Episode description

Thursday was the anniversary of Saratoga and the opening day for Saratoga Race Course, but it was just another Thursday with Joe Quills, and it was a slow day since there were almost no sports. It was so slow that while Joe was working, he was watching NBA Summer League action.

But Joe begins with the release of the 2024 MLB schedules. It is Joe, or are the schedules released earlier and earlier each season? Joe gives initial thoughts of the schedule in general and shows how the Seattle Mariners announced their home schedule on Twitter. But, no NBA schedule as it appears the in season tournament may be causing problems with releasing their schedule.

Joe didn’t watch the ESPYs, but Lebron make a scene there as he announced he’s returning next year. Damar Hamlin gave an award to the Cincinnati hospital staff that saved his life. Dan Patrick stated about Lebron that it was all “needy”. DP knows the ESPYs from 20 years ago from the time where if you showed up, you got an award.

Flopping in the NBA next season will result in a technical foul. What will El BJ do now?

Oakland’s mayor Sheng Thao met with Rob Manfred this week, giving him 30 copies of timelines from their negotiations with the Athletics owner about the new stadium. Did the Athletics’ owner get caught in a lie? Will MLB still allow the move to Las Vegas? Be interesting to see.

Sean Casey thinks his job at MLB Network helped him become a hitting coach. Joe can see that because he’s watching vidoes. But how will be be accepted in the locker room? Casey did notice that this year’s Yankees, at least since Aaron Judge is out has not been going to the plate like the Yankees of the last 20 years or so.

Then Joe rambled about the lost episode from last Thursday, his thoughts on why numbers aren’t that important to him and why he promotes everyone no matter if it’s a Bleacher Brothers show, a No Filter show that isn’t Bleacher Brothers related, or on another site. If you’re a good person, you get promoted.

I ended with a question about Aaron Judge’s toe and I updated the Andrew Painter elbow issue with the Phillies.

Join Joe Tuesday and Thursday at 9:15 pm ET. Joe is part of the Bleacher Brothers Network. Go to bleacherbrothers.com for all that we do there!
