Episode description

On Episode 52 of The $300 Startup Podcast...

I replaced routines and stuck with my practices. The things that I have done the longest in my life, no matter what the age. Not a superstition -doing the task daily because the repetition set's up the rhythm for your day- but the things you do as life long pursuits. It's the difference between making something up and having that thing you do.

You and I can both have a unique workout routine, diets, and preferred times of the day. But ultimately, we still have to exercise. One is a routine, completely made up. The other is a thing you do, regardless. I eat the same thing every day, at the same time, that's a routine. I shorten my feeding window with intermittent fasting, that's a practice.

These are my four practices. They keep me align with who I want to be and how I want to live.

Reading- “My alma mater was books, a good library…. I could spend the rest of my life reading, just satisfying my curiosity.” -- Malcolm X

Exercise- "Exercise and temperance can preserve something of our early strength even in old age." --Cicero

Journaling- “I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.” --Anne Frank

Writing- "You can make anything by writing." --C.S. Lewis
