Episode description

On today’s show, Giles Alderson and co-host Lucinda Rhodes Thakrar sit down with Alex Noyer, the writer and director of Sound of Violence, which premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2021. Alex dives deep into Clubhouse of Horror, what the room is about, what it’s like to be a judge on the latest competition, and not just what you need to do to get your horror short script financed, but also how to make an ace short. Coming from documentaries, he discusses how he made his first narrative short Conducter (2018), the importance of a one-line pitch, and how he turned his short into a feature. Giles, Lucinda and Alex also talk about the importance of mental health on set, how to deal with overtime, why nerves are good, directing techniques, distribution, and why you need a good lawyer. It was an absolute pleasure to chat with Alex. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s episode with Alex Noyer.   SOUND OF VIOLENCE is out NOW! Alexis recovered her hearing during the brutal murder of her family when she was ten. The visceral experience awakened synesthetic abilities in her and started her on an orphaned path of self-discovery through the healing music of brutal violence.   EPISODE LINKS Watch SOUND OF VIOLENCE now | TRAILER Follow Alex on Twitter OUR SPONSORS MASV: https://massive.io/filmmakerspod/   PATREON Big thank you to: Marli J Monroe Kevin Pybus Want your name in the show notes?
