Jets disrespected on NFL Top 100 + Surprise Training Camp Cuts

[SPEAKER_02]: uh... just in free this year to last week show i know what happened might internet was working fine for however long and then all of a sudden we start the show and it's cutting it out to the point where it is what i've been a disservice to do the whole show but now we are reloaded and ready to go with this new show we got a lot of good stuff for today when i talk about some training camp stuff we're also going to go and do a little bit of a fun little mini game

[SPEAKER_02]: that we think could be really interesting, especially in these kind of dog days of summer. [SPEAKER_02]: So Justin, with that, very quick intro, how are you doing? [SPEAKER_00]: I, this is bizarre. [SPEAKER_00]: You've never done the intro before, first of all. [SPEAKER_00]: That was weird. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel weird being the second one to talk here. [SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't even at the, it was the power, but the internet was there and it kept going on and off and it would connect for five seconds and come off. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, listen, I'm very, very excited for this for this show because we've been planning for a couple of weeks to debut this and ready to get to it at the very end, but it's called the Jet Press Roulette. [SPEAKER_00]: We will we will get to it later. [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be some some fun mini games, especially because it's the middle July and what is there to talk about?

[SPEAKER_02]: Why are we talking about the NFL top one hundred when it's a goofy player list? [SPEAKER_02]: Well, because I don't think the jets are going to have a lot of guys very high on it.

[SPEAKER_02]: really only one player has been revealed so far and that is Quinn Williams all the way down at eighty seven which is a sharp drop from where it was like thirty forty spots down from where he was last year and I don't like the implication that has for the rest of the roster because that probably means Quincy Williams is taking a tumble that probably means Garrett Wilson may even take a tumble because he was good last year but I think people expected him to kind of make that jump to elite

[SPEAKER_02]: with Aaron Rodgers and he didn't, he's still good, but didn't really have the leap some people may have thought. [SPEAKER_02]: And the sauce gardener is going to go down because the fight, the fact he allows the fewest catches of any corner back in the league, there's this narrative exists that he's bad. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, as narrators that Luke Adonchitch is a bad player, you know, that's going on.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Is that a player? [SPEAKER_02]: Is that a thing? [SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's that the comparison is that he's that level of good and people just say. [SPEAKER_00]: No, not only is he not as good as you say he is actually I've seen that about Janus too, and I'm like, what are we doing? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Janus. [SPEAKER_00]: What's going on? [SPEAKER_00]: People, you know, people have been saying Palo bank hair was better than Janus. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's been a take. [SPEAKER_02]: Are these people either sober sober or over five years of age? [SPEAKER_02]: Well, they [SPEAKER_00]: They live in, they live in Florida likely because they're probably magic fans. [SPEAKER_02]: No offense to Florida viewers, but that doesn't fit like they're not the most popular team. [SPEAKER_02]: They're on state even. [SPEAKER_02]: I like the magic. [SPEAKER_02]: I like Ben Carroll a lot. [SPEAKER_02]: He's Italian.

[SPEAKER_02]: When in a day, seven is, I don't want to use hyperbolic phrases, you know, a disservice disgrace for something like that, but you can't put it in that low. [SPEAKER_02]: And I know the numbers are never going to be, they're not elite. [SPEAKER_02]: They weren't last year. [SPEAKER_02]: And he's really only had the one year of the elite sack production.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's always been one of those pressures over sack guys. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, did you David and clowning on the edge? [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we never had fifteen sacks in Europe, he's always [SPEAKER_02]: impacting plays, always demanding to blockers. [SPEAKER_02]: I think he's always been one of the most double team dead rusher's. [SPEAKER_02]: That's Quinn and Williams on the interior.

[SPEAKER_02]: You would think that players who know more ball, they forgot more ball than me and Justin will know. [SPEAKER_02]: Like we'll give you that. [SPEAKER_02]: You would think they would recognize the situation Quinn and was in last year and made him appropriately. [SPEAKER_02]: I guess because Aaron Rogers and Robert Salon, Joe Douglas, that whole tornado of chaos, this is part of the shrapnel and part of the racket. [SPEAKER_02]: Does everybody thinks the jets are a tire fire?

[SPEAKER_02]: They normally are. [SPEAKER_02]: And Quinn Williams got shafted as a result. [SPEAKER_02]: I'd imagine Quincy is either coming up soon, or he's not going to be on the list at all, which is a real shame, because these guys are both, I think, top fifty players just based on their own merit. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think this year especially you're going to see that jet stacks.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't want to call it like a jet stack specifically because I don't think it's specific to the jets. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's specific to bad teams get shafted in these rankings. [SPEAKER_02]: Because if you're not a wide receiver or running back or something like that, that can shine through on a bad team. [SPEAKER_00]: Because the last couple of years when there was a bit more hyper on the jets, obviously, the arrival of Aaron Rodgers and then the return of Aaron Rodgers.

[SPEAKER_00]: Twenty twenty three, they had sauce gardener ranked that twenty three. [SPEAKER_00]: Quinn and Williams was at forty. [SPEAKER_00]: CJ Mosley was at forty six. [SPEAKER_00]: Aaron Rodgers was at fifty one. [SPEAKER_00]: Garrett Wilson was at seventy four and our friend, Dalbin Cook. [SPEAKER_00]: It was at ninety one. [SPEAKER_00]: David Cook made the top one hundred as first year at the time. [SPEAKER_02]: I see Jay Mosley recently retired is now becoming an agent.

[SPEAKER_02]: We're starting his own agency. [SPEAKER_00]: That is very awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Good for him. [SPEAKER_00]: And then last year, weirdly enough, I forgot about this Quincy Williams was the jet's highest ranked player at thirty two. [SPEAKER_00]: Then Quinn in at thirty seven. [SPEAKER_00]: So Quinn involves fifty spots.

[SPEAKER_00]: fifty spots every uh... saw skarner somehow fell fifteen spots to thirty eight last year despite also being first team all pro again uh... don't know why that happened he was below two a tongue of a lot so that's funny uh... who could do a top four who did that two is thirty six last year joshy six shot jordan loud was thirty four oh my god is doing even a hundred thirty six [SPEAKER_00]: DBO's, DBO's Samuel was eight spots hired and saw us. [SPEAKER_00]: That's unbelievable.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, good house is crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, and it also last year, Garrett Wilson was seventy two. [SPEAKER_00]: And then his son, Reddick was eighty seven Aaron Rogers ninety two. [SPEAKER_00]: I wish I could have seen him. [SPEAKER_00]: Guess we didn't get to see him. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we don't. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know if we maybe he would have been a top one hundred if he actually played for the jets and didn't hold out for half the year.

[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, all of that is to say, I am not expecting the jets to have as many players ranked this this year. [SPEAKER_00]: Saw Scarner. [SPEAKER_00]: feels like he's like in no world should this even be a debate that he's going to make it? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just concerned that he fell fifteen spots last year when he was, again, arguably, I think his first year is you can make a very strong case that each year he was the best corner back in the NFL.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think the only guy in twenty twenty three that held a candle to him was Jaylon Johnson. [SPEAKER_00]: But the fact that he fell fifteen spots that year when he was still maybe the best corner in football, I'm really worried about where he's going to fall because we [SPEAKER_02]: can all be that low in certain who, I'll give you a baby certain better, but yeah, the fact he's going to be like three or four or five.

[SPEAKER_02]: And sauce is going to be in the, like that can't be right. [SPEAKER_00]: There can't be that wide of a chasm. [SPEAKER_00]: What continues to be astounding to me is the fact that sauce gunner got all this hate for last year for his admittedly down here. [SPEAKER_00]: Like no one is denying that twenty twenty four was not the worst year of sauce gardeners three years in the NFL.

[SPEAKER_00]: Of course his first two years again, he was maybe the best [SPEAKER_00]: corner in football. [SPEAKER_00]: So anything short of that would have been his worst season. [SPEAKER_00]: But he still finished last year with the fewest catches allowed of any corner in football. [SPEAKER_00]: Was still a very good, I mean, I would say a top ten corner back in the NFL.

[SPEAKER_00]: And while the tackling issues were a problem, he only missed four tackles over the last nine games of the year. [SPEAKER_00]: So they got better as the season went on. [SPEAKER_00]: The ten penalties also were an issue that matched his total combined from his first two years. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's also not, like, that's in line with some of the other guys. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Pat Sertan, who was defensive player of the year, had more penalties than Sorskarder did last year.

[SPEAKER_00]: And more on that, that Sertan comparison, because it's, again, crazy to be that Gardner got as much black as he did for his twenty twenty four season. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorskarder allowed three hundred ninety-one coverage yards in twenty twenty four, which was the worst that he had. [SPEAKER_00]: That's his worst season. [SPEAKER_00]: Pat Sertan in twenty twenty three allowed over seven hundred yards in coverage. [SPEAKER_00]: Nobody talks about that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody mentions Pat Sertan's twenty-three season. [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, after twenty-three, despite Sertan being first team all pro consecutive seasons, there were still people saying, oh, Sertan is currently better than Sertan. [SPEAKER_00]: And then Sertan, that was a very popular take. [SPEAKER_00]: Despite the forget, too, if you do the math, that's twenty-three yards again. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Despite Sertan, you just did the math I heard the typing.

[SPEAKER_00]: This guy is so damn tough to call you out. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry Matt teachers. [SPEAKER_02]: I can't do three ninety one by seventeen in my head. [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a writer. [SPEAKER_00]: This is something I had. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but yeah, it's just it's crazy to me that that Sertan has been able to get away with play.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm certainly this is not to despair at Pancertan who absolutely, if you want to say he's the best corner back in the NFL, I will not disagree. [SPEAKER_00]: He just won defense a player of the year and was phenomenal in twenty twenty four. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's just crazy to me that he's probably going to be ranked top fifteen and I'm expecting Gardner.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if he was what thirty eight last year, [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, is he going to be top, he's not going to be top fifty, probably. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if he's falling fifteen spots between twenty twenty two and twenty three or twenty three twenty four, surely he has to fall more this year. [SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know, but I want to see if you can like wear positions rank people.

[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see if offensive interior offensive linemen rank defensive tackles higher than most. [SPEAKER_02]: I bet if you pulled everybody who voted in this thing, you might be, you know, in the sixty-seven, he's whatever. [SPEAKER_02]: I bet if you ask the wide receivers, I bet he's a lot higher than he's going to be. [SPEAKER_00]: As Zachary Burner and Chatsa, the only thing PS-II has over-sauce interceptions. [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.

[SPEAKER_00]: Balls are better, but again, it was better tackler. [SPEAKER_00]: The balls go to the back, technically. [SPEAKER_02]: I've said this before is like tight end blocking in that. [SPEAKER_02]: Like people only, like it's important, obviously, but [SPEAKER_02]: Amongst debate in fans, people only really care about it when they're narrative building. [SPEAKER_02]: Like, remember Kelsey versus grok, argument, oh, Kelsey, get a block. [SPEAKER_02]: That's the only time people.

[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, really, and grok was, was grok obviously, block Kelsey's not a bad block or he's just okay at it. [SPEAKER_02]: That's really when people only care about sources tackling outside of jet fans is to put their tan over him. [SPEAKER_00]: I forgot who said I think I might have been Joe Blue at on Twitter said this the other day where was like remember when when jet fans were falling in love with bless Austin because he was a good taker.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, it's just a good tackle. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he had a few ferocious hits where that I think people like latched on to that. [SPEAKER_00]: I just yeah, I think that's a good good reason that are good example to show like maybe tackling isn't everything what it comes to corners. [SPEAKER_00]: It's important like no no doubt that sauce gardener should be a better tackle. [SPEAKER_00]: He needs to improve when that.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think he did as the year went on, but he's still in my mind a top [SPEAKER_00]: thirty player in the NFL and I think there's more. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there are many more valuable non-corderbacks in the league. [SPEAKER_00]: Then saw Scarner. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why he's going to pay what he's going to get paid.

[SPEAKER_00]: Garrett with an interesting question here he says, where is Vera Tucker, Elijah Vera Tucker on the hundred, he was already with a fourth best guard in the league. [SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't put him that high. [SPEAKER_00]: I think the best guard on the jet last year, I thought Simpson was better. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a fair question. [SPEAKER_00]: I think last year, Vera Tucker had the tenth. [SPEAKER_00]: ISP FF grade amongst guards and I think Simpson was a leaventh.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're both good. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, very tight. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a very good player. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Jets fans out there is rookie. [SPEAKER_00]: You're got a little quick to annoy him as like an all pro caliber player. [SPEAKER_00]: I think right now, he's just a rock solid above average starter. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, bordering maybe in the top ten top fifteen guards.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's going to go in the top under, especially since offensive guards already get snubbed as it is, like even the best of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Creed Humphrey, who's probably maybe the best center in football, probably the best center in football is ninety-third.

[SPEAKER_00]: list below to a below to like that's that's that's Crow who also below he's below Jesse Bates, which is Andrew Van Ginkl, just the ghost of Jesse Bates, Andrew Van Ginkl is a good player, but below hiring Williams, look, I like hiring Williams. [SPEAKER_00]: Creed on me is so much better at his position than hiring Williams as it is. [SPEAKER_00]: Just you know, there's certain positions that gets snubbed. [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, like, guard is going to be one of them.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect any of the jet's offensive linemen to make it because I don't [SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, I don't think the jets have one offensive lineman that is a top one hundred player in the end of hell, but they have five assuming are my member is who the jet's thinking is they have five good ones. [SPEAKER_02]: And looking at the top one hundred two. [SPEAKER_02]: I think the the big injustice that is really going to happen is I think Quincy is going to fall maybe out of it.

[SPEAKER_00]: You think all out all together. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's unreasonable because thirty two last year. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't think it's unreasonable. [SPEAKER_02]: He was not as good last year. [SPEAKER_02]: I agree. [SPEAKER_02]: I think he, his bad year from twenty twenty four was worse than Salsa's decline or Quincy decline or anything like that. [SPEAKER_02]: But there were, I don't really don't think Quincy's like an all pro every year.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was kind of his peak and then he's going to be very, very good for a long time. [SPEAKER_02]: Like I don't know if he's going to ever make another first team all pro ever again. [SPEAKER_02]: So because of that and I think just because of name recognition, I think that CJ Mosley while while still good was not obviously what he was in Baltimore early first couple years with the jets.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think people always lean on the name recognition of Mosley and they go, oh, you know, Quentin was Quincy was inferior to that and then he's going to keep going down. [SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot of factors and his brother, he's not even the best brother on this team.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I think there's going to be, there's a lot of factors we talked about before the show about Zach Allen being that, well, because there's just not a lot of things that pop about him marketing wise and get people learning name, second team. [SPEAKER_00]: He was a big guy. [SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of that works against Quincy. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's fair. [SPEAKER_00]: I would agree if it wasn't for the fact that he was thirty seconds.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like he was the highest grade of playing a jet slash here. [SPEAKER_00]: That's shock. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but are the voters of the top one hundred going to know that. [SPEAKER_00]: I think clearly he had enough name value to be ranked ahead of sauce last year, which is, I mean, that's downright ridiculous to me. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't want to say ridiculous because Quincy Williams was fantastic in twenty twenty three.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you people not remember how good sauce. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it is. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's just not know what they're watching here. [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's just a very popular narrative that he's overrated and that's seeped into some of the players too. [SPEAKER_00]: And they just are like, yeah, he is overrated. [SPEAKER_00]: We agree.

[SPEAKER_02]: And what he plays is the best because you don't have to, like, you can provide the most miniscule points in either way. [SPEAKER_02]: And then you're like, oh, another argument one. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I think that I think when seal end up making it, I think he'll definitely fall a bit. [SPEAKER_00]: And I also, [SPEAKER_00]: I still think Garrett makes it. [SPEAKER_00]: If Garrett Wilson was seven. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's flat.

[SPEAKER_02]: He'll probably be in the seventies. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because he was seventy four in twenty twenty three seventy two in twenty twenty four or I'm sorry, seventy. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, seventy two. [SPEAKER_00]: He should there's nothing that would say he should be not a like what has he done. [SPEAKER_02]: He has the same year. [SPEAKER_02]: He's always had right. [SPEAKER_00]: He's done. [SPEAKER_02]: He's a love and under yards like seven touch. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what he is.

[SPEAKER_00]: making the most of bad quarterback play in a terrible offense overall. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I think there's no reason why he shouldn't be around the same. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Quincy will fall. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think any other players in a roster that haven't been there before sneak in? [SPEAKER_00]: There's one name that immediately comes to mind is somebody who I think would be on the fringe, but I don't think they'll get it. [SPEAKER_00]: That's Jamie and Sherwood.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Jamie and Sherwood. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think on merit. [SPEAKER_00]: If you got it, you would have been in by now. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Sherwood was a, yeah, that's true. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Sherwood was a top one hundred player in the NFL last year. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Sherwood is a very good player. [SPEAKER_00]: I honestly probably was, I think he was bad at Inquince of Williams last year. [SPEAKER_00]: I think he had a better season than Quincy Williams did.

[SPEAKER_00]: Both of them were very good. [SPEAKER_00]: I still think Quincy had a good year. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's so hard when looking at this judge roster because [SPEAKER_00]: Basically everyone regrets life here. [SPEAKER_00]: There are extremely few players who had like actual career years like like John Simpson, Jamie and Sherwood. [SPEAKER_00]: Basically, the only two that immediately come to mind is due to actually. [SPEAKER_00]: I might be it legitimately.

[SPEAKER_02]: I who were like, I don't know if that can occur. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're like, it's a hitman sure, but that's like it's his second year. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, that doesn't really hear the full time starter. [SPEAKER_00]: Like guys who had been, I mean, sure, I guess that was his first year as a full time starter too, so sure you could throw a tip in it there, but it's very few.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas you look at the guys in a roster who are dressed, I mean, it's damn near all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, from Breeze Hall to Saw's Garder, Quinn and Williams, Quincy Williams, DJ Reed at a worse year, Michael Carter, [SPEAKER_00]: fell off a cliff and was dealing with injuries like just. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we'll McDonald, we'll McDonald. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, we'll McDonald's not top on the right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's not going to be.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's, I mean, I get why we'll McDonald's not top on a hundred. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's a top on a drippler in the NFL, but I do think if he was on a better defense and a better team, he would probably be getting that hype. [SPEAKER_02]: He does it again this year. [SPEAKER_02]: They might think about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, probably. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, where do you think because he's almost like a Nick Benito type, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: That's where Nick Benito's probably more versatile than McDonald. [SPEAKER_02]: They they having drop in coverage and like just can't defend the run all Benito. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I, and the, the COVID year Ohio state offense, the argument here is like, oh, competition's good, like every, you know, nobody should, you know, have their spot or it's like, okay, sure, if that was the case, fine, why is it only Joe Tittman? [SPEAKER_00]: Why is literally no other starter on the team? [SPEAKER_00]: Why is no other established starter getting pushed for a starting job? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it just doesn't.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, Tintman was arguably their best offensive lineman last year. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was a very, very good player. [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a top-sten center in football. [SPEAKER_00]: Josh Myers is three and a half, four years of backup to bad starting caliber tape. [SPEAKER_00]: I really don't understand that at all. [SPEAKER_02]: Which is funny too, because like,

[SPEAKER_02]: like if you look at the offensive line like it's the worst of the five is probably fascia new but it's like oh he's on first round pick he can't you know it's fascia newer member who just based on what they've done already but obviously the ceiling for those guys is extremely high so let's go talk move on talking about some good players to some bad players guys that are on the roster right now that there's a pretty good chance they're not going to be on the roster maybe some surprises because feel like every year there's always one where like man they got rid of that guy that guy's on the practice squad

[SPEAKER_02]: It was about a rich semini thing where they were talking about a Malachi corolle specifically, and that's one of my guys, of course, which is funny, because I don't know if you read the semini article guys, but he basically said, remember how Malachi corolle no matter what, and he trade up to get him, and everybody's pumped.

[SPEAKER_02]: Supposedly, the coaching staff was not sold on him because he's not a good route runner. [SPEAKER_02]: And it won't, it's cheap. [SPEAKER_02]: Wow, fish only live in water. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm so surprised by this.

[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's so... [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if that's solid Douglas in competency or just they thought they knew he was a bad rat runner, but I didn't think he was this bad or what it was, but sounds like they immediately sourd on on the second, like hack and bird level, they're like, let's watch him play and they watch him for a week. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh crap. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I think happened.

[SPEAKER_02]: And if you look at this roster right now, they're probably going to carry six wide receivers I bet on their fifty three man. [SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, five of the spots are pretty locked up. [SPEAKER_02]: because Garrett Reynolds, Garrett Reynolds, Josh Reynolds, and Allen Lazard, those are the three stars.

[SPEAKER_02]: Unless they traded Lazard, which I think is less likely now, because I thought that once the stealers got Rogers, they tried to make that move, they didn't end up doing that, they got Johnny Smith. [SPEAKER_02]: So I think he sticks around. [SPEAKER_02]: So those are three. [SPEAKER_02]: Tyler Johnson four. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they get rid of him barring just a calamitous preseason where he can't do anything right. [SPEAKER_02]: Which I don't think that'll happen.

[SPEAKER_02]: Aaron Smith, that's five. [SPEAKER_02]: And then it's one other spot. [SPEAKER_02]: And there's earth Charles. [SPEAKER_02]: There's Xavier Gibson. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a couple guys. [SPEAKER_02]: I really think this organization, the new guys, Glenn, angstron. [SPEAKER_02]: Part of me thought, you know what? [SPEAKER_02]: They would go and say, you know what? [SPEAKER_02]: He can't be this bad. [SPEAKER_02]: There's no way he can be this bad.

[SPEAKER_02]: And he might be done after a year and the image might be dropping that ball at the one yard line, which I always hate lose response, which is like, I've scored a million touchdowns. [SPEAKER_02]: That's not what you do. [SPEAKER_02]: So the confluence of bad circumstances, I think it's looking worse and worse for Corly by the day. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the optics of that response, I think given how his jets crew and gone to that point were not particularly great long says the free.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like kind of like a Christian hack and earth situation where you get him in the building, you compare him to the player you have in the roster and you see him in person and you realize, oh, this guy can't play or at least he can't play to the extent that we thought he could. [SPEAKER_02]: It's just weird because hack and bird was at least a crazy mega outlier region. [SPEAKER_02]: Malachi, Corley, they picked him sixty five.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of where a lot of analysts had him peg. [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, a lot of them lower a lot of them had him in the fit forty's fifties. [SPEAKER_00]: It is especially damning. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, for multiple reasons, one, the no matter what situation the Vanta, you know, that that whole situation publicly in on them.

[SPEAKER_00]: So publicly, and they leaked to the media afterwards that they had him ranked as their fourth wide receiver, which means he was ahead of Brian Thomas, ahead of Lad McConkey, like that they publicly leaked that information for a reason. [SPEAKER_00]: So to have all of that go on and then to bring him into camp and immediately realize, oh, this guy is actually a really bad route runner. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, how did we not pick up on that?

[SPEAKER_00]: When watching this film, that's damning to me. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that is crazy. [SPEAKER_00]: And if you want to point to literally one reason why that entire front office should have been swept out after last year, that's the reason why I mean, there's more you could point to as well. [SPEAKER_00]: But that right there, my God, and the coaching staff as well, whoever was involved in that evaluation process. [SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, with you Mike, I think there's a decent chance. [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I would say a good chance that he is not on the fifth of your men roster. [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a better chance that he's not than he is. [SPEAKER_00]: He also missed time this spring. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know if he's going to be ready for training camp. [SPEAKER_00]: That has not been made clear.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was dealing with an undisclosed injury, you know, TAs and he didn't practice at all in many camp. [SPEAKER_00]: Nobody knows what that injury is. [SPEAKER_00]: You assume he'll be ready for training camp, but we don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: And any snap, he's not getting in front of this new regime and in front of this new coaching staff to prove his worth and prove he deserves a roster spot. [SPEAKER_00]: That is very, very damaging.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think Tyler Johnson probably makes it as that as that fourth fifth guy, Irene Smith, obviously locking the spot. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Tyler Johnson makes it. [SPEAKER_00]: He's not guaranteed. [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't only has like two hundred K guaranteed in his contracts that they could cut him.

[SPEAKER_00]: But he's probably more likely to make it than like he'll need to make so many mistakes to yeah I agree and then that last spot is special teams whether that's gonna be or Charles whether that's Jamal Pritch it whether that's Xavier Gibson a one or two spots those six or seven spots those are gonna be all down to who can contribute on special teams I'm hoping that Aryan Smith is also able to contribute on special teams and not be a mall like I Corly and be a healthy scratch every game because I'm not sure

[SPEAKER_00]: how much is going to play on offense early in his career. [SPEAKER_00]: I would like for him to be able to contribute on special teams. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's something to keep an eye on. [SPEAKER_02]: Looking at other super quick though, of course, one last thing. [SPEAKER_02]: To avoid having a void becoming an our dairy store where he just never plays ever again, and no team even really took a shot on him, which I thought was interesting.

[SPEAKER_02]: That happens a lot with the jets. [SPEAKER_02]: Not only do guys not work out with them, but they don't even like bounce around the league on practice gloves. [SPEAKER_02]: They just disappear Calvin prior. [SPEAKER_02]: But [SPEAKER_02]: One of the things I think is going to happen. [SPEAKER_02]: He's going to go to a team like Washington, I think, where up tempo offense get the got ball in your hands quick. [SPEAKER_02]: I think he needs to go to a situation like that.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to have any shot or I think he maybe just goes full court aeropaterson and converts to running back. [SPEAKER_02]: I think one of those two things happens. [SPEAKER_00]: It's weird. [SPEAKER_00]: It's weird to me, because the thing with Cordero is they knew he couldn't be as he could play running back because he was an all-pro return man. [SPEAKER_00]: Corly can't even do that. [SPEAKER_00]: Corly can't even get a return job.

[SPEAKER_00]: Because looking at the roster, there's just so many guys competing for spots that I don't think there's many like genuine surprises, right? [SPEAKER_00]: But one name that somebody mentioned in chat that I know a lot of jet sounds would be happy if he's caught.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it would be a surprise. [SPEAKER_00]: Garrett Goodlander said, hopefully Michael Clemens. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about Michael Clemens. [SPEAKER_00]: I think right now, Michael Clemens is the locked in number one top backup defensive end on the jet's roster. [SPEAKER_00]: And just a couple of minutes. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it is not because that jet's defensive end room, the depth behind Will McDonald and a still recovering from a torn Achilles Germaine Johnson is very bad.

[SPEAKER_00]: It is brutal. [SPEAKER_00]: So I think right now, Michael Clemens is the top guy. [SPEAKER_00]: But there's also no guarantee that he sticks around. [SPEAKER_00]: I believe he has no more money guaranteed in his contract because he's in the last year of his rookie deal. [SPEAKER_00]: So the jet's could cut out where he has very few, you know, they would take on less than two hundred K in dead gap if I got him. [SPEAKER_00]: So basically nothing.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have fifth round rookie Tyler Baron in that room. [SPEAKER_00]: You have Rashad Weaver, who they picked up from the Titans. [SPEAKER_00]: He's been making some plays in the spring. [SPEAKER_00]: We take that for what you will. [SPEAKER_00]: It's spring practices. [SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to evaluate trench play. [SPEAKER_00]: And then a few UDFA guys from last year, Eric Watts, Braden McGregor. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of names in that room.

[SPEAKER_00]: There are extremely few proven things. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's unlikely that Clemins gets cut, especially because Germaine Johnson is working his way back from the Tornado Killies. [SPEAKER_00]: Even if he's ready to be expected to be ready for week one, [SPEAKER_00]: You have to plan for him, maybe not to be getting a hundred percent of snaps, or at least the same snap count that he would be getting if he was fully healthy, at least early in the year.

[SPEAKER_00]: But that being said, Clemens isn't very good. [SPEAKER_00]: He was one of the lowest-graded Ed rushers in football last year. [SPEAKER_00]: He's a bad-pass rusher and doesn't really offer anything as a run defender either. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a world where he gets outplayed by guys like Tyler Baron, a Rashad Weaver, and Narek Watts, and whoever, and if he does, he's not guaranteed anything. [SPEAKER_00]: He's not making the roster if he gets outplayed by those guys.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right now he's just the incumbent, he's the de facto top backup defensive end, but I definitely know that he's a roster lock by anyways. [SPEAKER_02]: Looking at Clemens, he's a byproduct of, you're not going to overturn this whole roster in one off season. [SPEAKER_02]: You can't fix all the holes in one off season.

[SPEAKER_02]: So they decided what we're going to do is focus on offensive line tight end, which is why Membo and Mason Taylor and two degrees R.A. [SPEAKER_02]: Thomas got picked as high as they did. [SPEAKER_02]: And they said next year, we're going to go work on the defensive line. [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to go through string and duct tape and just spit and saw us.

[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to [SPEAKER_02]: put together a kind of a patchwork defensive line holding together for a year odds are one of these guys will show us something one of these veterans that they bring on and the next year will start a more earnest rebuild the defensive line as Garic good laners has had Riley give Eric Watts the roster spot he's a good run defender [SPEAKER_02]: I like that defensive one.

[SPEAKER_02]: Leonard Taylor is the one I really want to see be guaranteed a roster spot. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think he's better than Michael Clemins right now, just as a defensive lineman, I don't know, they have different roles, but I think Leonard Taylor is certainly more productive right now. [SPEAKER_02]: He came into the draft cycle with a ton of hype. [SPEAKER_02]: And I think he showed that he shouldn't have gone on drafted. [SPEAKER_02]: That was a big mistake.

[SPEAKER_02]: Clemins is big guy, strong guy. [SPEAKER_02]: A guy I would not want to, I don't like saying bad things about because [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to get on that guys, but he just never developed the athleticism, the classic tweener, classic tweener, dictionary definition, never got the speed that they needed to put it at the edge full time.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then Robert Salle actually tried to be from up a little bit, but he lost even more of what little speed he had when he tried to do that. [SPEAKER_02]: And as strong as he is, he's not like [SPEAKER_02]: Freakish John Randall strong for a size where he just can over just pull people out of the way. [SPEAKER_02]: He's not that kind of guy.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I give the jets they tried everything to make a work and I guarantee you if they cut them loose, I bet you San Francisco brings him in next year. [SPEAKER_02]: Because Robert's house is going to go, you know what, I think I could finally fix of you did that with Ken Law. [SPEAKER_02]: Might do with Michael Clemens.
