Barb Griffith with Community Living, Inc.

Barb Griffith is the President and CEO of Community Living, Inc. located in St. Charles County, Community Living enriches the lives of people with disabilities so they can achieve their highest potential through the provision of services and programs to children and adults with disabilities that allow them to live, learn, work and play in the community. Barb joined the staff of Community Living in 1986. In 1998, she was named Executive Director; in 2005, the position evolved to President and CEO.

She “happened into” this field in 1978 when a friend offered her a job at an institution for people with developmental disabilities.  She fell in love with the individuals they served; they enriched her life in so many ways.  But she was appalled by the way the residents were treated.  This was the beginning of the “de-institutionalization” movement in the disabilities field.  It had a profound impact on her – and thus began her passion to build awarenes
