Episode description

In this episode, our podcast host and the EMCC UK Director for Coaching Practice, Hannah Butler, talks to Dr Louise Gilbert about emotion coaching.

Louise Gilbert is co-author of Emotion Coaching with Children and Young People in Schools: Promoting Positive Behaviour, Wellbeing and Resilience. She is an established leader and expert in the field and co-founder of Emotion Coaching UK, a not-for-profit organisation. Louise has a background in health and education, and a doctorate in emotion coaching.

During this episode, Louise and Hannah discuss the observed developmental advantage experienced by the children of families whose natural parenting style John Gottman labelled as ‘emotion coaching’. They also look at how this has been adapted to form training programmes for school and community practitioners, parents and foster carers.
