Get baby. The Birds moved to four and OZ for the first time since OZ four. They got it done on the ground today. Three rushing touchdowns in the first half. This is Miles Center's first of the day. And then Kenny Gainwell he takes it for a ten yard touchdown run. But how about that defense? Four tone rivers for the jag arles Trevor Lawrence looking for Christian Kirk. He finds James Bradberry for his second interception of the season. Welcome
to the postgame show presented by Rico. I'm Gabriella d givanni, joined by fran Duffy and I Grease. Twenty nine to twenty one victory at the link. It was a muck fast. They had to just get out of there get the win, and that's what they did. Like, yeah, objected day, make sure you come out of here with a W. Eagles get to four. Note, I'm sorry I didn't get any the loud victory call, only because it was a raining day out there and I just don't have that emotions
right now. But it was a big win for the Eagles. Defense did an outstanding job taking the ball away. Five turnovers. I don't know counting the sacks they got against Trevor Lawrence today and the ground game Miles Sanders running the football today would authority what did you get? Twenty seven twenty eight carries a day. Great job for Miles Sanders running the football. It was really one of those things where it was strength versus strength. Going into this matchup.
You had the number one defense in terms of creating turnovers with Jacksonville going up against the Eagles offense that protected the ball at a high, high rate. And then you look at the run defense for Jacksonville going up against this Eagles run game. Eagles run for about two hundred yards. They're able to create all those turnovers, so they win the turnover margin. They outrun them in the rain.
Just an outstanding performance. And really, guys, this is the first time where we saw this Eagles team punching the mouth early on right down fourteen. Nothing very easily could have been twenty one zero in the first quarter. But this is a full team effort in the comeback. Outstanding win for this football team against a good Jacksonville Jaguar squad. Jacksonville was allowing just fifty five yards per game on the ground at the half the Eagles already put up
one twelve. Of course, like you said, Miles Sander's career high day over one hundred and thirty yards. They couldn't get it done in the air today, which was a little bit to be expected due to the weather. But to be able to do it on the ground the way that they did, I it was something special, very impressive. You want to give all the credit to the offensive line and the big guys upfront opening up the holes, but I also want to give credit to Shane Steke
and Jeff stallin this running game today. The play design was so beneficial to the Eagles. You know, when you got Jalen Hurts, who's also a threat to run, it puts that defense and sort of a pickle. And so while they're worried about Jalen getting to the outside, he's given the ball to Miles in the inside. And I love the way Miles ran behind his shoulder pass today.
We know that he can run with speed and has the ability to break out and give you explosive play, but he had to get some tough yards to day, and he got behind his shoulder pants, lowered his head and got tough yards. And I thought they wore down this Jacksonville defense. Two hundred and ten yards rushing for this team on the day. And when you look at what they've given up La, what did you say, it was fifty two yards per game? Oh, through the first
three weeks. So the Eagles doing work here against this Jaguars defense. And it happened a number of different ways. We saw downhill runs, we saw perimeter runs certainly, we saw Jalen hurtsby a factor as well, Kenny Gainwell reaching the end zone. Tray Sermon making his debut. So all hands on deck for this run game. But the Eagles may do against a really really stop defensive front. We're not going to get head over to Lincoln Financial Field
where Eagles Insider Days. Vadero joins US Live from o rainy South Philadelphia. Dave big comeback win for the Eagles, Say, what was the keys to really put it away for the Verse? Yeah, it was great. I mean, as Franz said, first time the Eagles had faced adversity offseason, and not only down fourteen points down Darius slagh down, Jordan Milana and the Eagles. He's had nothing going on until that stop, that stop early in the second quarter. The fourth down
stop changed everything. Twenty three straight points after the Keys obviously putting pressure on Trevor Lawrence winning the turnover battle against the Jacksonville team that came into this game first in the NFL in turnover ratio a plus seven. So the Eagles win that one convincingly, obviously running the football and using all three backs so well, Trey Sermon, a
couple of big carries, Kenny Gainwell some nice runs. The red zone performance was really impressive and just a tough, kind of ugly but expected performance by the Philadelphia Eagles in many ways. I'll tell you, guys, you tell me the most impressive of the four wins, maybe today, given everything that the Eagles had to overcome. You're right, it was the first time that they weren't just purely dominant
from the gates. But you talk about that run game, what made it so success and say especially considering the injuries across the offensive line as the game went on. Yeah, I mean, Jack Driscoll did a really terrific job after an initial jolt, you know, to kind of to get his feat set in there and get his get his mind ready for the power of the Jacksonville edge. Game, and I thought the Eagles inside, I thought Kelsey really controlled things inside. We talked about it before the game,
lining somebody up over Kelsey. The Jags didn't really do that as much as I thought they would. I can. I were kind of sitting up there in the press box going, they're doing it early in the game, and they're controlling the run. But awesome job by the Eagles interior and the running game patient and Miles Sanders. We've seen it now for a fourth straight game. Patience, patients, patients at speed to and through the whole. Not a lot of dancing. Dave, what do we learn about the
Eagles today and week four? You know, Ella, the Eagles can win in a lot of different ways, and his offense can beat you in a lot of different ways. We've seen the explosiveness of a J. Brown and DeVante Smith and Jalen Hurts averaging nine point three yards per pass attempt coming into the game. The Eagles used a short game today's screen game to Dallas got it, really got him going. I just thought, from a character standpoint,
overcoming adversity standpoint, so impressive. Taking that punch in the jaw from the Jaguars A fourteen to nothing. Defensity of the Eagles said, Okay, let's get ready to go here in the second quarter. And I think one thing we also learned is the Eagles owned the second quarter in the first four games of this NFL season. All right, Dave, well, I'll let you go warm up. I know it's been a long day outside in the rain. Thanks for your time. Over four hundred yards of offense, four hundred and one
yards today. They've been able to do that consistently through the first four weeks. What does that say about what this offense is really established? And they've put the league on watch. Yeah, in the league that's built around throwing the football, and sometimes you can get a finesse football team win. That's what you want to focus on. This team has sort of gone in the opposite direction. Started last year their identity running the football. This year they've
continued to add on to that. They just made the passing game part of it as well. But they don't lose whether they buttered or bread at and that's running the football. And today was the type of weather game they played right into their hands. Allowed them to get back to doing what they love doing. And I love the fact that mouse ran the ball hard today. The difference in the two teams to day. The ball was
rarely on the ground for the Eagles, yep. The ball security eaguals job security and Jacksonville laid the ball on the ground countless times today, especially the quarterback. Yeah. The only turnover for the Eagles, right was that that tip pass on the opening drive. They went for the pick six. So I think when you look at the Eagles in this game, I think Dave said it perfectly, this is a team that showed the ability to win in multiple ways. You come out and you have that adversity early in
this game, and not just on the scoreboard. It's fourteen nothing, you have the pick six in the opening drive. Jacksonville comes down, they get some points. You have injuries and Darius Slay, Jordan Malata, the injuries start to mount up. Devonte Smith leaves the game briefly. I think when you look around the way that this Eagle, the Eagles team rebounded.
You have the weather, it's Doug Peterson's return very easily could have just gotten ugly, right, and instead this team full team defense, gets a turnover, offense follows through come back. You tie the game on the heels of your run game. Just an outstanding job here from this Eagles team answering the bell when they were faced with adversity early in this one. Well, if you're tuning in, please relieve in the Facebook comments. Ask Ike will be taking questions for
I Greas answers throughout the show. In the Facebook comments. Drop your questions and we will add them right here on this show. I want to expand a little bit on what I talked about with Dave about what did we learn from this Eagles team today. I think one of those things being that they can capitalize on the mistakes of their opponents. Four turnovers resulted in over twenty points. We weren't seeing that last year. If the Eagles had a chance to get the ball back, they weren't capitalizing
on those opportunities. And they sure we're doing it today. Yeah, And I think once you're playing in a game like this, the mentality of going in from a defensive standpoint is get the ball out, get the ball out, punch it out as much as you can. And they were able to do that, and like you said, Ella, the offense coming in and take an advantage of that. That fourth down stop in the second quarter when Jacksonville could have very easily been driving. To go up twenty one to
nothing was huge. And I know Trevor Lawrence dropped the ball there, but he dropped it because he had pressure on him and he had to escape the pocket. So I love when you're in a game like this as a defense, you're saying, we're gonna get opportunities to take that ball away. And the Eagles players, you can see them every time they got around whoever was carrying the ball. They were looking to punch it out today. And that's
the thing too, you know. Hassan Reddick. He finishes this game four solo tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries. Now the look when you talk about defensive football and you're not gonna blitz and you want to just say, hey, we're gonna rally to the football, Hassan Reddick is the kind of player you're talking about because you want to a capitalize on mistakes. If the opponent's gonna leave that ball out there, Hassan Reddick, this is
going back to Carolina, Arizona, go back to Temple. He is excellent at getting the football on the ground when he gets home to the quarterback. And then also that fumble recovery that Ike mentioned earlier, that's a hustle play from Hassan Reddick. He is making that play in person suit. If he's not chasing that football, that turnover does not happen by accident. Trevor Lawrence moved off his spot, he
drops the football. If Reddick is loafing a pursuit, the Eagles don't get that ball and Jacksonville probably scores points there. Outstanding job from the Eagles defense. We have Miles Sanders at the podium. Still just make this nice shot, y'all. Hear that party in there, Miles rough Weather's day. Anything got let to you guys running the ball more than you have this year and kind of getting back to the style of last year's play. Offensive play. Oh yeah,
I mean, whatever the weather conditions is. Um, we were practicing this type of stuff and we we we do everything we can to be prepared for this type of stuff. So obviously we're still gonna pass the ball like we did today. But you know, the officsive line that we got, we're gonna lean on them, and you know, and over two hundred yards rushing. That's that's that's the day that don't want giving up fifty five yards rushing. Uh per
game coming in. Um. Something about the defense that you guys did at manage think that I bought of the team to come between the factors. Um, they got a great team over there, good good front. But honestly, I take our old line against anybody. Um. And that's just just as simple as that career career high for you Miles and and carriage as well. How much does it help you to touch the ball that much? It's sitting a little bit easier to get into the game and
start to go. Yeah. Absolutely definitely getting the group. But you know, UM, my job is to just be ready whenever they call my number like that. Whenever they call my number like that, I'm gonna be ready regardless. So but um, with the rather being the way it was, we just leaned on the office a line of office aligne. How the heck of a game? I feel we had the nine yard in your first since carriers was just something that they were doing to continue guys early on it.
What did you change just just trying to attack the defense instead of you know, running our outside zone at the beginning just trying to be more downhill first and then mixing it, mixing it up mid zone and inside zone stuff. So it was it save about the way you guys were you to call, like over calling, like the injuries they offensive Finn like Jordan and Isaac and still I have a cond russion you guys. Yeah, we
have a mentality. It's just next man up mentality. So and we got one of the best, I not one of the best, part of the best office on line coaching in the league. So coaching these guys and whoever is next man up is it is gonna produce an
in there, so it nont matter who's in there. When you got one today, give you confidence in terms of you know, one on the ground and one through the air, defense coming through in the end say that woman, Okay, Harry, you guys have won this season in the different ways, like to say, the defensive running game engineer, one through the air. So they give you confidence that you know you you guys are the Mainkings are a great team because of how you even want the differently so far
this ACA, Yeah, that definitely gives everybody confidence. You know, it's a team sport and we look at we we know we can't win without all aspects of the game went being won. You know, special teams played the heck of a game. Jake Elliott took one for the team and still went back out there and still kick the
field goal to get us in the league. So and then our defense playing the way they did after those two scores, they got quick one was by us, and then pretty much shut them out the whole game, creating five tone overs. And then you know what, the weather being the way it is, we still passed the ball effectively a little bit, but in offensive line we had two over two hundred yards rushing. So it's all over the team, team winning. We keep doing that, We're gonna
win a lot of games careers. You think this was the best year you played, h I mean yeah, I think it could get a little better too. So uh for it's not off for it's not on the gas yet. So it's gonna keep going. And um, you know, just keep doing what I gotta do to help the team win. Um, just be more consistent with it, you know, so I can have more days like this for the team. That's excite. I'm excited as hack. UM never been two and though
never been three and not here. But the best thing about being four and though is being able to be five and not so. Um, we're just gonna go back to watch film for this, uh, from this game, see what we can get better at and on to next you getting down fourteen nouns and wolkeos up being on the sideline. Nobody flinched. It was just we I mean, we gotta tip pass and kind of pick six. You know, they capitalized on that and then they got a little score,
but we nobody flinched. So we just came went back to our regular offense and you know, just drove down the field and just put points on the board. That's all it takes for you. I think the camera's calling on my best to breaking it. Would you think that that was eventually gonna call uh uh the old line. I mean, I'm gonna keep coming back to the old line. They do a heck of a job and making a lot of stuff easy for me out there. So and that play right there was definitely easy, just reading the
front side and background. He hit the wrong gap and I put it bursts out of front side. So as a kid growing up in the pits for how used to were you these type of conditions. I love it. I love I know. I know half the league is is people from the South, and I know when to get cold. Southern players don't like the tackle, So I like these type of games. The best part about four and oh is the chance to go five and I throw that on a T shirt. That was a going
for today. But Miles Stairs had one hundred and thirty four yards two touchdowns, career high for him. But looking at the running back group as a whole, you remove Boston Scott from the equation as this running back group operates as a by committee approach. The most part, of course, with Miles Sanders leading the way, a chance for Trey Sermon he got a few touches today making his Eagles debut.
And then Kenny Gamwell he always answers the ball as well. Yeah, nice to see Trey Sermon in there eagerly anticipating when he would get an opportunity to go out there and play. Unfortunately, Boston got injured, so he's brought up. Nice job by him, But I'm more impressed with the twenty seven carries that Miles Sanders had day without putting the ball on the ground, being quite frankly, he hadn't had that type of workload
at any point in his career as a professional. And to see him tote the ball with authority today and this type of type of weather where the ball is on the ground constantly for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I was impressed that Miles was able to be able to tote the ball today that many times have the Jags stripping at the ball, punching at the ball, and he never
put the ball on the ground once today. Very impressed by that last thing when you have twenty seven carriers, like they're not all gonna be perfect, they're not all gonna be beautiful, but to not put the ball on the ground, and he gets the fumble recovery on that dropped snap from Jalen Hurts as well, So it heads
up play for Miles in that respect. But I think when you look at his impact in this game, we had a couple of catches that went for first downs as well, So really strong performance here from number twenty six, big part of the reason why the Eagles won this game. We talked on the Kickoff Show, the Jaguars defense is tied for first and league in turnovers. So we were saying, if you think you look at this weather, you think the Eagles are gonna put it on the ground a
lot is a perfect storm for turnouvers. The way they were able to hang onto the ball was very impressive. But before we went to the break, we were talking about Hassan Reddick a little bit, like, what do you think about the role he's really starting to assume on this defense. I'm loving it. He refers to himself as the weapon and so they can use him jest about anywhere. And I know when we signed his song, Reddick, you know he's coming off for two straight years of double
digit sacks. As fans, that's all we really care about, right, let him get out of the quarterback. Let him get out of the quarterback. And that's what they're padn't even do. But I love the fact that he's also being used in other areas, dropping back in coverages a linebacker. And what that allows for John than Ganning to do is to disguise some things for other guys. Because if you get a beat on Hassan and you think he's coming every time, well when he drops back in coverage, now
somebody's coming from the other side. So I think he allows jonathangan and to use a variety of different looks to get him freed up. But when you're in the game like this, he wants to get after that quarterback. Today today was a perfect game for him. And when he's when he's trying to get the sack, the thing I'm noticing about him, he goes for the football. It used me a day in time you wanted to hurt
the quarterback when you got to him. Smarter players get the football on the grounds, swipe it out of their hands. It counts as a sack as well, and a force fumball. Yeah, he's got a GPS for the football, is absolutely locked in on the quarterback's hands and he is going for
that puppy. So I think when you look at Hassan Reddick and the way that he attacks the football, the way he gets after the quarterback in the passing game, and then as I mentioned the versatility as well, I go back to the first sack the Eagles had last week against Washington. They lined up in that five down front. You had Brandon Graham on one side, he had Hassan Reddick on the other, and what happened the Washington Commanders. They left both their tight ends on the Brandon Graham side.
Brandon Graham drops out. You had five blockers blocking two Eagles defenders. You had two one on ones on the other side, Fletcher Cox and Hassan Reddick both wins. So when you have those kind of pass rushers that can be versatile, drop Josh sweat out, drop Brandon Graham. Certainly his son Reddick Patrick Johnson worked in the rotation off the edge. When you have all these guys that can drop, now, as an offense, you're trying to guess where is that
fourth rusher coming from the Eagles. We have been able to take advantage over these last couple weeks. Today was a performance for Howie Roseman two because we saw the way that players went down and there was depth in all of those positions to plug and play. But we also saw the importance of picking up veteran players in
free agency like James Bradbury and Hassan Reddick. James Bradbury's interception was the perfect perfect example of having veteran eyes on the field because it's a very experienced defender and he was just watching the eyes of a young quarterback. He knew where that ball was going and he played it perfectly. Well, you're absolutely right, Allen. This deep started to show its teeth Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. You know, you kind of throw away that first game
that was like an extra preseason game, poor tackling. But since then they've been outstanding and they continue to get better as a unit. I know they gave up two touchdowns today. The one came a little bit late. You're playing a little bit of a looser defense because you got a two score lead, and then you don't want to have blown coverages. And I think that happened a
few times with some young players in the secondary. But when you look at the depth that this defense has, it allows in the veteran experience on that side of the ball. It allows them to have more to work with when they go out there in The communication amongst these guys, even though they haven't played a lot of football together, has been very impressive to me. There was a couple of times that they were able to get to Trevor Lawrence today solely because he had nowhere to
go with the football. The coverage is better on the back end and it's working with the pass Rush. We talked about that all week off for last week's game versus Washington, and the scary thing is it's still early, but his defense this deepens can get better as the season goes home. And you know what I love over the last three weeks as well. Going back to Minnesota the Monday night game, they shut down Justin Jefferson. He's the guy. Hey, we have to worry about Justin Jefferson.
Don't let eighteen beat us. Well documented the performance they had against him. Fast forward a week later, Hey, we can't let Terry McLaren in that passing game get after us. McLaren didn't have a catch until the third quarter. Go into this game, Hey, Christian Kirk, you don't have a Vonte Maddox. How are you going to stop him? Nine targets, two catches. He had that one forty five yard or on the blown coverage at the end of the game. You take that out and it's one catch for minuscule
yardage there for their number one weapons. So I think the Eagles they're going out with a good game plan. They're executing that game plan even missing Maddox and Sleigh in this game. Really impressive performance from this back seven. We've talked so much about the run game that you wouldn't even know A J. Brown had five receptions for ninety five yards. Herewys had one hundred yards on the day, and I feel like you've really never even heard his name.
But that's the beauty in this offense is if they're getting it done on the ground, they still have weapons if they need to get it down on the field. They were thrown to A J. Brown Dallas Goddard on the screens and then they were just really really pounded in a way on the ground. Yeah, that's what makes it difficult to stop this offense is because they can
hurt you through the air and on the ground. And Jalen's making good decisions with the football, and it's always a good decision to go to the number eleven with the ball. He usually comes down with the catch, and because he has such strong hands, you never have to worry about when the ball hits his hand, he's usually going to catch it. And when you got a point guard like Jalen as our quarterback sitting back there picking a team apart as a defense, you're sitting back and
you're saying, do I go atter him? Do I try to get atter him or do we sit back and try to play coverage against him? And giving Jalen time to throw the ball is a mistake now because he's developed as that passer where he can pick you apart. That's think a J. Brown. Five catches on the day, four of them go for first downs, and that's we win this offense. You know, you go back to like you know, I've grew up in Philadelphia, Alan iverson growing up. This team needs a bucket, give it to a He's
he's gonna get you a bucket. If this team needs a bucket offensively, ball's going to number eleven. He's able to come through. And by the way DeVante Smith get him, he can get you a bucket. Dallas Goddard can get you a bucket. This offense so many different ways to be able to beat you defensively, twenty five first downs. On the other side of that, they're a third down efficiency wasn't as strong as we've seen four for fifteen. They were gutsy on fourth down. There were three for five.
But where do you hope to see that third down efficiency? Improof well execution, that's usually what it is, and you can get in down and down and distances that are manageable. This team, believe me, the way they move the ball, with the efficiency they do, they're gonna start to convert those third downs, right, They're gonna start to convert those
starts down. And it's probably somewhat of a tendency there that the defenses are picking up on that they're seeing maybe something that we like to do that we've shown through the first four games. So when you go back to the drawing board and do self scouting, those are things that you're gonna look at and say, Okay, look tweak here or tweak there, and they'll be right back
on track of the one of the things. So that's one of the things I tracked throughout the course of the game is what does the offense do on third down?
What does the defense do on third down? A few of those plays, especially in the first half, they were four down situations where hey, we're gonna run a run play early and that's gonna set up fourth and one, and then you see Jalen Hurts get it on the quarterback sneak or they come back with a tackle power and they score a touchdown on the next play and so that throws it off a little bit, but two ice point not where it needs to be right now
in this game. Offensively on third down, they've been operating a little bit better over the first three weeks than they did today. But a big reason why the Eagles were able to convert was a number of those fourth down conversions. We haven't asked guy question, Let's go, let's go. What do we got? Get your questions in the Facebook comments, you will answer them. Here we go. What's the biggest
improvement you've seen in Jalen Hurts this year? I would say his decision making and how quickly knows where to go with the football. You know, when you sometimes when you're here the turn of decision making, you think there's been a lot of mistakes that's been made. It's not like he turns the ball over a lot last year, but sometimes the process of processing that information can be delayed just because he didn't have the experience, I think,
and that's in the offense as well. So I think being in the same offense for consecutive years for the first time for him allows his process to be spared up to where it's almost second nature for him. And when you watch him field the ball. You obviously tell that his mechanics are much better this year than they were last year. And that's a testament to his hard work this offseason. Yeah, and that decision making that can
happen before the snap as well. I'm excited to go back to the film and see where that happened in this game. But going back to last week against Washington, he had that QB draw where he changed the play at the line of scrimmage down in the red zone that was one block away from being a twenty three yard touchdown for Jalen Hurts. And then he changed the play and changed some things around on that AJ Brown
touchdown against the Commanders as well. And so although that that decision making that shows up after the snap and before the snap, can we talk about his power? The way he bulldozed his way through those defenders. He brought them with him into the end zone. It's something not many quarterbacks have in this league. No, I mean, listen, his squatting is well right now right it was the six hundred and seven hundred pounds, so we know he has the strong lower body, but he's a tough kid.
I think the mentality that he plays with is going to be I think it's going to rub off on his teammates. They appreciate that, right that touchdown that he's scored on, his teammates get hyped up about that. We obviously don't want him taking those type of hits going
into the end zone, but I love his mentality. He knew he would have to take a hit to get the ball in the end zone Lord's head and was able to get in there and on a few of those third and ones or fourth and ones when you're quarterback sneaking, I mean his ability to push the power with those legs, it's pretty good. Also, we have Hassan Reddick at the podium, someone they good at forcing bubbles. Said again Man first as the just taking drill work to the game. You know we practice it coach while
she drills anti rock. They both, you know, they harp on it um. So just taking what on coach to do, what we do at practice, and then just taking it to the game. Everyone. I think team like to defense to set the tone of the rest of the way and let them square. Man even gave up one score until that last one. Does this defense starting the company for like it's starting to come together, especially in the last three weeks. We are and we and we still got some ways to go. We know that, right Um,
right now, our thing is just getting better each week. UM, and so far we have been doing that. Uh. We got to continue to harp on the details, continue to hold everybody accountable so that way we can rally back in games like this. You know, we were on the sideline saying it's a lot of ball left. We knew the game was far from over, and we just decided to go out there, worked and you know, do our best to dominate the men that was in front of us, get behind in that game and having the battle back
and show you something about the sea. It just shows who we are. You know. It got upon us early. Nobody wavered, though nobody flinched. You know, everybody, let's go who let's keep going. We got them and that's exactly what That's exactly what we did. We kept their heads down, continue to work, um, played ourselves back into the game, took the league and got the W. Today feel like a better way, but again like a walk off me personally, no, I haven't. That was my first one. Oh man, It's
just felt amazing. You know, it felt amazing just to be able to pull him up. But you know, game, a game like the day, that walk ahead doesn't happen without the rest of the guys that's on the field. And you know, I know we made some mistakes, but for the most part, I just felt like we played some good football today. Defense as a whole, do you guys kind of have to be when you're starting to turn it over and maybe say it again, defense as a whole when you start turning it over at it again.
You guys had five turnovers and said, you guys kind of get that deal as a unit that maybe you can make these plays. Yeah, I mean, you know, well, we know where we can be. You know, we know what we can do. It's just a matter of going out there every week and just in doing it. You know, it doesn't it doesn't really matter if we don't go out on the field and execute. And that's why I talked about the accountability earlier, because we're holding each other
to a higher standard. Um that way, we can hit the goals that we want and get you know, go win and know each and every week. I think whether played the factor and how easy you guys get started over. Do you think the weather played the factor at all? And how easily you guys are able to generate some turnovers? I mean, why they played in the same weather we did. Why what we say here and make weather an excuse
for anybody? You know what I'm saying. We came out here and played in the same exact whether they did. Nobody was talking about whether when they went at fourteen zero one is what's that? So we ain't gonna make that excuse. They came out here and they played in the samy stack of environment that we played in the first tis this is our city. It's just my read your lips. Why you came here most definitely, man, I talked about it before when I was doing interviews when
I first got signed there. A lot of people don't have the opportunity to come back home and play, and in fact that I did, and it was that, you know, that offer was on the table. I jumped at it. I talked to before when you got here about what that was gonna be like with all your friends and family. Now that you played in four games, what has that sort of been like, Oh, that's the same. They're still happy. They get the root for the hometown team. You know
what I'm saying. Um, And not only that, they get the root for me as well while they're doing and there's no split feelings. You know, I would hear some of my family talk about how you know they're they're they're they're Cardinals fan or Carolina fan because they're a fan off I signed ready, but but knowing that they're you know, their true team was the Eagles. They grew up watching the Eagles play, raised Eagles. And uh, now that I'm back home, it just makes it better for them.
A game like that when you get home, so you get the locker room, how many how many messengers around your phone? Oh? Man, I didn't even check yet. I enjoyed the win. Um. Uh, you know when I got in the locker room, I enjoyed the women. My teammates first and foremost. Right we out there on the field, we're putting in the work. We're going against these guys. Um And and a win like that, you know, it's only right to enjoy it with my teammates first, my brothers. First.
I made it sure I did that. I and then be honest with you, I haven't even opened up my phone yet, you know, I enjoyed the win, celebrated with my teammates, and got right in here. For you guys, considering your college years, you think it's the best game you've played yet in this stadium. In this stadium, I can't sit there and say that we had some great
times at Temple playing in this stadium. Um. You know, I'm just glad that I get to come back home and play in front of, you know, some of the people that got to watch me grow up, some of the people that got to watch me on my Temple days, and just genuine you know, and to be able to be home, you know where I grew up at. Um, it's a It's a lovely thing. The game where when you had through seventy five, oh yeah, I just you know, I felt like I was I was setting him up
for it. Um. You know, all game I actually had told wlsh like, I think it's about time for me to pull this move out and my dad and you know I was able to get the sack, thank god. Can you talk about your comfort level on a defense. Now you've been in coverage, you've been rushing them passer, Can you just elaborate on your comfort level with disappoint you. I've been comfortable. You know, I've been comfortable if I apprecched it. No, I ain't gonna say I've preached it,
but I've said it many times. J G always asked me, you know what am I comfortable with and what am I not comfortable with? So it's never like I'm going out there and I'm not comfortable with something. I know exactly what I'm asked to do. If I if I'm uncomfortable with it, I have no problem with JG. No, But anything that you see me out there doing on the field, I'm comfortable with it. I've talked to JJ about it. We know what the goal is. It's just up to me now and go out there and execute
it at a high levels. As next suld be coming today. For Hassan Reddick, I thought it was crazy how you could still hear how loud it is. I could hear in the background. The link was rocking today, Rainers Shine, you were over there in the first half, Like, what was it like? Well, I mean, listen, you gotta get these Eagles fans a lot of credit. That was not ideal weather, but it was good football weather, except that it was cold. And wet, but they still showed up.
Pregame show was live before the game. Crowd was rouncius Listen, Doug got a nice round of applause when when he came out on the field and listen, you know what these Eagles fans are They they aren't going to let a little rain keep them away. I will say this, I did see a few empty seats in there, not many, but a few, I will say, just judging by Twitter, it sounds like the locker room right now is all
they partying in the locker room. There's a lot of meek Mill being played, so good vibes in the locker room right now. That's what he said. He said, we know who we are, we know how good we can be, but we're not anything if we don't execute. And that's been kind of the theme of the past four weeks. We know they can execute in second quarter. Eighty five second quarter points they've put on and finally they got those second half points on the board, kind of got
that monkey off their back. They were asked quite a bit about that this week. What's it going to take to put points on the board in the second half. They finally did it today and I wanted to see it. I was one of those people that were asking the question because it's a little easier to play when you have a lead early, you play a lot more comfortable.
But being down fourteen points and having to play all the way through, this team showed that they have character and they can fight through adversity and they can persevere. It was quiet in there when they got down fourteen
nothing and we didn't know what was going on. But I love the character of this team to make up of his locker room man, and it's it's a pleasant surprise because a lot of these guys having played together for a long time, so to see them be able to come together get on the same page, it's pretty impressive. All Right, We're gonna go to head coach Nick Sirianni at the podium. This is Miles fire Away. Gotta be
nice to me now my son too. Nick go went into the decision to go for it on fourth down late in the games, said, a kick down feels uh, you know, we we just we just uh had to do what we felt was best in that particular moment with the weather and everything. Um, yeah, I don't want to get into to anything else. Really there, and we just felt like that was our best option in that particular case. What was the feeling on the sidelines when you guys were down fourteen? Noted, how did you feel?
The guys obviously they responded, but what did you feel in the moment? Felt like we've we've we've talked like, we've talked about adversity. Right, Have we faced a lot of adversity? Not really? Right in three games, we probably have, and we had a battle up there in Detroit, but we have we faced a lot of adversity, not really, And so it was a great, great opportunity to say, hey,
we we we've talked about this, we've discussed this. You guys are built, your players here, Your reason you're here is because you're built to be able to handle adversity. They're not. Every game's gonna be pretty. Not every game's gonna be It's gonna be money sometimes, and it was money right there, and our guys just buckled down and defense I thought was playing well. Yeah, they let up a long drive, but it was fourteen nothing because we gave them. We we spotted them seven. They made a
good play. I don't want to say they we spotted them seven. They made a really good play, they got a good pressure on and uh and then we you know, they made a good play there and finish it for a touchdown. And so you know, being down fourteen nothing, It's just it's a long game, right, just like it's a long season. And and what a good example there of like okay, hey we're four and oh right now, you gotta play the next play and you gotta play the next game. And you got to do that same thing.
Uh and in the midst of a game, not just week to week. As far as the other Miles, what was working four Miles Sanders today, that was going to play Miles Sanders are number one back. There ain't no question about it. To run as much as you do. Conditions, Hey, we will do whatever we need to do to win the football game. And of course conditions are gonna we're gonna play into that. We look at everything, we take everything into account, and um, we're run the ball really well.
I think that second quartered our offensive line was rolling. And that's a good defensive line. Uh. You know, and I've known that going back to my indie days, that that's a really good defensive line. And but our offensive line. I'll take them over anybody in this league. I love that. I love that group. They they they they're gritty, they're grimy,
they're tough, they're physical. And we had to play some guys today, you know, and and uh and you can see what good job that coach Stout does um of developing guys and getting guys ready to play that might not play. And I got Jack Driscoll, Suwa orright. Those guys stepped in and did a really nice job. And I told you that's nine sacks. You get a game ball defensive line, two hundred yards rushing, you get a
game ball offensive line. If I had eight game balls out of throwing them out right there, Greg didn't have them ready for me quite yet. Though. The final two minutes of the first half this season, all four games you've scored actually scored five times choices as the vikings and the twenty six points to what is it about those drives where you guys have been so successful quarterback
play playing really good and really poison that scenario. We spend a ton of time talking about situational football, a ton, and that's a tribute to the coaches I've been around in the past. Of how important situational football is in the amount of time you spend on it. You emphasize
things and you get things. But it don't make no mistake about our players are doing a great job executing it, Shane and Kevin Patool does a great job of you know, Kevin does all the kind of the scouting report for it and getting us ready for it and kind of you know, putting together thoughts for it, and we talked through it, and Shane does a great job calling it in that scenario. And what unbelievable opportunity I have to be able to say, Shane and Kevin, you guys are
rolling right here, you got it. Letting me handle clock management with our guys upstairs, and we just go. And so that's you know, that's us being able to say, you know, be able to do that. And then our we got really good players executing right Our offensive line, uh protects their protects their butt off in those scenarios.
Shane calls it the right way with as far as we're going for run and then going to pass and and this and that Chanlin's and complete control aj Dallas Davante quaz or In in that scenario, Um Kenny Gainwell is our protection back, in our in our scat back in that area. So it's just really good operation by by the entire unit, players, first coaches after that, Each week a different part of the offense has contributed, with the wide receivers and the offensive line in the running dens.
How if we choose the coach, I got to know that whatever whatever game situation is, that you know, you can have confidence that you can kind of win in
any CONDI I think that's what it is right there. Confidence, right, and so some of the fourth down calls right here, I was able to have confidence in our team to go for a confidence in our offensive line, confidence in our backs, confidence our receivers if we were throwing it or running it right, confidence in our defense that if we if we didn't convert it, that they'd make a stop.
So I think you said it right. There's confidence, and it's great when you're able to win different ways, right, It's great when you're you know, do you ever want to get in a fourteen nothing hole? That is not ever It's like, hey, we haven't been in a fourteen nothing hole. Let's get into That's not our thought process. But it was great to be able to win different ways, and it's great to be able to win on different units and lean on different units. So, um, great job
by those guys today the environ come back. What does it tell you about the quarterback? I mean, you saw Trevor turn it over five times obviously really difficult weather. What does that say about you parents to be able to play. He knows how important it is to take care of the football and you know, and you know, and he can do it right and he can go out there and execute and take care of the football. So it's huge, um, you know, because that's that's such a key. Uh, it's such a key to winning and
losing games. And I think that even elevates when the when it's messy outside. Um. And so it was great that he was able to execute under the conditions that we are in because it was it was it was messy out there. It was really messy. And I know how he talked to me asking me after the game was like, was it did it get worse on during in the game, And I'm like, yeah, it got a lot worse, um, And it got messing. The ball got a little bit wet. But our players are communicating with
us what they think here and there. To have guys like Jason Kelsey, Lane Johnson, Isaac Um, those guys were able to communicate with you to tell you what's working, feel what's working, how the defense is playing. That's huge shirts to send messages. I see you have the Rocksboro High School shirt. Was kind of your message to that.
You know, I grew up going uh. One of my best memories growing up is, uh, you know, being able to do the things that I was able to do on the football field as a little kid, whether that's uh, pretending on Marcus own and jumping over the pile and you know, setting the dummies up and jumping over the pile, taking a hand off or if it was given a player a water bottle. You know, I looked up to
certain guys there. You know. Obviously I looked up to Mike Sirianni and Jay Sirianni that was the starting quarterback, starting wide receiver. I looked up to to Pete Conley
who was starting fullback and half back. You know, I looked up to John Briggs, who is my brother's best friend and his receiver and to be able to hand them, you know, of water bottle and say, you know, and so I have so many vivid memories about that, and uh, and I just feel I just feel bad for the kids that that that that you know, they don't they didn't feel safe, maybe don't feel safe going there. And uh, so my heart goes out to him, I thought, and
my thoughts and prayers go out to him. Um, and and hopefully they feel safe going back and playing a game that you know, can help take us out of bad situations, not put us in bad situations. Interactions. I have so much respect for coach Peterson. He's he uh, first of all, first and foremost. I've heard that he's
one of the best people in this game. And uh from multiple outlets of people in this building, the people that have played for him, um, people that I know that have coached with him, that he's the top nach person. And obviously, you see what he's doing was this football team. He's got this football team doing a good job. Being quiet, buddy, he's doing a good job with this football team. And
that's a tough team, that's a good football team. And and he's got him confident and believing, and so uh, you know, interactions with him are just I like to tell him when I when I feel like a guy's a really good coach and he's got a really good team, I like to tell him. You know, best compliment I can get is like, hey, your coach, your team is really well coached. And that's so I like to pay
that compliment to guys that I believe that about. And there's no doubt, my mom, Jackson, the Jaguars are really well coached and really good hands with coach Peterson. You've been telling us to wait for it, and finally it came. How incredible, but it ending that. You know what's great about Hassan and how he was just talking to me about this. You know, he's a guy that has been able to force a lot of fumbles, not only get
to the quarterback, but force a lot of fumbles. And you know, we talk so much about creating turnovers and and how you create turnovers, and there's there's definitely things we can do as coaches to take it to another level, but make no mistak about it's about the players creating the turnovers, and good players know how to create turnovers.
And Hassan man and I said to him and Sean Bradley and Kaiser White after the game, like, hey, there's there ain't nothing like winning in Philly because they know about that, right, and they know about especially Hassan and Hassan and Uh and Sean playing here at Temple and that they're quick to tell me at Temple they had college game Day here and stuff like that, and so it ain't nothing like like winning in Philly. And I'm glad we got some Philly guys here that we're winning with.
All right, thanks, thanks very happy head coach. As the team goes four and Z to start twenty twenty two. As you saw who was wearing a Roxburgh High School football t shirt to honor the lives loss of the shooting just outside of a football scrimmage, and TJ. Edwards actually walked into the link today wearing a Roxburgh High School football jersey. I think it's as unfortunate and sad and tragic as this is to see the Eagles embrace this cause. And we've seen what they've done in sp
word of ending feeling gun violence. You never want to see this, but to see the support is very uplifting. Yeah, not surprised at all, high character guys his team, I don't know how you couldn't have been somehow moved or touched by what happened earlier in the week out there at Rockborough High School with the kids, and man, I just know, I I know I felt it when I
when I heard the news. And we've all played ball in high school, and you know, to have innocence sort of taken away from you when you're not looking to be involved in any mischievous behavior or anything of that nature, and to be just um, have a life taken away, it's just sad, it really is. So heart schools out too, obviously all the families out there, but particularly those those boys that were called in that crossfire and the one young man who lost this, like the fourteen year old
his parents. Man, it's just it's sad, it really is. And I still have my daughters in high school, so you know she likes going to football games and things that nature. You just don't It makes you. It makes you think about all sorts of things and how it can affect you when you see something like that. So it's great to see the players and coaches, really the city come together and try to show support the well
said the Eagles. Have you done a lot whether it's you know, money, putting money where their mouth is, and obviously actions like this just trying to bring awareness to something that it is a pandemic plaguing our country. It's obviously here in Philadelphia, but this entire country, and it's a problem that needs to be solved. And you can stay tuned because we surely will be working on this here at the Eagles, and you'll see things on our social media accounts. At the week's roll on well too,
uplift things a little bit. We go to a guy who can always make us laugh and entertain us, and that's Darius Slay, who hit Twitter just recently and said, let's go great team win, Fly Eagles Fly. It was unfortunately to see Darius Slay leave the game today. Hopefully we'll get an update on his injury status soon. Yeah, and you know, this guy's tough. At three straight weeks that he's gotten banged up, but he's managed to stay in the game. So I was a little surprised to
see him not back out there. I hope everything is gonna be okay and there's nothing that's going to keep him out long term. Slay is another one of those guys that you need that infectious personality in the locker room and out there on the field with you. I think he insteals confidence in those guys because he plays with such a swagger and such confidence. Can't wait to get him back out there on the field. Yeah, no doubt. Obviously a huge impact. We saw that in week two
Monday Night Football. But everything that he does throughout the course of the week, he's a captain for a reason. So having him out there obviously this Eagle's defense much better for it. As we learn more about the sizes of Avonte Maddox, if he'll be out for more weeks, they're gonna have to really start digging into the depth
of the secondary and we'll see how they can perform. Well, that's the one thing that you know, it's hard to account for because you don't know when they're going to happen, and that's injuries, and so you certainly want to make sure you have the proper depth there and guys that can fill in. And those guys that are now standing job today, Zach mcferris and Josiah Scott I thought had an up and down day, you know, being thrust until
the fire today. But if those guys do have to play next week, at least they would have had a week of preparation as opposed to being thrust out there in the middle of a game. So depth is always something you want to make sure you have plenty of. But it's hard to replace those caliber players when you're talking about Darius Slay and Vante Maddox, some of the
best at their position in the league. Yeah, dipping into the depth along the offensive line as well, with twarding towards Milatta, who apparently said in the locker room that he's going to get an MRI on Monday. But you looking towards my Alatta exiting the game, Isaac Sayamalo exiting the game. Landon Dickerson was in and out of the lineup last week. So seeing the depth really being used
so far early in the season. So we're through four weeks, As Miles Sanders said, let's go five and oh evaluating the Eagles through four weeks. What is an area where you look at the team and you think this is where they are extremely successful, Like across the board, consistently successful. Think running the football. I mean, with the exception of last week, I thought they've been able to run the ball when they choose to three out of the four games.
When you're playing as well as this team has played this year on both sides of the football, you really do. It's really nitpicking when you look for something right to try to improve upon. But I like the offense, man. I feel confident every time they're out there on the field. Has been a while since. You know, you feel like every time they take the field they're going to get points, and you're almost surprised that they don't move the ball into either field goal position or into the end zone
to score a touchdown. Well, a typical like fashion, he wants to talk about the offense. I will talk about the defense here. I think, really look the last three weeks we've seen them win in different ways. Last today, five turnovers last week, nine sacks the week before, complete shutdown of the opposing passing game, all the while shutting down the run game. Travis Etn the leading rusher thirty two yards on the ground for Jacksonville with Etn James
Robinson's thirty one yards I believe rushing. So the Eagles did an outstanding job limiting this run game. Today, the early downs runs against this team forget about it, and then late in the down they're getting after the quarterback. So I think when you look at this defense, complete team defense over the first month of the season, I think what's special about this team is that they're complete
in all three phases. Last year we saw a lot of the defense can bail out the offense, but the offense couldn't execute, or Jalen Hurdts had to put the team on his back to get something going, or to get it done or get in the end zone. I don't feel like it's one unit has to really make up for the other one. It goes back and forth. Today was a perfect example. We talked about capitalizing on turnovers. The defense was going to get the ball back and
the offense was going to score. I think that's something really special and something the Eagles have going for them here. Yeah, they're playing complimentary football, right. I mean, whether you're the defense and you're taking the ball away given the offense a short field, or whether you're the offense and you realize your defense knees a breather and you're able to put together a long drive. And it seems like in these first four games, whatever the situation, calls for they
had the answer to answer the call. So, UM, again, it's only four games and you don't want to get too far ahead of yourself, but man, this is this is impressive to me because the turnover and talent on the defensive side of the ball and the level on which Jayalen is playing right now, the man himself is at the podium jail to start down fourteen nothing to come back. The way you guys did to the ball was changed, the composure you guys have or was accompanied
two things. You know that makes me think about how we've we've been kind of been. Um. The thought of how we've played in the second half and in the first quarter of this season. UM. In my answer to the lack of points in the second half has always been just got to execute. We just got to do our uh control we can execute and do our job. And I think, um, that's the mentality we have as a football team, regardless of the circumstance UM of fourteen
old down fourteen old. You control what you can, UM, do your job and execute, dominate your box individually. UM. You tend to do good, good things. UM. And I think today this team didn't flinch. UM. We found a way. We didn't flinch. We persevered. UM. We were unwavering. And how we played um, nothing nothing, nothing was able to deny us. UM. And I'm so proud of how this team played. UM, how we handled the conditions outside. You got cross wins going twenty to thirty miles per hour. UM,
it's it's in the fifties and it's it's raining sideways. UM, and we're able to be be pretty efficient and everything that we did UM that that's that's a great team wins we have on the run game and even though early on I guess there there was some struggle there getting yards. UM. Now I just think we did what we did. I think what we have to realize about this football team is UM, we we we we can. We can be fishing in everything that we do. UM.
That can be running the ball, passing the ball, UM, defensively. UM. That's our goal. That's our goal to be a fishing and everything that we do. UM. Well, we look at this game and we see there are some bad in it. UM. We see that there are some things that can definitely be fixed. UM. But but we also look at this and UM, we found out a lot about this football team.
I think just in terms of being able to persevere, being steadfast, um, and you know, controlling what we could, We control what we could today and um, you know, good things happening. Then when's the last time you're playing again with that kind of weather? Well, I always joke about not ever getting rained, um, but I don't know
if I could um avoid her came. So, yeah, my sophomore year in high school is probably last time I had something like that as the first time you guys have lost starters to injury, storing game on both sides of the ball. But I didn't think the old kind of came together after you lost to Isaac. And yeah, I look at Jack and I look at Opela, and those are two guys that that have always kind of since I've been here at least, always come in and
being able to play at a high level. Um, always being ready when their phone rings and they answer, ready to go. And defensively, you know, Tay going down and Scott coming up and play playing his tail off defensively, everybody's just everybody's just doing what they need to do. And I think as a football team, I think that's we did. I think, um, you know the mentality throughout the week is what prepared us for UM this environment today, UM to being this circumstance today and be able to
overcome it. UM. I think that's a testament to how we work, how we think. UM. You know, we want to enjoy it. Run. What's the approach organ thinking they're knowing the linebackers, they're way to get in make away? UM. None none more than that. UM. I appreciate the trust UM and coach Sirianni UM allowing us to you know, we were we were in the and Doug was coach. Doug was in a lot of those situations too, UM.
But in positions where it was fourth down, fourth and long fourth and medium maybe UM and we and we went for it. And I think that's just coach Sirianni trust and UM trusting me in the offense and UM, you know something we hit something we didn't, but we
hit enough. And they say that stounds make fights. This offense seems examples to win any in any concept with the front of game back again, can you talk about you know, how much of a comfort exactly you knowing that you can you can playing any stoul Well, I think, UM, I think that's just a testament to how we work, Um, what we do, and I think being able to be
multidimensional as an offense. UM, having an identity of just just executing and trying to execute with consistency, whatever it's called. That's what we try and go out there and do. The game changes, UM, the intent and what we want to accomplish may change, but UM, it's about finding a way in every in, every gay in the field, all eleven doing their job. Was Miles able to kind of take advantage of, you know what draftsman was trying to do to stop on what I think Miles. Miles ran
really hard today, UM, and Miles protected the ball. Everybody protected the ball. UM. I mean he made plays. I mean you can't you see him running the diagonal route cutting across the field, And I mean he played angry in my opinion, UM, he played with a purpose tonight, this evening, this afternoon, excuse me, UM, And he deserved it. He deserved it. He had a hell of a game. UM. We have a lot of respect for Doug, as I've said all week, UM, and you know, just excuse me.
I told Doug. I told Doug like I really appreciate you, and I have a lot of respect for you. UM. And I told him, I said, I thank you because you're the reason why I'm here, you know what I mean. And I have a I have a lot of love and love and respect for him, his way of coaching, his coaching style and how he does things and the great things he's doing in Jacksonville right now. UM, I have a lot of respect for him. I wish some
numb but the best moving forward. Did you see on the interception it was a it was a pick and pick six. It happens not throw a pick six? What would you do differently? I know, Hey, we won. You mentioned persevering. Uh did anything need to be said about you down fourteen? Nothing? Remind the guys. I think that was the most beautiful thing, right, There's nothing needs to be said, nothing needs to be said. There was no come to Jesus moment. There was no UM, there was
no come to Jesus moment. It was, hey, we're built for we We built ourselves for this UM and we want to have that type of mentality. So let's find out what type of team we are. UM. And and we asked, we asked the belt today we asked the bell today, this is just the beginning. UM. We have a long, long way to go. And we know that there were unconventional um circumstances and the unconventional environment out there with the conditions of the game. But we we presevered,
we found a way. UM. And this is a step for us. It's a step, you know, we've taken a step from week one to week two, tweek three, tweek four. UM, it's all about growing and continue that climb. And UM, just just just striving to be the football team you want to be. You said, Doug is the reason you're here. We need and he dropped me. I appreciate them for that. I wouldn't be here without him. Did you ever do that? Ain't going on? That sounds my left the end? Did
you I didn't? Um, I saw I watched the big screen usually, UM, watch the big screen to get the ball back. Defense. Like I said, the defense played a hell of a game. They they played the hell of a game. UM. And I think it's twofold being able to, you know, being able to get turnovers like that in those conditions and being able to for the most propertect the ball in those conditions. In comparison in terms of
the turnover differential. UM, I think that was big. I think our d line played hat saw um j B caught the big time picked there For us offensively, we want to definitely capitalize off of every um opportunity we get from the defense. But you know, it's it's the same, it's the same old thing. Regardless of how the game goals or whatever it looks like. We enjoy. We enjoy our wins, um because we know they're they're not easy
to come by and they're earned. They're earned. But UM, there there's still a lot a lot more room for growth, and UM we're going to continue that once the twenty four hour mark hits and get ready for crazy. I would about the ball security, they brought that up as as as far as something you did today, what went into that was there was there something you had to do an extra or do different to sall um for sure?
For sure, UM, I think UM just just just having the right type of technique with the ball in the end, and there were there were there were moments where it wasn't as good as we liked. UM. There were there were moments where we protected the ball really well. UM, I think early on, obviously the pick six put us in a hole, but we didn't. We didn't flinch. Um. And every time we threw the ball after that, UM, we random ball. We had great, great ball security and
when we were all mindful of it. So, UM, it's in the testament to how we prepare, where we put our where we put our hats at, when we put our heads at, when we would prepare, Um, we knew it would kind of be a muggy day of you know, a bad day outside in terms of the weather, and we persevere through it. And I'm proud of this football team for being able to withstand any type of condition. Thanks, thanks,
thank you. That's you're even keeled, QB one. You never know the team was four and oh by the way, he takes the podium after these press conferences, but he was always looking ahead. He said, they persevered today and it's on to the next. Well earlier today, friend was able to break down the first mile centers rushing touchdown in this week's Freako review. All right, so this week here on the Rico Review, I want to look back to the first half the Eagles. Great response from this team.
They go down fourteen nothing to Jacksonville. The offense and defense both make plays tomorrow back into this game. This is the game time play. Now, Miles Sanders, he's the one who gets into the end zone. Five carriers for forty yards on that drive, four miles and let's take a look at the touchdown run because this is basic zone play here from Miles Sanders. He's going to carry
this off the right side. Now, I want you to watch the offensive line because Jason Kelsey and Isaac Sayamalo, they do a great job on what it's basically a little fold scheme where you're gonna get Isaac SAYMLO blocking down on the defensive tackle and Jason Kelsey's gonna wrap around almost like a lead fullback on this play. So we're gonna let this run for a sec. And you
can see these blocks kind of developed. Now, this is an advantageous box for the Eagles as well, because you saw that they had a little bit of a lighter box. The linebacker, he's got to hang out on the back side just in case Jalen Hurts decides to keep this ball. You can see Dallas Goddard, they're running a little bit of a screenplay on that back side. So this whole backside of that Jaguars defense, they're worried about everything that the Eagles could be doing on that side of the field.
Now back to the play side. Watch Jason Kelsey, he's pulling up to the second level. DeVante Smith, he's coming down to crack the safety. You see Jack Driscoll up to the second level lane. Johnson creates an excellent seal on the forced player. So this is a really nice, well defined ali And look who's leading the charge there four Miles Sanders. That's Jason Kelsey as the lead blocker. We can let this run. Miles does an outstanding job. Look at DeVante Smith the energy he's got on the
backside of that play. After delivering the block on the safety, the Eagles set a record an NFL record for points in the second quarter to start a season eighty five points in the second quarter over the first four games of the season. The Eagles do an outstanding job coming back into this game. This play tied it at fourteen. Now is your chance to vote for Toyota Player of the Week. Go to Philadelphia Eagles dot com slash Toyota Player of the Week to cast your vote. I get
a chance at a brand new Toyota. All right, bellas we go our three nominees. First up, James I Admiry with that interception, his second of the season. Sticking with the defense, we're going Hassan Reddick and his career day. Four total tackles, two sacks, a quarterback hit at TfL and two forced fumbles. All right. Lastly for the offense, Miles Sanders, another career day for this Eagles team. Team twenty seven carries one hundred and thirty four yards and
two touchdowns. Like you're already making eyes over there? What's it going to me? Man? Oh, I tell you gotta go with twenty seven carries, two touchdowns, no fumbles, no fumbles on the day, Hassan Ready, Great job, Hassan Reddick, But I gotta go with Booby Males. You are not doing your linebackers unbelievable. Black. I went defense last week. Get no, that's right, I went week. Look, we're gonna gore the fact that I've got a temple diploma hanging
up somewhere as somewhere in my house. But I will say it's gets on. Reddick. Two sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, the both of which were pivotal in this game. One in the comeback one to seal the victory. Late in the game, Hassan Reddick give it to the Temple Owl. Come on, what are you doing? Believable? I mean, the man had twenty seven carries above thirty two two touchdowns.
I was joking last week when I said we're gonna call your former teammates, I'm gonna call your for we would seth Toyer saying to you right now, he would not be happy, not be happy, should not be happy with me. All right, We're gonna turn our attention to Week five. The Eagles are headed to Arizona. They're gonna take on the Cardinals. The Cardinals are currently playing right now against Carolina, but a big opportunity for the Eagles to head out west and get a win in the
NFC West. Right now, they're down to the Panthers seven h in the second quarter. What do we think, guys, Well, you know, this team keeps playing the way that it is playing right now, it's almost it's hard to contain the excitement and the confidence. But this they should be five and at the next week's game. You know, Arizona going out there. I get it, it's going to be in their stadium, but the Eagles are just too good of a football team. I think Arizona has a lot
of question marks over there. This Eagles team. I'd be interested to see how many guys we have back they have left the game today so that we have them next week. But right now, I can't see anybody beating the Eagles right now. So Arizona have done a lot of work on then the last couple of days. Offensively, gotta worry about Kyler Murray. Threw a pick six today, that's why they're down seven nothing. So he threw a pick six against Carolina, But you have to worry about
his athleticism. So dynamic ball comes out fast. We've all seen the highlights with what he's done so far this season. He can create. Defensively, maybe more so than any team in the league. They are like, screw it, let's blitz. Screw every single play. They blitz more than they don't. It's unbelievable watching that defense play corners, safeties, linebackers, equipment managers. They got video guys getting out of the stands like everybody is getting after the quarterback. So that's the defense
that the Eagles are gonna prepare for this week. Very interesting. The Eagles haven't played two quarterbacks that are similar in any way, very different quarterbacks for the first four weeks. Tyler Mary will be another different one as well. Yeah, it's like a little water bug back there. But you gotta, you gotta, you gotta know where he's at because it
knows how to keep plays alive with his legs. All right, we will be a four twenty five kick, a little different than the usual one o'clock and then after that the Cowboys are coming to town for Sunday Night football. Well have you covered all throughout game day next week. Enjoy the rest of your night and go Birds.
