On the forefront of art, medicine, and government, the city of Pergamum was a cultural powerhouse. Its influence was felt across the ancient world to the point where the church in Pergamum had started to look more like the city than it did Jesus. They believed in Jesus, sure, but that belief wasn't informing their behavior. Jesus' letter to the church in Pergamum is a reminder that following Jesus changes EVERYTHING: not just what we believe, but how we live.
