Episode description

As we enter this new decade, I thought it would be fun to talk to a few friends and reflect back on what life was like 10 years ago. In these conversations, you’ll hear guests speak about what God has done in their life, their dreams and goals, things they would have done differently, and things they’re most proud of. And, looking back always causes me to look forward, so we’ll also chat about dreams for the next ten years!

My guest for today’s episode is Preston Perry! Preston is a spoken word poet, father, apologist, and is married to a friend of the show, Jackie Hill-Perry.

In this episode, Preston and I dive into his last 10 years. We chat about meeting Jackie for the first time at a poetry event and their subsequent friendships, how Preston was exposed to the Gospel and led to Christ by the radical transformation in his friend Gary’s life, and how he is carrying on that legacy as a father to his girls. Preston also shares about how he and Jackie are trying to avoid the burnout with their kids that can happen growing up in a Christian home. He says, “We don’t want to hand our kids our religion, we want to display it for them, allow them the free-will that God gave them...and give them space to seek God.” Friends, Preston is wise beyond his years and I’m so grateful for the ways in which he defends the faith “with gentleness and respect” and continues to be vulnerable in his relationships and with us today.
