TW: This conversation discusses sexual assault, murder and gendered violence towards womxn. In this episode we discuss the tragic murder of Sarah Everard, who was abducted and killed on her walk home. Sarah’s murder has sparked a national outcry and opened up the much needed conversation about sexual harassment and violence against womxn and girls. The lead suspect for Sarah’s murder is a serving Metropolitan Police officer and we talk about the abuse of power and the relationship between power and sexual abuse as well as the Mets history of violence towards Black women specifically. We discuss the way race and Blackness have impacted our experience of sexual harassment and the fact Black womxn experience oppression on multiple fronts.
