Intro / Opening

Hi, everyone, and welcome to episode 217 of the In Kicks We Trust podcast.

Eagles Takeover Episode

I am here with just me from the In Kicks We Trust podcast. So we're going to do a fun little takeover episode. You've heard us talk about my affinity for the Philadelphia Eagles. So we're going to have a Philadelphia Eagles takeover this week. So this is going to be the In Eagles We Trust podcast episode. So we're joined by three Eagles fans. So we're joined by Pete. Goes by PeteyDom23 on Instagram. Miller, Mr. Underscore Miller 1, I believe it is. Right, Miller?

Yes, sir. And we're joined by Andy, AD Underscore Sneaks. How's it going? All very big Eagles fans. Appreciate you guys just taking the time tonight. Appreciate the invite. Yeah, of course. We're all very excited about the Eagles win, so we're just going to go through a couple things this week. So we're going to start off with our favorite Eagles shoe and or what we wore for the Super Bowl win last week. So, Miller, why don't we start with you?

Well, Ben, I tried to post mine, but I think I might have missed the week. But anyway, I'm going to run through what I wore through our whole playoff run. So the first shoot, first playoff game, we kept it comfortable. We went to ASIC, July NYC. I started the playoff with that one. Just wanted to start real comfortable, real clean. Kept the kelly vibe going the next game i'll end up pulling out i end up pulling out the.

What shoe did i pull out ah i pulled out the concept green lobsters was the main one i pulled out that was for the next game so we had to pull out those that's a classic to go with the midnight green the next game i had to pull out kept his kobe we went with the girl dad who went with the Covey's, we went that one. And then for the Super Bowl, we pulled the Jalen Hurts. I went with the Jordan 4RM Nigels. I went with one of the green fair and one with the black fair. So we went mismatched.

And then the celebratory shot that I took, that I had on that was the Jordan, the green 14s. I said I was the green 14s. I had those joints. That was the last time I had really kind of worn those all day. For long wear I had those out for celebratory that's what I had man that's the run to the chip.

Very nice very nice indeed I actually only wore I have one eagle suit and that's it I'm going to put it in the chat for you it's just a general release pair of 90s that I picked up, Man, I was kind of mad because after the week, I mean, I did a whole run. I needed to do a whole shot of just, like, all the green pairs I had from the threes to the Zoom ones. So even that Air Penny that came out, that Kelly Green Penny came out this year. That was really nice. Oh, yeah. That's great. Yeah. Yeah.

That was a little sleep when it came out, you know. Yeah. So, like, I put mine in the chat. So I have it. It's my Air Max 90. I call it the Eagles. The technical colorway is Midnight Fog. So I don't think it's exactly Midnight Green, but it's very, very close. Gets a Miller accrued. Yeah, so that was a nice little 50-day pickup when I worked at Foot Locker. I think I picked those up for like $40 or something like that.

So that's a no-go. If you look at the picture, you can see the paint's cracking a little bit on the outsole there. But that's been the go-to for the last four weeks. I like it. Go with it. PD, what about you? Man, Miller pulling out the entire postseason run. I don't even remember what I did yesterday. Hey, man, I had to, bro. We knew what we were going to do this year. No, I know, I know. Sorry, man. I had to chronicalize this run.

No, I've been annoying my entire family. I even went to the office a little bit, you know, with the Eagles gear and the Eagles, not Eagles shoes per se, but, you know, at least matching it a little bit. So, you know, Jordan 4 is oxidized green. I'm surprised how comfortable those are. So I actually wore those a few times. But I even pulled out the Emerald Green 2008 MX95. So I'm surprised it didn't pop. Probably my favorite Eagles shoe, like an actual Eagles shoe.

I did pull out the Shady trainers from that 2000. Damn, when was that? Nice. Okay. I mean, they're the gym shoes, but I mean, still, they got the Eagles sign on them and 25 on the side. And then the AMX 95 Eagles, the 95 draft day ones. They don't say Eagles at all on them, but, you know, they have like a midnight green panel on them, the Kelly Green panel, you know, on Grady. And then I don't wear the insoles because I don't want to mess up the eagle sign on the heel so those are in the box.

I've got my Air Max 1 to 6 here right beside me and I've got the insoles for those taken out of those too you either do that or you just tape them but I don't you know if you remove the tape then rip someone off so you know, for a different insole we're good and for your actual like Super Bowl day I went all Jalen Hurts I got the media day fleece you know tech fleece Pants and the Concords. Which ones were they? Probably 45.

Oh, yeah. I loved that. That was actually really nice. You did the try to do the little Jalen Hurts look for it. Yeah. Very nice. I don't know if Andy has them, but I wish I had, you know, a few of my friends have those the Eagles trainers, the bow nose ones. I wish I had those.

I don't even have those. I wish John got those. John got the Air Max 91 that was cool I remember when they pulled that joint I remember when they pulled that joint, Because everybody was looking for him, and they pulled that, and certain people got it. That's why the opportunity to get him after they got pulled, I'm like, I don't want to spend $400, but now they're. Man, I wish I would have known. I stayed. He was the only person, and I almost had him talk him down.

He wouldn't let him go, though. No, not now, man. That's a grill of mine. That's a grill. Very nice, Pete. Andy, what about you? what we rocking before the for the Super Bowl and after we won? So for me, I'm a little bit superstitious. Like I swear, anytime that I wear any Eagles gear during game day, they play like garbage. So I was very apprehensive at the start of the playoffs because I was nervous.

I mean, the last few seasons been hella nervous last year, more so just because, you know, offensive and defensive coordinator did not know what the hell they were doing. So I'm very thankful that this year, you know, we got our, we got our stuff together. I mean, except for Kellen Moore is gone now, but you know, thank you for doing what you did. Yeah. But leading up to the Superbowl, I wore the SB Jordan fours. I can't remember which week I wore that one, but I wore that with a throwback

starter jacket. You guys remember the starter jackets that they used to have? I think it was homage, but we released those and was able to pick up one of those and love that jacket. For Super Bowl day, I wasn't wearing shoes in the house. My wife would have killed me if I was wearing shoes in the house. So the day leading up to it, I wore the Nigel Jordan 4RMs, the green ones, and I was wearing my Nick Foles jersey. You know, had to bring some luck with good old Nick Foles from the last one.

Good old Nick, man. And then after we won, man, I was still running around the house excited in my socks. all. The socks were white. They were crispy, fresh, white socks. I was like, man, we got to do a new pair of socks today. Just got to keep it clean. Nothing dirty. Clean, white pair of socks. They were dirty at the end because I ran out my front yard and, you know, hollering at the neighborhood just a little bit, you know, to piss the people off.

That's what it is to be an Eagles fan, right? Yeah, I mean, pissing people off. That's our MO, right? Like, that's what we do. No one likes this. No one, man. Lots of great pairs. I love to hear what everyone wears for, like, Eagles shoes. There's actually quite a few in there that you guys mentioned that I completely forgot about. So, we'll have to circle back on a few of those. Yeah, when Miller said the green lobsters, that one's like creme de la creme. Like, that one I thought about.

But since I'm doing my, I wear a different pair every single day in the classroom this year. I was like, man, I can't wear those. I can't wear those during the week. I want to. I want to wear those with a jersey to school. Flex on these middle school kids. Yeah, man, I had to pull those out. That was the game. I think that was the game I had went to a friend's house. And I was really kind of talking. But I remember pulling them out because I got the special box with mine.

I just remember getting secure in that pair and it's like, it's always one of, it's like my lucky shoe, like you were saying. We all have that lucky shoe, like we don't want to change up the pattern, like don't do this, like I'm superstitious, I'm a baseball player, so I'm superstitious as hell, like I don't want to change nothing, I'll eat the same meal, I'll wash the socks in a seat, I'm that type of person.

Yeah I mean that's that's how I am that's why I never like during the regular season, like I was I couldn't ever watch like the first quarter of an Eagles game during the season because I swear every time I did they would play awful and and it just wouldn't work I'm like okay I'm just gonna check the score on my phone and if it's favorable I'll turn on the rest of the game and see how it goes and if you know and then they played well that way

but every time I'd watch the whole game during the regular season something bad would happen don't want to bring that bad juju either. It changes every year what it is. It does. This year for me, are you watching the game, man? Are you watching the game? Don't tell me. Don't tell me. I don't want to hear nothing. It's funny, right? We all have those little superstitions because for me, it was literally the pants, the socks, and ironically enough, the underwear I was wearing. The whole playoffs.

Hopefully you washed that underwear. I did. I did. I did. I washed it after every week. But it was like I had to have that pair clean for every game. Like specifically going out of my way to do laundry to make sure that that outfit was clean every Sunday for the playoffs. Was set ready to go. Yeah. I mean, that's how I've always been with sports, though. Like always superstitious with stuff. And, you know, and then like the rational sidekicks.

And it's like I'm one person. Like, I am not controlling the fate of this team, but I'm still going to do this because it makes me, like, feel better mentally. What I do has nothing to do with how many touchdowns Jalen Hurts is going to throw today. It has everything to do with it. Exactly. See, another thing I was doing this year, kind of way, you know, is I had Fancy Football. blah. So I had Jalen and Saquon as my two top fantasy people this year.

Though I didn't win because Jalen got hurt in the Washington game and that was a game for me to come back in the playoffs. But it was, I watched every minute of it. I just didn't it was something about this season I know we'll talk about when we became super, super fans or when we became fans. But this season was special. You just knew it. I don't know if it was – I knew the Saquon thing was big. I knew that. But it was like you saw a team.

When we saw a most journey, I think we all chatted through our – not even through DMs, but just through conversations through our posts. We all kind of saw it. Last year was tough on us. Like, last year, it didn't feel well to start so good and end so poorly. But this year, you saw from training camp, we had dogs. It was like that whole team was different. It was different. Like, the games we locked when we were 2-2, and we was kind of like, what are we going to do?

My hands weren't shaking. I was telling them my friends, like I was sending them that TikTok. My hands, is they shaking to you? Like, it was like I was not because it was different. Like, you knew how we felt last year. I didn't feel like we were going to have it. This year was so different, and I had a lot more fun. Like, I think that was one of the things I didn't experience last year with the season. It just wasn't fun. It was drooling and like, come on.

And this year was like put them in the dirt put them in the dirt and it was just it was so much man i got my i got two of my darkest jerseys that i that i've been hot i wanted to spend money because it was so much fun being a bird again like i was i never hide from being a bird you know what i'm saying we don't hide we don't dump no smoke but you know it was something like because it was like everybody

knew we weren't living up for what we you know what we was doing but this year, I was like, nah, you get a jersey, you get a hoodie, I'm getting some more shoes, and that's the fun, like, it's, and Sneakhead, you know, we said, I was like, everything gotta be green. The wife got Super Bowl shoes, like, it was like, she got the Pops of Air Max one re-release, like, it was everybody's green.

Yeah. Last year was tough. It was really tough to watch us go down like that, especially after having such a good start to the season, and just this year was just, it was really nice. It was, you know, didn't start off quite the way we wanted it to, but, you know, after we went on a, what, 10-game winning streak, I think it was there. Yeah. It just, it was, it felt so, it was like, this is the team. This is what they should have looked like last year.

We should have been 4-1 at the beginning of the season. Let's keep it on fire. Yeah. Like, we not, with the whole different, it's. I know, like, We can look at a couple of the males and we like, you know, we shouldn't have lost that game. You know, even the jailer went down with a concussion game. Devont, that can't make 100. Yeah. Yeah. It's still buried Washington. Which I was in the dirt. You know, we was already up 21.

When he went down, like, what are we talking about here? You think we were going to stop? Like, it was just like, my hands didn't shake this year, boys. Yeah. Everything's about to happen, you know? Let them have it. Yeah, we had to. I ain't going to tell you what's going to happen next year when we get started but right now, gentlemen my hands are not named and shaking I don't see them shaking any time of shoot, I don't know about y'all.

I like the way this team is constructed I have to say it, they're built for the now, they're built for the future I am excited to see where we go with this, Absolutely, and you know I think the difference between last year and this year, I don't even remember who our defensive coordinator last year. I know Brian Johnson was the offensive coordinator, and he was awful. Oh, so it was not, right? Yeah. But then, yeah, what happened was, I don't even remember his name.

The old Patriots and then Lions defensive coordinator, the one that Slay hates. Yeah, I can't remember. But, I mean, what a difference coordinators make, right? Like, you get two new coordinators in, and, yeah, there's some growing pains. We saw that the first four weeks of the season. But then when it started clicking, man, it started clicking. And it was fun to watch the whole season, especially in the playoffs. Because I remember watching the NFC Championship game.

Against Washington. And, you know, seeing everybody talking, it's like, oh, Jaden Daniels, like he's the next it and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And Washington got him last time. And I'm like, yeah, but Jalen Hurts was out that game. And, you know, defense wasn't playing super great either. And then I just had a feeling going in that they would just lock in and take care of business.

And that game was enjoyable to watch almost as much as the Super Bowl was enjoyable to watch because I mean they put defense just clamped up everything that game and that was that was so satisfying for me and even in the Super Bowl right like the defense yes like you could not have a better performance in the Super Bowl like what was it what was it Miller was 20 was it 24 yards we were talking about in the first half 23 yards first 23 yards first half for first half 23 yards like yeah I had had

Mahomes looking like a third string quarterback It was a thing of beauty. Yeah, like it was crazy to watch because you go into that game and you're nervous, right? I mean, you know, we had two years ago when we lose, right? Like, you know, and I said this earlier and I've said this to a few people too, right? Like I just felt like the Kansas City Chiefs were inevitable this year. Like it just, no matter what, because statistically they did not have a good season.

No one had a good season. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey, none of them had a great season. But somehow they won every week and they were just finding ways to win. And my fear was that we were going to get into a game with them and that was going to be the case. That somehow they squeak out a win. Like they squeaked out in 2022 or 20, I guess it was 23, two years ago, right? So it was so satisfying to see the D just come out and just get to Patrick Mahomes

on every single play. Yes. You're getting into that point where you're... when that D stepped up I mean I just think it was just I just didn't think Casey was even with that guard or that tackle that was out I just don't think they was prepared I don't think that offensively they were prepared they ran less than 10 plays running, like you're gonna rely they did not run the ball, they were relying on pure of most and they had nothing to go off.

So like Andy Reid 2002, man. There was nothing that they should have took in that last Super Bowl that should have left them with this type of lackadaisical, performance because they didn't respect us. They just didn't. The performance was like, we had already even with that first Super Bowl that we lost, it's on record, go watch the tape. The first Super Bowl we lost, we went toe to toe, like Jeff Thank you.

Kalen outplayed Mahomes this year. So we come into this game again with a better defense. Look at that roster we had when we lost. Look at it now. It was night and day. They didn't even run the ball. They didn't even run the ball. It was like they had given up. I'm sorry. For me, I was not scared all season. I knew after week five what we was going to do. I knew in the first drive what we was going to do for the rest of the game. I knew we built the ad. I knew the first draft.

That was me. And it's just nice to see all that come together, right? Like, it's just nice to see that, like, everything is clicking. And the funny thing is, is that the only thing that wasn't clicking was Saquon. They couldn't get the run game going. But they were so good everywhere else, it was like, you know what? Who cares? And I said this, you know, earlier in the playoffs. I'm like, someone, one game is going to just decide that Saquon Barkley is not going to run the ball on them.

But that's okay because, you know, it's going to burn them. It's going to burn them, and so is A.J. Brown, and so is Devontae Smith. I think the beautiful thing about Saquon, like, I was talking with one of my friends about this, and it's like, he was like, oh, yeah, they bottled Saquon up. He had a terrible game. I was like, no, he didn't have a terrible game. Like, Kansas City was keying on him the whole time.

Like if you go back and watch that play that when Jalen threw that ball to Devontae for the touchdown like when they were in that play action look how many Chiefs players just crashed like oh here's Saquon, and I mean I think they were keying on him most of the game and that just opened up the pass game tremendously.

Yeah that was making him to lose I mean that's the whole that was the whole narrative of the of Super Bowl it was the whole narrative of the season of disrespecting Jalen Barts Like you didn't have to play him in 2023, you know? Yeah, it was like, what are we talking about here? I didn't understand the narrative that had been said about our quarterback. I thought it was just highly problematic because we look at the tape. The tape don't lie. We're judging these players by what they put on tape.

So you saw the first time we played. Then these Kansas City fans want to miraculously forget about the rematch we had the following year. Who won that game? Who won that game? so we're just going to forget about that we won that game okay cool we didn't make it to the Super Bowl that year but we got back again.

So it was like what was the narrative around him not being a good quarterback was like y'all were betting on him to repeat himself and I think that was the whole disrespect the whole year like get that man he's not asked to do what, Josh Allen or Burrow or he's not asked to do that in the offense. He's got weapons. He's got options. You know what I'm saying? He can run the ball. You saw Kaelin and Moore at the

beginning of the year and he tried to throw it. It was like, no, it's got to go to Saquon. Once they figured out that that ball got to go to him, if that makes the passing game easier, it was great. It was like, okay, who do you pick your poison. You got Dallas at the tight end. You got Cal Couture at the other tight end. You can even throw in Johnny Wilson. Then you got Turnaround and you got AJ. You got Smith on the side. I'm sorry. People can disrespect Dr. Ali.

Y'all can go right ahead. Buddy's slick with him. He's a good man. He's slick. I'm fine with keeping him at the three.

You know what I'm saying? Developing some of those. you know what i'm saying it was like what we're talking about here you don't see no other opposite with all with all four skilled positions yeah you said it man like joe harrow has to you know create you know he has to depend on you know skiing he has to like you know he has to wait till people get open on fourth and one like a fourth and two he has to like create something like with us like you just gotta let somebody

win a one-on-one you know or if somebody's double cover, throw it to the uncovered man. It's crazy. Jalen can do whatever he wants. Win however he wants. In the spirit of In Kicks We Trust, how about Jordan Brand, the way they're, taking this and running with it, too? I love that commercial. Yeah, this marketing is the best sport since they featured Carmelo. Yeah. The wife is making me that John man hoodie. That's nice, man. Love hurts.

So good the love hurts with the jump man i was like uh i was like i got a good shot up, and then the band shoes hoodie like they gotta make oh yeah i was like with that hoodie with his he got a little logo on his on the arm like i'm like i put it on his page i was like this should have dropped yesterday like we should have had all this yesterday because that was the only thing that i wanted from the whole super bowl was that that look that's all the thing i was waiting on was at Love Hurts.

I was like, I don't care how much it is. Get it to me. Get it to me. I'm walking past the new Jordan store. They had nothing in the window at all. He was in the Super Bowl. They got the Love Hurts stuff. I'm like, people didn't even know it was a Jordan store yet. They really did a good job on that. And the fact that he had the hoodie with the cleats that were banned was actually very ironic because obviously they fined him for his mismatched cleats.

And then the banned one cleats that he wore when he went out to practice before the game. That was a nice one. Man, I know they were custom. I know they were a custom pair, but man, so nice. That was perfect. Perfect. Like wearing those pregame and then playing the game that he played, like, I mean, you couldn't have written that story better. Like it was it was just perfect.

And all the story about like he's got that phone, but his phone backgrounds and the picture of him walking off the field with the confetti falling when he lost. Like all that stuff, like he just and you could you could just see it when he came out. You could just see he was focused and he was ready to go. Yeah, and I was like, after he threw that pass to Devontae, I was like, you know, Twitter fingers started coming out for me. Yeah, man.

And I was all over Twitter. I was like, how many more times does he have to do this before y'all are going to say he's elite, Mike? Yeah, 34-0. Yeah, what are they going to do? Jalen's an elite quarterback. He's not a conventional quarterback. Like you guys said, he's not a Joe Burrow. He's not a Lamar Jackson. He's not a Mahomes. He can do more. And he's like, I don't know, that whole game, he looked way more poised. Than Patrick Mahomes did. Like, when the pocket was collapsing,

Jalen was able to escape pressure. Jalen was able to get rid of the ball. Yeah, I mean, he had that one pick, which, you know, He didn't play a perfect game, but it happens. You got one. Yeah. But the rest of the game, man, I couldn't have been more happy with the way that he played. And even with that pick, too, right? Like, they got the ball right back. Didn't they? They got it. It was a good punt. It was a good punt. Yeah. Like, you know, it was. Yeah. Like, it didn't even. It didn't even.

Was that the one that set up? Was that the one that set up to Gene's pick six or was that after? Oh, actually, I'm not sure. I wasn't sure if it was the Zach Bond pick or the. Because that was a John. feet. Yeah, because we put them in the corner. That's right. They got the field goal after that. They got that field. Yeah, that was it. 10-10, and then the Degene one made it 17-something. Man, that Degene one, my neighbors probably were hearing me.

I was yelling. My kids were yelling. That was amazing. I still find myself, when they're posted to the mic'd up, and then everybody going crazy on the Degene one. Yeah, Coach Nick going crazy. You got Saquon running, you know, rubbing down the field. It's still good. It's been an exciting week. It has been a very exciting week. Yeah, it was so nice to see them win like that. I know you don't want to see a Super Bowl be a blowout if it's not your team, but it was just so dominant.

I know there were so many people that didn't want to see the Chiefs three-peat like that, so it just felt like it was a well-received Super Bowl team, which is what Oh, yeah, there was a lot of unconventional fans, like, you know, cheering because of the evil empire or whatever, you know. 100%. For me, you can score a better team to kind of knock them down and off that bed and change the narrative in the NFL.

I think that's one of the things that, I mean, look at the way we're talking about the game right now. Look at the way they're talking about the game right now with salary caps. We were talking about that earlier. Look how they're talking about it now. Now that money makes a difference because we're not going into the offseason. We got positions we need to sure up. But look at all these other ones that are strapped, figuring out ways.

You got quarterbacks talking about, I'm going to give back some money. Y'all should have been doing this. Because y'all know this is about to be a run. This is about to be a – we're about to be a problem, a real big problem. We put the world on. We put the world on. We put the whole league on notice. Like, there's going to be a problem. And understand that. And that's the one thing I loved about this year was the league needs the Eagles to succeed.

Not because of the badness or just like the, oh, yeah, I feel something. The fact that you know what we bring to the table, that grit, that grind. We going to fight. We ain't quitting. We coming back. We getting our leg back. That's what you want to see. That smash-mouth football. They run the ball like true football. They needed us. The league needed us. You're welcome.

Absolutely absolutely and you know don't go telling Dak Prescott that because he thinks they're better y'all see what he said he was at that hospital he was at for that I was saying man he's been sipping whatever Kool-Aid Jerry Jones has been feeding him for too long, reading his own stats like oh I'm not going to afford against this all them wins are like when everybody was out everyone was hurt when your wins didn't matter and you didn't do shit in the playoffs.

Just sit this one out, bro. Keep your mouth shut until you do something on the field. I'm talking about, and thing too, add this on, the garbage time. If he starts talking about that, I have people talking about Kansas City, talking about Mahomes had, we're talking about garbage time? We're talking about garbage time? When he was in there, he scored six points. I don't want to hear about garbage time.

That's what some of them Cowboy fans did my memes And they were like, ah, look at this stat And I'm like, Garbage Tons? What are we talking about here? Yeah, like that pick that he set through I can't remember who it was But that was like on the practice squad defense It's like, come on now, You're going to celebrate that Yeah, it's like, yeah, that was our third string safety Congratulations, you finally got a touchdown On the third string team, come on,

Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. I don't understand. I know Dallas fans are always like, oh, we have more rings than the Eagles. And it's like, come on now. Like, seriously. Like, 30 years ago. Keep those dusty rings. Keep them dusty rings. None of y'all were alive when those rings happened. Come on. Yeah. The thing I say to all Cowboys fans, y'all can keep them raggedy rings that y'all have not been relevant in three decades. That is a fact.

That is not hyped up. check the tape, go check your records y'all have been non-relative for three decades, y'all have not been America's team y'all are not America's team no it's not happening, if we're going to talk about decades I'm going to give more respect to the. Patriots before I give to y'all just keep this shit, just keep it honest like this is all we're talking about right here, let's just I'm just tired of the Cowboys fans real talk. I'm tired. I saw it earlier.

If they, yeah. Ask your dad. Ask your uncle. It's the same shit y'all said to us in the 90s. Well, 1995, 1960. It's not that far away, you know? Last Eagles champion. If our shit didn't count back then, y'all shit don't count now, you know? Yeah, 100%. What we say? Update your resume.

If you're looking for a new job you need to update your resume y'all ain't updated y'all resume in three decades what we talking about if you want to get, invited to the upper echelon of NFL organizations that's fine let me see your resume. Let me see your resume. Send it to me. Send it to my dean. It's not going to happen until Jerry's gone, unfortunately. Exactly, man. We know what we're talking about. Listen, one thing you know about me as an Eagles fan, I take my lump and I be quiet.

Listen, when we took, it was tough last year. Yep. It was tough. Like, it was tough. I stood there and took it. But some of y'all, I don't understand with these Cowboys fans. Y'all can take it, take it, take it. Y'all just keep coming back. Y'all get the same result Y'all still them boys That's my favorite name. At least they're consistent Yeah Make it into the playoffs and exit early What was it?

Because it wasn't it last year They won the NFC East last year And Eagles came Crawling into the playoffs And it was like oh yeah Dallas won the NFC And it's like cool we won just as many playoff games and they did, too. Because didn't they lose in the first round? Yeah, they lost their first game. What we like to say, can't do it on three. Can't do it on three. And they're used to it.

Now, I want to talk, Petey, because I know you were at the parade, so that was yesterday, the day before we recorded here. So how was the parade in Philadelphia?

Didn't learn my lesson from 2018 got a little too crowded this time my son was uh one back then now he's seven oh not even one and now he's seven so i brought him yeah it was crowded i mean i went i went to city hall you know tried to get a you know see them going by waited a good two hours, had a good spot then the spot got crowded that's a lot of people man but i mean it was joyous i'm, There were, like, birds flying around, so we were bored, so you were cheering

on the birds, go birds. You just got to keep entertaining. You know, they were throwing footballs back and forth across Broad Street. Somebody got hit in the face. Not as bad as how he got hit by a... I was going to say. But a lady did just get hit next to me. I did say, watch out, and I tried to block it, but it still hit her clear in the forehead. Then she gave it to her husband, you know, tried to throw it over the street.

He did not, so he got booed and he got sad. But, you know, that's what we do. But otherwise, yeah, I mean, I had to carry a 70-pound child on my shoulder, which I'm pretty hurt by right now. But he's happy. You know, he's got to get that memory, you know, ingrained in his brain for a long time. So it was pretty crazy. I didn't make my way to the actual, like, parade speeches. It was a pretty long way, and there's, like, hundreds of thousands of people, like, just on the streets.

But it was cold and the sun was out so it wasn't too bad but I mean it's definitely a good experience it's the second one up which I can't believe it's just yeah it was fun man. Did you make it home to see the speeches on TV? My office isn't that far like 10 blocks away so we made our way back we grabbed lunch got a little warm, watched the speeches realized the live feed the live feed, kind of sucked because they were like Every time somebody cursed, it dropped like 20 seconds of the audio.

So we were just like, let's just go home and watch it later, you know, when they could properly bleep everybody. Otherwise, yeah, it was cool, man. That's awesome, man. Just to see the city, just like, you know, everybody was like, of course, like there were some assholes and, you know, there was a lot of drinking, a lot of drunk people by 10 o'clock in the morning. So it was like the whole thing that's been going on this year. It's just like whenever the city's like this, it's just like,

Like, watch where you're going. What the fuck? Go birds, you know? You gotta end it with go birds, even though, you know, it was an argument, but... Everything ends with go birds. Everything. Like, you can't fucking drive! You know, why don't you learn a turn signal? Go birds! Oh, I love it. It's, uh, it's really cool. Andy or Miller, Have you guys ever been to a championship parade for anyone? Like any sport or anything like that?

No, man. I grew up in Idaho and I live in Utah. There ain't no championships close to where I'm at. I mean, I'm in Arkansas. This is like we only have no sports team. Everything is like two or five hours away. So, no, I ain't never been to anything like that. But I was able to watch some of it online. I don't think TikTok or whatever. I had a lot of friends that I met that are Philly fans. And so I was able to really experience it this year with going.

It was just like, it just, I made a lot of friends. I don't know. This year was just, just made a lot of friends that were Eagle fans. And I love it. So this was fun. Well, specifically what I was going to say. So like when the Raptors won the championship, I got a chance to go down. And kind of what you said, Pete, like just the city and like the atmosphere and like Just to get a chance to celebrate with the team is just such a cool thing.

Anyone who's listening, if you get the opportunity to go to a championship parade for whatever, if it's baseball, basketball, football, hockey, whatever it is, it is such a cool environment to go to. The Raptors won their first championship, right? It was the first championship we had in the city in, I think at that time, it was like 28 years or something like that.

Yeah, 27, 28 years, something like that. So it was absolutely insane, but it was such a cool experience to be a part of and just to get to like see the floats go by and like cheer and celebrate. Like it was just such a cool thing. Like anyone who gets the opportunity to make the time and effort. It is it is such a cool thing to be able to experience. And that's why I want to ask you, Pete, because I know you I know you went down. So super cool that you got to go go down and check that out.

Yeah, I mean, how you're supposed to catch them, you know, head in a swivel. My kid said that was probably his favorite part of it, just seeing the players actually try to, you know, catch the beers, smash it, and drink it. I'm like, well, I mean, you're seven, so, yeah, it's beer. I mean, but no, it was cool. The best one was like, you know, the exciting whites. I mean, and Reed just pointing to himself. I'm Reed, I'm not Cooper. He's not Cooper, I saw that.

Parade Day Excitement

That's Reed, it's not cool That's so good You can see him mouthing I'm Reed. I'm the other one, That's what That's what his hoodie should have said Or whatever on his jacket I'm Reed I'm Reed, Everyone kind of hates on him still He's the other exciting one but man, he's always the right place at the right time. You know, you pick up a fumble, like how many opportunities, like, you know, he'll get an interception and just fall down. But I mean, like, he's there every time. It's crazy.

Yeah, he does his job and he does it well. I remember when, was it last year that he came in? And I think he was like, he got in because someone was hurt and then he kind of had some growing pains. Yeah, he replaced him. Wow, dude. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, he had some growing pains. And I was like, oh boy, like, I was always nervous when they were throwing it, you know, deep over the middle. So it's like, oh, Reid's going to not do what he's supposed to.

But, man, he had a turnaround from last year to this year. He played really well, I thought. Definitely helps with the cornerbacks, but, yeah, but, yeah. Yeah, they definitely can't. This year, for sure. Even with, you know, if he was MacDonald and makes fun of or what's-his-face, Brad Berry, the folks who were... Oh, yeah, yeah. With the trophy, like, man, that man played his role. Y'all better be quiet. He was about that role. Even when we talked about Cooper, I mean, even Mitchell.

I mean, Mitchell shut down, like, nobody was getting 30. Nobody averaged more than 30 yards this whole year. They were scared to throw up. That's crazy. Like, think about that. Like, when people were talking numbers of their corners and they were like, well, he don't have a lot of tackles. Don't nobody throw to him. Doesn't need tackles if he's doing his job over there. Like, exactly. I'm like, they're not throwing there. Did you see the other stackles because they're not throwing to him?

Slay got the most breakups this year. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's just weird to me that, I mean, of course, listen, I'm an FSU fan, so I know about Jared Burst, so I know about him. But honestly, man, Quinion, in my opinion, should have won that defensive rookie of the year. That's just my opinion. I think Jared had a good run. Yeah, I'm just sorry, man. When they're not throwing at your whole side as a rookie, they're not throwing at any... You talk about a rookie wall,

the man started from day one and went a whole eight-day... He didn't hit a rookie wall. So it was just weird you know a cornerback don't get that love and we had two of them up in there we had two of them, and started more games than Cooke. So, I mean, it was just like, you know, even when you know, don't forget about Ringo. I mean, I'm a defensive guy, you know, so it's like, that defense is going to be crazy. Even Ringo is still going to be a problem. It's still going to wait for his,

chance to get it at. It's just, whoo. We said, gentlemen, like that defense is set for a good minute. Like, they're going to be a problem. Like, you can't throw. Like, you're not – like, man. Yeah. The defense is – it's good now, and it's set for quite a while. And, I mean, good pieces, good young pieces, and then Fangio doing his thing. Like, I mean, because we had a decent defense last year, but they sucked.

Like we had talent but they just couldn't put it together last year yeah so it was it was all yeah scheme was awful and then i mean zach bond like i'm so glad we got him i mean we couldn't have seen that one from a mile away that's not being honest like nobody did and man i was so excited to see him like do what he did this year and just like i mean everybody like that was the beautiful thing about the eagles this year is it wasn't just like

this one person here this one person here this one person like it was a team like both sides like together supporting each other and I mean it was like the definition of team football like just total dominance on both sides of the ball and just together as a team this year it was it was cool to see that camaraderie because you don't see that on a lot of NFL teams you see you know pockets of people getting you know their feelings hurt because their

number ain't getting called or you know other things like that like this year, everybody bought in and that just shows the power of like being a team yeah, 100%. Don't forget about Beckham, too. Beckham. Beckham on the house. Yeah. The Jets and the Giants, you know, throwing away their supposed trash. We'll take them. Yeah, it's fine. We'll take their quote-unquote trash. Yeah. One man's trash, another man's treasure. Thank you.

I'm sad about getting hurt. Otherwise, I mean, my boy works for the medical staff. Or Rothman, but he knows a lot of people on the medical staff, every single starter, you know, to play what, out of 21 starters, he was the only one hurt, you know, out for the Super Bowl. That's a big accomplishment. He played good, man. 100%. And that's the other thing, too, with football, right? They can change so quickly year to year. Look at the Lions. Yeah, the Lions are a great example,

right? They had, what, was it like 15 starters or more at one point? No, sorry. Wasn't it up in the 20s, 21 or something like that? Starters injured at one point? You can't get embarrassed at home, you know, being in the NLLC though.

Yeah. Oh, 100%. But like the fact that you like, you know, the injuries aren't the excuse, but it's like, you know, like the fact that that can happen that quickly, like, and, you know, for them to go through the whole, almost the whole season with very, very few injuries, especially on the defense, as you said, Pete, like only one injury to the starters throughout and it's in the championship game, not the championship game the NSC, championship game.

That's an impressive feat and that can change from year to year, right? Yeah, man. Awesome. You got to be able to, I mean, you got to be real smart. I mean, when those injuries file up, you know you got to develop, you got to have that's when you draft to draft them in the play. You know, what you do is look for an off-off who does with that roster to fill those holes in free agencies. It's great. I mean, I think Detroit. That's who I wanted.

I made no beats or curves about this. If y'all wanted, y'all earned that number one slot, cool. Y'all had those folks, cool. We'll go through you. We wanted you too. But y'all didn't fulfill the end of y'all's bargain. You know, that's plain and simple. Y'all on paper, I don't think that, I thought Washington should have gave y'all a problem, but y'all got dismantled. Like, there was no competition. It was.

Y'all picked the oddest time to let y'all injuries show how much of a team y'all were hurt. Like, y'all picked the oddest time. Like, why now? Like, y'all did all that fighting against Minnesota to get that number one thing. Get dog walking that first game back. Like, what did y'all need the first round bye for? You know what I'm saying?

Yeah, it just showed. like which one I gave all y'all effort in that game to get the number one scene and both of y'all got dog walk up out of here like it doesn't make no sense to me so I knew y'all weren't prepared and we all already knew that's why I'm like the disrespect on quarterback just like with Jared Goff Jared Goff is gonna turn into Jared Goff at some point in time we said the same thing about Tony Romo when Romo is the Romo thing and

we said the same thing we said about uh oh oh what's it What's the Minnesota's quarterback name? You said the same thing about Donald. What we always said, wait until he gets the opportunity to not do Sam Donald things. And what did he do? He turned into Sam Donald. What did Jared Goff do? He turned into Jared Goff. But what did Jalen Hurst do? Do Jalen Hurst things? Absolutely. I mean, I'm just putting, I mean, I'm just, I'm just the whole talk around what's the measurements, Steve?

What are we basing this off of? Emotion, stat, or what we putting on tape? Because the emotion shouldn't be. Shouldn't even be considered. And I think a lot of people make a lot of emotional judgments when they're looking at that. We saw the way the media disrespected our team the whole year. The whole year. That was on Fox. That was on ESPN. That was on everybody. You saw how many shows. We saw as fans.

We watched and heard all them folks just talking, talking. Oh, they're – look, fire our coach. Look, Jada Hurst is not a leader. They leaning on Tucky's up. They're D. Look, Fangio. Look what Fangio did in Miami. I love Jalen Ramsey Jalen Ramsey is an FSU player and he's complaining about Fan Joe what did he say about Fan Joe?

Oh that boy too hard that's exactly what they need for him to put their ass together that whole time when he got hired y'all remember everybody was talking about Fan Joe that's a bad hire everybody said it and if you didn't know how if you didn't read the numbers you didn't look at nothing you knew like that's probably what the fuck we needed that's probably what the hell that all that defense somebody put their foot like no this is a scheme we don't run we don't run this that's it

we don't do this right and we're gonna do this right that's all we gonna do because all that narrative about fanjo meant nothing oh he's 0 and 8 again look what the players he has he got dogs on this squad what we talk yes he does so what we're talking about here like nobody want to, like, come on, man. This was no competition the whole year. And honestly, I was being humble. And I'm proud of y'all for being humble, but I'm not going to be humble no more.

And I'm not going to be bragging and I'm not going to be like, oh, y'all, but I'm not going to, I'm tired of being humble. We earned our chip, gentlemen. I'm not being honest about it. Oh, yeah. The first one that we got with Nick Foles, that was Nick Foles. He could never repeat that. I don't know what got into him that playoff run, but he, you know, something got into that man, and he played lights out and absolutely incredible. Not consistent through his career whatsoever.

Like, he did nothing after that. Didn't really do much before that, but came in, did his thing. This year, though, like you were saying, Miller, like they put in that work and they did the thing. And there was no question. It wasn't luck. It wasn't some like random, you know, miracle that happened that the Eagles got to this point, like a playoff run that, you know, nobody was expecting. They were doing this most of the season.

And they just consistently did it all through the playoffs. And, man, again, I don't know why I was so nervous through the playoffs, but that's just what the Eagles have done to me the last few years, I guess. You look back on it now, and of course, you're like, yeah, what was I nervous about? But that's the other thing. There was this rhetoric that was being built of like, oh, well, the Eagles don't have this, or they don't have this. And it's like, no, you're actually watching the team.

They were good everywhere. Like everything was looking good. I know like as long as he gets healthy, like we were looking really, really good on both sides of the ball. Like I know everybody was, you know, hyping up Saquon all year, which rightfully so that man, that, that, that was beautiful watching him do what he did this whole season. But Jalen played well, the offensive line played well, that front four played well all freaking season. Our defensive backfield played great all season.

Like it was just incredible to watch. like complete football. Yeah, 100%. Complete football on both sides of the ball. It was nice to see in those last two games where they just came out and they just dominated. They stepped on their necks and did not take their foot off. Yeah, I was having so many people at school and they said, man, that was the most boring Super Bowl ever. I was like, what are you talking about? I enjoyed every second of that Super Bowl.

I know it might not have been fun to watch For people who weren't Eagles fans But that was glorious My kids ended up walking away from the TV Late in the third and into the fourth quarter Because they were like, this game's over I was like, no, I'm going to sit here the whole time I'm going to soak in every single second of this one I am going to enjoy this, Bro, I was like the dude I was like I was like, more More.

That was me the whole game I was like, I didn't care. I was like, are you going to sit and get up and get more? I want to see more. And then when it, was it Jalen Carter, put his hands on Mahomes' face, you know, after that fumble happened, I was like, everyone's like, oh, you know, this should have called this, this should have. I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no. Enjoy that for what it was. Like, that was a beautiful defensive play. Yeah.

And, like, I, yeah, that was just, to see him get to the quarterback like that and just take him down like that was just, like, oh, yeah.

And the fact that like Go ahead No I'm saying the fact that people were like Oh why didn't the refs call something Why didn't the refs call something Like the refs been calling something all year for these guys, So just let it be Like this is football Let the men play football Yeah but what were they going to call Yeah Didn't they call a penalty on it already Yeah they called So it was like why didn't they call, Because after the Eagles got that fumble with BS. Yeah, he dumped it on that call.

Yeah, that one. But even with that, with AJ, with AJ, they called that passing interference. That was the first one. Remember, that was the first one we were like, okay, the refs is already starting. Yeah, the whole entire world was saying that. Maybe they were like, they was like, all right, then we already see it. But then they turned around two series later, and we got that call back. Because it was something, I can't remember what it was, but we got that call back.

It was Goddard. Yeah, so yeah, it was Goddard. Yeah, it was showing a flood. So there was like, people were like, well, they didn't call nothing. When were they going to call something? At what point DeAndre Huffman was like, you dropped a wide open pass. What are you talking about? He would have been gone. If he would have caught that, that would have been a touchdown, and that could have been a different game.

Can't blame the rest of that I think people didn't understand when they watch games like that do you understand how climactic it was but to know that we were getting ready to we could have watched something that had never been done before a three-peat in the NFL that has never been done before, so you gotta understand they were not that you could take life you had to kill them you had to go so the clock was at zero that's why like fans was like.

Y'all really watch somebody be surgically dissected in front of you. Yep. Like, they were surgically dissected from defense to offensive line. You got – they were exposed. And the only way that could have been done is this way. You had to – now you cannot say they're a dynasty. You cannot say Fadger Holm is one of the great – you cannot say – Because that's the last thing people are going to remember is how you played in the Super Bowl.

You ain't no next Sunday, bro. That's the last thing you put on tape. And we sit there and watch Patrick Mahomes this whole year had his worst. Oh, he played terrible. He played on that pedestal. Yeah, he played terrible this year. Every statistical category in a quarterback, period. And y'all still disrespected the whole time.

His goal was so large that they still didn't care that man was last in every statistical category for quarterback they still talked to him as if he was going to do something. This Super Bowl had to happen so everybody knows the game is level now we got to change the guard it had to happen like this it's exactly what you're saying everybody who picked the Chiefs Oh, because it's the Chiefs. You can't say that shit no more. Because it's Andy Raleigh. You can't say that shit no more. Thank God.

Yeah, I mean, I think... Everybody saw the way we played y'all twice. Y'all couldn't beat us twice! The three times we didn't play when we one call away, the 3-0 against y'all. Like, what are we talking about here? What am I missing? Yeah, it was, I mean, I think people listen too much to what all these people in sports media say and they just gobble that up and take that as the gospel truth. And, you know, you just got to watch the game.

And if you watched any Chiefs games this year and if you watched any of the Eagles games this year, like, again, I shouldn't have been nervous going into the Super Bowl. I shouldn't have been nervous at all, but I was.

But watching the Eagles play and then watching the Chiefs play how they play, I'm not surprised it happened how it happened, yeah I wasn't scared at all man I knew this after I called in a bunch of group chats I said I told you Super Bowl is going to be an asshole I told everybody I told like bro no lie bro at Rick I told Rick I said bro this is going to be an asshole I didn't say probably I said this is going to be there was nothing that showed me.

We looked at this. Now we can look at this from like now we in the Canberra seat. We can look at the tape from the future, you know, from, you know, in the future and see the past and see like man, like you saying, Andy, you saying like, I shouldn't have been afraid. Like now, I was like, I had that feeling weeks ago. I was like, what we afraid? Like we didn't play them. We played better than them like three times we didn't play them. Like, yeah.

Like, what are we here for? I knew it was going to be. I knew this was going to be bad for him. It was going to be bad for him. And thank God it was, because it was nice to see us take that home and pull out that W. Yeah, it was real nice to just have so much to cheer about the whole game, right? I remember I mentioned it to you guys before, but my father-in-law is also an Eagles fan, right?

So it's fun for us to sit down and watch the games. But watching the loss two years ago was just heartbreaking. It was just nice to see them just come out and just be on it from the jump. I had a bunch more questions, but I really loved how that conversation flowed. So I think I'm going to cap it there. I'll leave a couple of the other ones out that we were going to talk about. But I want to give everyone a chance. We're not going to do shout outs in this

episode specifically. But I want to give everyone a chance to have a special message to all the Eagles haters out there. So I'm specifically going to do mine to Kali, but I'll let you guys go first. He's probably the biggest hater on this podcast and Rich being second. So if you guys got anything you want to say to the haters before we kind of close this out, what do you guys want to say? Because I don't want to get too Jalen Hurts on the quotes and the mentality.

But feeling this way feeling this good I can't even speak to the haters.

Let them talk, let them say what they gotta say because look where it got us look where it got Jalen and it was mindset they said all that shit about him I think that's a good place to end our episode here so just appreciate everyone for following along with us this week I know it sounds a little bit different than it normally does but we had some technical difficulties on the back end my laptop kind of shut down a little bit so we had to use an alternative form to record this episode
