Greatest Super Bowl Halftime Shows with Whitmer Thomas

We're just the keen and queen of being evergreen. Um. I don't know what that means, but it is Super Bowl weak. Yeah, we're sporty. This is a sports show where we discussed the greatest things in sports. But this one, um, we're we're doing. The topic is the greatest Super Bowl halftime shows of all time. Uh, and we are joined here with our I would say he leans more towards music and entertainment. Um, it's perfect time to have him because he has a little project coming out that is

musically involved with More Thomas. So this is for all of our devoted fans. Is CJ's best friend and when he said I think Wit would be great for this, I go is wit going to be normal? I don't think there and he goes, yeah, he'll be normal. But now that he started off not normal, I like it. All I needed to do was see it, and now I'm in. People say that you're not sporty, but you are sport You're one of the most active people. I know you're a skater. Yeah, yeah, but that's more. Sometimes

I guess people don't count skating as a sport. So why ESPN two did well? Now it's an Olympic sport. I think because it is more of a like an artistic kind of expression. And also it's I think people of our our generation, most of the kids who grew up skating, um, we're kind of I think annoying to them. So I think people who like sports are like a skater. Yeah, it's not merely like annoying people jockey. Yeah, yeah, it's

not like kis while playing a sport. You are. You are from Alabama, and you almost can't be from Alabama and not like sports to some extent, just because we're all tad, you know. Yeah. I played sports always, baseball and football and basketball. I'd love to play football. I hated football because I didn't want to touch my friends.

And I remember my coming to my dad. I was able to quit football when I had I moved because at the new school I went to didn't have a football team, but my dad wouldn't let me quit anything. So what I said, I don't want to play football anymore. And he's like why, and I was like, I just don't like it. I don't like I don't My team was really good too, he was why. And it was because, Uh, that day on the field, I had to tackle Chris Tippler and I didn't want to touch him. I felt

like uncomfortable touching people that I sort of knew. What great is this? That was fourth grade? Fourth grade and that was the first time you ever played football when you start, oh on a team? Yeah, but then I always played football, you know, and like goofing around. Were like a neighborhood kid where kids would be like, all right, here's the sport play after school and you're always playing it? Yeah? Always? And were you good? I was always good. I was

always like one of the better. Yeah, you seem athletic people on the team. I was like, I think I was a pretty consistent choice with uh sports, Yeah, you weren't picked last. No, Um, did you guys grow up loving Alabama football? Yeah, and you still watch it every time? You usually have, Like I gave you an Alabama football bucket hat. I know I love that hat. You know what's a sad thing that I'll tell you is that, Um, I lost that hat for a full year and I

just found it again. Where did you find that? It was behind a bookshelf? Well, you know, you know we've still talk about how we got that hat and the whole hat thing, and you as a joke. This story, this company who will not be named contacted me. This is going to sound like a very privileged, entitled story, and I do I hope you know I understand that. And I'm proceeding anyways. So this company contacts me and they're like, hey, love your vibe, love your energy, love

your brand. I mean, this is how they talk to you. Like a bikini company reached out to me and was like you are So it's like, I'm not doing this is a big company, big company, and I wear their stuff constantly. They why should you be sponsored? Im? I use the product constantly that they'll send him free stuff, but I am you know, I'm putting first traps out there. They need me more than they need you know, Filipino dudes.

So they say, we're going to give you five dollars a month to spend at our like on our website. Whatever you want, it's gonna be. And and there wasn't even ever like a promise of you have to post or you need nothing. It just was like, we're gonna be five every month to spend. And so the first month, I bought c J a bunch of dumb stuff I got you in Alabama hat. I got my dad a Coult shirt, maybe a Pacer shirt. I think I brought

bought something for my brother. I spent all five on other people because I was like, I'm gonna get this. I'm this will be presents for people, and then I'll get stuff for myself. And so then the next month rolls around. The first I don't get my five email, and so I emailed them and I'm like, hey, I didn't get my five hundred dollars and they're like, oh, yeah,

we're not doing that anymore. So I had spent five dollars on absolute bullshit because I thought I was going to keep getting the money, and then never got it again. And I love you dearly, and I think said it's one of his favorite hats. My has one of my favorite hats. I think they kept doing the program because

we had other friends. I know. I think they just I think they just were like, oh, she's not important, like or no. I think they probably wanted you to buy stuff for yourself and posted, but instead he bought me a bucket and then bought my dad a drive fit shirt. Who is not on the internet in anyway, But I do love that hat. Hats great. Yeah, you love bucket hats and silly stuff. I also love that one of your nephews, um wants to be a referee. Oh yeah, yeah, my nephew Reid, who's eleven now he uh.

I think his parents and his family he's my step nephew, and I'm very encouraging of him. But they made him believe at an early age. I think that he doesn't have any talent. So he decided when he was like six that he just wants to be a referee and dresses as one. He'll dress dresses a referee during games and he'll call he We gave him a mic with like a delay like and know though Auburn twenty second yard line or whatever. That is a practical dream job.

He loves He loves sec football, and I wouldn't want my kid to play football. So if he got super into ref and I'd be like, all right, it seems like a really good path. Actually you can exercise. Yeah. But now actually, now he likes he they you know, I'll go throw the football with him and stuff. And he's not such a bad athlete, no, I think. I mean, I've only been checking in on your I G stories, but it seems like he's a normal boy. He's pretty normal.

Parents didn't, you know, lead him to believe he could be. He's pretty normal. Over the holidays, I was teaching him how to do stand up. I think you'll like this story because he's got funny stories. And um, like, he just got in big trouble because I guess he's failing fifth grade and he's he was hiding all of his failed test papers at the bottom of his closet and his mom went in there to like put some shoes in his closet and just found like two hundred test

papers with f song. Also, he found out that a lot of the times people passwords for their iPad is their birthday. So he kept going to all the kids in classical and hey, what's your birthday and writing it down. The teacher found out that he was trying to hacken. So anyway, I was like, does have talents? I was like, dude, I think you'd be a pretty good stand up comedian. So I was teaching him and I gave him a spoon like a microphone, was telling him to stand on

the steps. And his mom's always heckling him in life like God read us, like shut up or whatever, and so I was like, all right, read tell us a story. And he, of course isn't that great at telling stories, and his mom kept telling him to speed it up, and I would go whisper in his ear, uh like ways to get a heckler to be quiet, And so I said, just say the first thing you see about her and tell her to sit down. And so he said,

sit down, Ponytai hill. Yes, that's so good. And then at one point he goes I said, all right, another fun thing is when you're dealing with a heckler trying to find something that isn't that offensive like and hurtful about him, like if a person has a big head. That's often the thing that's like not that big of a deal because most people have pretty big heads. Uh and uh, so he said to his mom. His mom got up in the middle of his story and went to the kitchen. He says, yeah, I go to the kitchen,

big head, and she her feelings got really hurt. I don't think women like to have a big head. Yeah, I didn't realize that, so c J, I don't know you have a big head. You didn't even have a reaction when that's what and we I think of lust three. We would talk about our head sizes a lot, but I'm surprised. I just laughed because you both have tiny heads. I think that's much work, you know, and it makes me feel like our friend our relationships. You know, you're

my wife and you're one of my best friends. That I really, I really, it has a lot of meaning to me because your guy's head looks even smaller next well, and that we've like embraced you, you know, it's almost we're not only in a racial we're in our head side. Yeah, I mean, yeah, there are times where we will take a picture at like, you know, a fun thing, and all I be like, can I stand three feet. Yeah, I got the smallest, small head. I think it's much worse than a big hit. I have a little head.

My brothers used to tell me when I was a little you know, at the end of Beetlejuice, when they sprinkled powder around, the guy in his head shrinks. My brother said that happened to me, and that my parents thought I looked less fat that way, so they left it. You know, you know it'll be read will be fine.

I'm fine. He's got a big head. Read does. Yeah. Yeah, you have that niece, the smaller who looks like you, but her head head, her head is huge to the point that like her mom or dad will be putting clothes on her. And she got big head, big head, big head, and said she needs help getting like yeah, she can't like get her clothes on and off because it's so big. But my brother has a giant head, giant. Yeah, my brother has a small head. I think my sister

has a small head. Yeah, it's wild. I mean either goes one of the there's no medium I feel like, no, I'm sure there's medium heads. Yeah. This this there's a dog like next on. It's got a beautiful head Um was there ever you take? You still skate your what thirty? Your thirty one? And you still what was your New Year's resolution? You're telling me this the other day, to learn how to skate without friends because all my friends are clitting. You will, Have you ever skated alone? I did?

So I got into the route. Me and c J used to live by a skate park near where y'alls current houses. And I got into the routine of going by myself. And then I hurt my back one day at the skatepark and head have some twelve year olds carrying me into my car, and so it's like, I don't want to do this. I need to always have a friend with me. But so but now all my friends are quitting because of just they're busy or or they can't skate. But it's like just for random times.

So I just need to learn how to go by myself. Was there ever a time growing up that you thought you'd be a professional skateboarder or yea be Yeah, I thought I don't think I ever could have. But I thought when I was twelve or thirteen, I remember thinking like there's hope for me, um roade me and some of my friends were sponsored by the local skate shop or the skate shop nearest us, and they were called Chad's boarding House. That's kind of a man though, Chad's

boarding House. Yeah, and um, but then I tore my a c L when I was thirteen and everything crumbled. Gods L. I follow a Twitter account called a c L Recovery Club and they search everyone tweeting about a c L surgery and wish them luck. Well, that's great. My my brother has a dog who I've always said he looks like a running back. He's got like short legs and like a stocky body, and there's different running backs. I say he looks like I will not say that

on this And he has a big head too. And he tore his a c L and I I didn't either, but I'm like, you know, he does look like a running back. I guess this makes sense. At least got to catch up on all the movies he's wanted to see. No, I don't think that's what's happening for him. Um. We wanted to do this topic now because I guess the Super Bowl sometimes really, but it's not especially not living in l A. It is not an event that everyone

cares about. Last year the Rams were in the super Bowl, Los Angeles looked like nothing was happening, Like the Golden Globes were recently in the city shuts down for that and that's a second tier awards show. The team being in the super Bowl were like business as usual. But I do think super Bowl halftime show people will always rally and want to know and be excited for and and the announcement comes out like even earlier now and

it's a big to do a bit. The super Bowl is such a cultural event because there are so many aspects of it that everyone can truly get into it in some way. Like I feel like we've had super Bowl parties and with comedians, Yeah, no one cares about football. We've worked in football and there were times we just didn't really care about it. Um, but you are excited because I guess, yeah, I feel like we should talk a little bit about how we feel about this upcoming

super Bowl. I am so excited for I know who it is j Lo and Shakira and having seen Hustlers, which you saw, um c J has not because he does not support with the arts. Having seen it with my allies, I know that I mean j Lo is just heaven right now. She hustlers just proved that if she just wants to be good. Yes, um and and I also think between j Lo and Shakira, what you need for a good super Bowl you need you need

a performance element. It's got to be big. I think, having seen some in person, there are times where it's like, oh, they're doing this for the people at home, and that's what Justin Timberlake did. That sucks because then you've lost eighty thou people. It's like, you gotta get it's got to be big enough that the people in the stadium and at home care. I think they will absolutely do that. They have bangers. You have a privileged opinion on that one though, because we we went to the super Bowl

and we saw j T and I've seen Madonna. You didn't like that at all. No. I thought Justin Timberlake at the super Bowl was one of the worst performances I've ever seen. I talked to a man about his time at the Naval Academy, like, that's how bored I was during some people I thought it was fun on TV. But you're right, like anyone you can captivate a live audience and on television. She did the first song in the tunnel. It's like, motherfucker, we can't see you and

we're in Minnesota. Get out here and entertain us. Yeah, the best part of his super Bowl performance was when Prince was projected for a second. You're like, oh, yeah, that that's a good That was fun. Yeah, like you know, and I'm sure one of you guys will mention it, but Prince it was easily one of the best super Bowl halftime shows. But to just show it's like if you go and watch Lebron and he's not that good and just started showing Jordan's right. Yeah, I love a cameo.

I think that that is also an important to whether it's surprised or not. Like, sorry, j T, you can't carry it, like you just needed that a lot of justin Timber like like puts himself in a category with people a lot that he doesn't belong like a Prince. And then comedians, Yeah, he comedians. Also he did it with Michael Jackson, like with like duetting. I mean, Michael Jackson is bad, but he duet. Duett did a duet

with Michael Jackson. Yeah, and it you can't do it with Michael Jackson because his voice is so weird, and Justin Timberlake is like, I'm as good as him, like and do yeah he I think we just got sort of dry on like solo performers that we just started

forcing j T in that well, Michael. I do think it's important to note that, like for the super Bowl, the NFL is a certain way and the American public is a certain way that they have to pick someone that most people will like, which is almost impossible, so you know it's going to be something like not that great and Shakira Shakira and j Lo feels out of that a little like everyone's gonna like it because they are like hot, hot, hot, So even people that are

like wow, they speak in Spanish will be like damn they look you know yeah. I think when I found they're going to speak Span, they're going to do I would be upset if they did not do just something to do. And they're definitely gonna have a lot of people on stage, which is that's kind of a test of like any good super Bowl halftime show has a bunch of people on stage. I agree, I am pyrotechnics. I have prediction. I think there will be a cameo, and I am hoping and praying it is a little Nozax.

Oh wow, yeah you yeah, you are really hot on Little Nozax. I hope I think we really like him. I don't think no, you're he could do it. I don't know if, um do people like Panini that much. He only had one really good one. But that's for the thing, not for a cameo. You come out and you do all you need to do is an old

town road remix and then get out of there. All right, Well, then let's just get into it before because a lot of the points I wanted to bring up about this current one, I think it plays into the factor of who I picked. Um, But we can start off with our guests. Who was your number three pick for favorite or best or greatest sorry greatest super Bowl halftime act? You too? You too? Yeah, but it's because they it's

sort of like a trick. But I so I watched the top fifteen of them or something, and you two does the post nine eleven see like, I fully hate you too. Yeah, I like cannot stand that I don't care about them, um, and so that does not surprise me. I mean, I remember when it happened. But it's like, that's like, so it's almost hacky. It is kind of hacky, but so I but I was like, yeah, right, it's

gonna be So I was. I was watching all of them, and honestly, I don't think there's a lot of very good ones, like, uh, you know, it was either going to be for me. It was going to be you two or Bruno Mars and um. But the thing is is like Bruno Mars is too young or something. There's something about it to where I just feel like I just you look, do you see I'm wearing a Bruno marsh for this episode. Well I'll be I can like you,

but what about you two spoke to you? I liked that, And now that I'm saying it out loud, I don't even agree with this is good. But this is good. I just thought it was nice. They did the big scroll of all the dead people. Are you my mom? I don't, Yeah, I mean the problem the fundamental flaw with me doing this with I don't discount yourself. I don't like I don't really like any popular music at all.

That's why it's immediately the music doesn't matter to me. Yeah, okay, no, And I don't think if it was like if it was the cure something, well, that's about as popular as it gets. Who because I have someone who I would love to do the super Bowl who I think would actually okay, so it's Share. I think Share. She would

be so many hits Ken Dance. Everyone loves her and like is seventy two years old, and we would be like yes, and she'd have something to say and probably and she would have a young person come out and do something like she could do it. But they will never have her because that's just like not the demo might say something controversial, they buck the demo. Well, the funny thing is the NBA the most progressive league out there. They say two or three. I think it was two

years ago. They had sting to the halftime show at All Star weekend and not even the people in the crowd. They had to hire people to stand around the sea. So I think that's the fear. Is like those guys are solid, they have hits, but it's like the conscious of the people watching right now just want what they like. Now, can I say something that's going to be controversial, No one's gonna like you too? Is not even American like to be like, here's this performing for Australia posts fire.

It's because I watched this damn documentary and these football guys were all crying and sad and that you too thing isn't nice. It's just okay, no, I I've gone and also I've gone down a rabbit hole of big iconic shows and performances right after an eleven, Like if you go on YouTube, it's like the first the first NFL game after was really really emotionally and you're just like, I mean, we all just wanted to feel something else. Guliani because what do you do? What do you do

as YouTube? They're probably already picked it right, that's so what do you do as YouTube? And all their big thinking was there's not much of a spectacle. They don't have backup dancers or anybody else on stage. They just have a big screen that says all the names. That's the only thing that they did other than have that runaround stage thing that Honestly, Bonna was probably happy. He's like great, I get to just stand well, yeah, he is like the poster boy for selling out right, like

he's I mean, he's quote unquote George Bush. Yeah, he's like anyone who wants him who and he gets a check, he'll be into. So I'm not surprised by that. But you know that you two is one of the names you there are. They are a timeless band, I think, even though they're forced on our phones, like when you get a phone, it's already on there. But um, it's I think it's a good one to start off with. Um, let's take a break here and then we'll come back

Okay, So before I get into my Super Bowl halftime picks, I would just like to say my halftime picks for um because I love halftime shows overall. The quick change artists, God Bless You, Grandma's Dancing, the hip hop Thank You, and the Monkey that Rides the Dogs Back. Those are

my favorite halftime shows. You don't like them? The has been rapper that we've been seeing no no, no, no no, do not give me a rapper so he can't even lip saying to unwrap, I mean, listen well, Instagram story for sure, but if there is a monkey riding a dog's back, I am woo hooing like Peyton Manning has just run onto the field. I love that ship. There's also a dog that jumps and grabs the frisbees. He's so talented chair stacking. Yeah that is good, but yes,

that's very good. The quick changes. I love to Um okay, so my number three is two thousand three Beyonce, that is who was built. Then Kelly and Michelle come in at like the tenth minute, like not even early, and the just Beyonce's vision is good, like everything she does is cooler than if anyone else doing it, like the videos they did, the arrangements, the dancing, it's also top notch.

And and I guess I've I've seen her in person at a concert and I know how I fell, So I'm like, I do think that they all felt that. And then Kelly and Michelle pop up, like the Charlie's Angels music video and she goes Destiny's Child, and I like, watched it last night and my nipples got hard, like it's so good and they all look incredible and are dancing and singing and like doing booty licious and it was just we as a country did not deserve it.

I think I'm changing mind. It is incredible. I mean, if I had to pick Beyonce to do it every year, I mean I think if you had to pick one person to do it every year, it's probably Beyonce is on my list as well. But it's what it's a different show, but she has it's the total package. It's what justin timber like proof that he doesn't have the total package anymore. But Beyonce singing, dancing history, just like beauty, it's all there. And when you watch maybe this should

be my number two, because my number two. When you watch it, it's just so seamless. Like a lot of times these shows, you're like, and now we're transitioning to the next hit, and like there is nothing and that there is no filler in Beyonces. There's always something visually interesting and beautiful to look at. And she just you can tell that she's singing at points you can tell Kelly and Michelle we're singing like it just really was amazing.

I also think, and you talk about like cameos and stuff, you can Beyonce's music. You can integrate all types of genres with it, like you can have a Bruno, you can have like a rapper, come on, you can have like I don't know, I just think, um, she Yeah, she's easy to work with. I honestly can't tell if she was how I've listed this on my document. I can't tell if she was my one or three because now I'm speaking so passionately about it that maybe she was my one. Um, I just I'm a huge Kelly

and Michelle fan too. Um what was the other Destiny child Michelle? No, there was was four? Well so they were so there were four when they like did star starts and were first starting out and then two of them left. Kelly has always been there and then Michelle joined. Yah, but Kelly, Kelly and Beyonce have been together I think since the beginning. I may not be right, but like

since preteen hood, Kelly has had a had a career. Yes, so Michelle is a very successful like gospel singer and Michelle is so I mean they're both really really Michelle was the one for me as a kid. Her in that Survivor video, I was like, yeah, I think Michelle is stunningly beautiful. Yeah I didn't. I didn't get care too much for Beyonce is I didn't think she was very like she wasn't my cup of tea as a kid from from that first one? Yeah, what was her

first single? Um? I forget Bill say my name. I mean that's when I first um was like wow Beyonce. Um, okay, no, no, no no, I'm say talking about these other worms. No no no, no. If you know, sometimes you say crazy things like I said someone the other day and you were like, you were like, you're hotter than Charlie then, and it's like that's an insane thing to say, c J. Because now you're lying to me, and it's like, just don't. I don't think I'm hotter than but I don't think Charlie

is as good at stand up as you are. But that's not hot up. But I stand up as one of my favorite things. But I bet Charlie would be pretty hot to stand up if she Like we did a few years in Chicago and like, didn't you know,

performed without industry noticing. Alright, my my number three pick um Again, I feel like it has some controversy to it, but I think that j t Janet performance was I thought it was incredible obviously there's a controversy to it, but we have to remember and we talked about timber like being bad in this recent one, but he shouldn't have been allowed to do it because and here's the thing, when he did it and let me read off the

set list. So the set list of when JT and Janet did that one super Bowl, which I think is the one that everyone thinks about when you think of super Bowl thousand four, was it it goes rock your Ball, he goes Filthy, which I don't really remember that song, I'm sure if I heard it, but rock your Body senor read a Sexy Back, My Love crimeer River, suit and Tie and Until the End of Time. Those are maybe the only good justin Timberlake songs to day. I think suit and Tie wasn't out yet, but maybe wait

when was Wait? When did this is? Two thousand and four? Yeah? Yeah, isn't that crazy? Crazy? We were in high school and when he did Sexy Back, Yeah, it's that one album and I didn't Maybe this is just my preference, but I don't think so either, because I was living in l A when that came. I remember the music video. Maybe well, in Suit and Tie was like two thousand and like fifteen, I think, But it's because none of

those were Janet songs and they obviously didn't. Chance were just reading like CD cover you just send out your husband Google is just wrong. Okay, but left it to that. But I think, um, during that that was when JT he got rid of in sync. He wasn't. She was the star and he was the sidekick. What's that song that she started? No? No, no no. But then also to just like that that moment, was that the nipple thing or the tassel dominated that was the first like

viral thing I ever remember. I think YouTube was created because of it. Yeah, it was everywhere. And the reality is she has been banned for life. Why though, because they because of the patriarchy. I mean, what do you mean why? And he he is the one who pulled it off. First of all, I don't think it's that big of a deal. I was I was younger than eighteen, and it didn't like make me go out and show my nipples to everybody. It's like, okay, whatever, And he's the one who did it. Yeah, and he is. I

don't know. I would love a documentary and it has to be. It had to have been there's no otherwise, that's assault. And I think when so when we were seeing when he was the performer, um, I guess it was two years ago. Yeah, I was like, it's sucked up. He should have said no. And then I was like, oh, she must be coming out. That must be I thought that was what was going to happen, that's what's and then that's going to be like a feel good, nice thing.

And then when that didn't happen, I was like, go funk yourself, especially because he was so boring. Yeah, the Man of the Woods, which never really I can't name a JT song now say something, say that's it. And actually the last JT song I probably like was that Michael Jackson song, which well, come, I just don't even say it. That's what you have to say. No, But I like the song, but I don't like the person. I don't get listen to it. I actively avoid him. Okay, great,

thank you, um. But yeah, I think JT for a second, we did think he was going to appear next Michael Jackson. I think there's people that absolutely think he is but even better than they're like, he's so good at comedy and dance, and it's like, well he aligns himself with everything popular and hold hands with someone that's not your wife again, whoa. It wasn't like it wasn't like a fanning, but it was some something in that in that area. So yours is Janet. Yeah, I just think the moment

was so big and so good. Also, I was gonna say too, I think that was when I started noticing how important of a spot like getting to do the halftime show is because and I just looked it up. In the nineties, it was like Broadway, it was like there, I looked up one I think it was they did the Indian like it was a theme as Indiana Jones.

They were doing like Macy's Day Parade. There was one called something Grant and had eighty eight grand pianos, which well, it was interesting too, Like I was watching clips of like watching the full and you can truly see the progression of advertising seeping into it. Like one of them, they're like no pepsi, pepsi PEPs Like pepsi is so intertwined in them, and the further back you go, they're

they're just not. Yeah. The e trade it says he trade in the bottom of the screen during the nine eleven YouTube Jesus Christ awesome, alright, what what is your number two pack? You're not gonna like it, Megan, No, Michael Jackson, but we can't. It was huge. I don't remember. I would watch that all the time when YouTube came out. That was like the first one of the first things I would go watch just because I remember it. And he dressed like a damn superhero and that with the

bands marching band outfit. What year was this three man so peek? Bad time for him? Yeah, I think it's like right before or right after the first allegations? Did I think as a society when sleprities don't do bad things? And then happened and then we're like, oh they do, Oh yeah, we have a quiddit. We Also, I didn't know about it when I was when that came out, I was a child. You weren't doing deep research on

other children's trauma. Um, wow, okay. But so he comes out first he does from the ground, well not at first. He comes out. And then he stands there for over a minute without moving, like the post just kind

of just like anything. He's just wearing sunglasses and he's standing like a statue for a minute, and then he goes in and it's the coolest freaking thing ever. And then I mean, imagine a world where he isn't a pedophile, Yeah, And I try to imagine. I think I think a lot of people are living in that world because I mean, okay, here's I looked up here's his set list, and this is from Is this going to be real? Yeah? He did um the listen justin timber Um. No, he did jam,

And for those of you never been to a super Bowl, it is the most entitled group of men you've ever seen in your life. That's all that's there.

And these assholes like true like I couldn't figure it out, but then also like refused to do It's like, just fucking do it for Madonna, you got you don't need to be cool in front of your boss. Just light up your thing and wave it around your check ass, all right? And then he ended with a child children's choir saying we are the world and then heal the world. Yep, I mean ninety three you imagine. Let's hope he didn't get any one on one time with those kids, you

know he did. Yeah, there's a documentary for about those kids. I like, like you'd be like that. I like that one that invite them back. But he did a good job at the thing is singing and his dancing, and he had a lot of people on the stage, which is what makes it good. And you know, I find any other one the pickle than that, and now I do, just even though I didn't see it, I have decided to replace Beyonce with you two or the other way around,

the other way around. But uh, and you know, I'm sure one of y'all can sway me to replace um, you know one of y'all's with I mean Michael Jackson. And I can't remember if it was billed as Bruno Red

Hot Chili Peppers or if they were a surprise. Well that's why I was going to ask you guys, because until we started doing research, everyone's like I love when Bruno does it, like he did it like twice and he only did it once. He only did it once, surprise. And one of them who was he a surprise with it was one of my picks, but cold Play, Bruno and Beyonce were a surprise. Yeah, because cold Play, but they knew cold pleep. I mean when cold Play, that's

why I forgot. It's like, we don't need this, but we do need that. They needed two stars. Um. Bruno just has so many bangers. His band is cool. He danced it like, he does a dance move in it at one point that's so amazing, and whether or not he's lip sinking or not, you cannot fake you're dancing. And he has like an actual amazing performer. And then when the Red Hot Chili Peppers come out, you're like, this is fun. I didn't need them, but you are like,

this is fun that the one who is funny. Fully, they're both pretty funny, and Flee kind of cracks me up. They're just NonStop having to be funny, so they don't do Heroin well and also to talk about another performer doesn't speak English. And then it's like then Bruno comes out, but yeah, I mean, do you remember I watched earlier He does a drum. Bruno does a drum solo, and

we're just everyone's mesmerized. I think it's also important to note that this was the first time in like the modern era that the Super Bowl was being played at an outdoor stadium in a cold weather city. This was

at MetLife in New York. So because you're like watching, you're like, all these people are in coats, and then and then you like see the fireworks go off, and it's like, damn, he's outside in New York in the middle of February, and I'm sure he's fine, but to like get a crowd that hype while they're standing in so zero temperatures, like he didn't even have comfort on

his side. Yeah. I just think about Bruno and I almost like if if there's a biopic about him and you were watching perform, like the first time you see me, go that guy is going to be a super Bowl performer. Like everything about him it's incredible, and he's He's the closest thing that we have two trends in Michael Jackson, Like people constantly are like, we don't have We've lost. It's like we have freaking Bruno. Mars is kind of a mix of both, and it has good songs. He

has really good songs. I guess people don't count him because he sings kind of like he sings like if Michael Jackson sing better. I think people don't respect his music. I think people don't like his songs. I think people just think he's short. Well, I think I think they might not respect Prince is shorter than Bruno Mars. I think that people don't have as much respect for him,

maybe because his songs sound like other songs. That's his biggest flaw is like got sued for you get sued for every song he comes out with because they sound

so much like he makes them better. No, but I mean so the set list for the two fourteen when he was the headliner, it was like locked out of heaving treasure like in just those and the Runaway Baby Give It Away, which was a red hot but like locked out of having treasure as a Bruno fan, or maybe his best songs without controversy, No, without controversy Uptown Funk though, that's like what was talking about it Just like he's awesome, the video is awesome, and his dances

are awesome and just the vibe, but like it was an existing already smashing. He is also somebody that like my parents love, like my three year old niece loves, like everyone loves Bruno and you don't know what race he is. Fully you know, he's racially ambiguous. So we're all like we like it. Yeah, if there's anything, if he ever does anything wrong or is convicted or something, I'm jumping off a building. Okay, I think, you know, I just I don't want to live in a world.

I can't wait for people to be like, you know, she got widowed because her husband killed himself over as a brunote controversy. But he can't really dance, And how come you won't do anymore? You've been asked? Well, I thought he was going to come out at least in the last what's been it's been four years. I think he's too soon. Yeah, and I do think at one point I had a theory that they liked to do like male female alternating. But I don't even know if

that's true because who wasn't last year? Oh good, that was one and that was bad. That was bad. Yeah, I liked it, and that's why the Shakira and j Lo, it's like, thank god if they would have given up, imagine dragons, I would have jumped off of those is like that considered the worst Super Bowl performance of all time. People. It's definitely up there. I think it's just boring and nothing happened, so no one will really even and their songs aren't ever even. You're not even like this is

a Maroon five song. You're like, this is just a song I've heard seven hundred times. So they would start playing ones and people like, oh, this is them. I didn't know. You're not excited to see them. They're not like Showman. They don't move. And he took a shirt off. He took a shirt off. You can tell that he was like, I'm strong. Now I gonna take my shirt off. Yeah, he's got a nice he's strong. But you could tell he was like, this is gonna be cool, cool moment.

But I don't know, he just kind of looks like a tool. I took my shirt off at our wedding. Yeah, it was really funny. It's always good when it's funny. What would you rank me singing Bruno Mars with our Filipino band at the wedding? You guys could do like the Alamo Bowl halftime show, you and him, Yeah, I would. say also a little backstory about Bruno. Bruno cameo with the Cold Play was the first like TV viewing event I remember with Wit in the mansion and and I've been watching TV with him and our roommates for years, and I remember, do you think you should give like a little context to the word mansion. We don't want the listeners at home to be confused. I moved to

this this town many times with comedy. What ended up happening was I moved into a mansion with nine other comedians where we just watched TV in the in the living room in order dominoes. And I remember, I think it was like the moment where I like kind of

people realize who I was. It's I'm just kind of like a pivotal moment in my life where I just I think I was so outwardly into Bruno Mars and that that people were like, oh, this guy just likes this stuff, just like a little little short guys singing hits and dancing, and so I remember just being like that really important. I don't even remember that. What is about me? You know? I mean, it's just we watched TV so much and was the mansion nice? Oh wait,

maybe I do remember this because was we're got. I think I stood up. We're buddy and Clay and Rod like doing some bit to the TV about Clay. Clay was pointing at the TV. Funny, well, I think we are. We would interview the TV. We would like go up and like interview the TV. Was the mansion night? Uh yeah, it was nice, but technically it had been nice at some point. Um. Yeah. So no, actually i'll show you pictures of what it looks like now because they kicked

everybody out and they redid it. But it was the kind of place the day we moved in, like we opened the cabinets and they would just the doors would fall off and stuff like that. It was it was built to look nice and photos. Okay, so that's why you guys has sort of like grown up little rascals

were allowed to live there. The owner wanted it. What he wants it's a it's an actual mansion, like our neighbors were, who, well nobody, Yeah, our we had like famous people living next to us, but are nobody would buy it because of the way that it was kind of designed, so he couldn't sell it. It was a tin bedroom house and uh so he was trying to rent it to just a bunch of people until he could come up with a plan for how to sell it.

And then he did sell. He did like eventually come up with the plane and had to kick everybody out and sell it. Okay, sorry, number your number one, magh. So my number one is two thousand seventeen Lady Gaga. Uh and this was the one I was probably like the most excited for until this year, but I think

Lady Gaga was even more excited. If you guys remember seventeen was a interesting, sometimes very sad time in this country, and I think the super conservatives of the world who do love football were like, what is this bitch gonna do? Like We're like, really, it felt like it was going to be something for us. And then she started the show with what I think is like a beautiful rendition

of God bless America. Um, which was probably listen if as like a feminist, like what I have wanted her to like go harder on something, Yeah, but like it's just like kind of not the place to be able to do that. And I'm sure the NFL had had like lots of conversations with her, and I think, given like the parameters, that was a really beautiful way to start it, to be like, yeah, this is a great song. I am this wacko who wears meat dresses, but I like love this country and I am honored to be

able to be doing this. And then she jumped off the building and people make fun of that. I thought it was so cool, and I think it's like, I mean, it's obviously prerecord. It's like who can't when people with pre record? It's like everything you watch is pre recorded. It's crazy to be mad from a production level. And then she like um descends like as a spider, like she doesn't come down in the normal way, like she

truly comes down cool. And then it's standing at the top of this thing and I've seen her live too, and it is so good, Like she has so many hits. I thought she did an amazing job. She was singing live for sure. I remember people being crit call of her body, which was crazy, like she had like you could see her stomach and people are like, her stomach

doesn't look good. Like everything. Everyone's reaction to her body was so fucking nuts, wasn't she She looked incredible and she was really dancing, like she just is an actual artist, and to have an artist to perform at the super Bowl and do it in a way that it seems like everyone did like she killed up. Yeah, she was great. She's the uh I I picked a lot of these just because I knew they would be different than what y'all said. But she's I think the closest for me

to the Michael Jackson. Like the way that she used the place and didn't she end it on the piano? I think so Yeah that I remember thinking was really cool. And I also remember thinking she's probably gonna do some badass ship about the election, and then the way that she opened, thinking like, oh this is la unifying. Yeah it is. Um it's like a dad thing, but it's like the biggest statement you can make is killing it, you know, rather than just like piss everyone off. But

it's like, yeah, playing god best America. Is kind of just like I'm just gonna, yeah, destroy it. I'm gonna give zero opinion. And because like we do know her opinion. You know, she also suffers from like crippling pain, um, which is why she jumped off. That was that huge meme where she jumped off the stage right and she it's the way it shot it, but she disappeared right, yeah, when she jumped off the roof of that right, the thing where Michael Jackson stood up on that. But that's

so it's such a funny meme. It's still being used to this day. Um. But yeah, she I think she's maybe I would have her any year the same way. Bruno, Yeah, I love her. It's a good time for pop stars, really, I think so Bruno, Mars, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna all get to exist in the same period. It's pretty cool. Yeah, I can't think of any other ones. Um, I mean, Arianna, Taylor, Taylor and Taylor don't really dance and do all the stuff. They don't want to. They don't want to hear you

say that. I'm sure that. I'm sure Taylor Will has Taylor done it. She's come out at some point, right, I think so because she seems very like reaching across it, like everybody like she would be a good person to do it. Okay, are you ready to give your number one? Yeah? I hope it's great. Okay. I was like, we're going to be in trouble if none of us pick him. And this is why Maroon five pissed me off so much. Um, I can't remember the exact line that Prince said. Maybe

you could look it up. Uh, the line that Prince says before he does a guitar solo in the Super Bowl. He says, like guitar or something like, or I play my guitar. And then he does this amazing guitar solo during like Purple Rain or some just amazing song and it's during the rain and they weren't planning for or whatever. You know, you can you make it rain harder? Yeah? He says something else, um, before he does a guitar solo,

And then Adam Levine said the same thing. He copied him before doing some cheesy guitar solo and a Maroon five songs, and Adam Levine doesn't even I'm sure he does. But he's the kind of guy where you put a guitar on him, and it doesn't like, doesn't look like he even knows how to play guitar, even though he does. Anyway, I don't know the Prince. It's just he's got all these cool songs and he has all this cool integrity

and he's just a really good player. But then also they started raining and he kept doing it, and his song had rain in the time, you know, Like his most famous song is about rain and he's one ft tall, and he is one ft tall. Um, I think that is thought of universally as the greatest I'm not unique and you are. This is also controversial. Prince does not speak to me, um in the same way that people to him. You'll become too horny and I'll change your life.

I don't know. Yeah, I just like didn't go up with it, and I don't know. I didn't really grow up with it either. I found him, I don't. I can't. I always like a Prince song when I listened to it, But I can't really name off anybody, but he he was so mysterious to me. That's the only thing about him being a super Like super Bowl halftime shows, he was pretty He's been pretty mysterious. Well, he's just I grew up with him because my brother is so in

the guitar and I remember seeing him. I always like Michael Jackson, and I always thought Prince was boring. And then when I was like ten or something, Prince was playing at the MTV Movie Awards or Music Video Awards and he had like assless pants on and he was playing guitar, and I remember going, ha ha, this is stupid, right Johnny to my big brother, and Johnny's like, no, Prince is actually a badass. And my brother, who likes like a hardcore music and grind like metal, said Prince

is a badass. And I remember thinking, like, okay, Princess school I have to like. But so yeah, I don't know. I don't know if someone like Prince would be picked now to do it though, because he doesn't. He's like an out there performer that is just like, well, so I have a list up now. This is from this is should be track record dot net. These are people that like have not done it, that they think would do a good job or are potentially. Taylor Swift is at the top of it. It's like truly crazy. She

has since she'll obviously be doing it. Um Men five is on this list. They obviously already did it, um Ed Sheeran. No, he does have a lot of He would have to have cameos. He would have to have probably two of them. He does have a lot of hits and he does play the piano. The guy from yesterday should do it, Adele, I think that would be a tough sale. I want to I don't want a person who around um Drake's a very bad reformer. He's not He's not a good performer. Now this someone I

love who I think would make an amazing halftime performer. Pink. Oh yeah, Pink is great. Pink would be She can do all that aerial stuff she's got and all of her hits are like drank, you know, like everything is celebratory. Have you watched the thing of Pink like now reflecting on all of her looks, where she's talking about how much she hated herself. Well, I saw Pink live in concert and she does that and then her daughter, she did like a really beautiful speech um to her daughter.

She got a Lifetime Achievement Award at the MTV Music Awards and gave this beautiful speech to her daughter that they've now incorporated into her live show, and her daughter like runs out in waves and it's so sweet. But it was about how people were mean to Pink about her looks, and then her daughter one day came home and was like, I'm ugly and it like made Pink reflect on all the time. That's how she felt too. Yeah,

she's done, but she's done. She I think she's done, like the n be a All Star game because and I almost wonder if sometimes they look at those people as like a like that's the training ground for you know who I has the I don't want them to do it, but I'm surprised they haven't. If they haven't, is the Black Eyed Piece, Yeah, they've done it. Yeah, And I think that was like like early they did it m l m F a O with a cameo and that was I mean, imagine Dragons is probably going

I think it would be kind of cool to have like a Pearl Jam or or um God who the guy's axel Rose and like do like a throwback, Oh I got a good one post Malone as yeah the middle and then he collaborates with so many people that you can Yeah, he would be a good one at Sunflower at the super Bowl, like now he may come out driving. Yesterday I was like, this might be my favorite song last like five years. I think it's my favorite popular song last year. For sure.

He may be somebody that they're like, do we put him as a cameo now? Because like I wonder who books this? You don't want to put someone as a cameo and then like in a year or two be like they could have been a headliner. I think they want to wait for him to be not as stoned look like acting. Well, I don't want that. Um I bet Ariana Grande will do it. I would imagine Justin Bieber will be a part of something at some point. I don't know if he still DJ Khalid. I'm sure

we'll be on stage someday. What about Rihanna? Yeah, Rihanna would be but there is this thing killed it at all story there is this. You know, when jay Z said that, he said no, he was asked to do it and said no. Um. But now jay Z likes the NFL, he's a partner, um, And so I think there were people because Rihanna said no, I believe um. So I do think there are people that now I don't know how the Kaepernick thing will fully check out.

He obviously won his lawsuit, but they were definitely artists that were waiting to see how they handled that because I think there are people that big, like they definitely would want Rihanna, who she's just like, I don't want to be a part of this. Yeah, you know who would be great. I don't think she's quite there yet, but you'd love it. Casey Musgraves, Yeah, Dixie Chicks would be awesome. Dixie Chicks are stadium tour. Oh, I would love it. We've made all our picks. I want a segway. So you have a music comedy special coming out this month on HBO. Wait when this will be?

Oh cool? Yeah, it comes out on February twenty second. Okay, But if you were to because you play you've been playing music since you were a kid, and you've just started doing in your comedy in the last couple of years. If if you became a celebrity, became huge, and you were to perform a super Bowl halftime show for some god crazy reason, you can do covers? What would you do and tell us to paint the picture of what your show would be like? What they should ask me that?

Hold on, I have to do hold on, hold on, I gotta do covers. Okay, Okay, okay, you can do covers, you can play whatever. You can even describe a part of your special that you think would fit in a

super Bowl show. Well, I would probably play uh, well okay and this this reality okay, if I'm to get become successful based on my comedy special for HBO on February, which is which is it's also kind of sad that now we're like, if I become successful from my HBO special, But because nowadays there's so many, a lot of people they just cut. My dad's always like, dude, every ling's gonna happen. Everything you've been in l A for fifteen years, here it comes and I go, oh, what about what

do you think of these? Do you know Julio Torres? And he's like nope, yeah, he had a great comedy especial that came out a few months ago HBO. Yeah. So in this reality, this comedy specially that I have is based on my mom's music. That's the jumping off point for it. And so I think I would play a lot of my mom's music because her songs are eighties synth pop kind of country songs, and so I

think they belong at a at a halftime show. There's one called He's Hot, which is the I talked about in my stand up special, um that I think would be great for that. So I would do it. Definitely do a cover of that, and then I probably figure out how to do a cool cover of some other and people at home would be like, this sucks. And then we'd be like, that's from his mom, she passed away, that's from music, and and they still be like this sucks.

Well No, in this world, though, my mom becomes massive and then they do a hologram of her. Yeah, I mean that sounds great. I'd watch that, No, I I wish I had a better um No, I think that's probably do some Blink at two song. I don't know, damn it, I would do damn it's how's damn it go? Uh? It's all right? Tell me what'd you take about me? You know that one? What happened? Once again? I'm just thinking during the time when they were famous, if they

could have played probably not. I think they're hit. That was a huge hit though, But like think about Red Hot Chili Peppers. That's like an iconic band. Our friend has a tattoo of them, and they were a cameo to Bruno mar like you got to be so big? Yeah, yeah, I mean Blink at two it's probably has songs that are popular enough. I don't think that their performance would The Best Boys would have been fun to be a cameo. Yeah,

BC boys would have been really cool. Damn, I'm trying to think of Yeah, rappers, actually, I would just go outs. I mean they have comedians open up for bands all the time. But um, the thing about rappers is like it was in Atlanta last year, but they who came out right rappers are just notoriously bad though you can test these, Yeah, but that's something maybe he didn't and

I just wanted that to happen. Yeah. The thing is like Bruno, Bruno was tweeting, like, you have an opportunity to the NFL have a rapper in Atlanta for Super Bowl and they just totally just ignored that. But um, but yeah, any other honorable mentions you guys can think of? Well, so, like it's funny because some they do have a lot of old they've had. Like the one on the list that I was looking at that is voted the best,

second best other than Prince is Bruce Springsteen. I kind of this one and I don't really know money of his songs. Watched it and I was like, this isn't doing anything for me. And then the same Tom Petty, who I know all of his songs. I watched his that was like number five on the list, and I was like, this really isn't doing anythow. It's really no different than and that's it's just a concert. Yeah, it's just kind of a concert because like has Elton John

ever done? It has Russia, Um, that's a great one. Billy Joel like them together, their concert together is great. Like if they were like no, no, no, no no, not banging on their piano. I mean, since Rocketman was kind of a big movie, have Elton John come out. May not want to. Maybe that's what it is. Maybe you gotta have legacy and hot new performance. Yeah, but with this you got a factory and that there's people

that don't want to do it. Can I tell you funny story about Billy Joel when my mom and dad and you see him in concert when I was five, and to me at the time, Billy Joel looked and I was far away, looked like Jerry Seinfeld, And so I thought that I was watching Jerry's because he'd also tell a lot of stories and he would walk to the mic, and I thought we were at a Jerry Seinfeld concert and that Jerry sein It was a really

good singer and he would also play pianos. So then I would go watch the TV show with my dad and I'd be like, that's crazy. They never incorporate his singing or piano playing into this entire show. But meanwhile he's just sitting on that talent they and it looks so different now there's not one. But back then they cut money money. I bet they've seen the same plastic search and yeah, they've gotten botox at the same office. All right, well, thank you so much for being on
