To five different receivers as the Buccaneers routed the Eagles forty five to seventeen at Lincoln Financial Field. Hello everyone, and welcome to the postgame show presented by Rico Here in Philadelphia Eagles dot com. I'm Chris McPherson alongside former Eagles linebacker Ike Reese. Mike. The Eagles are four and six now after an embarrassing loss at home to a team that came in four and five as well on the afternoon. Just barely escaped a win over the Dallas

Cowboys last Sunday. Took a WinCE in touchdown in the funnel Man to get that done. The Eagles dis supporting loss at home last week to Miami, came in here today golf to another good start, a Josh Hoff touchdown and gave him a seven nothing lead, and then the defense absolutely did not show up whatsoever. Doug Martin two hundred and thirty five yards on the ground, almost nine yards per carry. Ike. I don't know where to begin. Yeah,

I mean it's a tough one, Chris. I mean it's been a long time, you know, I've been sitting here trying to think about the last time the Eagles had you know something on the line at this time of the year where they didn't show up and at least perform, And this was this was a This was a game where you know, the Midnight Green did not show up, especially on the defensive side of the ball. And I

know Tampa had some good young talent over there. You know, Doug Martin as a former first round draft pick, thousand yard rusher, Pro Bowl running back. We know what Jameis Winston has the potential to be a couple of good receivers on the outside. But this is a pretty good Eagles defense that typically shows up to fight every week, and I just didn't see much fight out there from

this team. From the opening drive that Tampa was on, I mean, they were able to move the ball down the field pretty much all day, and then once the running game got going for Tampa, it was like the Eagles were at the Buccaneers mercy whenever they wanted to do. You want to go, Doug Martin running the ball? You want me to throw the ball to Mike Evans, Benson Jackson, however you want, and we'll be able to give it

to you. Over five hundred yards of total offense on his defense, It's been a long time since I've seen an Eagle defense put out that type of performance. With so much riding left in this season, like we've seen this Eagles team get off to slow starts. So you figure, okay, they're down twenty eight to fourteen, and a half time they're outscored twenty one to seven. In the second quarter, you figure, okay, maybe the Eagles will regroup. They're at home.

The crowd, they were into it at times, especially early on when they had some fight. You know, obviously they were looking for something to latch onto. Then you go into the third quarter, Buccaneers get the ball first. They started the twenty yard line, fifteen plays, eighty yards, over nine minutes off the clock, almost ten minutes off the clock. In fact, the Eagles offense didn't touch the ball in the second half until it was just over five minutes

left on the clock. At that point you realize there was just no way the Eagles were going to bounce back on this afternoon. When you say, going to this game, you could hang your hound. This defense. The defense is a big reason why this Eagles team has been four and five to this point in the season. But for whatever reason, Bill Davis's crew just did not were not able to stop or slow down the Buccaneers all day long. Yeah,

and that's been so disheartening about this game. And of course you need a total team effort to put out most wins. But the one thing I've always given this Eagles defense and Billy Davids credit for is that they show up every week to play. And he was came into this game with five losses, but you think about it, they lost games by one point field goal things of that nature. They've been in just about every game, even the losses, they've been in the game until the fourth quarter,

late in the fourth quarter. This is the first game that I can remember that they just didn't seem like they were in this game. After the first quarter, it just seemed like Tampa had full control of the momentum. It seemed like every big player that needed to be made, whether it be on third down or down in the red zone, Tampa was able to come up with it. And then on offense, you still had some struggles there where we couldn't sustain drives, couldn't pick up first downs.

And when a team like Tampa has it going offensively, you're gonna need your offense to try to keep pace with them by putting up points. And so when I look at when I look at this game today, I know a lot of that yardage and we'll focus on what the defense didn't do today, But this was a complete team effort in this loss. I mean, I'm not sure any phase showed up today ready to play. But this was a situation. We're coming into the game. You knew that the offense was starting a backup quarterback in

Mark Sanchez. You need to do something on defense to help him out, solidify, give him some stabilization, and they just didn't have it. Again, I go back to that third quarter drive. Four third down conversions were including the touchdown pass to a guy who played his college football in the IVY League tight end there. So when you look overall at just how the defense was just not able to get the job done to help out the offense because you knew this was a situation where you

don't want Mark Sanchez at quarterback. If this is going to be a double digit type game, you don't want him to have to force the ball down the field. You know that was getting out of the team's game plan. So early on you could say Sanchez was moving the ball with tempo. You know, there were some timing issues with you, Darren Sproles. We saw he was not quite on point with some of the tight ends. You know,

we had a couple drops in there. But still you figure, at least if the defense could do its part, it could keep the offense in the game, keep the team in the game. And then another thing that we go back to you from last week's game is the fact that the defense they didn't generate any turnovers. Yeah, I mean, you're absolutely right. When you're going in there with your backup quarterback. Even though Mark has plenty of starts under his belt, this is still his first start of the season.

You want to make things a little easier for him. Try to get him some short fields. The moment you forced Mark Sanchez to have to throw the ball as much as they had to throw the ball today and play from behind, it's going to be difficult to sustain success on that side of the ball. And I was a little surprised that we weren't a little more aggressive coming out to Jamis Winston. He's a young kid that's prone to throw interceptions if you put pressure in his face.

I think he has the worst completion percentage of any starting quarterback in the league. Versus the Blitz, I thought we'd see a little more pressure on him, forced him to get the ball out quick, show him some exotic looks so to keep his mind guessing, try to confuse him, and maybe that would create some turnovers for us. But it seemed like he was on his game today. He was on point. He knew where he wanted to go with the football. More importantly, he seemed to make accurate

throws when they needed to be made. And we couldn't come up with that big play on defense to sort of get the momentum going for us. Shortened the field for our offense, especially in the second half. You talked about that first drive of the second half of Tampa's I mean that was a wheel a wheeltaker, we call that coming in basically saying I'm gonna put my hat on your hat and see if you can stop me.

And when you have a drive that goes for nearly ten minutes to start the second half, man, after that, I'm not sure the Eagles felt like they could win after that drive. I mean that was basically a will killing drive. That first drive we're gonna hear from head coach Chip Kelly and quarterback Mark Sanchez in a little bit, but first we're gonna send it to Lincoln Financial Field

for the reaction from Dave Spider, Eagles Insider. On this Sunday in late November, everything fell apart for the Philadelphia Eagles, who are now four and six a season very much in the crossroads a forty five to seventeen loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Eagles taking a seven to nothing lead early Mark Sanchez completion and a fine catch and run from Josh Shuff, but from that moment on, it was all Tampa Bay, who outscored the Eagles forty

five to ten the rest of the way. Quarterback Jamis Winston five touchdown passes, the Buccaneers more than five hundred total yards, and it would have been way more had they continued to be aggressive offensively. Running back Doug Martin more than two hundred and thirty yards rushing against this Eagles defense. Mark Sanchez, in his first start in place of Sam Bradford, two touchdown passes but three interceptions, one return for a touchdown to mark Tampa Bay's final points.

It was a complete and utter fallout for the Eagles, who were dominated in every phase of the game. It was frankly an embarrassed performance by the Eagles, particularly the defense that offered very little resistance to Winston, to the passing game, and to anytime Doug Martin had the football. Chip. Kelly's got a lot of questions to answer a short week ahead for the Eagles, who play against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day. The Eagles at four and six

in search of some major answers. Here this football team, just two weeks ago, coming off a huge win against the Dallas Cowboys, an overtime thriller. After two home games, the Eagles two more losses and many more questions. All right, thank you very much, Dave. Again, we'll hear from the head coach in just a few moments. I'm gonna go back to the defensive side of the football for a second. Here.

We've talked about how they were unable to generate any turnovers, and there are a couple of plays that stick out to me. Malcolm Jenkins for the second week in a row. You know, Malcolm Jenkins made a great play, you know, covering the tide in there. You just wish you could pull that pass in. You know, it goes down as the past break up, but that's one it's you're saying, oh, we need you to catch that one because he's gone for a touchdown. If he catches Dad, I mean it's

a pick sixty other way. And then Connor Barwin's play. You know, he had two consecutive batdowns that second one. I mean it's tough though he's about five yards away from you. I mean that's a hard throat. But again, when you're looking for something to help you flip the momentum and sort of get things going in your favor, those are the plays that you want to come up with. Yeah, so no question about that. Easy plays, they are not easy.

You need it. But when you need something to turn things around, when you need a playmakers, I mean that's a difference. Yeah, you know you talk about the whole going from good to great. That's the type of stuff that you look at. Who's a guy that you're going to look to at a key moment to get you that big play to really be able to shift the momentum back in your favor. Was also surprised schematically at the free releases we saw off the line for the receiver.

We're gonna get into more than announcing a little bit. But first, head coach Chip Kelly from the link. I don't think anybody played well today. I don't think we're talking about the least. We just we didn't. We didn't play well as a football team and in any facet of the game. And there's no excuse for that. Why not. They don't know exactly why not, but I know we didn't make plays, and we had to make plays. I

think we extended drives on defense. Um, we let them convert too many thirtain longs obviously, UM didn't do I mean, it's the first time we've really had the ball run on us like that, and that's uh, it was certainly kind of an uncharacteristic thing at these for this defense. We've always kind of pride ourselves and stop in the run and didn't do that today. We think he had two two on thirty five yards. You know, just that's just not eagle defense on not what we're going to

do to be successful. And then they can run the ball like that obviously, then Jamis did a really good job and the play action passes off. But but we we didn't stop them all day long. Now I don't. I don't know if it's the scheme or whatever it is. I mean, you got to look at the film to determine that where we are. I think there's times where we had opportunities on the defensive side of the ball to make plays, um, and we didn't make them. You know, we had some guys wrapped up. I think that we

didn't tackle as well as we know him tackle. Um. We looked like we had some interceptions or opportunity for intercepts as they hit us in a hands we didn't catch it, you know, turnovers that could have created her stend to tide. And then um, you know, the penalty part of it, just to extend those drives defensively, I think really really hurt us. You know, we got an opportunity to get him off the field, but then we you know, we get a penalty that extends a drive.

I think those are the things that are you know, you got to clean up if you're ever going to have an opportunity to win a football game. I could employ comparatiste. I don't have an explanation for it, but I know we weren't. We weren't ready to play on defense, and uh, we gotta get that straightened out because we got a short week this week and we get ready to play on Thursday at twelve thirty. So that's an altercation between Mark Sanchez and Darren Scrolls after the third interception.

Do you know what happened? And you think no, I just think they were communicating on where where where the guy was supposed to be, where Mark was putting the ball, and where Darren thought he was supposed to be. So obviously, peep, everybody's frustrated with the performance today. So communication began before Mark Sanchez left the field. He seemed to show up a better and you think that's pro. I don't know

specifically what you're talking about. I know those guys are yelling at each other little bit and we stopped it. How did you feel about the way offense sporadic? You know? The opening drive I think you know, overcome the fumble, then recovered fumble, you know, and then to drive down the field and score um was good. Then we had another good drive in there that ended up with a touchdown to give us fourteen points. But just just up and down, you know, we really needed to get points

at the end of the first half. There, you know, we had the ball at the end of the first half, give ourselves an opportunity to at least get something there. We're close in field goal range, but um we had an interception and obviously didn't get them there. But I thought it was just sporadic but not good enough, especially with how we played on the defensive side of the ball. Offense didn't do anything to build them out of it. So you're concerned about the type of damaging back the

law you have one, Well, we'll find out. I mean, you guys all want to we all want to write a narrative of how does this game affect that game? I mean, we beat Dallas and that was the we're gonna We're gonna win the rest of our games. It doesn't work that way, you know, And it never works that way, you know. So we got to come back to work tomorrow more and get ready to play a game on Thursday. So if if we allow this game to affect us on Thursday, then shame on us. You

have control of the team. I mean, this is yes, I do. It is a big spot. Every week is a big spot. That week gott to emphasize that every single week, there's not a week that isn't a big spot. Every single week in this league is a big week. So what's that? Because I have confidence in those guys in that room. Do you have confidence and you have the talent to yes? I do, I really do. The interceptions weren't for today him or you know how Yeah,

a lot of zone drops by them. I think, uh, you know, you go through the specific ones him and I think Darren run the wrong page. I'm not sure. Um, he thought Darren was moving out farther on the screen on the one that he threw in the last one there, Um, you know, the one at the end of the first half. It was a zone they were squeezing a tight end.

We probably should have gone outside with it. Um. And I can't remember which way the other what the third one was, so SI, I just said that that was a screen pass where I think they'ren was slowing down and he thought he was going a little bit farther. As little miscommun case in terms of where he was going to be. For your first two years, you had offenses that you got into a shootout and you could win those games, and you put up a lot of yards with a lot of points. Do you feel like

you still have a team that can do that? If you're in it looked like it was going to be a shootout early, don't only ended up being a one side of shoot You still feel like you have a team that can wait to shootout? Yeah, I mean I don't. We don't want to win any shootouts. We want to play really well in all three phases of the game so that it doesn't turn into a shootout. And I

have confidence in our defense. You know, this is again that's one of the first times I've seen, you know, people someone run the ball like that on our defense. It that's kind of an uncharacteristic thing that that we need to get fixed. M But do I think are we have the people that'll be productive on the offensive side of the ball, Yes, I do. The run game was probably against Carolina though too. What's up? I mean, they run Carolina Randall, they run the ball like this.

You know, I think, you know this is this isn't what, you know, what what we expected or from our defense. And I don't think anybody on our defense will say the same thing. That's not what we expected. So why do you think there's the mistakes now are different and they continue. Well, why do you think that happens? I mean, that's just how the game expressed itself. So you get

address each one as you see it. You know, we'll get to the film and get get it broken down with the guys and when we get meet with them tomorrow morning, we need to fix that because you can't make mistakes like that against a team that's running the ball like that and throwing the ball like that and expect to be successful. You know, if you if you get an opportunity to make a stop, you got to make a stop. You can't you can't aid them in terms of keeping them on the field by doing those things.

So well, there's something like this, just get him out, and we just took him out, so you know, we knew where we were in a score of the game, and so he hadn't practiced a tunder in the week, so um, you know, I felt like again, we got another game on Thursday, so um, you know, let's see where we can get see see what his status is after the game, and we'll come back tomorrow morning and see where he is in terms of being able to play. You know, we do have a quick turnaround in terms

of playing another game here on on Thursday. So after something like this, are you confident that you're emphasizing the right things. Yes, I am, Sam getting closer. I don't know why I have no status update on Sam. Too many men on the field. Yeah, we were in Dime defense and one of the linebackers didn't come out, should have come out, and Dime didn't see the signal from a personnel coming in from the sideline. But we had two linebackers on the field and Dime we're only supposed

to have one linebacker on the field and Dime. Well you consider like lineup changes like on defense, especially going into the striking here. We haven't talked to anything about that, so you know, we'll go back, we'll watch tape. We got a long night tonight. We got to put a whole game plan in and can get ready to play. What's I tell those guys a bit of a short memory because we'll be back tomorrow morning to day o'clock.

We have a game we have to train tomorrow. One on the field tomorrow, which we're normally not on the field on Monday. Mondays a day off for us, but we're got to be on the field tomorrow Tuesdays forty eight hours before the game. We're traveling on Wednesday and we're going to play on Thursday. So you know, we all take ownership, we all take responsibility, and every single person in that room contributed to that loss and contributed to the outcome of that football game. Go get some

sleep and turn around and we'll see you guys tomorrow morning. Eight. As talented as your front seven is, how can something like this happen to underge eighty three rushing yards? Yes? What you know? What is going on that these guys can't get off the blocked? It was a combination of things. I don't think we tackled well as a group. Um. I think the penalties hurt us as a group. And I'd have to see where our fits were in terms

of um. You know, when you when you start to pile up the tight ends and get some mixture guys in there, you'd better make sure that you're fitted up the right way and understand where the ball is going to be, where the ball should be run too. Because of how we're playing defensively, do you think something, guys? Now, I don't Jakins, I saw it when it was in a state of team you guys started the guys, I think I don't lose a focus that I don't. I mean they may have lost focused, but I would never

use work quit. I would. Is there any temptation at this point that maybe to see what that Lewis can do out there? No? I mean we just the first game mark where they played for us. You know, he came in at the tail end of the uh the game last week against Miami. But I that that thought did not cross my mind. Now, all right, there's head coach Chip Kelly addressing them, idiot following the eagles forty

five to seventeen loss to Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We're gonna hear from quarterback Mark Sanchez in just a little bit. But ike, from a defensive standpoint, when you see those big runs that Martin had up the middle on his way to a two hundred and thirty five yard rushing performance, what are the things that jump out of you in terms of what went wrong? Oh, somebody's not in the proper gaps. I mean for every run play that's out there,

there's a gap responsibility for each and every player. And when you have a play like that, either someone's not in the proper gap or someone has been whooped by the offensive player, meaning they're being blocked and they can't get off their block. You look at both of those runs from Doug Martin. Somebody was there, they just couldn't either make the block, or he's running through a hole that's big enough to drive a mack truck through, which

means Tampa is winning at the line of scrimmage. But like I said, for every run play that you have, there is a gap responsibility. For every defense, it's a matter of getting to your gap responsibility or making sure that you aren't defeated by the offensive player that's blocking you. Oh unreal? Is it? To see the way the run defense has kind of come apart in the last couple of weeks. I really am. For two straight years this has been one of the better run defenses in all

of the National Football League. And I know they've had injuries at the inside linebacker position and there's a lot of shuffling going on that and that's what I think. Maybe part of the issue here is that you got so many guys, or at least you got three guys. Now was for a couple of weeks ago playing the inside linebacker position, and there have specialized packages where now teams are starting to recognize what personnel package you put

on the field versus their personnel package. And if you have a personnel package out there with your inside linebackers that aren't as a depth at stopping the run, now your opposing team is going to run the ball at you when those guys are out there. And I think ever since Jordan Hicks has gone out, I think our run defenses started to show a little bit of leakage. When Damiko Ryans was out of there was showing a little bit of leakage because those two guys are typically solid,

fundamentally run stoppers and they don't overrun plays. And I think when you bring in the other two guys who are more athletic, who likes to use their speed or what have you, sometimes they aren't taking on blocks the same way and some of those things. And I'm not putting this all on Kiko on Michael Kendricks, but sometimes you can create running lanes by not stuffing your man and putting him back in the hole. All Right, we're gonna hear from quarterback Mark Sanchez and just a little bit.

We're gonna take a quick commercial break here on the postgame show presented by Rico. We're also gonna get to your reaction just a little bit, so stay tuned. More coming right after this break. One of the players who came into the lame today for the Buccaneers who didn't really do a ton of the statue you just score a touchdown receiving, but I think had a major impact was wide receiver Vincent Jackson, the crafty veteran, because coming into this game during the week, you figure you had Mike Evans out there six foot five, you knew you had to contend with him. Jackson been sidelined with a knee and jury, didn't seem like he

was gonna play, even though he returned to practice this week. Well, he was active for the game, and certainly with someone who was able to draw attention away from the coverage on Evans and also from jamming up the box to be able to sup Martin. Now you hit a right on the hit. I mean, having Vincent Jackson back in the lineup for this Bucks offense and having to be such a late sort of a late call that make

him active today. I think it's certainly altered a little bit of your defensive plan because if Jackson's not out there now you can focus on double team and Mike Evans and then maybe committing the extra guy to the box to stop the run. But you put a guy like Vincent Jackson out there who's a multi pro bowler, and you know you got to pay attention to him as well. He's just as good as the other guy. And what that ultimately does is it takes one guy

out of the box to stop that run. And I think that's what you saw today is the effect of having Vincent Jackson out throwing the field. It opened up that running game for the Tampa Bay offense. And then you look at the performance by quarterback Jameis Winston coming to this game again, you figure he was a guy who was with stand tall in the pocket and you've done a great job breaking on tape during the week of what he's done on the field to this point.

You know, you're ten touchdowns, nine interceptions coming into the game, four touchdowns on the ground. But for him, it had five touchdowns against a veteran defensive unit by a coordinering Bill Davis, who has done a great job game playing, a great job creating blitz schemes and pressures and finding unique ways to get after the quarterback, generating free rushers. It was a surprise that they weren't able to do

more of that here today. Well you look at Winston, man and he I mean today he showed you why he was the number one overall draft pick in this past year's draft. He made he can make every throw. You know, watching him from the stadium over there. Getting to watch him from up top, I was very impressed. He's throwing the ball from the opposite Hashmart deep twenty

yard outs. I mean, that's a big league arm and I think had Jackson not been in there, than Billy Davis could be a little more aggressive on trying to

force Jamis Winston into mistakes. The problem is is that when you blitz people or you bring extra guys, you're better be sound in your coverage on the back end because everybody on the back end is man to man and you're talking about two receivers that are six four to six five two hundred and twenty five pounds basically, and they're gonna win most of these one on one

jump ball battles. And that's really what Tampa is looking for. So, I mean, we really didn't get the opportunity to do to Jamis Winston what we wanted to, just because he had so many of his weapons at his disposal and you needed to get more pressure on him. Oh, let's see exactly what Winston was able to do to Eagles defense and welcome an NFL Film senior producer Greg Cosell to break down the all twenty two. I want to show you the touchdown that made it Bucks thirty five

Eagles fourteen. It was actually a really well designed concept by Tampa because what they were trying to get done was get Cameron Breake the tight end. He's in the inside slot on the three receiver side in this three by one set. They're trying to get him matched up one on one on Kiko Alonso. That's the design of the play because what they're doing up top here's Mike Evans, is they're going to bracket Evans. So the safety here he's gonna come down and bracket Evans. Malcolm Jenkins right here,

he's gonna step down inside. So clear the screen and go back to the three by one, go back to Cameron brad right here. This is the matchup we're looking at Bright on Alonso. So let's clear it and we're gonna run the play and it's one on one and you're going to see very simple. This is where you throw a contested ball. Bright makes the catch against Alonso. That's the matchup the Bucks we're looking for. On the play, they got it. Touchdown, Tampa. Thank you very much. Greg.

It's a shame because you like Kiko Alonso in that situation. Now. Of course, Alonsos bottled the knee injury and he's been kind of hampered by that throughout the course of the season. So we still rounding into form. But typically that's one that you would like the Eagles to seat on the field. We're gonna take a quick commercial break. As we wait to hear from quarterback Mark Sanchez, let's take a deeper look at what happened on the offensive side of the football, and like, is it just a situation where the game got out of hand? There was too big a defensit to overcome And even if the Eagles offense, hey had its moments early in the game, were just not able to sustain what the Bucks were able to do offensively. Yeah, I think that's what a

lot of it boiled down to. You know, the Eagles had their struggles offensively a little bit earlier, but had the defense sort of held up a center the bargain, it could have given this offense a little time to get going, which obviously Mark Sanchez needed. It was his first start this season, so you can't understand the offense getting off to a little bit of a slow start, and you're without Ryan Matthews, that change up back that's been so complimentary to Darren Sprows and DeMarco Murray. You

wanted to not having him in there to day. Also Hurst the offense just a little bit. But I thought Sanchez, at least early on, was okay, you love me down. But like I said, once the game gets out of hand, you get down about fourteen, you get down by twenty one. Now you become one dimensional and it's tough to really keep the Bucks on their heels. This was a great throw to Josh Huff, great run after the catch from Josh Huff. I thought the screen game was a big

time part of the game. Playing today, a couple misreads by he and Darren Sproles trying to figure out where to put the ball at. But I thought for the most part, you know, Mark Sanchez kept the ball out of harm's way until it got late in that game, and you could tell that we were going to throw the ball on just about every down. So now Tampa is sitting back playing coverage, waiting on any type of an errand throw. I also like the mobility you saw

from him. Yeah, the fourteen yards scramble early in the game, and that's what he brings to the table, and you figured that's what the Eagles would want to build around the fact that obviously you didn't have Ryan Matthews, but you did have Demarca Murray. But you also had the added presence of someone who the Bucks had to account for out of the backfield from the quarterback position, which is unlike the case when Sam Bradford is in at quarterback.

So that's something that I figured the Eagles would try to use to their advantage. They did a little bit of it early on in the game, but unfortunately, again the game just got out of hand. The Bucks score twenty one consecutive points after a seven seven tie at the end of the first quarter, twenty eight to seven, twenty eight to fourteen after the break, and then after that long, nearly ten minute long drive to start the third quarter, they kept showing the sideline where it's all

the offensive players. Oh, speak of offense. Let's go back to the link where quarterback Mark Sanchez is speaking. Now, let's see, Well, we moved the ball in spurts pretty well. I just think, you know, they made some pretty good plays on defense. They had us, they had a good plan for us, and just some plays we've got to execute a little better across the board. So we'll take a look at it. And we got a quick turnaround, so there's uh, you know, no time to dwell on it.

What happened the interception? Yeah, I probably could have held it a second longer to get one into arts there or sell it rather. And um, you know, I think fifty four just squeezed it. So I gotta get somewhere else with the ball, and especially in field goal range like that. Yeah, we uh, I mean we got that

cleared up real quick. Um. You know, we both our competitors, we're both trying to win, and um, you know, emotions kind of get going in a in a loss like that, and so you know it's not really sprowls as fall. We gotta get that man and man guy on a screen like that and versus man, we gotta uh get that guy blocked, and I'm trying to get it over a D lineman to Sprowls, and it looks like he's on the run, so I'm trying to lead him on the run and let him just you know, squired out

the backside there. Um, and so he stopped. So I had already let the ball go, and when he stopped, that's why I was upset. But then look him back at the replay and see why he stopped, and so, um, they just fifty four made a pretty good play, and um, you know we we had run that play a couple of times. So it's it's too bad it ended up like that, but we're all good. We talked about it, and um, he's a heck of a player and he's trying to make a play just like I am and

just didn't work out. You were better than in this league, yep. And it seemed like the discussion between YouTube passion before it even got into the sideline, you regret how you handled that moment. No. I mean, look, we're in the middle of a game where getting beat pretty good, and you know, I'm pissed that he stopped and he's mad that I didn't throw it right to him, and there's

nothing wrong with that. And so the mature part is that we talked about it again if we would have left it there, and just all right, you screwed up, No, you screwed up, and then move on. Well, now we don't get to the bottom of it. But spros he's a total pro and a great player. And I know, you know, as mad as I was, I need to hear his opinion, and he wanted to hear what I had to say. And then you get you move on.

And they just made a good play. Offense seemed to run very well under you even through the first time until hit did it. Their offense sort of taking the whole minum to the third quarter to death for you guys, off I don't know. I mean, we can't worry about what the other two phases of of the team are doing, you know, just like the defense can't worry about if we score fifty points or you know, ten points. They're they're just trying to get the ball back to us,

and then it's hard to have to score. Well, we can't worry about the other team's offense. We just have to take every possession, you know, for what it's worth and make the most of it. And unfortunately we didn't get a chance to do that. Like you feel like the offense serves as much play as defense. A lot of people are going to point to all the ards given up, but you feel like, you guys let this team down as much as oh, look where there's uh you know, we're not pointing any fingers at any side

of the ball at all. That's not what we do around here. We all look at ourselves and I can speak for our own unit and for myself, and we didn't do enough to win the game on the offensive side of the ball. But just that's it. That's that's the way it goes, and that's the way we think of it as an offense. You know, the defense is going to have their own opinions on what they need to get better, and we all go back and take a look in the mirror to take a look at

this film. And then, like I said, we got a quick turnaround, so um, there's no time to dwell on it and no time to point fingers. We don't do that. You are you are what your record, he says. You know, Yeah, this is four and sixteen. Yeah, it's this I'm a low average teams. Well, I don't know. I mean, we'll we'll figure it out at the end of the year. We still got some football to play, so, um, you know those big picture of questions and we'll stay away

from those until until the end of the year. You guys can can worry about that gain. Oh, I have no idea. I just want to you know, improve upon things that went wrong in this game and um, you know, play the very best I can if I get another shot, a challenge an album, got a short turnaround to get pass this one of the joint at the couple that will be both in terms of incorporation for the Droit

and trying to get this game. Oh, I mean you just, uh you have to be a pro and bring the young guys along, um, guys who haven't been in this situation before. That we're gonna get a chance to play on Thanksgiving, which is gonna be great. You know you at uh your family back home watching and we'll get a you know, like a minting bye week after that to get guys healthy and um, you know, this could

be the start of something good. So we just need to uh to improve upon some of the things that didn't go right today and um, you know, get some things fixed. But we have we have plenty of talent to do it. I know, we have a great coaching staff. We have uh, we have the firepower. So we'll we'll figure it out, get a fixed and try and get a win on Thursday. The wordable was the issue. Uh just you know, poor execution on third down across the board, Uh,

from the quarterback spot to you know everybody. We all just got to get better and um, sustained some drives. Is there any constellations as you guys? Oh, all that's like that too. It's it's a big picture deal. We just got to stay within the week we're playing and unfortunately today it didn't go right. But we get another chance on Thursday, and uh, you know, we can't worry about all those what other teams are doing. We just

gotta keep playing and keep improving. And I know that's not what you want to hear, sorry, but that's really our mindset. We don't we don't worry about anything on the outside. Thanks guys. All right, there's quarterback Mark Sanchez following the Eagles forty five to seventeen loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One thing to recap on that, like when it comes to the wide receiver position, Sanchez and Jordan Matthews had tremendous chemistry a year ago.

Early in the game, Matthews was flex outside. They utilize him as an outside receiver, obviously trying to get more production after what happened last week against the Miami Dolphins. What did you think of that move and do you think maybe that doesn't take advantage of Sanchez's talents in terms of being able to hit down the field, especially in the middle, and that's where he likes to throw the ball. You know, Sanchez throughout his career has always been a guy who likes to throw the ball down

to hash marks in between the numbers. I think moving Jordan around, I think it is also a way to try to free him up from someone the coverages the defenses have started doing. He's been too easy to find in the offense and so moving him around, I think it is going to be beneficial. Again, it's Mark's first week is starting. Don't expect him to be clicking as if they've been playing eight nine weeks in a row like we started to see him do late last year.

Just hopefully things get better chemistry wise for them come Thursday. But I do think it's very beneficial to move Jordan Matthews around because I just think he's just too easy to defend if he's going to be in the slot all the time. So moving him around a little bit, I think it will be beneficial for him as he moves forward. All right, So you've heard from the head coach, You've heard from the quarterback, You've heard from us. Now

we want to hear from you. The phone number is two and five three three nine six seven zero nine. Welcome back to the postgame show presented by Rico here in Philadelphia Eagles dot com. It's time for a little bit more all twenty two analysis we showed you some of what happened on the defensive the football. Now let's

look at the offense. Let's bring in Great Cosell to analyze Josh Huff's touchdown as well as Darren Sprowls's touchdowns from the first half of today's loss against the Buccaneers. I want to show you the two touchdowns by the Eagles in the first half. They were both pass plays and they came on basic concepts that we see throughout the NFL. The first touchdown was to Josh Huff. Josh Huff is up here, split outside the numbers. Now he's

going to run a slant route. Now, the combination route that goes with this is the flat route by zach Ertz. He's going to run to the flat. Now, what you're going to get here. It's against man free coverage. So the underneath defender who's playing zach Ertz will run with him, opening up the passing lane to Josh Huff. Let's clear the screen and we'll see how this works. Very basic concept. Urts into the flat, the slant right behind it, catches

it in the open space. It was man to man coverage, and now Josh Huff becomes a sense The Great punt returner that he's been throughout his career, and he runs for a touchdown. Well executed, basic concept. Now the second play for a touchdown that was also a really basic play, but really well executed. It's going to be a screen to Darren Sprowles. Who's a line here. Now, Sprowles is going to cross the formation over here. But the key thing here again, the Bucks are playing man coverage man

free coverage. The linebacker Kwan Alexander. He has Sprowls man to man. Now, when you run a screen, particularly crossing the formation, what you have to do is get the player covering the screen receiver blocked. So let's clear the screen and we'll see how that gets done. It's going to be Jason Kelsey, who's going to block Alexander right here, there's the block. Here's Sprowls right here, and now there's no one. This is all empty space right here, there's

no one else. You just have the deep safety and then you have a wide receiver here who's going to block. So you have a lot of space. You get that player covering the screen, receiver block, you get a beautifully designed screen with a lot of open space. Sprowles goes for the touchdown. Two touchdowns, two really basic, well executed pass game concepts. All right, thank you very much. Greg. Now it's time to go to the phone lines. Let's welcome in Peter from Oakland to the postgame show presented

by Rico. Welcome Peter there. And he is not there. So as we start to look forward again, if you want to jump in two and five, three, three, nine, six seven zero nine is the cell phone number? Is it a good thing? And I guess it's the only way you could take it to the fact that the next game is on Thursday against the Detroit Lions, that they're going to be in at eight am tomorrow morning, as Chef Kelly said, to finally just put this to bed and move on to get ready for the lines. Yeah,

no doubt about it. From a and coaches standpoint, they want to get this this game out of their mouth, out of their minds as quickly as possible. The benefit of plan on Thursday night in such a short week, you don't have time to sit back and and and

you know, worry about what you did today. I mean, really, once you watch the film to night, you got to move on to the Lions for Thursday because the last thing you want is for this loss to having lingering effect into Thursday's game, and it already seems as if the Dolphin loss sort of lingered into this game. You don't want a three game losing streak with ten games with ten days that have to sit on it getting

prepared for that new England game. So um, they're going to get back to the drawing board tomorrow, get this loss out of their mouth, and move on to that Hawaii Blue as fast as possible. All Right, We're gonna go back to the phone line and welcome in Rashim to the post game show presented by Rico. Welcome to the show. Hey, what's up? What's up? Man? I just this is saying I really don't want it, saying exactly how you could come out so flat you enthusiasm, Um,

you seem like anytime it was a problem. I didn't see Tim Kelly mad at all through the connities or the or the lack of production for certain players in and as I you know, as I keep hearing a far like the wide receivers, Um, you gotta look very

way to throw them the ball. Each each remark chances was making was in the middle of the tild I rather him throw in the ships at least trying to give the wid receivers chance and they could play on the ball when you're not giving nobody's chances like they just running out there again tired for no apparent reason. It's just it's just really disgrace and it's crazy how we had to sit here and just watch bad football being played every week and not nothing. Shamid shame great

phone call. And I think that's the biggest thing is I feel horrible for the fans at this point, because no question, and you're going, you're going to the time of years, the holiday week, you know, the time when the real football teams, wal good football teams start to emerge and separate themselves from the pack, and you want to say, look, we belong in that conversation. We should be one of those good teams. Hey. The fans were

out there in full force once again. They could have obviously, you know, had their hesitations after the disappointed loss to the Dolphins, and Chip Kelly said it during a week you cannot allow the Miami Dolphins to beat you twice. I don't think that so much was the case, but I just don't have an answer, And I think that's the biggest thing is this team is so confusing at this point. You certainly understand that there's talent on the field,

but why is it not coming together? You figure, Okay, maybe you're gonna have some early season struggles because there are some new faces in place. There are some new players who have to get acclimated to the systems and whatnot, get used to one another. Well, I mean, there's it's ten games. We're ten games in at this point, so certainly, you know, you look at the other sideline, You look at Jameis Winston. He's basically not rookie anymore at this point.

You saw the performance that he had today. You're not seeing the guys on this side of the field, the midnight green guys stepping up and making those big time plays. Yeah, something's not right here, and I wish it was sort of one thing that you can put your finger on, because you could fix it. But there are several things. And now we've gotten to the point, at least this week, the defense didn't really show up and play Eagles type defense that they've been playing, at least in the run

game for the last two or three years. Under this Chip Kelly regime. And Chip mentioned this last week as well after that loss of the Miami Dolphins. But it's been sort of a rear current theme doing all of the losses this year, that it isn't just one thing.

You know, sometimes it's dropped past it. Sometimes it's you know, killing yourself on first down by getting in a penalty situation, and actually you know it's first and fifteen or first and twenty, getting third and long situations, you know, penalties on third down, things of that nature. It's been such a such a melting pot of different things all year long. It's really hard to sort of hone in on and fix it. Because if it was just one thing, you could fix that, you know, you could look at it,

correct it and move on from it. But it's been something different each of every week, a different phase of the game. And it's really unfortunate because a lot of high hopes for this team coming in and sitting at four and six right now, it just does not feel good, no, not whatsoever. And go into this game, you said, Okay, maybe it's gonna be a tough battle. Tampa Bay is

feeling good. They're young and hungry, they're fighting. They got to four and five, but you figured the Eagles should find a way to win this game, and it looked like Tampa Bay was the more veteran team. On this afternoon, we're going back to the phone lines. Were Welcome in Kenny from New York. Kenny, Welcome to the Postgame Show Pre's anybody Ricoh? Hello, Kenny, You're on the post game Show forres Anybody Rico with Chris McPherson and Ike. Chris Welcome. Yeah,

we're going on. Chris is going on. Ike Man, good hear from it? Um yeah, man, yeah a long time. I ain't. I ain't tolking y'all. Man, this is disappointed that Ike and Chris. Man. I'm telling you, man, this is this is horrible. Man. As an Eagle fan, and even when we had bad time with Andy reid Man, I could never turn the channel. Man. This is this is this is horrible. Man. Like you know, I'm thinking, you know, deep, it's gonna be up in your face.

I mean, we're given them free releases off the line. I mean it just it just looked terrible. When I'm tired of head and chips say the same thing over and over by execution, we like, I don't want to hear that no more. Man's just like, I feel like, you know, he destroyed our team by letting God Macklin and and and the trade for Chico Lonzo to for one of the best running backs in Eagles history. I mean, like, come on, this, it was this is this. I feel

like the move was a total disaster. And I'm sorry to sound like this as an ego fan, but man, this is this is crazy And I just want to hear your opinion on I know you can't really talk about I just want to hear your opinion this on these on these all season moves. Man, it's just crazy crazy, Um, I don't know, man, Kenny, and see, you know, when you get to this point, that's that's what you're gonna start hearing more of. You gonna hear frustration from fans.

You're gonna hear frustration from fans and uh, when moves that you anticipate working for the bet amount of the team don't turn out that way. Now we're all going to look back and have sort of revisionist history of buyer's remorse. And that's just where fans are with the frustration level. And when when they don't see the results happen the way they want them to happen on the field. People aren't going to like the things you did to sort of improve the team unless you improve the team exactly.

So Kay, thank you very much for the phone call. Like, going to this week, You're gonna learn a lot about this football team. They're four and six. You know, we say every week they have to win this game. They're backstort to the wall at this point. And I'm not even going to look at anything big picture beyond Thursday. I want to see how does this team respond to Thursday Thanksgiving Against the Detroit Lions a year Agoing Thanksgiving a tremendous time to being an Eagles fan. The Eagles

routed the Dallas Cowboys. Mark Sanchez had a phenomenal performance. The defense dominated. You're hoping to see that again. But Detroit they're red hot, all of a sudden winners a back to back games. They beat the Packers last week and they eat out a win today over the Oakland Raiders. So they're at three and seven. I believe going into this Thursday's matchup, Yeah, this could be a dangerous game

for this Eagles team. And I hope the players realize this you just just mentioned about, you know, to see what type of character they have coming off of a tough loss like this. Well, this is a pride game in my opinion. You know, you've coming off two straight home games where you left the stadium feeling embarrassed, a shame to yourself, not looking like an Eagles typical team. And Thursday's game is about pride. It's a gut chat game.

You know, what do you have? Forget about playoff ramifications, forget about winning the nfcas think about the last two times you've been in between the white lines in the National Football League and the type of performance that you put out. You don't want to go out there Thursday and lay down to a hapless Detroit Lions team. This game Thursday is about the pride of the players on this team, whether or not they feel like they have anything to step on the field and play for. And

forget about the wins and the losses. It's about playing for your pride and the fact that it's a privilege to be in this league and it's not a right to be in this league. And if these players don't understand this by now, you lose three in a row, some of you may not have a locker in the Novercare Complex when you come back. That's what type of game this is Thursday. Certainly, not just to play in the NFL, to play in this city, in front of this city, that's the thing, because they want to see

you play with passion. They want to see you put your you know, your hard hat on and go out there a week in, a week out. Certainly you're not going to always have the best performances, but at least show the fight, at least show that you're giving some effort out there on the field. So Tomorrow, on Monday, head coach Chip Kelly well this day after press conference. That time is yet to be determined. Make sure you're stay tuned for Philadelphi Eagles dot com throughout the evening

for the least updates on that. Brian Westbrook will co host Tomorrow's Eagles three to sixty with Dave Sper at five PM.
