where you place your attention is where you place your energy you know in another video i was talking about potential and how potential is hidden and used energy where does that energy go if it's used are you going to use it to control your attention to create and produce or are you just going to waste that energy again
Where you place your attention is where you place your energy. So we're going to talk about how to clear your mind and only focus on what's important and how to also... clear your focus because without focus you're not going to clear your mind controlling your attention the most important skill of the 21st century and how to do it you see in this information rich
time poor society attention has become our most important resource and if you really think about it social media internet advertisers they're all trying to hook your attention the longer they can hold your attention the longer they can hook your attention the more money they make because the more chances that you're going to click on that ad or buy that product everything is about attention bruce lee he said the successful warrior is the average man with laser-like focus
i tend to think he is right and maybe now more than ever especially as our attention span all around the world shrinks in a world where distractions abound both big and small The greatest skill we can personally hone, the greatest skill we can personally improve or perfect is the control of our attention. In fact, the ability to keep focus.
in the middle of ever increasing distractions may just be the greatest determining factor of success in the 21st century. Right now in this video, this is when you're about to click and stop watching. and you're getting all these notifications on your phone up here you can't focus right i'm not getting that because i put my phone and my laptop on do not disturb because this is where my attention is right now
Our attention is the driving force that shapes our lives. It is what creates wisdom from our past experiences and helps us to make the most out of the skills we've developed. the education we've experienced, and the talents we've accumulated, the talents and the skills that we have earned. In another video, I was talking about the benefits of being present.
Of course, being present is you cannot be present if you are distracted or if you're not paying attention to the present moment, of course. But I was talking about how if you are present. If you live in the present moment, you can improve your memory. Because when you think about the past, the reason you don't remember so many things is because at the time, you were not paying attention. At the time, you were not present.
you're having a conversation with somebody you are not present you are distracted by something else or someone else it is our attention that puts these assets to work allowing us to make the most out of our potential where you place your attention is where you place your energy now we're going to talk about how to direct your attention to take action to produce the first thing that this article talks about is to remove the clutter in your environment basically declutter clean the mess
in your environment. Only with focused attention do we make the most out of these strengths. So if you're not focused, there's no way that you can.
achieve anything there's no way that you can accomplish or complete any task ultimately it's where we direct our attention that shapes the direction of our path and how effectively we reach our goals and what we accomplish with the one life that we have to live simplify your environment remove the clutter clean your environment physically and digitally so like what's around you clean your desk clean your kitchen clean your bedroom as humans we are visual
What's around us affect our energy. They affect our mood. The stuff around you affects your energy. If there's too much clutter. too much stuff your attention is going to too many places all at once at the same time and if so how can you focus on one thing that is so important to take care of
Like, how can I make this video and how can I finish this video if I have notifications coming from here? If I have a mess here, if I have a mess here, I will be continuously distracted. And that's what most of us are. feeling you know we're so distracted and what happens i mean think about it your energy is like you know it flows and it's drained regardless of how it's used
You either use it or lose it because it's limited. You don't have unlimited energy. You have 24 hours a day with a limited amount of energy. and of course the more you use your energy the more you can increase your energy you know you could be just sitting at home and feel like you have no energy but the more you start the more you increase it just like your muscle you know first you're weak So you have to use more energy to lift something.
The more you exercise, the more you work out. Now it takes less energy to lift this thing because now you're stronger. Now let's talk about your digital space, meaning your smartphone, your computer, the websites you... use the apps that you have on your phone the websites that you visit the pages you follow right all of these affect your mood and they either uplift you
They either motivate you towards the direction of your purpose, of your goal. Of course, either they push you to take action or they drain your energy and make you feel like a lazy butt butt. They make you feel like... your life is worthless. Anything in your digital space that doesn't bring you value, declutter, remove. Celebrities, zero value. The news, that does not bring you value.
it also does not bring you truth. If you're looking for truth, that's a fake world. And if you put your attention on those things or those people, then you are placing your energy on a fake world. Right? Where you place your attention is where you place your energy. Do you want to place your energy on a fake world? I don't want to. That's why I don't know anything about what is going on in Hollywood or what is going on, I don't know, in the news media.
another trick turn off notifications this is one of the most powerful tricks go to your phone and in your setting go down and look through the apps Turn off the attention on the attention. The notification for all the apps that are not important, like Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, TikTok. Yes, you know, I make content online, but you don't really need a notification to come back to me because maybe you remember.
okay you come back and see what I have posted right anyway so let's go back to here simplify your environment because simplicity is the stepping stone to clarity a cluttered environment whether physical or digital results in a cluttered mind so by minimizing by reducing
the unnecessary not important not important things we remove visual noise and make room for focused attention because like i said we are visual humans are visual the things that we see affect our mood and of course ultimately it affects the way we act this doesn't just mean owning fewer possessions but also decluttering like i said you know our online spaces now maybe you're just if you're the kind of person that is just getting into cleaning
your environment cleansing your life in general your mind maybe you're confused you're like where to start the first thing is like if you're if you're just rushing all the time you can't just put a Full stop or hit the brake and just stop. First, slow down. Because if you don't slow down, you can't see clearly. Like imagine driving 120 miles per hour on the highway.
You can't see any of the signs. You can't see anything, right? Because everything's just going so fast. But if you slow down, then you start seeing things more clearly. So slow down, and then you can sit down, right? Sit down and notice what's around you. Notice how you're feeling. Try to get in touch, get in contact with your attention, your feeling, your emotions, right? The energy.
because where you place your attention is where you place your energy and your energy obviously will help you to direct redirect your your life so another really good Practice is meditate. Practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is the art of being fully present. It's a skill that trains your brain to focus on the here and now.
preventing it from being hijacked by past regrets or future anxieties one of the best books about mindfulness to be present really this the power of now by This is when I started really getting into the idea of mindfulness and understanding that now, right now is all you have, not the future. not the past the past is only in your memory and so how you benefit from your memory how you benefit from your past experiences to influence your present your present moment is
how you can use the past really. And the future is only in your imagination. And again, how you use your imagination to create in the present moment will shape your future, but the future is only in the mind. I really love this book.
and i highly recommend it depending on your english level this is like higher level advanced or master english level so practice and focus on only the now this will prevent you from being hijacked by past regrets oh you know my life is like this and you just like feel stuck in the past because of some bad things that happened in your past or because of the past experiences. Now you're scared of the future. You have future anxieties, right? But if you bring your attention...
back to the present moment and only focus on the now, what happens? You're going to only care about what's in front of you and you're going to start taking action towards what's truly important simple mindfulness exercises can be a great starting point so can religious rituals like prayer meditation and spiritual reading you know
Unfortunately, I talk about this a lot, but these days people don't like to talk about religion because they think it's old fashioned. But I'm Muslim, right? And religion is my compass. It helps me go back to the source five times a day. I go and put my head down to the creator. So however you want to navigate through life, you don't have to be religious or you don't have to follow religion. The way I talk about religion is you can be a good person. without following a religion.
we will be judged based on our actions and our behavior in this life because we're just travelers we're just going through this life and get out on the other end and then that's real life this life is just a game we're here i was reading this book We're here just like a traveler visiting a foreign country for the sake of merchandise. We're just here on a business trip.
and our action the way we behave that's that's a whole different topic but i don't want to get into it but practicing meditation religious practices praying this will bring you back Working on your breath, right? This will help you come back to the present moment and only focus on what's truly important and helps with anxiety. If you can control your breath.
You can control everything in your life. You can control your emotions. You can control your mood. And you can control your attention. Now, notice when... distractions are getting your attention this is something really important a lot of times you don't know that you are getting distracted because you're just acting out of habit right you get a notification you check your phone like you get a phone call
you answer notice when distractions are getting your attention like you get a notification you get a message from your friend before you reach for your phone to answer or to try to check what this notification is just for a millisecond just think is this really important or should i continue working on my project or should i continue studying right because awareness is key
in controlling your attention. If you're not aware, like if I have all these chips and stuff, and I'm just like eating, but I'm not aware of my action, I will just be acting like a robot, you have to work hard to notice when your attention goes away and bring yourself back to the present moment because it's normal and we're we're human we're humans and we're weak you can't focus all 100 all the time but if you can focus if you if you work
two hours out of the day, fully focused and present on projects, studying. If you like, I always tell my students, if you can focus 30 minutes, 45 minutes, every single day on a lesson. to practice your english you're going to master the english language because now your your full focus is here it's impossible to have your attention in the now 100 of the time no that's impossible so you can't do that but
You have to notice when your attention drifts away and bring yourself back to the present. And especially when temptation, you know, doing something, watching a bad video or I don't want to mention. what kind of video, but you know what I'm talking about, right? That's not good for you, right? Notice when you should bring your attention back. I like this a lot here, how to identify small
big and small distractions, because distractions, both big and small, can impact our focus. Small distractions are often immediate, like a phone notification, a game, TikTok videos, right? a text message on whatsapp or messenger these can interrupt us briefly but frequently so like you're constantly being distracted and that's so dangerous on the other hand there are distractions that are bigger that can also
Keep us from meaning. Things like an excessive pursuit of wealth. So you're always like thinking, how can I make more money? How can I make more money? I don't have enough money. So you're always basically living in lack. And because your attention is on lack, you're actually attracting more lack, meaning you think you need more or you don't have enough.
pursuit of so much wealth, constant worry about others' opinions, gossiping, right? You're just gossiping, talking about other people, idle talking, right? These distractions are often more subtle. You can't notice it. It's very subtle. You think it's not distraction, but they really are. More subtle than a buzzing phone, but they can direct or divert.
our attention over a long period you know that's why it's really important to have self-awareness to notice your what is distracting you and bring yourself back to the present moment prioritizing time it's important that we start each day by setting our attention and remembering our priorities our priorities priorities by organizing our time according to what we value most and our goals
We can better direct our attention. What activities today truly deserve your focus? Think about that. What aligns with your purpose? Asking these questions can guide us to invest our attention wisely because you are very valuable. Your time is valuable, but it's about how you use it because... Whether you use it for creating value or just wasting it, it's going to pass anyway. And of course, to prioritize, time can only happen if you have...
if you set clear goals. Clear goals channel our attention. That's why I always say, and this is something I'm practicing myself, if you don't write it down, it doesn't exist. So set clear goals because they can act as a compass to guide your attention and focus towards what's truly important. And of course, we all get to decide for ourselves.
But the important step is what you can't just sit and think you have to stand and do go out there and do things just because that some something is keeping you busy. It doesn't really mean it's. valuable that's why you have to like slow down sit down and just think about what your priorities are what's truly important because things that keep you busy don't really mean that they are valuable and important. And that's why we have to declutter. This will help you simplify your focus.
sharpen your focus and focus only on what's really important. So I hope that you found this video useful. And if you did, please let me know in the comments and thanks for watching.
