It's table Talk Monday on the Corell Cast. We're in a talk turkey at my table, like why is everything so expensive? And who's to blame? Trump was in Las Vegas on Sunday. What does that mean? And why is he connecting? And are you done with QR codes? Uncensored, unfiltered, fun hinged. E's the corel Cast. Listen daily on your favorite streaming service. It is the crowd Cast. I am Correl and welcome to my table talk. You know I did this a couple of times and you all
really liked it. I think it's because I'm more conversational when I'm sitting at the table. We've got a lot to talk about today. You know, Donald Trump was in my fair city of Las Vegas yesterday. He held a rally at twelve noon in Sunset Park where it was one hundred and one degrees. They say three thousand people showed up. He says thirty thousand. Well I don't know that he says that, but you know how he always exaggerates
everything. And you got to remember several bus loads of people were brought in from Arizona and other places, so you know, the organic turnout versus you know, contrived. They also pay fifty bucks to go to a Trump rally. You can literally get paid fifty dollars to go to a Trump rally, although you couldn't pay me to go to a Trump rally. But he was here yesterday, and I started thinking about why Biden is so close with Donald Trump and the polls. You know, what is it that's not connecting?
Okay? And because look the guy, Donald Trump thirty four fell a account. Several more trials today Monday, he meets with his parole officer. Virtually. We're going to talk about that a little later. But I wondered why, you know, Biden isn't just I mean, I don't care who's running on the other side, Joe Biden or a dead you know, a fifty
year old corpse, anything running. A dolphin running against you know, a killer whale running against Donald Trump should actually be scoring higher in the polls than Donald Trump, because the man is truly the worst humanity has to offer, just like Hitler. You know, they're of the same cloth, and Donald Trump is proud of that. I'm not you know, I'm not insulting him by saying and comparing him to Hitler. He likes it because he idolizes Hitler,
which is scary. But also I watch a lot of world news, and in the world news, for instance, in the EU, they're voting and far right candidates are picking up a lot of votes, and they're wondering, you know, is this they're Donald Trump moment. They're even saying that in the news and they're wondering, you know why. And when you go on and you listen to what the people are saying, it echoes the exact
same thing that people are saying here in the United States. And it's stuff that you and I talk about right here at our dining table, or I fully believe that our home desk has now replaced sort of the dining table as for where we look at issues, or where we talk about our family, where we lay out our budget, you know that sort of thing. So I thought to myself, you know, why isn't Biden connecting? And it really is because of and I don't want to say the economy, because what
I'm going to talk about is not the economy. You see, we we have this idea of inflation and the economy and everything's so expensive, so there must be high inflation. That's just it's not true. The thing to blame for Joe Biden not being further ahead from Donald Trump, the one thing is
capitalism. Capitalism is destroying Biden. And let me tell you why. And the rest of the world, by the way, not just Joe Biden, but left leaning candidates are losing in places where they should be winning because a lot of right wingers are saying, well, yeah, but look now, two years later, four years later, everything's so much more expensive. You're
not better off than you were. And even though Biden and his acolytes will come out and across the globe, the acolytes from Macron, or the acolytes for the chancellor in Germany or whatever it may be, they will come out and they will tell you, no, that's not true. The economy is great. We've added two hundred five thousand jobs. You know, the Wall Street is this, and blah blah blah that. And that's the problem. You see, they're not speaking our language. They're not talking directly to you
and to me. And let me tell you why. Right now today, financially, I am not better off than I was four years ago. And that's because gas is over four dollars a gallon here in Las Vegas, groceries are out of frickin control. You're paying two dollars for a head of lettuce, a dollar fifty for a tomato, bananas fifty cents each. I mean, just on down the line, all groceries have gone way up and eating out I mean. And the weird thing is fast food is now as expensive.
Not that I eat it, but I look at the prices, and a meal at a fast food restaurant is now the same price as a meal at a non fast food restaurant. I just stayed at Garden Grill. It's a vegan restaurant here in Las Vegas, and I don't want to tell you what I had. I don't want to tell you what I had yesterday yesterday. I okay, So we're going to talk about later what I did yesterday making a video for Daniel's memorial which is Wednesday. So I'm pretty depressed this
week, but I needed comfort food. I was like just so depressed. So I went to Garden Grill and I had a vegan fried chicken and waffle, which is a vegan waffle with a deep fried fake chicken breast on top a scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy with mushrooms. Oh my god. Oh Ember loved it. I loved it. And I'm not going to go off about how Ember has a cough and she sees the vet this evening and I have to leave tomorrow, and I hope she doesn't have kennel cough. It
could be allergies causing the cough. We're going to see. I'm very worried. I'm very worried. But anyway, so I went to Garden Grill and it was twenty two dollars for lunch. So that was for the chicken and waffle and a drink. And it's twenty two dollars and the tip thing it started at eighteen percent. I hate when they do that, eighteen twenty or twenty two. I hate that fifteen When did fifteen percent not become acceptable?
When did fifteen percent become like? When does servers say, nah, we don't want fifteen percent anymore, we want twenty You know, that's a whole other topic. But and I've done it here on the show that you know, tipping is just it's getting crazy. So it's twenty two bucks, and you know that it should have been eleven twelve probably. But now when you go to like a McDonald's or a Carls Junior or what's the other place,
Jack in the Box, you're paying twenty bucks for a meal. For the burger, fries, your beverage, or whatever side dish you get, you're paying twenty bucks. So it's basically twenty bucks to eat out. Now you can find some cheaper, but it's basically twenty bucks to eat out and groceries. It's almost twenty bucks to make dinner, you know, for two people. It literally and you're gonna say, no, Curl, I could do
it much cheaper, but you really can't. You know, it literally is now twenty bucks a day because you can have leftovers, you know, minimum to eat, So minimum for one person six to seven hundred dollars a month. And by the way, i'd like your comments down below. How much do you give me the number? How much do you spend a month on food, on groceries, on eating out everything? What is your total monthly expenditure for food? Mine's running between seven hundred and nine hundred dollars yep,
And so that's a lot. It shouldn't be running that much. Gas expensive now, you know, I own my house, and the only payment I have is on the loan I got for the the what is that thing, water heater, you know, air conditioner, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove. I didn't have enough leftover from the sale of my head for all of that, and it ended up being like thirty eight thousand dollars. So I just check out an equity line. I pay seven hundred a month on that,
and I'll probably pay for it until I sell the house. But that's the only expense. I guess you could look at that as a mortgage. So we have all of that going on. Rents are out of control, out of control all over the country, all over the world, and everybody in every country is saying the same things. Life has gotten too expensive, and they blame the leaders. But that's not who they should blame. Well, yes, and no, they shouldn't blame the leaders because leaders don't set pricing.
Corporations do. And the corporations have used COVID and supply chain issues and all these little catchphrases to charge exponentially more than they need to. Okay, they don't need to be charging all this money, but they are because they can get it. And so corporate greed. You know, McDonald's just threatened to leave California because of the twenty dollars minimum wage. They say, oh, it's just too expensive. They've been doing business in Europe forever, where
there is the same minimum wage. Okay, they even pay their workers more in Europe, and yet they've been just fine. That's just a corporation that's greedy as all that is. And I think California and the country would be great if McDonald's shut down. It would be one of the best things ever. But we've got, you know, restaurants threatening to leave because you're paying people the wage to keep them in poverty eight hundred dollars a week, which
very few workers at fast food get. You know, forty hours let's say thirty hours six hundred dollars a week is only twenty four hundred a month. That's not even thirty thousand dollars a year. So if you're making twenty bucks an hour at a fast food restaurant, you're working another job. And that's a shame. They're screaming about paying twenty bucks an hour, but they it
really should be thirty. To survive in today's world, you need seventy k a year to just get by. And some of you are going to disagree, Oh no, carell I'll get by on the you know what, I'm living in the real world. You're not. You have found a way to scrimp and save and do this and do that, and deprive yourself and not enjoy your life, you know, meaning not going out to eat. You know, okay, and great and good for you. And I know some of you are on very fixed incomes two grand a month if that, so
you know you can't go out. I get it, I get it. I'm talking about the average American, the average European, the forty five or fifty year old or thirty or thirty five year old average person in America or Europe. They're blaming the leaders because they're not doing better right now. But it's not their fault. Okay, it's corporate greed. And the only thing that is their fault is that they won't rein in the corporate greed. But
we won't either. If a politician came up with some very real solutions. For instance, essential food should be a nonprofit organ business period end. Anyone that supplies fruits, vegetables, beans, you know, the basics that you have to eat, not the frilly food okay, not the package processed you know all that I'm talking about basic food. Those organizations should be not for
profit. Healthcare should not be a profit industry, okay, No, No one should get mega rich off of sick people, not drug companies, not. The government should say no, these are not for profit industries in our country. But what president's going to do that? What President's going to go up against the billionaires that run the seven food companies that sell you all the food, the oil companies oil if it is essential to everyday life, If
transportation is that crucial, the government should run it. After all, the oil comes from under our property, from the land of the free, So why we don't own the oil company and subsidize it to get cheap fuel to you. You know, there are solutions that government could take, but they're not gonna and so we blame Biden because the economies quote bad. Well, the economy is good if you're rich, and all the indicators of whether the
economy is good or bad are based on the wealthy. Whether Wall Street's doing okay, how many jobs employers are adding. That doesn't tell you that the people getting those jobs are getting them because they got to work three jobs now, and so people are angry and they're mad at how much life, medical care, how you know, food, gas, housing, the basics of life. Fucking cable. I downgraded my plan and it's ninety bucks still. So we blame the politicians, We blame them for corporate greed, but are
they responsible? Don't forget to put down below how much a month you're spending on food? I really want to hear from you. We'll be right back. How much are you spending on food? I need to know. So we have a lot of unhappy people because of the price of everything, and they're blaming the politicians because that's what you know who's gonna blame, and it's really the corporation. There's no reason cars are as expensive as they are. There's no reason. Insurance. That's another thing that people are screaming about their my car, insurance, your car. I pay one hundred and seventy dollars a month for a car that's worth two thousand dollars. I pay two
thousand dollars a year to insure a car that's worth two thousand dollars. Of course, I pay for the liability, meaning I'm paying for if I get in a wreck and the other car you know, and the other car is not it's gonna be worth more than two thousand. So once again, so what could President Biden do? Leave your comments down below. What could he do? Because in Biden's world, the economy's great. Job creation is up, you know, everything's up. All the indicators are up. The economy
is good, but good for whom. No one I know says that they're doing okay right now. And that's why Biden is so neck and neck with Trump because Trump's I'm going to lower your cost of living. Yesterday in Las Vegas, he said he wants to make tips non taxable. By the way, tips should not be taxable. But you know that's just and neither should patreon or subscription things like this. I have to pay taxes on the Patreon. You shouldn't. If someone's donating to your cause, it's your income should
be that shouldn't be taxed. But whatever, you know. So Trump's out there saying, oh, because we have a large service work in service workers union here and saying, oh, we're not going to tax your tips, Well that would give them, you know, a lot more money. So people are not feeling like they're getting ahead or even like they're treading water. Most people feel like they're sinking. And so we hear, on one hand, in this year, we hear from the Democrats, how great the American
economy is doing, and how everything you know is going well. And over here we've got nothing but bill collectors screaming at us. Interest rates for credit cards literally thirty percent. Now I don't I pay twenty one. Well, I don't really have a lot of credit card debt. I have some, but I don't have a ton. I don't have like twenty thirty thousand dollars. And you know, but people that do, they're paying twenty to thirty percent. Of course, they're never going to get ahead. Food prices out
of control, gas prices out of control. Tell me down below how much you're paying for food every month. And so when you have those two opposing forces in this year, you have Joe Biden's administration saying and they act like they don't understand that we're struggling. They act like they don't get it, like, well, why are you struggling? The economy's great, And every time we bring up things like high food prices, high insurance prices, high
gas prices, they say, yeah, but the economy. And see that's the disconnect. Joe Biden should be out there saying he's going to go out after all seven major food companies and he is going to make sure that their profits are not in excess, because if they are, he will I will find them, I will start I will levy a wealth tax against every one of the seven food companies for anything over a billion dollars. No food companies should make more than a billion dollars a year in profit. That means they're
making it off of doing the very basic thing of feeding people. So there are things government could do to lower the prices, but they'd have to go up against the very people that donate to their campaigns to keep them in office. Who's going to go up against Shell and Chevron and all of them. Who's going to go up against ConAgra and all the food companies. You know,
Who's who's going to bite the hands that literally feeds them. And so that's why Trump makes these basically claims that he could never do, nor would he ever. I'm gonna lower food prices, I'm gonna lower gas prices. And people hear that, and whether they you know, whether he can do it or not. It doesn't matter because they're hearing Suddenly the noise in their head is being balanced because over here you got Biden, No, it's all great, and then you've got reality, No, it's not all great,
and that causes like a cacophony of noise in your head. They've got things are terrible over here, and I'm gonna make it better over here. Joe Biden's not talking about making the economy better because he's touting how great it is. So he's not out on the campaign trail saying I'm gonna lower gas prices, I'm gonna lower your cost of living. I'm gonna get food prices down, I'm gonna get restaurant prices down. He's not out there saying that Trump
is. And it's one of the reasons that he's ahead when he shouldn't be or not ahead. But you know why they're neck and neck, and he shouldn't be. He's a convicted felon, he's a sexual offender. He should not be even in the race, but he is, and he's doing okay because there's this disconnect between the Democrats and reality. And I don't know if it's because most Democrats are rich. I don't know. You know, I've been I've voted democratic my whole life, but I don't understand the disconnect.
It's like Pride. It's it's June is Pride month, and you have all these Pride festivals out there, and yet there are five hundred and fifteen anti gay pieces of legislation being monitored by the ACLU right now. Trans people are constantly under attack. The Supreme Court is going to take up a case next year that could reverse same sex marriage. This is not the month to be out there dancing with Mariah Carey, singing along with Ekstina and saying, oh
but we got at least party. No, this is not the month. Every day that Pride organizations are spending on big name talent should be good being donated to politicians campaigns that are going to protect our rights. Instead of giving Kylie Minoud fifty thousand dollars to perform in LA, they should have given a gay group fifty thousand dollars, a group that's going to help fight and get people elected to support our rights. Zero money should have gone for talent this
year at any Pride event. The acts should have donated their time for expenses. You know, like pay for the hotel, pay for the airfare, but I'll waive my fee. Give that money to a group that's going to help get politicians elected, that are going to protect our rights because they are under attack. But do you think any gay organization would do that? Oh no, they'll say, well, we still give to those organizations. We'll give more. Why are you paying big name artists and God bless them?
I love Billy Porter held. This last weekend, he was in a DC with a lot of other big acts. I love that they're getting big acts now, you know Orville Peck and Kylie Mino and Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. I love that. I love that those people are now doing Pride, although that means that smaller dance acts, like my friend Thea, who has every year done just umpteen Prides, she's not getting very many bookings. And
it's not because her music isn't popular. Rhythm the Dancer is still charting and many of her other songs. It's because A they're hiring drag queens and B they're hiring much bigger acts, so they don't have as much money to spend. And it's like all acts this year should have waived their fees. Now, I note that, and I mean the big ones, not the small ones. Any act under five thousand dollars should get paid, period, And that's most people, like thea like the drag queens. If your fee is
under five grand for Pride, you should get paid. If your fee is over five grand, you should donate and tell them to give that money back. Ricky Martin just did La Pride? How much did he get paid? A lot? And yet that money could have gone to a candidate in the Los Angeles district that is going to fight for LGBTQ rights, you see. I don't know. Maybe it's because the memorial is Wednesday, and I've been thinking a lot about legacy, a lot about death, a lot about what
we're really here for, Like what really is our purpose. It's not to work and earn money and spend money with corporate That's not our purpose. Our purpose is to love, to take care of the planet, to help one another, to empower each other, to make each other laugh and smile, to entertain each other. That's why we're here working for ge or you know whoever, Amazon, That's not why we're here, and that's all our focus is nowadays making money to pay the exorbitant price it costs to live. I
can see why young people are mad, I really can. I'm mad. I can see why the younger generation is mad because they're right. All they do is work and spend money with corporations. That's all they and then bitch about it on social media and blame boomers. But you know, that's all they do. So I'd like to hear from you on a couple things. How much money do you spend every month on food? Number one? Number two, why do you think Biden is still neck and neck with Trump?
And don't say because there's a whole lot of idiots out there, that's the easy way. Why do you think his message isn't connecting with more people? You know, Donald Trump, no one should be voting for him, And if Biden were this force of nature, he'd be pulling more voters away. But he's just out there telling everyone how wonderful things are and they're not. Now it's not his fault that they're not, but he's not having I've had
more of a conversation about that today than Joe Biden has. I've told you more about why things are expensive than what Joe Biden has not come out and said, Look, the economy's great. I know you're paying more for food. But the seven companies that run the food industry who and then call them out. Nesley made four hundred percent more profit this year. ConAgra made six hundred. I'm not making these numbers up. By the way, ConAgra made
more than six hundred percent profit this year. The seven food companies that control your food, every one of them made three to seven hundred percent more profits in the last year. And yet they're screaming they have to charge these prices because of oh, our cost or way up. If you're cost or way up, how are you making four hundred percent more profit? This is what Joe Biden should be talking about, and he should be talking about. I
don't want to see Joe Biden debate Donald Trump. I want to see Joe Biden debate the heads of all the food companies. I want to see Joe Biden debate the head of all the oil companies. I want to see Joe Biden sit down with people on television and talk about how private equity firms are now the only ones that can afford to buy housing, and so private equity firms are buying up the limited number of housing for sale in America and then
turning around and renting it at exorbitant prices. Look at Red Lobster. They sold the land under Red Lobsters to an equity firm who then charged them so much rent they're going bankrupt. That's why rents are high. Why doesn't Joe Biden sit down and have that conversation with the American people. Your rent is high because equity firms and investment groups are buying up all the properties and then turning around and renting them for a huge price. So you can't even compete
to buy them because you can't compete with their wallets. So I'm going to say a moratorium. I am going to say that in every community only ten percent of property can be owned by investment companies or equity firms. Ninety percent must be private, individually owned. He could do that, Why don't they? You know, here in my condo complex, the HOA has a rule you can't rent the property. You have to move in and be the owner
occupied. Because they were getting too many renters to be FAHA qualified. So they said no, if you buy, you you know these are the conversations they should be having, they're not. I am Corey. I'll be who you want to be, so to hurt anybody. We'll see you on Wednesday. I will be at the memorial on Wednesday as well. It's a busy day Wednesday. Let's hope I can speak Okay, then say safe and talk to me down below. What do you think about today's show? What?
