just like it just fell into place in a time when I was looking, I was wondering. And this came to me and everything along the journey since I started two years ago. has had this beautiful synchronicity and I never saw myself starting a fashion brand. I never really had any interest. I was the one that just stood there and let
people dress them for many, many years. And so making this enormous leap into starting a brand at 52 has been so exciting and frightening and you know there's been so many emotions behind it along the way but I really embraced all of those feelings and just kept that energy rolling and pushing it forward and here we are about to launch our brand on QVC of all places. I mean it's just like a dream come true.
So can you give us a little I know it's hard when we're doing this audio thing, but can you give us a little you know description idea on what it was that you wanted to create it when it came to a clothing line that is representing you. Well, me is the name of the clothing brand is called me by Jenny Garth and I really. wanted to empower women and inspire confidence and self-love through these clothes. And, you know, we make 35,000 choices every day.
And maybe this is one less choice you have to make because, you know, if you pick one of one of our pieces, you're going to feel good in it. You're going to feel empowered
and you're going to look amazing. And just taking that One of those decisions that we make out of the equation and having people really feel confident in their own skin, in their clothes, was just the impetus behind everything that we do and also providing women of all body shapes and all lifestyles something that they could feel good when they put on. We have sizes from extra, extra small all the way to 5X and really incredible price points. Like I said, it's all fallen
into place in the most beautiful way. QVC has just really taken my vision and helped me and my daughter, who's co-designing with me, to create this beautiful place, this beautiful company that we're so proud of. Jenny, I am also the kiddie correspondent for Pet Pals TV. So I have to bring up pets because I know that you have talked in the past that you've had quite a menagerie of pets in your life and that they have made
an impact for you. Can you talk a little bit about the crew maybe that you have now and why having pets has been such a great support for you? I could talk all day about pets and their importance in our lives. Um, yeah, I think I literally came out of the womb holding a little white dog in my lap. Like I've always had a little dog in my lap, whether I'm working or at home. Now I have, um, right now we have four dogs and that they're just my, my family. There are family and they are
so important to me every day. Yeah, wow. There's nothing, I couldn't say anything more positive than get a pet. You need a little love, get a pet. And as we are, you know, kind of closing out, I wish we had more time to talk, Jenny, but what is the, if you could give a message right now to a woman who is listening, who, you know, I'm about, I'm about to turn 49. And, you know, my sister just said to me the other day, like, let's, what are we doing
for your 50th? And I'm like, slow down. Like, I want to get, I want to be 49 for a little bit. What is that message that you want in everything that you are doing to share maybe with a woman today who isn't feeling as confident or maybe doesn't know where they're heading at this point in their life? Well, I've been there. I've been in your
exact position. And I know how scary it can feel because we have, as women, given our lives to taking care of others, you know, whether it's children or animals or partners, our community, we're just naturally caretakers and nurturing. And so I really kind of stopped the clock and said, okay, now my kids are older and are at a place where they're kind of leaving the nest. I wanted to focus on
what I needed and what I wanted. And I really just encourage, other women out there to take a minute and just write it down, write it, write down like what your questions are that you're like, what am I doing or what's next or where should I, what should I focus on? And then just let the universe sort of lead you because you know, if you put that question out there, you're going to get the right answer and you just have to listen
for it. And then once you're sure that you've heard it, you take action and every day you just keep moving towards what you want in life next. The podcast is called I Choose Me, and you can find it on all the podcast apps and the clothing line coming out on QVC. Jenny Garth, it's been a joy to talk with you. Thank you so much for being here today. Thanks, KJ, you too.
