Episode description

Gary discusses a recent article that makes the claim that the end times are finally upon us because eclipses are writing Hebrew letters in the sky. While most of the prophetic signs that modern writers claims as "proof" of what the Bible says will happen are usually arbitrary, this one stretches credulity beyond the limits of reason and biblical revelation.

And you are podcasting with Gary DeMar. Let's figure things out. Welcome to the Gary DeMar Podcast. I'm Eric, that's Gary. And Gary sitting across the table from me holding up his trusty iPad with an article that he just read the title to me that made me laugh. It's called Three Eclipses will Combine to create a giant olive over America. First of all, Gary tells what an olive is. And Ale-E-P-H is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Okay.

Olive Beth. And then you got Alphabeta, Greek, so they're pretty very close. That's where you get the word Alphabet from. That's right there. And so I saw this, these three eclipses and I saw the map before. And there is a map that shows the path of these three eclipses, let's say they're going to appear. Well, one appeared in August 2017. Another one appeared, we'll appear this year, October 14, 2023. And then there will be a total eclipse on April

8, 2024. So just taking their, I see the picture here, just taking their track, it makes it, it makes like, basically a big a. Looks like an A on its side. But they're not, I was in the impression that they're all going to converge and it was going to be for one. They couldn't converge because they're coming, they come at different times. Yeah. Okay. This is ridiculous. And so somebody, so someone wrote about this, it creates a giant olive. Well, it doesn't. Okay. But even if it did, so what?

Yeah. Well, I know. But the point I made was the Hebrew letter doesn't look anything like an A. It kind of looks like an X, kind of more like an X. But you've seen the energy thing. Yeah. Yeah. But it has the long, the long thing for me. In fact, somebody, when I posted something on Facebook about this, they, they put that up. So this is what this really is.

Right. Right. And, and so I, I pointed out to that first of all, he would have been, he would have made a better case for himself if he had used the Greek alpha. Okay. Because it does look like an A. I mean, the, the Greek alpha bet is very close to our English alpha bet. Now, there's some differences, but you know, the, the alpha beta, or they look like a and B. And, and the S and the T and the U and some letters are different. Like the V

look is actually an, and sound and then the, what looks like a P for us is an R sound. Of course, we understand we've, we've seen the letter pi, which is P. So, but this is just typical of people. Trying to find stuff. Right. That is telling us that this is the, this is going to, we're living near the end. Now, this article says, so what does all of this mean? And this person writes, I'm not entirely sure. But let me share something else with you. But let me speculate. Yeah,

let me speculate here. If you do a Google search for when the, when the new moon in Jerusalem will be in October, 2023, you will discover that it will be on October 14th. And that is the day when the annular, annular solar eclipse will, will cross our country from Oregon to Texas. And I'm thinking seems to me that this should all be taking place in Israel. Why, why the United States? Why is the United States so much a focus of Bible prophecy today when the Bible and I don't care if you're

the people that write this stuff. Yeah, no, yeah. Because, you know, those people, preterists and futurists both recognize that Israel is a center of biblical history, prophetic history. So it seems to me all this should be taking place in Israel, not in the United States. It didn't even exist at that particular period of time. And this goes on, if you do a Google search for when the new moon in Jerusalem will be in April, 2024, you will discover that it

will be on April 8th. And that is the day when the great American eclipse crosses America and completes the alif, alif, or alif. And by the way, April 8th also happens to be the first day of the first month on the Hebrew calendar. In other words, a brand new biblical year begins on that date. Okay. And this person goes on, I find it hard to believe that this is just the coincidence. I think that God is trying to tell us something. Of course, he has been trying to warn us in hundreds

of different ways, but most people don't want to listen. Now, I agree with that. Yeah. The God's been trying to tell us, but let me tell you something through the pages of his work. Right. It's all in there. But another thing is no one would know anything about this. They wouldn't see this as a sign. First of all, you would have to be in space somewhere to see this, these eclipses take place. And you would have to see them all taking place at the same time in order

to see the A over the United States. And so I'm thinking what the only reason you're considering this as a sign is because someone's telling you we think it's a sign. And it was like no one would know that any of this is happening at these different times for these different reasons in these particular dates. Right. So I'm not really sure just exactly how this is a pertinent sign to anyone today. He takes a conclusion to the data and then finds what he wants to find. Yes. Yeah.

What yeah. And you can you can I always thought one of these days, I'm going to write my own prophecy book. And I'm going to take their position and make a case for their position the way they do. And then on the last chapter, I'm going to write, you're just kidding. I mean, my position here because I could I could do that. There are just there are all kinds of ways to do that if you take if you take things out of out of context. Now so that so up here, remember

he said what he said. So what does all this mean? I'm not entirely sure. He wrote. Then the last paragraph it says the signs of the end times are literally being fulfilled all around us. But most of us refuse to see the truth. I will continue to do my best to sound the alarm and I want to thank you for helping me to do that. And so I'm thinking when you read a new testament about all this, all the signs were there. Yeah. They were there. It's very specifically to the

to the generation to that particular generation. Wars and rumors of wars, famines in various places Acts chapter 11 false false prophets, first John chapter four, anti Christs. You know, it's the last hour because of their many anti Christ. I mean, they're all over the pages of scripture.

When I was down in Mexico, speaking on this topic, I took them through all of these, you know, the time texts, coming passages, the near shortly, quickly at hand, about to, I went through all of these, this generation, but with all these little details before I actually got into the specifics of dealing

contextually with Matthew chapter 24. And I could see the expressions on their face. Of course, I don't speak very much Spanish at all, but I can, I could tell they would read that and kind of look up and go, they had never really thought about that before because everybody reads the Bible, like it's written to them. They never, never think about reading it in the eyes of the first audience.

This, this letter from Paul, this letter from Peter, these two letters from Peter, or, you know, whatever, James, these were written to a particular group of people in a historical timeframe. Right. So that's how we need to read it. That's how we need to read it and interpret it. Not, not, not based on A's in the sky. I mean, I mean, yeah, yeah, it's, look, if somebody's going to appeal to the Bible on this and telling you that you're living in the last days, based upon something

like this, run away as fast as you can. This guy does not know what he's talking about. And then when you go back and you show them, and even admits that, right? Let me tell you what I think. Yeah. And it's, it's, it's shocking. It's shocking. And it's, when you go and you find the comments on people on pages like this, yes, Jesus coming soon, I can't wait that it, all the signs are around me and so forth and so on. And we're in, you know, deep, deep, deep, deep trouble here

because people are preoccupied with the end and don't see any ability to change anything. Why bother, why bother when the giant A is going to show up in the sky with a coming election of what's going on and making decisions regarding what's taking place in our country and around the world? Because it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's the apocalypse and A, it's the apocalypse and why bother

with all this sort of thing? Yeah, I'll be impressed when the eclipse is make a B where they have, where they have round here where they have elliptical where they make like a perfect B in the sky. Then, then, then maybe come back to me. Yeah, give me, give me something, give me something I can really sink my teeth into, something like that. Or a cue. Something that is like, okay, three straight lines going across the sky. Okay, not all that impressive, but, but yeah,

show me a B or a C, then, then we could talk. Well, you know, and it's, it's just remarkable that people fall for this kind of stuff. Remember, not wasn't too many years ago, it was all the blood moons. Yeah. And the dates for the blood moons and so forth. And it's like, oh, we've never seen these before. And in the history of the world, there's never been something called a blood moon. And in reality, there is enough, the, the moon didn't change color at all. Right. So it's really not

a blood moon. It's a moon that looks red. That's only because of atmospheric conditions. Now, when the book of Joel talks about the moon turning to blood and Peter quotes that in Acts chapter two, he's a, he was applying it to that generation. Right. This is being fulfilled in your hearing. Right. Yeah. And you say, oh, no, no, well, that didn't really happen. Well, yes, it did. And the,

the moon turning to blood. This is, this is Jim Jordan's explanation of this. The moon turning to blood and understanding that sun, moon, and stars in scripture referred to national entities. And in particular, in this, in this particular case, in Matthew chapter 24, Jesus is taking the material found in the books of Isaiah and Ezekiel and applying the stellar phenomena, phenomena that's their sun, moon, and stars that was applied to Babylon and, and other nations, eat them, I believe.

You see, saying, this is going to apply to Israel. So this moon turning into blood, I mean, people want to say, oh, I'm going to take the Bible literally. It literally took place in AD seven in with the amount of blood that was shed as the result of the Romans coming in and destroying the, the city and, and the temple. Yeah. And the moon, as, as we all know, doesn't, it's not a star.

It, it reflects the light of the sun. So the moon has no light of its own, as they say. So the moon turning to blood, it's, it's, it's showing that those who are supposed to be a reflection of, of the, of the sun of, of God himself, the, the, the religious leaders, they're the ones who are, who are turning the moon to blood. You know, they're the ones who are being disobedient and they're, and they're basically lashing out against the, the reflected light that they're supposed to have.

Yeah. And, you know, the, the temple was finally, we finally rebuilt and dedicated in around AD 64. And this, the priesthood is in there and so forth. Essentially, the, the priesthood, you know, taking their place in the temple was in a front to the very gospel that they were told about.

I mean, you read through the, read through the book of Acts. And I've, I've, I've, I've, I have a book that I've been, I've been working on going through the book of Acts in relation to Zachariah chapter 13 to show that Zachariah 13 in many cases is in fact the book of Acts. And that you find in the book of Acts, oh, the, well, the Romans and a couple of places, use their authority and their power to, to stop Paul, the Acts chapter 16 and later when they

about to string them up. They only, they only did that. Not because of any religious animosity towards them because the, the Jewish leaders had come and say these guys are disturbing the peace. And they're saying there's another king Caesar, another, another king, and it's not Caesar. And so in throughout the book of Acts, it's actually the, the, the unbelieving Jews are the ones who are attacking the church, beginning with, you know, very early on with the,

with the Sanhedrin. And then you've got a, a, Paul and with Acts chapter 7 killing, killing Stephen and Acts chapter 8 doing the same thing. And then you have Herod, Herod, who's really a kind of the, he has, he has a religious and a political foot in the, both the political and the religious camp, you know, kills, kills James, the, the brother of John and saw that, oh, well, this pleased the Jews. I think I'm going to do some more persecution here. So you, you, you find

that Israel is the problem in the book of Acts, not Romans. It's only later on, after, after the book of Acts, Acts chapter 28, Paul is in kind of under house arrest. And so forth. But, you know, throughout the New Testament era, that, the apostolic age there, Rome is really not a, not the bad person that one would think it, you know, would, would think it is. Yeah, read the book of Galatians,

where Paul gets, gets very clear about the Judaism and, and, and, oh, yeah. The problem is that they're, that they're called, well, even, even confronted Peter on this, man, you're, you're hypocrite here. You ought to know better, even after in, in the book of, in the book of Acts, Acts chapter 10, you know, the sheet that comes down out of heaven. Hey, these unclean animals, take killing eaten, Peter says, I've never eaten any clean thing. Don't call on cleaners, talking

about the nations. Right. And the Jerusalem council later on said, yes, the Gentiles, the nations are, are part of this. They're grafted into what was then almost an exclusively a Jewish Ecclesia. And in typical fashion for Peter, that had to happen three times. It should have had to come down. He had to be, oh, that's interesting. No, I get it. Yeah, that makes,

so anyway, so more prophetic hysteria out there. I don't know how far this is going to go, but there were quite a few comments when I just made, made mention of, of this on, on, on Facebook. But there'll, there'll be more of this as well as we, as we go down. People are already predicting, I think there's some new thing, um, the end of this, end of this year, someone's predicting the end. And by the way, in terms of a prophecy conference, there's going to be a prophecy conference here in

Atlanta. I think on the 18th and 19th of August, I'm going to be speaking at, to be very close, very close by off of, uh, there's a hotel off of Mary at a square, but I'll give you more details about that. It's still what I'm going to be speaking on. That's the first time we're hearing about it, too. Yeah. I've been invited to do this. And supposedly, there are getting people from over the country, but we'll, we'll wait and see promises, promises. He said, when August 18th, I think it's

August 18th and 19th. Well, we'll, we'll make an announcement on American vision. I'll give you the times and so forth where I'll be, I'll be speaking. Right. Yeah. So pencil that into your calendars now and plan to be in the, uh, you, you yourself, the Mary at a square. Mary at a square. Which is a beautiful area. Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's, yeah. Common restaurants are great. Uh, the hotel is, is, is great. It's within walking distance of the Mary, Mary at a square. A lot of

restaurants there. They've got, they literally have a square there, like in the olden days. Great. Um, um, an old timey theater, the strand theater. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's, um, it's, it's a very nice area, but we've, we've lived here for, I don't know, 40, 40 some years. Okay. Uh, so, anyway, well, we'll let you know when that, when that takes place. Sounds good. So that's today's

episode of the Gary DeMar podcast. We thank you for listening. If you have a question for, uh, for Gary for a future show, email podcast at Americanvision.org podcast at Americanvision.org. Uh, once again, we thank you for listening and we'll catch you next time.
