Joe begins the Thursday show with some Phillies talk. Phillies won 3 of 4 in Miami, but the one loss still left a bitter taste in everyone’s mouths after blowing a 5-0 lead on Wednesday night. Joe equated that to being in customer service, and having a ton of nice people all day, and that one mean person ruins your good mood or your day.
Joe then mentioned the college realignment news, including the Big Ten potentially adding Oregon and Washington, and Arizona on the cusp of moving to the Big 12. From there, Andre Duke knocked, and we talked about the realignment topic, as well as NFL, MLB and much more. It was a great conversation with a fellow No Filter host.
Joe then went through the interesting news that he saw, both good and bad in the sports world. Joe reviewed the conference realignment news going on in the NCAA, adding the fact that Florida State (or any ACC school) would have to pay a $120 million exit fee to leave the ACC.
A Drexel men’s basketball player died on campus on Wednesday and another life was cut short. Hopefully my words were proper here, as I hoped whatever happened to him stays within the family and the Drexel athletic department.
Eduardo Rodriguez clarified today that the reason why he vetoed a trade to the LA Dodgers on Tuesday was for family reasons and nothing to do with the Dodgers. Good for him for thinking about his family (in Joe’s opinion).
Liam Hendriks, who beat cancer, underwent Tommy John surgery today. Joe wishes him the best and was rooting for him, even if he ended up on a bitter rival like the New York Mets.
Finally, the Stupid (Stuff) I Saw segment returned, and there was a re-enactment of the “I Like Turtles” kid who said that to promote a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming out soon (if it’s not out already).
