Episode description

We're joined by Rachel Caddiell, who is currently pursuing her PhD at North Carolina State University. Dr. Mikel Delgado interviews Rachel about her current research, all about whether there are any breed differences in sensitivity to pain, as well as the perception and education related to pain reception in veterinary medicine.

Research has shown that both the general public and veterinarians have perceptions of pain sensitivity that are based on breed. Rachel's research is focusing in on determining whether there really are breed differences in pain sensitivity in addition to exploring when and how veterinary students adopt these perceptions of pain sensitivity.
