Episode description

In today's episode, we jump super quickly into obedience. It's been a major theme in my life recently and I felt I needed to share it here.

We could literally talk for hours about the importance of it but since you and I don't have hours and hours to do that... here's a quick-start episode to get you thinking about your own obedience to the Lord.

Verses mentioned:

Luke 6:32-33, "if you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!"

2 Corinthians 5:10, "For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body."

Revelation 22:12, "Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds."

Characteristics of a Christian (the Beautitudes) from Matthew 5:

  • poor in spirit: recognizing our desperate need for God
  • we are to mourn or grieve over our sin
  • to be meek: a form of submission and humility
  • hunger and thirst for righteousness: our right relationship with God
  • merciful: not giving people what they do deserve
  • pure in heart: this is about a heart change, when we become believers we are given a new heart.
  • peacemakers: someone who desires for everyone to make peace with God
  • persecuted: as Christians, we will be persecuted for our faith just as Jesus was persecuted when he was on earth. but through this, we are blessed.
