TFR Ep. 476: Jojo Rabbit, Doctor Sleep, Creepshow Ep. 5, 5 Best Movie Nightmares

This week on The First Run, Chris and Matt hold a double feature! First up, writer/director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarök, What We Do In The Shadows, The Hunt For The Wilderpeople) brings us the coming of age/Nazi/authoritarian government satire we didn’t know we wanted with ‘Jojo Rabbit’. Then it’s been 40 years, but Danny Torrance is back in Mike Flanagan’s (Oculus, Haunting Of Hill House) sequel to the classic ‘The Shining’, with ‘Doctor Sleep’. Ewan McGregor plays Danny as he struggles to find meaning, and perhaps does when a young woman shines more powerful than he ever did. This shine catches the attention of Rose the Hat, our antagonist played by Rebecca Ferguson, who leads a crew of psychic vampires desperately looking for their next meal. Can they be stopped and can Danny finally find his path? There’s the always mildly entertaining review of the big releases on Blu-Ray & DVD, featuring the Straight to DVD and Streaming Picks of the Week.
