Two thousand years ago in a backwater town in Israel, a young woman gave birth to a son who would split time in two. This child was the fulfillment of a promise that God had made to his people long ago: that he would free his people from their suffering. No one expected that God would fulfill his promise by entering into their suffering himself. But this was the path of Jesus and it is the path of every person who would follow him.
