Episode description

Twenty years ago this week marked the beginning of one of Ireland's most divisive murder cases. The shooting of John 'Frog' Ward, by the Mayo farmer Padraig Nally. It was a case that inspired a media frenzy, owing in no small part to the fact that the farmer had become the first person to be tried for murder in Mayo in over a century. In today's episode, we revisit the death of John 'Frog' Ward, the polarising reaction to the trial and the significant legal implications it inspired. Host: Tabitha Monahan | Guest: Cróna Esler (author of ‘Unless By Invitation: Crimes That Shocked Ireland’)
