Helaine Olen is an Opinion writer for the Washington Post. She has written on topics including politics, economics, workplace culture, and women's issues. Her work has been publishing in the New York Times,  The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic Salon, Pacific Standard, and The Los Angeles Times. She is also the author of Pound Foolish: Exposing the Dark Side of the Personal Finance Industry and The Index Card: Why Personal Finance Doesn't have to be so complicated. 

Helaine and I had some disagreements, but I truly appreciate our ability to be civil and kind to one another. This country is based on respectful disagreement, so I was happy to do just that here.
