 The glory days of Sardis were a thing of the past. Once the chief city of the region, it had slowly fallen into a sleepy irrelevance that eventually filtered into the church, as well. A long habit of religious activity gave the church at Sardis the appearance of life, but Jesus had a different perspective. And his call to the church of Sardis is one we need to hear today.
