This weeks episode is a deep dive into an attempt to address that question that we keep hearing, "What's with all this talk about Babylon?"

Rodney Fickas returns to join us for a discussion on the deep and sacred value of work itself. In the conversation they spent some time remembering the words of Dorothy Sayers, in particular her essay 'Why Work' Here is an audio version that Jon recorded on his other podcast called The Work Ethic you can find the text here
After their time together in Orlando for the Exponential conference, the crew came back together to reflect on the role of prophetic practitioners in todays gatherings such as the conference. It's fascinating to hear Taylor and Hugh share about their experience talking about Brave Cities with the gathering of church planters they got to connect with.
Enjoy this conversation with Lance Ford
This is a really fun conversation about the call go to hell.
We invited Fitch to join us as we wrestle with the conviction that the gospel is not just Jesus. We are so grateful for this brothers life, work, and mind. We hope this conversation opens you up to a broader, deeper, more profound sense of just how immeasurably great the good news of the kingdom is.
This brother is a builder! Hugh came back from a visit to Lance's ecosystem and told the team that we had to get him on and hear his story. In this episode we did just that. Lance has built so much and we are so excited to be able to share this conversation with you here.
This is a kind of part 2 of the convo we began about the poor in episode 14
In this this episode Taylor and Jon wrestle with questions of God's heart from the poor and the place of the poor in our communities and in the kingdom itself. Taylor kinda takes the posture of interviewer in an effort to get Jon riffing on some of these ideas. Next weeks episode is will be a continuations of this conversation with Hugh and Joel. You can consider this episode a part 1.
This is an incredible conversation with Rodney Fickas of Soulcraft . It's a great introduction to Rodney, his journey from traditional ministy/church-planting to a wood shop in Ferguson, and the beautiful table that is Soulcraft, where they make things good. We hope his story inspires you as much as it has us!
After tragedy and crisis struck the Halter's and their community in Alton, Hugh offered to share about the experience and unpack suffering a bit with the guys. This episode is an exploration of the power of suffering and it's value to each of us and our communities.
In the episode the crew is wrestling with a concept that would end up leading to the subtitle of the Brave Cities book. Like all of these episode, they are grey pages because in them we are actively exploring the ideas rather than just reporting on some finding. This episode explicitly uses the image of a beaker that we are putting different ingredients into as an experiment and it serves as a good reminder for all of us that this is the intended posture of each and every one of these conversati...
This is an audio only episode. Jon and Hugh decided to take the opportunity while Hugh was in Tampa waiting on a flight to capture a bit of the Halter Story. Enjoy!
This episode is a great introduction to our brother Joel Repic and his work with a Kingdom ecosystem in Aliquippa, PA. In this conversation the crew digs into the artistic calling of the apostle and the temptation (and mistake) that it is to turn music into math.
In this episode the crew is joined by Dr Chalie Foltz of The Good Hood in San Antonio TX. The episode opens with him sharing a bit of his incredible journey from volunteering as a mentor at a local school to an incredible ecosystem and organization that he now serves. After he shares, the team began reacting and sharing their thoughts that emerged as he told his story. Jon shared a kind of addition to the 'orthodoxy, orthopraxy, orthopathos' framework that he has been thinking about for a few ye...
In this episode Taylor and Jon wrestle with the realities of the principalities and powers
In this episode each one of the crew is in a different space. Jon is at WellBuilt Bikes , a social enterprise bike shop; Taylor is at GroundWorks, a coworking space they run, and Hugh is in the post masters office at Post Commons Coffee shop. Each is an example of the very heart of this conversation on space making. Convergent Spaces are a key piece of the ecosystem architecture laid out in the upcoming Brave Cities cook and this conversation is a great preview!...
The episode begins with Jon saying he got a text from Taylor saying 'We shouldn't try to build the kingdom of God.' Hugh immediately replies 'It'll save us a lot of time if he's right.' This conversation explores the common misconception that the Kingdom of God is something we build. While we might not be able to build the kingdom, the crew discerns, we still have to build.
In episode 2 the crew talked about the inklings that began their journey. At some point Jon told a story about an encounter that began a 'haunting' in him. Hugh suggested that they circle back and record another conversation on hauntings that have a hold of us and keep us in the game. This episode was recorded much later and makes a few references to unreleased conversations that are scheduled to come out soon. This podcast is mostly being released in the order it was recorded but the team felt ...
Adam Thomason is a human rights advocate, an award winning filmmaker, an entrepreneur, a professor and a prolific author of multiple books. Adam is married with 3 children. Adam also believes that kingdom ecosystems are the future of the church not just in America, but the world. He's also been a faithful and steady friend to Taylor for many years. His life and integrity is the strongest credential in his ever growing arsenal.
In this episode Hugh, Taylor, and Jon discuss those early inklings that led them to where they are today, working on establishing Kingdom Ecosystems.
Welcome to the very first episode of the Grey Pages with Hugh Halter, Taylor McCall, & Jon Dengler.
