Brian Sauerwald | The Art of Live Performance and Importance of Experimentation
Episode description
Happy Music Monday! We're back!
Brian Sauerwald is an eclectic singer, songwriter, producer, engineer, rapper, and multi-instrumentalist. He majored in Music Industry, was an opera student, and part of an a cappella group, The Madison Singers, at James Madison University. He performs countless live shows around the DMV area and is planning to move to Nashville very soon to pursue his music career further. He recently released his debut album, 'Testing the Waters', and it has something for everybody. I hope you take the time to listen to it.
In this episode, we talked about persistence, the art of live performance, the importance of experimentation, Brian's creative process, taking inspiration and making it unique to yourself, takeaways from his time in an a cappella group, his perspective on competitive environments, being the world's biggest John Mayer fan, the difference between honest and vulnerable songwriting, downfalls of being an A tier artist, the beauty of music constantly evolving, controversy surrounding autotune, and whether or not you should separate the artist and the art.
And of course, Brian gives your weekly underrated artist, songwriter, and producer suggestions!
