welcome to the Kindness Chronicles, where we hope to inject the world with a dose of the. Minnesota nice that it desperately needs. We're, uh, here not far from Swiftyapolis. Oh boy. Oh boy, yeah. We got, uh, the big Taylor Swift concert. I think that's, uh, Friday and Saturday, so this Swifty takeover. I've got a gorg daughter going to each night. Anika, my youngest, is going Friday with...
Uh, one of her girlfriends and then my middle daughter Maddie is going on Saturday and I just got done when they were out of Canterbury for Father's Day this past weekend lecturing Maddie on, you spent 300 on this ticket, which is totally cool for this concert, but you can sell it for like 2, 500 cause she's got, you know, lower bowl. I'm like, just sell it and just go to another concert another time. And she wasn't having it. So anyway, I tried Mario.
Do you know anybody going to the Taylor Swift? I do my well, my oldest sister is going both nights because oh cuz she's crazy You and my dad waited in the queue and they all got tickets So come on and my dad wanted to sell them, but then my sister just wanted to go twice So girl, who's she going with? She's going with my mom tomorrow And my other sister on Saturday. You know, I bet you'll see a few of those middle aged women at the Swifty concert. We call them cougars. Cougars, yes.
Before we get into anything, I first want to address a, uh, situation that was brought to my attention yesterday. Um, Mario, our intern here, is, uh, also a podcaster, and as you might recall, as you might recall, we did the, movies that make you feel good, and I know that you did, I know, no, no, okay, that's a good comeback. I did. What? Did you? Was that your idea? We talked about it before. It was a great idea. We'll give it to him. We'll give it to him. Super Mario came up with the idea.
Super Mario, yeah. He did. But his wasn't about how it makes you feel. It was just your favorite movies. So it wasn't exactly the same. Not exactly. Why don't you tell us the title of the podcast that you just dropped this last week. Okay, so I have a podcast called Top Ten Tuesday where every Tuesday, uh, me and like a guest, we do top ten lists of any category. Oh, I love it. Stealing John's idea. Um, okay. Allegedly we cross pollinate here. This week's was, uh, Songs That Speak To Our Soul.
And this is, the reason why it's this, Cause I, the special guest was my sister, Emma. She has a playlist that she's had for like two years called this. Oh! Oh! And she wanted to do top ten of songs that can be used for films. Emma is, uh, an aspiring, television journalist. And she apparently has an offer from a television station in Rochester, Minnesota. Sweet. So, she's Go to Newt's for one of the best burgers you'll ever have in your life. They have pretty good burgers at Newt's.
No question about it. When we're on Go to Newt's when it comes to top ten burgers. Burgers, food, in general. Let's just, this is a random chatter episode. Your favorite fast food burger, and then your favorite burger joint in the, uh, the Twin Cities. That is a tough question. So I'm gonna, my favorite fast food burger, is Five Guys considered fast food? Hundred percent, yeah. I would say Five Guys, or maybe Culver's. That's my favorite too. Mine's Culver's. Culver's is tough to beat.
I don't like their fries. At all, but I love their double mushroom and Swiss. Oh, it's so good. Very nice. Have you ever gotten a single burger? Like, like just one patty? What is that? I don't, I, you know, it makes no sense to me. What I like about Five Guys is their branding. They're brilliant. When you order, A cheeseburger. It's a double. It's a double. If you order a little cheeseburger, it's a single. So it doesn't make you kind of feel like you're leaning into...
How about when you order a little fry and it comes in this... Cup or cone and that's plenty of fries all by itself And then you open up the bag and there's like just as many fries in the bottom of the bag. It's unbelievable in the bag It's so greasy. Oh, it's just fantastic Fries are the best. Do you have a fast food burger that you uh, um, I know I am NOT a fast food guy No, no, I love that ever had my burger.
Yeah, actually, that's one of my favorites downtown I haven't had in a long time, but it's a different flavor. It's a got their own flavor. I like that I like my burger. There you go, but I like Five Guys Fries. Yes, they're so good. Five Guys Fries are exceptional. Hot take, I don't like Five Guys Fries. Really? You don't? I feel like they're too, just like, greasy for me. They're super salty, but they're, they're, what's your favorite burger, Mario?
Culver's, or I feel like In N Out when you go. Oh, In N Out, yeah. No, but we just don't. No, that's a whole different level. Speaking of French Fries, terrible French Fries. Their fries aren't their strong suit. I would agree, they're okay, but the burgers are remarkable. It's funny when we go out west if we're traveling for work and you like at any hour if you pass a Restaurant in and out there's no less than 15 to 20 cars in the driving line. It's at any hour It's crazy busy good marketing.
Yeah, I remember when Sonic opened on the east side and they had to direct traffic because there was just so much Interest in Sonic. Something new, right? Same with Krispy Kreme, remember that? Krispy Kreme, absolutely. That was nuts. The cops were there. And I didn't get that at all. Like, I'm not a donut guy in general. Come again? I just don't care. Remember at the grab party when I showed up? I'm not a donut guy. a donut. I look like a donut guy, but I'm not a donut guy. I like meat.
And that bacon at the grad party you threw, holy hammer that was heavy. We're going to get to the grad party in just a second, but best burger in town for you? For a restaurant? Yeah. Like a sit down? Oh, man, the 5 8 Club? 5 8's got a good one. I like the double barrel burger at, Red Cow. Pretty good. Oh, I, I, I love Red Cow. I don't think I've had it. Oh, it's, that, that's... Explain what's all in the mix. they got a couple of, smash burgers. like a good smash.
Burger, you know, and they got cheese and they got this special kind of, uh, aioli sauce that's on it. You're going to have an accident over there. No, I'll make it. I'll make it. We're going to be going out for dinner as soon as we're done here. I eat the microphone cooking show. Yeah. Um, how about you, Steve? Best burger place in town. I also like Meisters in Stillwater. Never had it, but you have to bring cash. Maybe we should go to Meisters. Is it close? Oh yeah. It's in Stillwater.
It's five miles. Yeah. Let's go. Let's go to Meister's. You don't know Meister's? I don't know Meister's. We're going. Don't forget about Shamrock's. That's another great burger spot. Anyway, go on. Is that the one, uh, West 7th? West 7th. Okay. I don't have a good burger. I kind of, I've been kind of giving up on burgers. You suck at this. I like a good chicken sandwich. Oh, okay. Good for you. Maybe we'll do the chicken sandwich, uh, Chronicles next time.
But what do you, what's your favorite chicken sandwich? I like, uh, uh, what's the... You ever been to Revival? Oh my goodness. Yeah, that's good. Revival Chicken is fan. Have you been to Revival, Mario? No. You should make it a point to go. What's the chicken? Popeyes? Can you make chicken? No, no. It's... It's like the In N Out. It's like the In N Out burger. Chick fil A? No. Um, in town here. It's like canes? Canes. You couldn't think of the canes?
I couldn't think of the canes because I don't go there very often. Oh man. Are you like a tofu guy or what's your problem? No, I just, I kind of, I kind of dropped burgers. I haven't, I don't like burgers anymore. I don't know what happened. Oh boy. Unless I make them. You know what, we're going to go, we're going to go to Meisters and we're going to have some burgers. We're going to change your mind on burgers. But I do like, I like a steak sandwich more so than a burger. Lakeside.
God. Remember the Lakeside? Oh, do we? Yep. Nickel plated grill. Nickel plated grill. That was a good steak sandwich. Damn, it was good. Yep. Oh, man. Why didn't we talk about this before we eat? It makes me so sad that the Lakeside is gone. If you haven't figured this out, this is one of those random chatter episodes. We weren't sure what we wanted to talk about. We still have Mancini's. And I'm gonna tell you, I went there about a month ago with a buddy of mine. And it had been a while.
I think the last time... Prior to that was a year or two ago when Becky, John, Chrissy, and I went, so you can't beat, you know, if you find a place Lakeside is that place where... Supper club. It's a supper club. That feel is different, man. You get the salad, you get the bread, you get the old school just perfectly cooked steak and a big baked potato. You can't beat that. Well, speaking of the Kindness Chronicles...
You go into Mancini's and back in the day, Nick Mancini, my parents were not close friends with Nick Mancini, but Nick Mancini always made them feel like, God, I've been waiting to see you. You know, how is it now? John and Pat are kind of the same way. They come over. It's funny you say that because they came over that night, sat down. How's your meal? How you been? How's work? I mean, just, you're right.
They had you, they have a way of making you feel like your family there and that place is timeless. Like it's, it's always exactly what you want it to be. It never changes. I don't want it to change. And the food just is still straight in. And it's packed constantly. We went there when I was a kid, we had a Party there or something and Nick came over and talked to my mom and dad and I thought they were like celebrities because of the way He did that. Oh, how do they know everybody?
This is so cool that they know him. It's a big deal That's how they do it. That is an amazing... That's hospitality, baby. over the top hospitality that obviously lasts for generations. And people remember that. Absolutely. And I remember one time going there and the place was just packed. They don't take reservations, generally speaking. And my mom and dad and my sister and I and maybe Becky and Chad were in line.
And Nick comes up and he grabs us and he says, And my parents go there on a fairly regular basis. But, uh, I kind of felt like a big deal, you know? And I know my dad felt like kind of a big deal. Dad, I know you're listening. It kind of was! It's kind of got a good fellas, uh, vibe going on there. So Mario, you're going to take your young lady friend out for a date night meal, and it's your favorite spot for you two guys. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. It can be Applebee's.
That's cool too. Riblets are great. But, where would you go? Um, we went here on like one of our anniversaries. Uh, I like cassettas a lot. Can't go wrong with cassettas. Another St. Paul tradition. I love it. What do you get when you go to Cassettas? I usually get, um, This is the food, food show. Usually I get the small, um, rigatoni. Masticholi. Masticholi. That's when you get the, uh, the Italian sausage on the side. Oh, man. Some ragazzi's in there. Oh, yeah. It's really good.
So I like the Cassetta salad. It is a good salad. A cassette of salad is really good, and in addition to that, their pizza is exceptional. Love their sausage pizza. the slice is, is, It's ample. It's, it's ample. If you don't eat crust, you can eat two slices if you're hungry. But if you eat the crust, one slice and you'll be full. I might butter on the crust. Oh, I see what you'd like. A little, uh, breadstick type of deal. A little breadstick. It's pretty, pretty good.
in St. Paul. Used to be the airport, the old airport. Ike's? No. Oh! Oh, um, uh, Chose? No, the place that's down at the St. Paul Airport. You can watch planes in Chopper's Land. What's the name of it? The restaurant is so good. It's fantastic. I've never been there. On Holman Field? Yes, Holman's Table. Holman's Table. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Come on now. Yeah. It's so good. It's open year round? It's open year round. Yeah. Coleman's Table is absolutely fantastic.
Yes. What is your, this is going places I wasn't expecting. It's organic. What's your, you know, you asked him, you have a special occasion with, uh, With Mrs. Bailey, Ms. Bailey, if you're nasty. Geez, Janet Jackson reference. Janet Jackson reference, you're welcome. What's your favorite restaurant? This is an easy one, and I hope she at some point finds this podcast and knows right now. Why isn't she listening to this podcast? Um. Everyone else is.
In Wyzetta, overlooking Wyzetta Bay, there's a place called Gianni's. Oh God. The spun salad that they make for you at the table will knock the socks straight off your feet. And the steaks are out of this world. Yeah, it is one of the very few prime houses in the Twin Cities. Now bring your credit cards, because it's not going to be cheap. We don't go there often, but on special occasions, that's where we go. Okay. Yeah. What do you got? We just had a date weekend last weekend.
We went, we had a late night dinner. at Bar La Grassa. Oh, great pick. BLG. It was so good. And we only go there on special occasions, too, because it's, you know, but we got there free. French fries with that, uh, Bearnaise sauce. No, we had the, uh, some kind of bruschetta and, and the shrimp, shrimp and pasta. She had some other lamb thing. So good. That place is hard to get into, though, dude. We got there. That's why we got there late, like 930 at night. You didn't have a reservation?
You just showed up there? Yeah. And it was, it started to empty out about 10 o'clock. Okay, cool. It was good. Now, my go to place. Yeah, what's yours? Baltimore. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. All day long. LaPanta loves that spot, too, and he's kind of a steak snob. Baltimore, another prime house. Also, that place is best to go to when you're going on, like, a corporate, um, expense Oh, when you've got the, yeah, the work. Yeah. I like going to some work functions.
They're not my work functions, but they're, you know, Becky's. Becky's, uh, boss likes to go to Baltimore. There's a waiter there that could be his twin for crying out loud, remember? Well, he's the, the, the general manager, actually. Oh, sorry. Michael. Uh, speaking of the Hawkins, uh, Patrick and Christine became grandparents today. Well, that's awesome. Their daughter, Elizabeth, who was at the grad party, and we're going to talk about that next. She was here.
And, uh, sounds like she was in labor for, you know, five or eight minutes. Oh, boy. Unbelievable. And, uh, Nash Hawkins, uh, Nash Hawkins was brought into this world. And he's super cute. What's the middle name? Hawkins. Oh, I get it. Yeah, because that's the, Dad's name. That's awesome. Elizabeth's name. That sounds like an action figure. Nash Hawkins. Nash Hawkins Gunderson. Oh, yeah. Nash Hawkins Gunderson. Nash Hawkins Gunderson. Nash Gunderson. I love it. Sounds like a writer.
Nash Hawkins. I'm sure. Or a character in a book. Yeah, it's a good strong name. Yep. It's gonna be kind of a big deal. Well, we know that already. Like your party was. Like my, okay, great segue. So we, this was, uh, last week was preparing for the graduation party. And, uh, there's a story in the Bible about, uh, killing the fatted calf. Um, that's kind of what it felt like. Um, the good news is, you know, every surface... of our house has been re stained or painted.
Um, people didn't even go in the backyard. They weren't invited in the backyard and suddenly But that was redone. Everything was redone. Oh yeah. Um, I think that this was an excuse to do a whole bunch of things. It always is, yeah. It's really time to sell the house right now because it's, it's, you know, the yard looks good. Yeah. But, uh, but all three of my friends here were at the party. KG came early because he was working at Canterbury.
Steve came and stayed a long time and spent time with my parents and they just loved ya. Oh, your mom and dad were so much fun to talk with. And we got to meet Jennifer. Jennifer couldn't have been more fun. My lady. Oh my god, what a great gal. Seriously, very cool. We had a, we were delighted with the conversation from your parents and your parents friends. Oh my gosh. We were laughing the whole time. They are funny people. What time did you come? They were like, you gotta move to Monomidai.
We gotta, they were trying to get us here. To buy Scott Berg's house. Yeah, you gotta buy Scott's house. We got here like, uh, noon ish. Oh, perfect. Yeah. Was there bacon? Did you have bacon? Oh yeah, we got some bacon. Oh, I didn't get a donut, but I had some, uh, I had a crepe and a coffee and a bloody Mary. So there were, there, there was all kinds of stuff. A crepe truck, and the crepes, I think we, we made, they made something like 300 crepes. What were the flavor options?
There was all kinds of, there was savory and sweet. Did you have a crepe, Mario? I did. I have the, I had the, uh, Cinnamon and sugar. Cinnamon and sugar. So you were wanting to test your blood sugar situation. That was a good one. I had more of a savory one that had sausage and peppers and cheese and there was a hollandaise sauce on top. You love your hollandaise. Well, here's what's so funny. It was so chaotic at the party that I went upstairs into my office. And ate my crepe.
It was just like five minutes, but I just needed five minutes. You needed five minutes where you weren't having to entertain or put out a fire. I wanted to focus on the food. Good for you. And it was fantastic. I need to say something. Uh, this is very important. So, you had a grad party last year, right? So you probably remember. It's very important for the graduate to greet the guests. And we told our kids this. Okay, this is your party.
You have to greet everybody and your daughter doesn't know my wife and you know, barely knows me But we came up this up the hill here in the estate and the the gates opened up the gates open Yes, but you got past the guards. So that was the Dobermans were a little pesky better than that. He made it No, but she greeted us.
She was so nice and kind and like it was cool that she wasn't like hey, you know I bet we've been to grab parties where they no one looks at you and just like oh Yeah, we have a card and Riley's a great kid turned out. Okay. She was a great. She's an old soul Won't you agree from like she's always been ahead of her time.
She's and I think when you're the youngest like I think of my youngest Anika Having two older siblings to, I don't know, there's just something about that dynamic, but I got to know Riley when she was really little. Yeah. And one of the first times I met her, loud party, right, it might have been New Year's Eve, and she hopped up on the kitchen table. I remember it. Grabbed like a, one of those rubber...
Spoons and just started singing and it was like professional level and she was five or six and there was like 15 adults drinking around her and she had that stage and she was unafraid I told her that story at the grab party She got all blush. She goes that's not gonna happen here I'm like, well it did back in the day and she's just such a great Just her personality is so, just chill. I love the kid. that's very nice. And I feel the same about your children. You're very funny with them.
Your children? Yeah, you're like the crazy uncle. They love you. Oh, yeah. I've got issues, but that's a whole other situation. Attention needs. Well, Will Anderson has, I mean, he doesn't make... A lot of grad party showings when it's outside of like Maple Grove. When I heard he was here, I knew, I knew he'd be here because. You're one of his very favorite humans. Oh, come on. No, I'm not kidding. Well, Will's one of my favorites.
I've, you know, we always, like, joked with Will about, he's a good athlete, so we called him Crossover and, you know, Mr. Crossover Dribble and Captain Varsity and all this other stuff. He's a stud. He was a wide receiver on the football team. He could play any sport though, like golf, baseball, football, I mean, he could do it all. But yeah, it was fun, it was fun to see all those guys. Riley, she was a gymnast for 15 years. She was a gymnast with, uh, Emma Esteb, Mario's sister.
And that's kind of how we reconnected with the Estebs. It was, they were part of this gymnastics club. And, just so disciplined, She went through and she opened all of the cards like the first day and it wasn't because she wanted the money She wants to get the thank yous out already as soon as possible Well, so what she's decided that she's gonna do is I think she's gonna do like 15 or so of the thank yous every because she wants to not hustle through it.
Well, and she wants to personalize, you know, not just closer to the party, closer to the memory. Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Very, very nice. So I'm very proud of Riley. She's going to the university of Wisconsin, Madison. It's really funny. We had a couple of big posters. One of them is her gymnastics poster. And on the bottom it says university of Wisconsin, Madison. And then there was a Wisconsin. Badger flag hanging out there.
So it almost looked like she was going to the University of Wisconsin Madison for gymnastics. All of her teammates have like full scholarships to go do gymnastics. So I had a couple people ask me if she was doing gymnastics at Wisconsin. Well, they don't have a team. What? They don't have a team at UW Madison. I had no idea. It's a huge school. Huge school. They don't have a gymnastics team. But I did say, well, she is going to be doing gymnastics, just not on an organized team.
Probably not even like a club team, but you know, I'm sure she'll do a cartwheel every once in a while after she's been over served. Oh, for sure. Start her own team. You know, she could start a club. Could be a club team. Yeah. That's a lot of work. Yeah. It was a lovely party. It was a great party. Since we're talking about food. Yeah, let's get back to food, since we're going to dinner here after. The crepes were fantastic. Did they run out at any point? Not the crepes.
If you recall, on one of these podcasts, I think we mentioned that when I asked my wife how much bacon I should buy. That was funny. She said a hundred pounds. And I said, are you insane? That's crazy. the bacon would have cost more than my first car, and I'm not exaggerating. My very first car. The line item for bacon is a little high. It's a little high. A hundred pounds. So I didn't get a hundred pounds, but I got 50 pounds of bacon. Which is a lot of bacon.
And And with about 15 minutes left in the party, ran out of bacon. Wow. But, that's because we showed up. Your number was so much closer to the ideal number than hers. So she can't throw that back at you. If this were the prices right, she went over. Yeah. I did not go over. I had one slice. I wanted to stay light on my feet that day. I had one, I had to try it. I literally, if he wasn't watching and I wasn't going to work, I could have eaten the whole pan.
I'm not kidding, that stuff melted in my mouth. I had significantly more than one slice. But here's what's funny. Did you eat it by yourself in the room? No, I ate that publicly. That wasn't a closet movement. Just nibble here and there. Um, several of Becky's friends, part of the G& O crew, had apparently put, slices of bacon in their purse, wrapped up in a No, please no. Yes? Please no, we're not getting that old, please no. And then sent pictures to Becky of the next day. at lunch.
We're that old? We're that old. No, we're finally there. Like, I remember vividly my parents doing that. Like, when they were in their 60s. Well, it's okay to take a doggy bag home, but If this is different. If my wife would have thought of it, she would have done it. She's gonna hear this and go, Damn, I should have done that. So the bacon was purchased at Brines and Stillwater. Okay. Which is fantastic.
But yeah, the bacon, and then, um... I bought a dozen, dozen donuts, just in case the crepes weren't gonna be enough. 144 donuts? 144 donuts. Where were those from? They were from two places. This is a great story. So, oh yeah. One of them was the Maplewood Bakery, which is this old school bakery on Frost on the east side. It's fantastic. And, uh, they have something called a cronut, which is where the croissant meets the donut. Yeah. Sounds healthy. Somewhere in space.
And on Saturday morning, if you want a cronut, You got to get there by like 7 o'clock in the morning, or all the phonics are gone. So I have talked to the owner and I'm like... Have you ever thrown out a Cronut? Like, never. There's no chance. I'm like, why don't you make more Cronuts? I mean, you could sell so damn many of those Cronuts. It's a fine line though to keep people wanting more. Well, mission accomplished.
Yeah. So we got Cronuts and, uh, and some, uh, old fashions and, this is a quick story. It's a great story, you told me at the party. Should I use the accent? I don't think that's a good idea. Probably the accent wouldn't be appropriate. Oh, that was the best part of the story. But still, I would hold off. So there's a place in, uh, little Canada called the Donut Hut. And, um, we were introduced to the Donut Hut by my sister. And she said, I know you love Maplewood Bakery.
Just give this place a try. So on Mother's Day, we stopped the Donut Hut 9 o'clock in the morning. There had to have been 75 people in line to get donuts at the Donut Hut. Oh, jeez. But, let me tell ya. I don't know what they do to those donuts, but they are different. They are exceptional. So, I show up and there's... Nickel plated grill. Yeah, nipple, no, no, no, I think it's the grease. Nickel plated deep fryer. It's gotta be the grease that they use. Yeah, yeah, special grease.
Something, uh, special grease. So I show up and there's all these stacks of donuts and they have letters written on 'em. Like M the box. Yeah. Four, you know, M four, all the orders, all ready to go. Yep. Four boxes. And I ordered six dozen donuts before. Yeah. So quite a big group. So big box. Big boxes. Big boxes. You're looking for 'em. So I see sc. I'm like, that looks like, you know, 6 dozen donuts.
So I wait in line, this is at 6. 30 in the morning and there are probably 10 people in line ahead of me. Have you had coffee yet? I haven't had coffee. I did have a Diet Coke from McDonald's. So I was going to stop there in the morning. And I grab this little slip and the owner guy It was like the Soup Nazi. He got after ya. He got after me for touching the slip. Very strong accent. You don't touch those slips. He had a very strong accent.
Uh, and I won't be doing it because I don't want to be cancelled. But it was a significant accent. And he was very loud. And you got scolded. What are you doing taking that tag? You don't touch those without permission. Those are for a church. A lot of people want donuts, John. You can't just come in and grab it. John has a history of challenging authority in situations like that. He was once booted like a manager out of a baseball game. Out of a toy drive. Yeah, yeah. We've heard that story.
We're not going to go there. This is the food episode. You like to break the rules. Step over and take what you think is yours. So, I, he said, he asked what my last name was. And I told him, and he kind of looked at me like the soup Nazi did to Seinfeld. And he goes, red sprinkles. And he turns around, and the woman that was working with him said something to the effect of, you know, we usually only do red sprinkles for, for Christmas and Valentine's Day.
So he wasn't real happy that he had to go out and get red sprinkles. Red sprinkles. And we got red sprinkles because, there was a branding theme for the, uh, Oh, we know that, John. We were here. Um, a real quick thank you to our friend Karen Liam. Oh, Crafty Karen. So good. So she made all of these signs and aprons and... But she does t shirts, she does mugs. She has a regular full time. She's successful in the business world. And then she does this on the side and she's amazing. You can tell.
It all tied together. It was very smart. We had our own font. Yeah. Party font. There was a Happy Father's Day sign that had this font. The parking signs. Becky, had like frames with, Big Daddy's Donuts and Grandpa Bud's Bacon and Uncle Marty's, uh, Yeah, Crafty Karen. Find her, how do you find her online, John? I, I don't know if she is online. I'm not sure if she's looking for, for business. Oh man, she's terrible. I also want to thank Uncle Marty and Aunt Kim.
They had the, uh, The Bloody Mary Bar. My sister Kate. That was good. Sister Kate had the cold brew. We had some friends here. Our, our older parent, Armada. Yeah, Kate was rocking it when I was here. Our friend Joe was running around like a lunatic. Uncle Chad, you know, he helped me get ice and move garbage and just such a great group of people. It paid off because it was a great party. So how long did it take you from the time the last guest... Left. It wasn't family, right? The guests.
That was us. So it had to be like 3 o'clock? We were late. We were late. 3 o'clock. We were, it was about 2 o'clock. Yes. Okay, how long did the pickup take? I would guess till 7 or 8. So, no. So, what was great was, Uncle Marty and uh, and Joan, a couple people were going around, like, cleaning up the tables, taking the tablecloths off. Essentially the message to the people that were, right, the like, okay people, the party's over. Don't you people have homes?
And our DJ, we had a DJ, of course. What? Yeah, Nirmana's husband. Ryan was the DJ. when I was there. Oh, it was, he came at 10 o'clock. You just had left. Oh, I was here until 10. 15. Okay, well, he was setting up. Yeah, he was. Anyways, he played closing time at, Oh, I 15. We missed it, yeah. We, we missed our left right before that. Dave Ramelli was one of our neighbors, one of Riley's friends dads, and he was looking at the forecast and he said, I think you need another tent or two.
And he goes, I've already checked Haney Rental has a tent. I got a pickup truck. Let's go over and pick it up. So Saturday, the day before the party, Dave goes over with Becky, they pick up the, uh, cuz I was out getting donuts, but they go and they pick up the, the tent and by the time I get home the tent is already put up. So thank you. Dave Ramly? Yeah, he's a mod guy. Good dude. Did it ring a lot or did it rain a lot? So it did not, it sprinkled a teeny bit at 10 o'clock. Just sprinkles.
And I thought, oh my God, it hasn't rained. It poured in Minneapolis. At, like, 2. 45, the heavens opened up, and it was torrential downpour for about an hour or so. And you were... We were done. Everything was, was moved into the garage. Everything was... I mean, a couple of the tents were still up. But still, everything else, because you had a lot of really nice... We had a lot of people helping. picture boards. I mean, all that was moved in by then, you didn't get...
Wow. Yeah. Many hands make light the work. Is that how that saying goes? Takes a village. All right. Well, thank you guys for coming to the party. Uh, it was very enjoyable. Congratulations, Riley. Congratulations to you guys. We've reviewed some of the food places. This was a random chatter, uh, event for us. With some kindness mixed in. We're gonna have, uh, the Vince Flynn, tribute is being put together. We've, uh, had a few interviews. Couple more to come.
We're cobbling that one together and uh, right now I think that three of us are going to go out for dinner. I think Mario has special plans at Casetta's with his special friend. Alright, well, this has been great. And, uh, we're going to go to Meister's now. We're going to have some Meister burgers. Absolutely. And, uh, anything else? And off we go.
