The Pride of Life

There is a lie that humanity has been buying since the first pages of Scripture: that we can be like God and call the shots for our own lives. When we buy into this lie, we think of ourselves as the center of the universe and expect our families, society, and God himself to meet our demands. This is what John calls “the pride of life”. God loves us too much to let us ruin our lives by thinking this way.
