Joe Exotic may be a larger-than-life character in “Tiger King,” but even he’s not immune to COVID-19. As you know, he’s currently serving 22 years for a murder-for-hire plot against his archenemy, Carole Baskin.
According to Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin, the directors of the Netflix docuseries, the man also known as Joe Maldanado-Passage – who was recently transferred from a county jail to a federal penitentiary in Texas – is in isolation. Because there was a coronavirus outbreak at the county jail, they isolated him after the transfer.
At this point, it’s not known if Joe tested positive for it because he’s currently cut off from phones.
ONE MORE THNG! If “Tiger King” makes it to Hollywood – and apparently there are already talks about it – Joe knows whom he’d want to play him. His choices are Brad Pitt or “Joe Dirt” star David Spade.
When we eventually get back to flying, don't forget to ask the pilot if they restarted the plane recently. The US Federal Aviation Administration has ordered Boeing 787 operators to switch their aircraft off and on every 51 days to prevent what it called "several potentially catastrophic failure scenarios" – including the crashing of onboard network switches. This directive is due to be enforced later this month and it calls for all airlines to power-cycle their B787s before the aircraft reaches the specified days of continuous power-on operation. The power cycling is needed to prevent stale data from populating the aircraft's systems, a problem that has occurred on different 787 systems in the past. Otherwise, pilots could be reading a "display of misleading data" with that data including airspeed, altitude, and engine operating indications.
If there is one positive that can come from this pandemic it's that dogs and cats may live a little bit longer. At least in one Chinese city, which just banned eating dogs and cats during the coronavirus outbreak. Officials in Shenzhen, which is about 16 miles from Hong Kong, announced the new law that will go into effect on May 1. They said, “Dogs and cats as pets have established a much closer relationship with humans than all other animals, and banning the consumption of dogs and cats and other pets is a common practice in developed countries and in Hong Kong and Taiwan.”
Sunday is National Deep Dish Pizza Day, and one of the greatest debates in history remains: “New York style pizza vs Chicago Deep Dish.” No one is going to solve that question today, but lovers of the deep stuff will rejoice: April 5th is the day to cheer deep-dish goodness.
Has anyone tried this hack? Apparently it makes a big difference when you order pizza. Especially pizza with really good crust.
The next time you order, ask them NOT to cut it into slices. Here's why . . .
As soon as they cut it, the oil and sauce start dripping down and soaking into the crust. So by the time it gets to you, the crust is much soggier than it was when they took it out of the oven.
Apparently it makes a bigger difference with higher-end pizza. It doesn't matter as much at places like Domino's where the crust is already kinda soft. (That said, the Domino's website has a tab that makes it easy to order your pizza "uncut.")
If you don't have a pizza cutter at home, there are some cheap ones on Amazon for about ten bucks. Or just use a big knife or kitchen shears.
It also sounds like it might make sense in this post-coronavirus world we now live in. Less hands touching your pizza can't be a bad thing, right?
HBO announced Thursday that they are making over 500 hours of programming free beginning April 3 via their HBO Go and HBO Now streaming platforms.
The network says it’s doing so “to provide some entertainment relief for those doing their part to keep everyone safe and healthy in this time of social isolation.”
Among the original shows that will be available are classics like The Sopranos, The Wire, True Blood and Six Feet Under, and newer shows like Succession, Veep, Silicon Valley, Ballers, and Barry.
The network is also making new Warner Brothers features and documentaries available, including The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Pokemon Detective Pikachu, Empire of the Sun, and Crazy, Stupid, Love.
