Episode description

The Omicron variant of Covid-19 is now in Texas in just over two weeks since it arrived on the scene over Thanksgiving holiday.

We spend our first three segments with Robert W. Haley, M.D.,

Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of the Division of Epidemiology in the Internal Medicine Department at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Haley’s experience and unique ability to make complex information understandable is why we decided to expand his coverage of this variant, and even his prediction of what the Covid-19 reality might look like down the road.

Then, a heartwarming story of a family of Mario Cortez, who wanted to express their gratitude for the care he received while battling Covid-19 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano. That resulted in a painting that is now on display at the hospital as an honor to medical teams there and across the country who have given so much of themselves during this extended pandemic.
