She recounted a distressing incident from December 2011, when Cassie informed her via email that Combs had threatened to release explicit videos of her and to harm both her and her then-partner, rapper Kid Cudi. In response to these threats, Regina and her husband took out a home equity loan to pay Combs $20,000, as he claimed he wanted to recoup money he had spent on Cassie. Although the money was returned a few days later, Regina testified that the ordeal left her physically ill and deeply concerned for her daughter's safety.
