He is a native of Jamaica and is the past president of the Canadian-American Theological Association (2011–2014) and the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies (2019–2021). His main research area is biblical theology (especially the Old Testament) with a focus on creation, suffering, eschatology, and the ethics of power.
