Soil Nutrition, Soil Core, & Variable Rate

How do you know what your soil needs at any given time?  You talk with Joe and his crew!  Hosts Sal Sama and Ryan Priest are joined by Joe Zimmerman on this episode of The High Ground powered by Premier Companies.  Joe is the TRAX Agronomy Lead for all of Premier and works out of the Seymour office.  TRAX is Premier’s precision ag division which enables growers to utilize data in a variety of areas including soil samples and nutrients, potential yields, crop protection products, seed treatment, and more.  

Joe explains how the process is started with a grower to determine how much fertilizer is needed, soil testing rotation, and equipment utilized in the testing process.  He also describes a soil core and how it’s utilized in the testing process in till and no-till fields.  You’ll also learn about variable rate testing, manure usage, and how data is used with account managers and growers to drive up yields.  With the cost of inputs today, variable rate testing is something every grower should consider that can pay off in a huge way!
