The sport of cheerleading has seen its fair share of scandals and lawsuits. Regarding the Navarro program, which was the subject of the Netflix series Cheer, there have been several very high-profile scandals.
In April, a former Navarro cheerleader sued the college, Coach Monica, and others over an alleged sexual assault by a fellow cheerleader, accusing the school and coaching staff of failing to protect members of the team from sexual assault and harassment.
The case against Coach Monica has been dismissed, and she has been cleared by USA Cheer over six months after the lawsuit was filed.
