Welcome to the Greatest, a production of I Heart Radio. Hey, guys, welcome to the Greatest. I am Megan Gaily and I'm joined by my husband. Yeah, I mean yeah, I'm sorry the husband formerly known as husband. It's just very real. I am your husband. I'm c J toldono um but yeah, it's just it really m I mean you just ate a fruit by the foot, fruit by the foot. I had a cold brew coffee and I'm across from Megan and Lisa. This you're not You're not. You have to
give the credits. Well, I also wanted to say, Megan, you gave him the fruit by the foot, make fun. I'm only making only making fun of him. The sense of husband and fruit by the foot usually does not go in the same sentence together. Well, welcome to my new definition of husband. Yeah, you're like, I'm a husband cheat an eat food. I think she's classic. Husband's like an idiot, right, Yeah, you're like a sitcom piston but Asian. Yes, but listen, do you need to know the listeners need
to podcast. We need to paint the visual picture. I am Asian. Do you think anyone's like he doesn't sound ation Telega was pretty Filipino if anyone's in the No, in the know, but it sounds pretty Italian. You grew up in Skoke, Illinois. Um, we are joined today by our mutual closest friend. Yeah, has left in both of your beds, platonically, no one closer to us. We've shared a bed. Yes, I forgot that was. She slept in your bed just as much as you slept in hers.
You will you will know her from Comedy Central, a Netflix Degenerates special Lisa Trager. Hello, I'm so happy to be here. We're so happy to have you, l A. Yeah, you're and you're so you're just moving here from new work. Yes, we met in Chicago and you already you've already said you're just so excited to be here because you you're getting a place, you're still kind of settling. Yeah, and so many friends are here, and I just got sick.
I don't know, I'm I'm done. I didn't realize how much I hated the cold weather until the move got so close where I'm like, oh my god, I will never have to be cold again and just wear a cute leather jacket. And that's just the anticipation of that is very thrilling. It rained yesterday and it was almost like everybody was congratulating each other, like we need this. Truly, it was like a win for a team, like wow, we did it. Yeah, because when the l A is greener,
it's more beautiful. It's so pretty. I I honestly think it looks like Ireland. I don't know about Ireland has the Capitol Records in the middle of music, the arc Light Ireland. Um. But yeah, no, truly l A. I mean, I feel like I've always trying to convince you to move from New York to l A. But now you you get it, you see, and now that I do go to New York and little spurts. You know, I see some Broadway shows, I see some r and it just is a more magic less carbon monoxide in my apartment.
I see some Broadway show I thought you plays last week? Wow, you really do New York right? Yeah. It's never been to a Knicks game though, sorry, been the Nets, Mets and Yankees. You we do? Yeah, I mean it's like, um, you know, MSG the Knicks are such an iconic thing in sports. But truly, if you want to get to the basketball of it, it is atrocious to watch. No. I was happy that my first MSG experience was a Rangers game and we sat like on the on the
glass what it's called. I think I believe that we sat maybe two rows back from the glass, and that was great because I was like if I was here for basketball. But NIXT games are like so iconic in romantic comedies or how to lose a guy in ten days is they go there's that there's really a celebrity row is what it's called his courtside and it's like SNL people or whoever is trying to whoever's paying a PR person that makes that look like they're dating. They'll
sit in the front. Like I hope to someday be able to pay a PR person to get me on the big screen. But yeah, I would love that. I've never been to a hockey game, but my only experiences at Madison Square Garden have been Adele in the Dixie Chicks. So not very but doing better than the next. I want to give a little bit more context, So Lisa, I mean, this is what's going to happen on the podcast. I feel like a bunch is you don't even like
sports that much. Of course I like sports I'm just not educated in the current players, and I don't know football rules, even though I played football in eighth grade. Um, but I forget. I always forget about that. I love when people's dreams come true. I love people that work hard to achieve their goals. I love seeing excellence, so like I love seeing champions, and you know, I enjoy athletics. You know you have like a I can name all
the NBA teams. You know, that's my party trip. That's the party trip you have some people have, you know, the ping pong you got it up. I was sitting with a couple of our friends and I went, I didn't plan this. It wasn't like I studied. I was like, we were stoned, and I just said, how many teams do you think I can name? And they said ten? And suddenly I just went and they were like they
couldn't believe it. And so then I, you know, I keep doing it and it's excitingst Yeah, all right here, I'm with the guests and I'm going to see how they react to me naming each NBA team. We were having a discussion the other night about what level of player we would have to meet for it to go on the Instagram like timeline instead of just a story like like I was like, if I met Drew Brees, I'm storing it. You know, he's not going on the
on the Saints. He's on the Saints. Say, I do have some knowledge and he has a cheered like you ran America on the st but yeah, well do you have Is there like a borderline celebrity or athlete that you would go I met Jeremy Lynn and I didn't post it. That might be I was in a photo, but I post that you should post TBT, I'll find I'll find it. I was. He came to the comedy seller. He did, Yeah, do you like you? Um, he was more into the boys, I think, but his girl, the
girls he was with and his friends weren't. That's awesome. Yeah, but they were all kissing his ass like they're all Knicks people or whatever basketball people. He's in China now playing, but you got him. I do love that. I mean, that was the one time I really loved watching Nick's basketball. But um, that's for all geek out. And then I remember when we lived in Hell's Kitchen, Carmelo Anthony went to our beau day, right, Yeah, boys told us he got he liked the Philly cheese stead Yes, wow, that
makes me like him. He just if he didn't know. He just got signed to a team and that was like a big thing, and I'm happy for him. I used to not like him. This is what's happening. Team the Blazers, one of the teams that you've mentioned. I am. I am realizing that my dad's hatred of people spilled into my brain as a child. So like if he didn't like an athlete growing up, then I was like, they're terrible. And now CJ likes all these like bad guys that are like wild and so like some wild
ones like that. But Lance Stevens or whatever. Yeah, but we've found out some do. That's that's you have to you honestly have to be like a educated consumer to know the history of people. I also want to say, um, the way your dad influenced you, you influence I hate the Steelers, that's correct. And when people say anything, I'm like Megan told me, and that's it. You guys are trash and the Steelers are bad and like rapists and there we go. So that's like, but those opinions and
and some of some of this is coming from my dad. Now, my dad has been able to permeate your brain. But then, like when I first met her, her parents ends and
her dad was like, I don't like Lebron. I'm like, you're insane, like you, And I think since hanging out with us, he's sort of now sort of grown onto like why we like these people, And it's for their you know, progressiveness and like doing stuff off the court rather than their He dunks it too much, which hates which so impressive and he keeps getting more impressive, and
all the facts that come out. But being a kid in the nineties and like the Chicago suburbs, it is really hard not to like just you know, think that Jordan is the best. Yeah, that's true. It's hard. I'm not educated, but when people bring up the argument, I'll just scream Jordan's but he is so impressive. No, but I think that's a good, a great perspective to have. Is like, that is an ongoing debate Lebron versus Jordan. But if anyone grew up in the Midwest, or for
you specifically in Chicago, that must have been crazy. Yeah, it was the bat I mean it was thrilling. I played basketball as a kid because of it. You know, I had all the shirts. We I remember going to a Pacers Bowls playoff game and um yeah, and then they scored over hundreds. We all got big. Yeah. We were like cheering for the big Max. And I have a photo of me um with a little like I got a stuffed animal bear Pom pomp fulls person. But
we had such bad seats. We were all the way back and I got he was just like, Reggie, put some sugar on your bald head and go sweet talk back in Indianapolis, and I remember that. I'm like, please do I like remember this man yelling you. It was just the time of my life. So yeah, it was. But I was a Rodman girl, obviously, you know, the tattooed person. I loved Rodman. And you are a white Sox fan, I am, which is shocking because I grew
up in the North Shore suburbs. But I think it's because my sister and her husband met when they were fifteen, and the old school Jews lived on the South Side. And I think that's how the socks you feel more socks to me than cubs. You know. You know, I've been arrested from socks games. I've been kicked out. We went to what I've also been there for Father's Day, Like we have to celebrate holidays there every my birthday.
My birthday party was there. And then there was a game that we went to, but that wasn't we were just going to one. Yeah, remember I was three things to get to the we those. But then we had another time where we got to sit in the bar area and then I cheered and someone went, why did you cheer? Because it was like not for the socks. I go. He really recovered quickly. I was proud of his action and like like a no. But then we
went once with Lindsay. Yes, this is my best friend UM from growing up, and we were we were taking UM the Red Line down south and it stopped suddenly and was on fire. There was smoke, and Lindsay with her bare hands opened the doors side pride the doors open and we all escaped. Heard this story the people and saved the burning train. Oh my god. But then in true Lindsay fashion, we get down. I was dating a guy and so he was like, that's who we
were going to the game with. Doesn't matter. I don't even and then and then he had a friend with him and Lindsay, and Lindsay hated the friend, got in a fight with him, and then we made the friend go sit somewhere else in the stadium. But I also remember there's a photo of us with a man that worked at the stadium when we had winter coats on and that night I remember. But I also have a saving on a Sox fan and my first game was a Sox. I remember cheering a lot and everyone was
annoyed with me. I wasn't a young kid. I will go to Cubs games. I don't care. I've got I love the Crosstown Classics. That's why I'm but I'll go to Cubs game. I don't care. I'm not. I can tell you the oh five lineup of the Socks, but I can't tell you a player. Yeah, Canerico Valentinam I guess that was a team that was a team who won. Krazinski like, I'm like, yeah, I did like him. We are we love mean Knarico was like the horror I feel like because he had opportunities to leave and he didn't.
That's nice, That's that's very days. My brother in law has a packet of seeds that he threw to him once. Okay, um I met I met Ozzy and multiple times I used to work. I used to work in sports in Chicago. And the first time I met Ozzy Gee and he asked me if I wanted to be famous, to which I was like, oh my god, I get and then he goes, if you want to be famous, kill somebody what And that was his advice. Did he kill somebody? No,
I think he was. He was trying to make a larger point about how this country is obsessed with glorifying like violence. I believe he was telling it. Twenty one year old woman in his office is um wife got wax at a salon I worked at. I don't know if that's a confidentiality thing or I don't know. I don't under hip hop. I don't know what that info for. No, Chicago is such a great sports town. I only went
to one Bears game. I didn't like the snacks unfortunately, like the food was and I was with my ex boyfriend and he was not very fun at the time. Well, I hope our friend paid for those tickets. He knows he was a Yeah, I bought these tickets hundreds of dollars and the most expensive ticket in the NFL, like for a lot. I don't know if it is now, but the Bears was the most expensive ticket. I was also a great girlfriend. I got him jay Z Kanye tickets to watch the Throne tour as well. When I
gave him, yeah, what do we go to? Oh? Book of Mormon? Yeah, those were great seats. Thank you. I had extra Book of Mormon tickets. But no, I the reason I'm so mad. He was drunk. It was his birthday, and then I gave him these Bears tickets, thinking like this is gonna be the best thing ever. He went, Oh, I have plans tomorrow with our friends, and I was like, I think you can cancel your plans with Marty. You know. I was so madam, But yeah, I mean now I love Lebron's pink one a a gum. Yes, we we
just discovered that a few weeks ago. Um. Speaking of Lebron though, and we'll get onto the topic. We are going to a Crosstown Classic here. We will have already been to it when this this is That's why you may have been like, why do they keep saying no? That's why I didn't say about Christmas was going to Lakers Clippers. Are you excited? I know I've been bragging all of the time before. I yeah, I think I'm gonna wear a sweatshirt dress. I think that's because I'm
gonna have any high boots. Call that sweatshirt dress Ariana grand day. So I'm gonna I'm gonna group text with the with these two ladies. And I've probably been in it for years that I haven't counted. But yeah, I just get a text with a sweatshirt dress and you said I think I'm going Ariana. What does that mean? I knew what it meant. I don't know. I didn't And then he was like, I gotta plan my outfit. I'm the only one that doesn't have a vision yet for my look. Well, yeah, and then we'll see if
things change. But I feel like that's my I love a sweatshirt dress, so it'll be warm. Yeah. I love that you you have that thought, like what are you going to wear to the game. I think that's that's what I think always. I remember, this is a White Sox thing. But we went. Me and a couple of friends went for the St. Patrick's Day or they have a Saint Patrick's Day in the summer, they have something like that a lot of themes. No one really goes to those games. So we snuck in a bottle of
liquor in a Doctor SEUs white sox hat. It was what we actually used to buy, little pouches of booze sticking our titties. I mean I used to go since I was a teen, like this was my favorite thing. And I have also snuck in vodka in fake tampons to the US open. Yes, is bad, but it was our friend. It was like a new friend of ours and she was She was like, I'm going to bring vodka tampons and I was like, what lesbian ship is this? You know, like we're gonna suck booze out of a
tampon and then they were just test tubes in tampon rappers. Yeah, but US open those drinks. And the thing is we fought on the way to the now, I'm like, what a bargain. Yeah, I worked for the US. I know. I'm so sorry, guys. I really apologized to the U s t A for doing that, But U S t A. I don't think that social media for one of the things that I shot this year. We made the drink
the Honeydus, and I learned the recipe. There's only one shot of vodka in it, and so when I was making it, I put extra in because it was like a competition to see who's tasted better. And I obviously one and they were like that one's better and they were like, yeah, but she made it wrong. It's like, no, I made it right. Like it can't just be one shots.
I think the little tennis falls. I know it's really cute, but you know, I went to a favorite restaurant here yesterday in l A. I don't know if I should say or not, but one tostado was twenty two dollars and it was delicious. But it's like if it was a teen, i'd feel okay, it's just that like extra little bit that's a lot, Like you're just that threshold of twenty for one thing was the poor good a portion. It's delicious, it's delicious, but you can't share it. It
breaks apart. No, you can't share. And then I mean we were the most l A table. One person opted out of eating, and then two yeah, he goes, I just opt out sometimes. And then two girls shared one salad, and then me and one gay guy we each had one toast at and we shared sweet potatoes. I mean later Drewan messaged me being like, I'm still so hungry, very embarrassed to say anything because it kept be like
are we gonna get barata? I'm like, M I guess not. Well, I was on my way there and stuck in traffic, and if I would have been there, I would have wanted that marata. Yeah for sure. Okay, so let's get into the I feel like I feel like I've just been bragging about like no, no, I like sports. I think honestly, I've been your friend for years and that's a lot of sports background that but you don't watched the thirty for thirties. We have friends that we are not asking to be on this not it's not an
open invitation. If you're listening, you're not welcome. But but so it's like you you have enough qualifications as a sports fan that the crushes on them, and we thought you could um that you would be able to do great, especially at this topic, because I think this is like feels, this is like a fun, feel good one. Um, today we're going to be doing greatest duo, cool greatest duos, which you guys are the greatest duok you slide this clever thing in. You guys are a great duo. I
will sometimes just watch you too. I'm like, what is going on? Like what is this? But in a very loving way. Um I, I'm fine to go first. I have one that I that I would like to get out of the way. I've sort of decided that when I'm being a total Indianapolis homer, I need to just like get it out of the way and move on from it. Um I did uh, I did back this up that there are other people that believe this. This is not just me being a psycho. But I got to watch this duo. It will bring tears to my
eyes even remembering them together. But it's Marvin Harrison and Peyton Manning to Hall of Famers. They hold multiple records. They have nine hundred and seventy one completions between the two of them, thirteen thousand receiving arts, and a hundred and ten touchdowns together. That's I don't think that's bias. Okay, Alright, Peyton Manning alone is maybe the greatest quarterbacks. And yeah, I think we all know that and Marvin Harrison's favorite
food is candy. Those are my favorite facts of athletes. When it's like he had fifteen Big Max and then pitch to no hitter, right, it's like the best. I mean, yeah, any thirty or thirty is great because it has gotten people into sports that weren't into like just like stats, and so knowing those stories is really fun. So what does he have particular candy or he just loves kid? You know, you know, he is a very soft spoken man,
does not love to give interviews. This was now in the NFL you can do se touchdown celebrations, but when he was playing you could not, but you it still do some stuff you just couldn't use, like props and everything. And he never did. And they asked him once like why don't you celebrate after you catch a touchdown? And he was like, because that's my job. He's just so sweet.
I mean, I know it is nurmured that he murdered a man was waiting for you to get to it comes up, and we're not going to speculate on whether like an accident or no. I don't believe so he owned. Um. I actually don't know the specifics because I have not looked into it. Then well yeah, then this will be great. Um that's my favorite thing to do, to know nothing
and be an authority. Um. He owned a business that was like a car wash hybrid, like a car wash launder Matt car wash, not strip club, but it was car wash something else. And I believe that, Um, the crime was committed there, but also I think someone went down for it. So it's like, you know, he may murdered him, but he does have a good fall guy, which they do tell them. There was there was an NFL analyst recently. I will not say who who was.
Like I think there was a speech lead where he's like, have somebody in your crew that will go down for you, Like that's what you need. So just like a dumb person that will just like a loyal one like like Lindsay, Lindsay not dumb. But you don't want her to sit in jail for of course I don't. But the thing is that your fall person doesn't. They wouldn't even you don't even have to ask them. They're like, this is my calling. All right, I'm gonna write this on greatest
fall guy. UM, but Peyton obviously Peyton was your quarterback for how many years? Thirteen years? And then you got to go and right for him too. How did that? How was that experience? I mean it was incredible. I definitely felt so like electric every time he would come in the room and you're not meeting somebody like out at a public event, like we were at work, and so I did try and being normal, and then any time he would leave the room, everyone would look at
me and be like, are you okay? That's your hero? And I'm like, I know, but you pay the very chill. I did not tell him until like the SPS ended. We all took a group picture together and I was like, I'm from Indianapolis, and He's like, why didn't you tell him? I'm like, I just didn't want it to be and
like I'm sure. Then he was like I could tell you were a little She was coming home and being like Peyton was like looking at me like this and he was doing this, and I was like, all right, listen, I get it, like Peyton Manning is great, but we gotta pump the play. I was getting jealous of Peyton Manning, but it's like warranted. He's Peyton Manning, so he's just
so good. Would be mad if you found out Megan and Peyton made out, Yes, I would be, But I just wondering, and people asked me this so good, which is so sad for me? Was just like, all right, you hear the news that Megan David Lebron. I'm like, man, that stinks, but that's awesome. Good for them. I just wouldn't happen. Um. But Peyton, like, it was really cool to see him be a comedian too, Like he is
he knows timing. Like watching him, I was like, you're better than so many of comedians I know, Like he understands what he's good at and like his voice and stays in that lane really well. I try. I had like I obviously respected him, but then after working with him, I had like another level of respect for him as a performer. He's great. No c J, you go, okay, you like this one that's going to be well because I know which one you probably are going to say,
and I agree with it, but I didn't. I think so I don't know. I think maybe I know what you guys are going to say. I'm gonna say it at some point to really, I honestly don't feel like no, I mean my first one is a Shock and Penny. You're going to say that I think he's a little guy, right, He's not. I mean he has a little Penny. There is a little Penny, remember a little penny. Clearly that's
what I'm thinking. A little penny. Big Penny is a great du Little Penny didn't play an NBA, right, and he was an action I'm thinking, who's the one from space sham um? Okay, that's for later. But Shack and Penny. I in the last few years, I've only started to appreciate people who were big and playing against Jordan's and the bulls that I can't believe. As a kid, I didn't recognize how great of a duo Shack and Penny were. Just the NBA and pop culture, just like the Magic
back then. I don't know if you guys knew this or like, realize, every kid in our class, no matter what city you're in, head like Orlando, Magic starts. It's just hornets. My brother had a Michigan one, and it's like we live in Indiana, Like there's major schools in Indiana.
But I think it's just a Flyers jacket. But I think it was just the culture of the starter jackets and cool logos and man like, I feel like the NBA and all these leagues were so like buttoned up in Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornet's and Toronto Raptors, like this was the new era of kind of flashiness. And to have Shack who to this day every day, I'm like, we got to thank the Lord that Shaquille O'Neill exists exactly.
And now Penny Hardaway is just he was also one of the greatest point guards I think of the nineties and now is a very successful um and very good coach for college. Yeah, and where's like really fun sneakers and his his signature line with Nike is still like a very popular shoe. So he out recruited everyone, like coach k is like he got the best recruiting class because he's from Memphis, I believe, and everyone was like, yeah, let's a good play for Penny. He like he tried
to come back. He played for the sons Um and I can't remember maybe another team, but his knee he just had like a bad name. How often do players become coaches, I'd say, but not called like former NBA players aren't particularly have a great track record coaching college, Like like they get NBA jobs and they're not usually that great, but like to go to college is just like almost thankless, unless you know you're gonna make a
million dollars, which he didn't know. He went and coached I think a high school after he is sort of his his playing days. Patrick Ewing is at Georgetown right now, so that's really cool too. And it's sort of just like a lot of there's like kind of a road of like, well, this didn't work, this didn't work, and then it's like your alumni might hit you up and
be like, do you want to coach for us? But I just remember Shack and Penny in the nineties being a kid, just during that boom of like cool NBA, flashy colors and logos. Those are those were the guys that I didn't get to show that much love to. That's a fun duo and Skinny Shock totally different his life. Yeah, because I am like he was pretty they were. They were also in Blue Chips together. You'd like, actually, you'd like Blue Chips. I think, Lisa, is it about cops
or no, it's uh, that's chips. Um that's California Highway International place. I think. I don't know if it's international, but yes, so like they were in a movie together before they played together in the end the day. Let's take a quick break and then we'll be right back with Lisa's first pick. All right, now we're back and we're here with Liza's number one pick, number first. Well, this is a risk. I don't know, maybe this is the wrong because maybe it's not a classic duo in
your heart. I'm gonna say Venus and Serena, Yes, I think, um, I have them on my list, so you know, it's not a risk. I think they're badass, hard working, uh groundbreaking, cool gals with so many awards. And I really like that male tennis player who always shuts down sexist things, who someone says, you're the only guy who's won this many Olympic and he goes, actually, that's not I'm guessing because that seems like him. But yeah, they just win
so much. They're so winning, and they love each other and they have so many projects outside. And someone told me they saw them in a nightclub ones just drinking Fiji water and eating crab legs, And I love that dated Drake for a minute, right, Serena. Um, So this is why I guess I wish I did a little research, but just off the top of my head, I would
say those are the winningest, coolest gals. This is why I do think they can be considered a duo is because I think them growing up together and training together and practicing with each other has made both of them better. So they did elevate each other's games, or else it would have just been Serena and Richard hitting, you know, Like it's those videos of them playing as young girls. I played at a tennis court recently and they had
like a huge Venus and Serena banner. It was like a court they played it at some point in their childhood. And it made me cry, Like they have impacted the sport so immensely. And there's all of these young women, many of them like Black American women who now play and it's a direct result of Venus and Serena being
the greatest of all time. Yeah, and they really love each other and I feel like they cheer for each other, and of course, being competitive athletes, I'm sure they're bummed one one loses or they don't make it but they do really seem genuinely happy for each other. Do they ever play doubles together? They've they've won like dozens of Grand Slams. They're excellent together and even when they like lose individually, sometimes they're still in the tournament playing doubles
together and then have to like do that. But yeah, they go just each other. Thinking about what they had to deal with at such a young age for so long, and how awful people are to them, and how graceful they've been through all that, um is pretty impressive as well. There was a tournament that they played in actually here in California near Palm Springs, Indian Wells, when they were younger, and they were treated so terribly that they said, we will never play here again. That's how bad it was.
And only very recently went back, and it was they didn't need to, you know, like they handled that so beautifully and like I can't imagine I would be, like the fuck Indian well I don't need to go to the desert and deal with this. And the response and like the reception that they got was so beautiful that it's like, good, I'm glad that those people are now gone, Like we don't need you to be fans of this sport.
I've been to the US Open probably six times, and this year was the most diverse crowd I've ever seen, and it was incredible, Like there were kids from every single background there and you felt like you were at an NBA game and not at some like waspy rich white event. And they have been like very good about being ambassadors of the game too, so like they'll play against another you know, young black team and who will
beat them. But after the game, it's like, yes, in front of the just hear about the mentorship and kind of just like you know, pushing up and that, and that's trickled down to the younger players. Yeah. Well, remember we watched that. It was um it was Coco Golf lost, I believe to um, the woman who beat Serena in the finals last year. And when she beat Serena, she
cried and her name is escaping me. And Serena was so gracious and then she beat Coco Golf, who was this like massive like overnight success at Wimbledon, who's fifteen years old, and they she consoled her like she was having to give an interview and she's a young girl. She's like fourteen or fifteen years old on national television live and is crying and she was like, no, you come, you stand here with me. We will do this interview together. And I do think that support is because they have
watched Venus and Serena do that. Yeah, you know, not to bring up the patriarchy, but you know, so they're gonna say the patriots. I was like, don't no, but like so much of everything is based on like such a masculine ideals, and so it's nice to see like feminine energy and like being nice to your competitor and like I don't know, just changing the way interviews and everything happen, you know, everywhere, and like being friends with everyone. Soccer team too. You know, she beat her back. It
was like six one, six one. It was this girl's first time on Arthur ash and it wasn't like she went easy on her, but that's what she felt, like remorse for this trial going through it. Thank you. I love them. They're strong. It's like you look at their bodies and you're like, funk, you're working hard. And then that HBO documentary about Serena getting back into it after giving birth and breastfeeding and like almost dying. I mean
it's just that's w Yeah. Sometimes I watched that documentary on planes and just stare at the men around me, like you can't do anything. I can see when for Megan and watches an empowering woman document documentary, just like that shouldn't be around I will get yelled at. Um. Venus and Serena were my number. When I share that with you, I have another one, so c J, I'll let you Um. I picked Michael Jordan's and Bugs Bunny. I mean I think people were like Michael Jordan's but
like Michael Jordan's Bugs Bunny were a duo. Like I mean it started with like just the Nike I was like waiting for the end of the bit and this is my real life. I just think that they I think Tweety brought a lot to the game, but you know, I'm I think he was more supporting casts. Maybe it was best trio, but it is like not. I think
it's really iconic those two next to each other. I think in the Nike commercials and then now Space Jam and now Space Jams being remade, I think there are a lot of sneakers that are like there's like Bugs Bunny edition, and it's like, that's what I fear for Lebron and starting in Space gam two, is that it's gonna be like, no, it's Jordans in Bugs Bunny, It's
not Lebron in Bugs Bunny. Um. Do you think it's self aware enough that they maybe Bugs will make a comment about Jordan and you know there'll be like but I but I just feel like Lebron's camp won't let that happen. Do you think Bugs feels any you know, like loyalty, like you know when they first met, was like, listen, I've done this before. Yeah, I think I think so, you're kind of my second wife. And I think this if are you guys ever going to dress like Lolan
Bugs for Halloween? Well, what do you want me to say it? Yeah? When I when I came, I came home after hanging out with Megan for not the first time, but like, uh, in the last few years. I think it was like three and a half years ago. My roommate Winmer Thomas, another funny comedian, I was hanging out with Megan. I came and I was like, I think I like my friend Megan, and he goes, you only like her because she looks like Lola Bunny. How Ever, did you ever see that in Megan? No, no, because
I think it's because you have red hair. That never so it goes more Jessica Rabbit. So it's like maybe you I just want to rab I think, and I think feature wise now I can see it, but that that's not where my brain. But I do think we have a Bug's Lola. Yeah, dynamic. Do you think my comedy is like bugs Bunny? Yeah? Wow, that's the best compliment I've ever got. That movie was ever. I had the commemorative coins, I had the VH I like, that movie to me was huge. Oh my god, I can't
imagine watch it all the time. I always like, people are like, that's not that good of a movie. And I went back and I watched it holds up. But the first twenty minutes is literally a highlight reel Michael Jordan's best I love the song. There's so much to live up to you in this. In the second one, it was it was like maybe the first time seeing a movie as a child gave me like complicated feelings.
Because I went to the Indianapolis premiere No big deal, Um of Space Jam because my dad was working for some company that was making space Jam plate. So we got to go and it was like every that's what sucked about being in Indianapolis during that time, because it's like everyone knew, but it was like you ruined. Well, it's not even Indianapolis, like we were mentioned earlier. It seems like all the other space Jam players were great players who never got a championship because of the Bowls.
You know, a lot of the greatest of all time, right, just don't have a ring because of that era Um and Megan. I mean, I don't know if we it's for a later episode, but I mean, maybe you should give Baxter and why you don't like Jordan because forever I always thought it was just because he beat the Pacers. He unfortunately, Michael Jordan and I share a birthday as well, uh, February seventeenth, and it's not great to have a nemesis share the day of your birth uh. And obviously I
love sports so much. It's like maybe my number one passion behind like l early people, and so anytime that it's my birthday, if I turn on the television and it's a sports channel or sports show or anything it's all about Jordan's and so I'm almost able to not watch television on my birthday because of my hatred of him. But then also, you there's that story about you going to go see Michael Jordan's. Yeah, okay, this is the
other story. I'm like, oh, it makes sense. So we were going to the Pacers Bulls game, and you just when you're a kid, you're like, I just want to see superstars. That's like the coolest, even now, like they sell season tickets sometimes in off markets by being like Lebron games, and like people want to go. You want to see the mega mega stars. So my brothers and
dad went down early. They were doing a shoot around on the core, like not with the Pacers, but just like hey, little white kids, come and shoot, and so they were doing that, and then my mom, my great aunt, and my grandmother and I were going down later. I mean,
we're bringing elders to this game. And as we were walking out of the house to go, my great aunt fell down like nine steps and broke her ankle and I had to run inside and call one and I was seven, and then the ambulance came and we all went to the hospital and my Dad and brothers stayed at the game and then like came afterwards and we're like, what happened? And I never got to see him play ever again. So I never experienced becks of sitting at
an Indianapolis emergency room. So that makes sense. And I feel bad forever teasing you for not liking Jordan after her death. He's also a bad person, you know. Yeah, I get when you were like, what's the other thing? I mean, like as dad, I don't know, I heard if people were like he would throw ball whip balls
at people's heads at practice. Well that's the thing is like Jordan's I think is the greatest player ever, and that's really where it stops, because off the court, he does not touch what Lebron has done with like any of these new players, Like Jordan never used his platform
for good. He used it to be dominant and be the best at basketball, which I guess there's nothing you know, I don't know that like the moral ethics behind it, but like, you know, you have a platform, you're famous, like speak up against you know, some of the wrong stuff going on in the world right now. And I think he would say that wasn't what was happening during that time. Um, there wasn't social media. There wasn't like there there wasn't this social like justice and that's like
not really, Prince has been doing good. Muhammad was an athlete and an activist. So it's like, I don't really know if that. I know the nineties were like fun and silly, but like you could have done more for sure. Um, okay, on that note of shooting on him but praising him, We're going to take a quick break and we'll break back and we are back. C J is finishing his fruit. You have a little pinch, um, So I guess this
is the time to do it. I do think one of the greatest duos of all time is Pipping and Jordan. That's the one I thought was first going to be said that. I was like, I'm not going to say it. I'll let the people who know the facts say it. You said it, because the thing is I have to be it's a classic duo. Yeah, I have to be helpful. I don't think it's I don't think it's good for me to be like no, not like naive to them.
It's like they won six championships together. They are the greatest like they are the greatest, like pure sport duo. I think now I have one other duo, mad that is athletes, um that, but they're not doing something athletic together, just a game that we have to guess or you're just gonna tell us, um, I mean we can flush out this Jordan Pippen conversation or you're like, how many was Rodman? Therefore for three, so they didn't need a third.
They were like so good to get they needed a third after that after Jordans came back, they needed something else. The league had gotten better. There was like the Sonics really good, the songs to come to six games in that first year back with Rodman, and that was the that was the best Bulls team of all time. So they need Dan for sure. And I do have a respect for that team in general, Like I love Phil Jackson,
I love Steve kerr Um. There are like a lot of my Bulls stuffs incorporated with McDonald's well, because I used to have I would collect the Dennis Rodman cups where his hair would change colors. Those are so cool and so I do it. Just it breaks my heart that my favorite Pacers team had to play in that same era, But it's the same way. It breaks my heart that like my favorite Cults teams had to play in a Patriots era. Like I think I'm just a redheaded stepchild in so many ways, Like it's I it's
a little like lovable loser. Like when the Red Sox broke the streak and then everyone was like yeah, and then they kept winning. It was like, oh, no, we don't like you anymore. So I do kind of like being an underdog. What what Pippen? If? What would what would have Pippen's career looked like without Jordan's um? It'd be tough. The thing is that when Jordan did retire, he still took him to the playoffs and pretty deep. But would he would he have been a viable number one?
And I don't know if anyone would have recognized, oh they're one star away. There one Michael Jordan away. Yeah, I don't. I don't think they win one with just Scottie Pippen, like Scott Pippen, they don't. But like if Scotty had been with Barkley, he did, he was it was there was a Rockets years in the Blazer's years
um and then he never won another Championship. That that's the thing is like he was next he was alongside a team Clyde Drexler on the Rockets, and then he was along like ur Vitas Sabonis, Damon Stanemar on the Blazers and they never want another one. Um. I just don't think he has it. I do think it's important to point out that his wife, Oh my god, there's a dog above us, and the ceiling is glass and
there was a little white pooty. Come on, and when you hear what I was about to point out that Scottie Pippen's wife was on Real Housewives in Miami, so Clarissa, and she's good friends with Kym Kardashian and I follow her on Instagram. She is looking great. She is so hot. They were they like separated and then reconciled. They were going to play on the Hawks or something after one Scotty, you know, and then the Future stuff, right, the rapper Future, he who was actually the ex husband of I think
husband of Sierra, but he is. There is a love triangle between Scotty, Larsa and Future. All right, but that'll be again another episode Love Scandals, Greatest Love Scandals. But oh my god, that's that's so fun, Megan. That is very very nice of you. Yeah, I just think I have to be honest or it's or I'm delusional as
a host. But I love someone that's great at assists because, like I've just gotten as the world the US women's soccer team, and there are people that are just like they're the best at getting the ball to someone that can score. And sometimes I feel that way and like when people do you like to write and writer's rooms
or whatever, I'm like, I'm good at assist it. I'm good at like giving people premises and like that is those people get ignored and it's important to have someone that knows where the passes are and kind of get it to someone did punch up. Was a punch up guy. He's never the head writer, he's never the host. He was in the room for punch Up. He's a good room guy. Um. So my favorite, like I have to google the name of who I'm thinking, my favorite, my
favorite athletic comedy duo is Barkley Shack. They They I like, they bring a joy to my life, um watching them, and like I would say, everybody, Arnie, every everybody that's on that crew, but like them together makes me so happy. I think it's the greatest show. I met Shack recently. I was at the Grove Nordstrum. I was holding a cheesecake factory to go bag and I'm happy he got
to see me who I really am. But they are like my They are the sports duo that has like brought the most joy to my life in recent years. For sure. Is there even a second place like who? Well? Who? What other sports comedy duos are there? Um? I think Reggie and Spike Lee are I had a performative comedic duo. Wow, do they know they were comedic? Like? I think it seems like he does not have a sense of human I think he was. I think they were both like doing a little bit of a character for for the
for the cameras. But yeah, I don't know if there's like a ton of um. I mean, I like when I like when mascots are like reading newspapers and I remember seeing this Boomer was reading a newspaper and Barkley pushed him off the stool. Listen, that's that's that's some hijinks. Yeah, alright, Lisa, what do you got? All Right? Well, I did go
at your Google this. Um, I'm gonna say, Carrie Walsh and Misty May time Olympic gold medalists, and um, they've had a hundred and thirty three victories and unfortunately I'm reading this off the internet, but their prizes of all those victories is only two and a half million, And it's like, can you get they're the greatest beach volleyball
players to that gold medalists? Yeah, I mean they're both and they've had children throughout those years and they you know those it looks like tar those stickers that athletes put on their bodies. Their bodies are covered in this I forgot what medium, but they had a funny joke of like what man convinced the girls that those are the outfits to wear, like the smallest outfit they were KINI the bikinis vikki much and like they all have like long pretty ponytail like braids. Um, and I did
have to google like their exact names and stuff. But I remember watching, like I don't know about beach volleyball. I don't know, but I remember watching their games and being so into you know, how the Olympics does the little bios to get you invested, and I yeah, they're just so winning and hard working. And I mean, just to put it in perspective, imagine like what you were four years ago. Imagine you winning the Goldmen over four years ago. I mean, I've done so many bad things
are like slipped up in four years since then. Like to keep winning like that and that spending time is insane. It's crazy. And just to get that famous in a sport that's not that famous at all is pretty cool. Lisa, I gotta tell you, I was googling just to like refresh my memory and see like what I agreed with. And I googled yesterday like greatest sports duos. Venus and Serena were on a list, and so were they, So you are a sportswriter. Um what I did have one
more about how winning they are. But whatever I wish, I I wish I knew about like a coach player thing or a picture catcher like those are so exciting. I just don't have the knowledge. But I love the idea of like um or like a boxer and a coach. I would love to bring that to the table. I think one that we are a coach player obviously is Brady and Belichick, but no, they and that's another well, you know, they like to cheat together, so that's pretty impressive.
I do. It's one of those things to where it's like I do have respect for them to like, you are winning that much? Are you doing it in a way that I like? No, But if you were my coach player duo, I'd like you. So it's truly I'm just jealous of them, um, but I and I don't like them as people, so that's why they're not on my list personally. But I do think that they are one of the greatest duos definitely. I mean Phil Jackson Jordan's and then I think that's the great was about
to say. As a kid, I went to Old Orchard Mall Barnes and Noble and Phil Jackson book signing. It was me and all the neighborhood kids. We all went, There's like, I have to find this one photo, but we're all just beyond you. Had my dream childhood. Yeah, I thought the way I thought of like to be a Russian immigrant. I mean I was a Filipino immigrant in Erie, Pennsylvania, so I mean but literally Chicago. We
went to vacation to Chicago. I remember watching the did the magic and Bulls would go to the championships on the Eastern Carmens Championships twice. I remember watching at home and like jumping up and down with my friend like yeah, I remember just the excitement. I had a really cool shirt of the whole team with like the trophy and all of their faces like cartoons. You know. Um, the gear, Yeah,
a lot of gears, a lot of gear. I'm a big I buy sports vintage sports stuff online and there is so much Bulls just stuff from that era because people were just buying it like crazy. Yeah. The The one real thing that I always will hold on too is I have the I have a baseball signed by the whole oh five World Series winning White Sox team except for Azzie. But I was given to me by my friend Gary. What's up? He really love sports. But that's why I went to see Phil Jackson to sign
the book and stuff. Do you have this Phil Jackson book, The Hoop Dreams? It's yeah, it has to be somewhere. There's no way I would have gotten rid of that. That's but I did get rid of god my jumpsuit. But I just recently gave away a very important jumpsuit to Buffalo Exchange and like a very quick clean out. But maybe someone you really need to ask all I
can imagine. And with beach volleyball, I just wanted to say, you know, it's it's basically it's down to YouTube and it's like communication has to be so good and jumping on sand that's hard. It's so hard. For eight years more, they won three Olympics. I thought it was so that's more than eighty do it? Oh? Wait? Oh? Got it? Got it? Three Olympics eight years Wow? Okay, no, it seems longer for but I mean the equivalent of an NBA or NFL team winning eight years straight, which does
not happen. I also would love to say Simone Biles and the floor exercise of the beam. And before you got here, I was guessing you were going to say Carrie Drug and Bella Caroli, Bella Caroli. No. I like the Dominique Mocci. I love, I love, I mean I love thee down to Georgia and Dominic Muccio. I mean, I hope you didn't molest those girls because I loved
that era duo of all time. Dominic Mucciano's parents. Yeah, yeah, okay, c J. Yeah, there's so many now after Bugs Bunny, I'm like, I'm thinking Ice skated, you know, so fun. My last one is it's not like I don't think it's like a solidified duo. But in eighties seven, Muggsy Bogues was drafted to the Washington Bullets and the other guy, big player on the Washington Bullets at the time was Minute Bowl. And for like a year, I've had this picture and you can google it, a picture of Minute
Bowl and Muggsy Bogues next to each other. Um and just like those two on a team if you were, like if you were just a random casual BASMA fan and going that game, and you can see one of the shortest NBA players ever in one of the tallest, Like that's I don't know what doing tall mugs Bogus five five five or five three maybe, and I'm taller than an NBA and how tall is I believe he was seven seven? Okay, so we're talking two ft difference. Yes, I would like to point out that that is the
background of your phone. I changed it, and the background of my phone is c J and me and his is a little tiny man and a big tall Man. Also this you know you can cut this out, but I love that all these people after you Tonight Show set are sending you photos of their nieces and nephews as that out. That's very nice, you know who. It's been a really like positive side effect. Yeah, and then everyone posting about it who knows me is just like, man,
you got roasted on the Tonight Show. Well I did get to say Mountain Dunkmore my favorite on the Tonight Show, which is an actual shirt that you have. Who is on Mountain Dunkmore. It's Jordan's Barkley Pippen in David Robinson, which is controversial. Was David Robinson on the Spurs the malm No, that's no, no, he was the Admiral. The Admiral my favorite shirt. I mean I always I have one shirt. God, I have one shirt. Yes, she gave
him on the Buffalo Change. It was Rodman and it's a Chairman of the boards on the bottom and it was like black and white and he was had his arms crossed and they had one it had ninety one with a worm crawling through. Um. I had an Aladdin journal um that had like a little key and when I found it, when my parents were moving. There was a page that said I love Jaln Rose, and then I'd flipped the page and written I love Reggie Miller, and I was the only thing in there. What did you?
And we met? You met Jalen Rose at the SPS one year. I said, I said, you're my favorite Patients player of all time. You're opening was like, oh my god, you almost moved next to me. Yeah, he did, like look at the house next to us, and then I remember my he we knew he wasn't going to move in because my dad was like, the house is kind of a lemon, Like listen, if I could get to
his people, I tell him it's a bad investment. If there's If there's one thing you need to know about Megan and the Gailies as a whole is that no matter where they live, there will be a block away. The thing is, there's not a lot of places to live in Indianapolis. So I think anyone who's from Indianapolis has lived by an athlete. Yeah, and you will get cookies. If you're pro athlete, you play Indianapolis, you will get
cookies from Peggy Gailey. And if you make the All Star team, you will get balloons on your mailbox at which must be illegal. No, it definitely could fall into stocking or or kind. But when it's a grandma, as a grandma ever stalked someone, maybe, but like, don't send her to jail. Oh, I have a little, big, little hope we could say, but I don't know, just off camera over well, I mean it's done. I thought of a new one. This is untraditional, but I would say
Sue Bird and Megan Rapino. Yeah, naked on the cover of that Body's issue. Fucking both such winning champions, and um, I just love all of Megan's speeches and how aware she is of everything. And they're just both like hot, cool, dress awesome, love each other and I hope they go to the distance. And I didn't know that when I mean I already I like Sue Bird back in the day, Like I had a crush on Sue Bird, and then I also knew her as just like a really great dresser.
And then I didn't know that she was with Megan, and I was like, wow, now when she's played professionally for so long, did either of you ever think Sue Bird was related to Larry Bird? Okay, I did too, Um. I did listen to a really fascinating podcast yesterday about Sue and Diana Trossi playing in Russia for this spy, UM, a former KGB stop spy who then became this oligarch and UM a lot of that, like great dressing I think was bought by this man. It's really really cool.
They have love for this guy for sure. Um. But it was one of the thirty for thirty podcasts in it and Sue and Diana awesome. I love. We went to the Lakers home opener and the w NBA stars sat courtside and I loved it. Yeah, and I do love that Dwayne Waite and a lot of RANBA players do speak up for the w n B A and like the players, and that really makes me happy as well. I really wanted I would love to go to the game as well. Yeah, we live here, definitely should. I
sat courtside of the Sparks game. What show was this? I don't remember, but I texted you where it's a scripted show, but they who is Reggie's sister? And then yeah, so like they were like, oh basketball, But I don't remember what show? As I remember, I texted you immediately I think one like Reggie is. I think he is as good as he is because of Sheryl. Absolutely, like you hear about they just used to battle growing up taller than him. I think she's older than him, so
she had height on him and girls grow. They talked about Cheryl since she was playing in like I think elementary school, and she might be arguably one of the best female basketball players of all time. Oh absolutely, I think she's won the greatest female athletes of all I think if the w n b A existed around the time that Cheryl was playing her prime, it would be a much bigger sport. Like the fact Cheryl is like also one of the greatest broadcasters, like she's been around
for so long. But like people forget that's why Reggie is so good because he had to beat his siblings, who happened to be the one of the greatest basketball players of all time and a woman. Yeah, and I have a question, did Alan Iverson have a pip in during his why they didn't win? He just had himself, just had himself. But that's what also why he was like so renowned was because he had to play thesee did it alone? Brought the Sixers to the final freshman
year a volley basketball team at Nilsdorth High School. We all wanted to funk Allen Iverson. Alan Iverson was just like on all of our lockers and all of our minds at all time. I love that that was the look you went for because I was just a girl in Indianapolis going for the same look quietly like I like those corn grows so cool. This is podcast. I
