Ladies and gentlemen, how about this finish the Eagles in overtime being a forty one yard touchdown from Jordan Matthews to walk out of Arlington, Texas with the much needed thirty three to twenty seven victory over the Dallas Cowboys to get to four and four on the season, the Eagles overcoming two penalties in overtime, but nonetheless Sam Braff to Jordan Matthews after Ryan Matthews convert a fourth and one to get the game winning points. Just add this
to another great chapter of the Eagles Cowboys history. I'm Chris McPherson joined alongside by Ike reas here on the postgame show presented by Rico. Wow. What a game there. As the Eagles persevered in overtime, they allowed the Cowboys to tie the game off a field goal that joined
off the upright and went through just barely. But they got the ball first and overtime, Ike, and they took care of business, marching down the field eighty yards and Jordan Matthews, to his credit, after all the criticism about the drops in the first half of the season, nothing fell on the ground that came his way tonight and he comes up with a big play, the one that this team needs to spark them in the second half of the season. I don't even know what they're saying.
I don't even know what just happening. That was such a great game on the role Muslin situation, back and forth games, lug fest for both teams. You could tell the desperation and both of these teams eyes as their seasons hand hung in the in the balance on this game tonight. And the Eagles go on the road and get a much need to win and they had the lead,
they lost the lead, they went the overtime, disappointment. Big plays on fourth down, Ryan Matthews converting the fourth, fourth and short and then Sam Bradford with the with the with the great throw over the middle to Jordan Matthews and Jordan Matthews, that's what I'm talking about. That's yeah yards after the catch. Great job Jordan Matthews getting in the end zone. Let's go home and get them back
to Philadelphia. So we're gonna go to Arlington, Texas. We're gonna hear from head coach Chip Kelly, We're gonna hear from quarterback Sam Bradford, and how about jamarco Murray. You talk about a man running with a purpose that Week two game, just two yards rushing. Well, it was a much different ball game today, and he had some key plays in overtime to get them in field position. Right here you see him going down the sideline on the
wheel route. That was during the game in the regulation, but when the Eagles had a false star penalty, it's
first and long. Who they give the ball to. It was DeMarco Murray who was able to get the yards back and help the team move the chain, so that touchdown in overtime would not have been possible without the effort that Murray made go in against its former team and certainly wanted to make his statement known as he finished with eighty three yards on eighteen carries four point six yards per carry, and he had a touchdown as
well in the game, no doubt about it. I mean, this game really was about DeMarco Murray and I talked about this coming and took this game. If you wanted to ride someone in this game, twenty nine would be the guy. He's the most highly motivated person on the team to go back to Texas play against his former team. Certainly didn't like his performance in that first game. I'm sure he held himself accountable for that, even though it
wasn't all his fault. But the fact is he was the guy coming into this game tonight that really was playing with a chip on his shoulder, and he showed it every time he touched the ball, not just running the football, catching the football as well. He ran with determination each time he had to pigskin in his hand.
All right, so much here to celebrate. On the postgame show presented by Rico, We're gonna get to your phone calls as well as we'll hear from head coach Chip Kelly, quarterback Sam Bradford, running back to Markamore, and a whole up more So, stay tuned. Learn more at santoin their bank dot com. We're actually celebrating quite more than that here on the postgame show presented by Rico. The Eagles winning in overtime thirty three to twenty seven. They are now back to five hundred on the season. And Ike, this game was so important
because obviously you knocked the Cowboys back. They now lost six straight games. They're two and six on the season. Their last win came back in Week two against the Eagles. It was important for the Eagles to get this game because they had to keep pace with the Giants who won and they still lead the NFC East with a
five and four mark. Now, you're absolutely right, Chris, This this game had so many ramifications coming from the results of the Eagles are basically stuck a nail in the coffin of the Dallas Cowboys with this win to night over them down their third straight win in Texas Stadium. I believe four out of the last five trips down
there the Texas Stadium, they beat the Cowboys. They beat the Cowboys, and so this was a win that was going to allow the Eagles to stay right behind the New York Giants, who won the day put them back at five hundred and in my opinion, this month, this was the game that they had to get. This was the toughest game to me. It's on the road in Dallas against the team that handled them pretty world early. Now the Eagles take care of business, come back and you got you gotta win at home and for your
next couple of games over Miami and Tampa. How crucial was it like to see the running game get going the way too, because we all wanted to see coming out of the bye week exactly how the Eagles offense would look. And I thought Chip Kelly and did a
great job of implementing the three headed monster. Obviously Murray was a focal point of the offense tonight, but you saw Ryan Matthews has a great change of pace back, did a great job getting to the edge, and then Darren Sprows, a very understated role in this football game was running the ball quickly in between the tackles, converted some first downs and gave the other guys a break,
but also converts some much needed yard. So all three running backs played a huge role in this game today, and that's the way it should be to me, that's the formula right now until the passing game can sort of get itself together. And it looked like Jordan Matthews certainly spent his time during the bye week working some things out in Sam Bradford again threw the ball very well coming off that game against Carolina a couple of weeks ago where I threw He threw the ball much
better than his numbers sort of indicated. So until this passing game sort of catches up the speed with each other, the chemistry, you got to rely on those three Pro Bowl running backs. You got Ryan Matthews to Marco Murray and Darren Sprows, three capable guys that can carry you to victory. And I thought they set the tone tonight. It was very clear to me early in this game the running the football was a priority. They ran an in between the tack was they ranted on the outside.
You gotta give a lot of credit to this offensive line. This is a makeshift offensive line. No Jason Peters to Night, Lane Johnson had to play on the left side, Dennis Kelly had to start at right tackle, and to run the ball. The best game of the season, I believe, so far for the Eagles without having their starters in there. Man hats all to the offensive line to Night. I thought they kept Sam clean for the most part. But it was the running game, in my opinion, that set
the tone for this game. The physical nature of running the football, I definitely agree with that. To Sam Bradford's credit, you go to that final touchdown there, he did a great job of ball placement. You know, it's not just getting the ball to his man to Jordan Matthews, it's put into a place where you can catch the ball and continue in stride. Because this offense is all about generating the yards after the catch. So it's incumbent upon
Bradford to be accurate with the football. And that's one of the things that we heard a lot about Bradford coming into this season. It was his pinpoint accuracy. Well it was on display on that touchdown and that's the type of play where maybe ill spar something and get him going for the second half of the season. And I would also say he did a great job of
throwing with the bodies around him. You knew the offensive line was gonna have a tansfall with the Dallas defensive line, so Bradford was gonna have to work from the pocket, but at times a muddy pocket, and they thought he did a great job on that standpoint as well. So I think Bradford has looked so much more comfortable in the last couple of weeks, but it was good to see him carry over the momentum from pre buy into
what he did here tonight. What's been the consistent theme at this offense the last three or four weeks, It's been the running game. The running game is what sets up the play action pass in this solfense. The misdirection allows Bradford to get on the edges at times, and when you run the ball as well as the Eagles did, guests who's gonna be wide open over the middle, Jordan Matthews. And that's what you saw there right off the play
action fake. Sam Bradford was able to step into that throw deliver a good pass to Jordan Matthews where he can run after the catch. And that's what the running game does in this so offense. Chip is this offense is designed and predicated on running the football extremely well. It's going to set up the passing game. When you look at the offense the last two years, the running game has been there. The quarterbacks have fed off of that.
So it's no surprise to me that Sam Bradford the last two games it looked very good throwing the ball. Even though the Carolina game his numbers didn't say so, the throws were there. He made the throws with pinpoint accuracy. And I think it starts when that defense has to honor the run game. It's going to set up the play action pass. Now. I also want to give court the Zach Ertz. You go to that drive at the end of the game where they had to get the
field goal, they took the lead briefly. Ertz made a great grap along the sidelines. And Urt came into this game saying during the week that he's one percent healthy from that pre preseason core muscle surgery. That kind of sidlined him, and you know it was a little hard for him to get going well tonight. Five catches for forty four yards, the long the one I was talking about a moment ago. Twenty seven yards. He was a
go to guy for Bradford Tony. I was able to bail them out some key situations, but every time the ball was around him, he seemed to come down with it. So he's a guy who is basically saying, I want the ball, Sam, you can trust me. They're developing a report and I think he and Matthews are gonna be integral to work in that middle of the field down here in the second half of the season to get the pass game going. As you said, the run game,
it's already on track. They've got that figured out. The Eagles have done a great job scheming the guys open and figuring out what works best in getting a good rotation going. Now it's a matter of getting the it's getting the pass game going. And speak of the pass game, let's hear what Chip Kelly thinks about the overtime win. Let's send it to AT and T Stadium in Arlington. He's in the first half we had we had the second time we were on the play. The other time
Jordan caught it and ran. The ball kind of bounced down to like the five, and then we scored the next player on a sweep after that, So it was. It was just the same same play call. We had called it once and we're successful on it, and I felt like if we got over midfield that I was gonna call it again. Arguing for Jordan Matthews, he's had so many jobs this year. He's been really hard on him from himself, especially after that Carol M. I'm extremely
happy for I'm like I'm happy for everybody though. I think it was a team victory and um, I got full confidence in Jordan. So you know, the great part about Jordan is he don't pay attention to it either, just like we talk about and he's been great. You know. I think if you have a work ethic like he has, your work ethic will help you get out of a slump. And he did a great job. What do you think of offense and fine? Uh, you know, I thought they did a good job. Obviously, when you're down, Jason and
we had a shuffle some guys over. Lane's first time playing on the left side, um, you know, Dennis Kelly and the first time to start for us since we've been here, Um out at tackle. You know, he had started for US at guard last year. But I thought those guys did a really nice job against a four horrible front. We knew that going in that was gonna be a heck of the matchup for US. Seem like a real up and down game, a lot of inconsistencies. Yeah, good football team. UM, we knew going in it was
gonna be a battle. You know. It was one of those deals where I don't think you could compare for prepare for everything. Um playing at Dome, we had a wind. It rained on us. Uh, some things that you didn't think would happen when you play in the Dome. But you know, Caleb that it was a little bit more difficult kicking that way. So that that kick he kicked for us, the fifty two or fifty three yard or into a little bit of a breeze, there was a
win down there a little bit so um. You know, then you see it at the end of the end of the game. Um, they go out for a field goal, it hits the upright. Usually when it hits the upright, it doesn't go in. You know, it hit the upright, came down in. Um. So it was just kind of one of those games. But UM, our guys battled. They battled right to the to the last and uh, proud of them. I think they had a great week. We talked about it. They had a really good week this week,
as good as we've had around here. Uh. And it showed in our play tonight that obviously last wee a little bit better than a week before. What do you see. I think Sam is continuing to improve. Um. I thought he was really accurate in his throws today. Um, you know, put the ball on guys in the right spot. You know, you look at the play with Jordan, it was a heck of a throw. He threw it before the guy fell down and then but it gave Jordan an opportunity
to catch and run. You know, sometimes those throws, if they're not accurate, it's a tough route to kind of time up. You know, you may catch it and you know, kind of turn around and you get a you got a good game, but you don't have a chance to have a great game. And what you know, So he gave Jordan an opportunity to run and get it in. So it's like you relied on Sam Moore. The longer the game, you gain more and more confidence. I've always had confidence in Sam. I just like it's how the
game played out. I thought we were pretty balanced in terms of being able to run the ball um and then once we kind of got moving, we had a lot of long dribes. There were a lot of long fields for us. We didn't start. I don't think we had any, you know, obviously, because they're so good in the return. I mean in the kick game, we didn't have any kick returns. We didn't have any punt return so there's there wasn't a real flip in the field.
And then the one turnover we had that we created, thank god, Jordan Hicks actually brought it all the way back for our square. So it wasn't like we got a turnover and had a short field or we had, um, you know, a return that gave us a short field. We had long fields to go um, So on all of our drives, we we had to kind of pound it out, and I think we were pretty balanced in terms of doing that. So the first time again, I
think we just executed and blocked up front. You know, I thought, I'll give our guys up front did a heck of a job and um, you know, that was the challenge for him going in. I thought they handled their their defensive front for the most part. You know, it's a very formidable front. They actually had some new guys that we didn't face the last time I face you know, Hardy for the first time, greg Uh Gregory
for the first time. UM. But it was you know, I really proud about how those guys played, especially with you know, Lane bumping over and Dennis getting his first started right tackle. So we're on the fourth down there, Did you think about not doing that a report all the way? No, I mean I thought we were gonna get it, so we were gonna go for it on the final Cowboys drive? What did you think of that
pass interference call? They made it? That's what I thought, Well, what was he was kind of right on his edge that way because there was a wind coming um that way. He probably had a little bit more going the other way, but he was really right on the edge of what we could kick. But we're stuck with him after early struggles. Can you talk about now he's the only kicker we have, so it wasn't like I was gonna bring another kicker in.
So for a team that has struggled before, the yether win like this after the bye going down the stretch here, what canna win? Like this do for this team. It's it's the same thing I told him, the same thing I told him after Carolina game. One down, one to go, and the same thing. That's the same message in there. One down, one to go. We're gonna get back. We're gonna get back late. They have tomorrow off when we come back Tuesday, and we got to really start a
good week of preparation for Miami. We actually, um, someone told me, I I don't know if it's true. We're gonna actually check where we actually where we may be able. We may have a game at one o'clock on a Sunday. So um, our guys are kind of excited about that. But you carry over into it, it means absolutely nothing because you lose next week and it didn't carry over. So we don't talk about that, like, hey, we had a good game last week, let's just ride the way
if we gotta come back. Got to work on Tuesday. So there's something about Sam you can only learn and in those those late game situations, over time situations. No, I mean, I I know Sam, and I got total confidence to Sam. I've always had total confidence in Sam. So I didn't learn anything new today about Sam. Was always something about Murray in the passing game that he
felt that take advantage of. We just some of the matchups for the linebackers, and after Sean Lee went out, you know, we thought we could exploit that and that's what we did. Did you see this as kind of game, man, I don't really concern. We're just trying to get wins each week and then we'll figure out. We'll pick our heads up and after that last game against the Giants to see if we're going enough games. But I've never had a conversation with our guys about East the NFC
out of division. I mean, if that's the case, then we shouldn't even show up this week because it's an AFC opponent. So we don't care, right, I Mean, that's not our mentality. Our mentality is every single week we got to go out and play and at the end, do we have enough wins that are good enough to get us into the playoffs, And if it is, it's okay. But we never talk about who the opponent is and how this game is more importantan that game. Every single
game is important when it comes down to it. So, first, Alfle, what was the thinking in terms of the Cloud management. They're trying to get out of their end. I know they had a couple of time out, so if we didn't get a first down there early, you know, all of a sudden, we're gonna turn the ball over and they have an opportunity to go down to score. And then they're getting the ball at the beginning of the second half too, so you've got you're in that two
score situation. I want to make sure we could at least get it out of our end and not be able to give it back over to him, because they do have a kicker that's you know, got ranged close to sixty so, um, you know anything in terms of turning the ball over, they just didn't want to make a mistake. We're content to go in a halftime at seven seven. Balance drive is okay, I have no idea less want balanced, you guys, there's most balanced we work tonight.
So that's all right. We're waiting to see if we're gonna get quarterbacks Sam Bradford or someone else. We're off the back here. We're gonna hear from Bradford to Marco Murray and wide receiver Jordan Matthews, who had the game winning forty one yard touchdown reception in overtime. But first we're gonna go to the phone lines. Let's welcome in Tim from Maryland. Tim, Welcome to the postgame Show, presented my Rico. Yeah, awesome. I thought definitely the offensive line
play really were fan played well. But I thought the real fat of the game was the fact that the Eagles didn't tend the ball over at all, and that was a little concerned infective with that offensive line game as new as it was playing together. So yeah, my thought was that, you know, running back to the great job and Tim just put the ball exactly where it needed to be most of the time. I thought he played lights out. No, Tim, thank you very much for
the phone call. No question, offensive line, all eyes were on them because Lane Johnson talked to him earlier in the season and he said, look, the offensive line, they were responsible for the criticism. They it was their fault that you know, you saw Demarka early in the season. He was getting tackle as soon as he got the ball in the backfield. They had to show up their protection. They had to do better communication when it came to
the double blocks, and they have improved in that. But the issue tonight was you have your all pro, you're a man, You're rock there and Jason Peters out well, Lynn Johnson and Dess Kelly looked like they stepped up to his task, especially in an offense that doesn't give them a lot of help when it comes to protection. Yeah, and not surprised at all that the job Lane Johnson was able to do. The Diaman The guy was the number four overall picking the draft, even though he plays
right tackle. You get drafted that early in the draft, eventually you're going to be playing left tackles. Just a matter of time before Jason Peters calls it quits and Lane Johnson moves over there. So but hats off to Dennis Kelly and the rest of the guys. They buckled down. I mean, they knew all lives would be on them this week, people with low expectations for them, and all we heard about was how are you going to block
Greg Hardy and this defensive line of the Dallas Cowboys. Well, I like the fact that this offensive line accepted the challenge and they went out there and I thought they held their own. I mean, listen, they got they got to Sam Bradford a time or two with pressure they got a penalty here or there, but for the most part, hey, listen, I thought they handled themselves very well out there night. The offensive line, Sam Bradford looked clean for the most
part tonight. Throwing the football, he seemed to have clean pockets throwing the bar, and then all three running backs able to be put on display to night. I mean, you can't do what the Eagles did the night amassing almost five hundred yards of offense over four hundred yards of offense tonight without having good line play. So it was important to also recognized as the fact that you don't see the running backs getting tackle in the backfield.
You see them be able to get to the line scrimmage, and probably most importantly, you look at some of the short yard situations. Go to the fourth down where DeMarco Murray punched the ball, and go to the fourth and one there and overtime and Ryan Matthews gets a conversion. These guys were making the short yards conversions, things that we did not see from this team earlier in the season.
So you know this is going to be a run based offensive attack, Well, it's got to be able to convert in those short yard situations and they're finally able to do so. And look, this is a good Cowboys defensive line. This is not some pushover. They had a live talent up front. And especially you look at the first meeting, there's no greg Hardy, Randy Gregory. Now Sean Lee.
He did exit the game with a concussion, So certainly that's something I think the Eagles were able to take advantage of because Lee was a monster back in that week to matchup. But still the Eagles were able to execute. I know it's that e ward that we're probably all tired of hearing the coaches say over and over again. But they realized the talent was there. It was just a matter of bringing it all together. So now here's Jordan Matthews, the man of the hour who had the
game winning touchdown. Let's end it back to Texas. How much is a game like this and doing what you did give you confidence that you know what always forgotten? Well? You know, I think anytime when things don't look like they're going well, it's so easy to sit back and think, Okay, I gotta change something, or you know, let me try and speech ever do this or do that. But you know, even if I'm hard on myself mentally, I'm staying in
the same place. I know if I go back and continue to work on things I need to work on that things are going to eventually get better. So even when things aren't going that well, I saw that same mindset. I gotta go to work, I gotta continue to be consistent, and I gotta continue to get better. So then when games like this happened, it's not like, oh, it's the greatest thing in the world. It's okay, I did my job. It's not like some a reckless thing happened. I did
what I was supposed to do today. I went out, I played hard. I may play for my team. That's what Daved needed for me this whole season. But at the same time, I'm not gonna go switch up anything. I'm not going to change anything. I'm not gonna start sleeping in or something. We're going to continue do the same thing over and over again. It's trying to get better the day. Feel gratifying to have that success after sticking with the plan. Like I said, you know, I'm
not gonna lie and say it doesn't feel good. At the same time, it feels better to get to win. You know, if you go out there and play well, but then your team doesn't come out victorious. Then was it mean? It means nothing but to be able to go out there and get a win and be an intricate part of it. I mean, we played great across the board, Ryan DeMarco, Sam, I mean Zach making plays down the sideline, and then to think we're able to do that without, you know, our anchor and Jason Peters,
that's a testament to the offensive line too. Defense played extremely well. I thought Matt Castle came out and had his best game of the season, you know, and our defense was able to hold them to a field goal and that laid drive and give us a chance in overtime. So I think it was a complete team effort. Um. Another big play I think was uh, you know EJ Biggers too, uh stopping that touchdown, you know, just getting some more time all the clock, keeping them on the
field instead of him just running in the kick return. So, like I said, from special teams, offense, defense, it was a full team effort. So I can't sit and just thing was all me experience or anything like that. Walk off Um Yeah, yeah, something a couple of times in high school and a Vanderbilt uh, a couple of games where you know, I had like a winning catch. So, like I said, it's kind of like my job. So I don't really like like it's a huge deal. I'm
supposed to do it. The happiest is this the happiest I've been in terms of what you've done in the game. I mean, it's a game winning touchdown, Like it's really not gonna it's really not gonna sink in. Like I said, I was even when I was in college, people would always be like, hey, you broke like this big record, like it didn't sink in uti I left, so hopefully twenty years down the road, I look back like, Okay, that was a good catch, but right now I got
to flipped the page and go back to work. You know. Um, you know, after I kind of was able to throw Byron through. I mean, he played a great game against me. We were battling the entire time. He's a real aggressive guy and really athletic m so I knew, you know, late in the game, if I was gonna get open
against him, it was gonna be more. I had to use my strength and a little bit of deception, so you know, teams have been covered me on those overs all like all year, and he did a great job with some of those overs too, So I just kind of gave him a move to the over and was able to throw him through and get outside. And then right when I caught it, I saw a daylight. I saw Huff actually look at me and be like, oh,
let me block my guy. And then once he not once he pulled the corner out, I said, I knew we were Scott free, so I know that chance to score after you crossed the goal line, you threw the football into the stands. Your emotions at that point, yeah, I was, I don't know. Right after I did it, I was wondering. I was like, I hope they don't
find me. So that was a first thing. I'm an economics and major, so it happens, so I was thinking, you know, but um, other than that, you know, when I got in, I heard saying throw it, throw it, like just do it, just do it. So if I do get fine, I'm coming in for part of it for sure. Um, you know, I think it means a lot. But Sam's even killed got two years great pois. He never gets two up, never gets two down. And you know, I didn't really think it's as much of me just
defending him. I feel like I was just telling the truth. I feel like Sam's been playing well for us all season, and we're able to come out here today and actually go out there and make the place for him we're supposed to make. I mean, you look at some of those catching runs by the Marco, you look at the pass down the sideline where Urgins goes up, like that's the things that we have to do as an offense
because Sam's going to give us opportunities. You know, a lot of quarterbacks when things aren't going well, they kind of clam up. They just start hitting shut downs, throwing things short. But Sam's still letting a rod And that's a testament to a quarterback who has great pois and great confidence and all the guys around him. Like I said, we can ask for better guy back there behind center.
How important did you see this game? You know, considering NFC East and everything and just you know, where you guys were in the standings and all that. I mean, it was very important. I think, you know, basically this point in the season. I mean, I don't even think it's cliches say, every single game is important, you know, to to kind of set ourselves up to make a playoff run late. We got to do things every single day necessary to make that happen. Um. You know, last
year was a little bit of a different story. We got hot early, but then we kind of fizzled out late. So now we can try and reverse that and finish strong. We gotta continue to get guys healthy. We just gotta continue to go out down to practice field and get better. I think Coach Kelly said it best when we got in. He said, the reason why we were able to come out there and win that game was because of how
we practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. So if we would have the same feeling next Sunday, we have to go back press the reset button do the same thing next week. Jordan, how confident were you on the left drive of the game that you guys are going to be able to support there? Um, you know, extremely confident. I felt like, uh, you know, once we I knew, like I said, well, when we get this, when went this coin toss, we're
gonna go in and score I mean our tempo. I felt like, like I've always said, once he get that first first down, you know it's over with. We already get our drives going and we're able to get moving and then, um, it kind of felt weird. It felt like I was back in the West Coast huddle system because then when they reviewed the call, we had a chance to get in the huddle before we called that last play. So you know, Sam was like, Okay, we got this. I'm coming to you like so you know,
you got to make this play for me. So it kind of felt like, you know, oh, man, I've done this before, this this college Hoddle, and I've been going to make a play. He trusted me, He gave me a chance to catch a run, and then you know that was game over. Sam actually predicted that, Oh yeah, he knew. I felt like he was like, hey, get open, I'm coming to you. So there's wide receiver Jordan Matthews addressing the media following the thirty three or twenty seven
to win. Matthews with a game winning forty one yard touchdown. We still are going to hear from quarterback Sam Bradford and running back to Marca Murray. Great to see that for Matthews. You know, I think a lot of people said this going into the byeweek like that. It just came at the perfect time because the players need to just get away, get their minds away, physically, rest up.
And it really showed there in Matthew's performance tonight. Nine catches over one hundred yards, most importantly obviously of the touchdown, but no drops either. Yeah, no doubt about it. I mean, you can easily tell that this offense needed time to collect themselves get back, and they were pressing before the bye week. They wanted it so bad. They wanted it so bad that they were pressing before the bye week.
The receivers and the quarterback. And what I noticed out that the night was that the quarterback was relaxed and the receivers were certainly relaxed night starting with number eighty one. Never worried about eighty one. God works entirely too hard, all right? The game winning quarterback Sam Bradford now talking at AT and T Stadium, You guys to see your receiver do that, man, you know it's huge. You can't say enough about Jordan. You know, the way he worked
this week in practice. I don't know if I've ever seen anyone work as hard as he did, and it paid off tonight. He played great. I mean that last play man, I mean, you just can't say enough about the route and then the finish afterwards. I mean I couldn't be happier for him. Did you really tell him in the huddle after that when they were doing the play of year where to go was way? Yeah? I told him. You know, I got the call from Trip and I came to the huddle and I said, hey,
I'm coming to you win right here. And sure enough he ran a great route and then obviously the run after the catch was huge. Every now and then, Yeah, you see when he looked down and field that you threw it before, Jones felt down right. Uh. Yeah, you know, I thought Jordan did a great job. You know, it's obviously a route where he's trying to sell like an over and then come back out of it. Um, you know,
Jordan was patient sold it. You know, I thought he had Jones turned a little bit and then did a great job coming out of it. You feel like you're back in college out there throwing it up to de Marcos. Uh sometimes yeah, um, yeah, I think I'm a little bit over that now. But you know, when we first got to Philly, you know training camp uh OTA's. You know, it did feel you know, a little bit like college.
I think your first half a notion just in that when the drive in the third quarter, we'll clicked for you for the offense. Um, so we hit the that was the big play to de Marco and then which one that was the past outside? Yeah, um yeah, I think it was just you know, guys went in, you know,
finally got an opportunity to push the ball down the field. Um, you know, created some explosive plays and you know, I thought, you know, for the first time, you know, in a few weeks, we really utilized our tempo the way we wanted to tonight. Um, you know, we did it in the first half and then in that drive. You know, I felt like our guys did a great job. You know, we played fast, we played you know, the way we want to play, and I think it made a difference tonight.
What did you tell you guys, you a can cross get the ball you know tow Yeah, thank you guys start sels that. Yeah, I mean I said, let's go in it right here, and I think everyone said the same thing. And you know, we knew that that's what we wanted to do. We had the opportunity to do it, and you know, fortunately we were able to overtime touchdown past. Um no, I think that. I think that would be
the first one. Yeah, quarterback, Is there anything different about those lay games, Sun compared to First of all, we're saying you, um, not really. I mean, you still try to keep everything the same. Um. You know, we put a lot of emphasis, you know, on our clutch situations, you know, whether they be at the end of the game, you know. And I think because we work on it so often, you know, it feels normal when we're out
there doing it. And I think that's the way you want it at about to sort of unsettled nature out. You guys end backs out. I mean, cool, don't know what you're gonna get, but you got a pretty good job. Man, those guys. You can't say enough about those guys. The way they played tonight, Um, you know, the way they protected me, the way they blocked in the run game. Um. I mean, in every facet of the game, they played
well tonight. And you know, I know there were a lot of questions about that group coming into tonight's game. Obviously Dallas has a good defense, they have a good front seven, you know, and I think those guys won the battle tonight, you know, and it all goes to them. You know, without them, we wouldn't been able to do what we did tonight. You had a question not you know, I told you guys earlier in the week, I thought
we had a great week of practice. I thought, you know, it was one of our better weeks of preparation, you know, and it was nice to finally see it translate onto the field tonight. Do you guys have an extra push with DeMarco coming back to Dallas? Um? I mean, I'm sure he had a little bit more you know, uh fire in his belly tonight. But you know, we knew this was a big game for us, coming off the
bye week, obviously a divisional game on the road. You know, we needed this one and hopefully this, you know, gives us some momentum go and into the second half of the year. Are you pretty happy to be on the field for that fourth down instead of you guys hunting? Yeah, obviously, you know, especially you know, I think that just shows the confidence that coach had and the guys up front.
You know, he had the confidence that they were going to win those matchups and get the push, you know, and then a great job by Ryan, you know obviously, you know, finding a hole, pushing it up in there and getting the yard we needed the Carolina getting the cup on yourself? What is this team for? Um? I mean, you know, it's a great win for our team, you know, most importantly. But you know, I'll look at the film. You know, it's obviously nice to come out and play
the way I did tonight. But you know, in this league, you can't get too high, you can't get too low. You know, we got a big one next week, so you know, I'll watch the tape, see what I need to, you know, correct what I did well tonight and just get ready for the next one. Knowing that you can't wrest on it. I mean, do you feel like sense release relief that clicked in and that thing started hunting? Yeah? Yeah, you know it was nice. You know, hopefully this is
something that we can build off of. Hopefully it's something that you know, we can carry into next week. But you know, I think it's like coach talks about it, to get the twenty four hour roll, whether you win or lose, you know, you got twenty four hours to be really happy. You got twenty four hours to be really really down, and then after that you got to move on to the next one. Jordan, you said, no one wants four hard work. What does that any working? Like?
Did he do this week? Build? Oh Man? So I think it was. I think it was Thursday. Um. In practice, you know, he had a drop in the red zone, and then after that drop, I think he took every rep on the offensive side of the ball, and then he took every rep on scout team going against the defense. And I don't know if I've ever seen the starting wide receiver do that. And it was just you could see it in his eyes, his hunger to get out
there and to fix it and to improve. And you know, I think everyone on our team saw the way that he worked, and like I said, I couldn't be happier for that guy the way he bowed tonight. Thank you? All right, there's quarterback Sam Bradford, the celebratory one. After the eagles thirty three or twenty seven victory in overtime, you're watching the postgame show presented by Rico here in
Philadelphia Eagles dot Com. Chris McPherson alongside Ike Creas We're gonna go back to the phone lunch and welcome in Ernie from Philadelphia. Ernie, welcome to the postgame show. Oh Man. Finally, guys, Hey, how are you outstanding? If someone over like a two part statement. Um. At first, first, I want to say that I think after that first dollar, that first dollars game, when we lost, man, I think it really it really, it really, it really hurt us as a fan base.
I'm talking about the Eagles fan base, and uh, I think we really needed this, not only for the team, but for us fans because we we've been sort of stressed out every game. We've been on the edge of I see, hoping that we didn't make the mistakes that making the beginning of the season. But um, when it comes to the game, I feel like we established our run and I think when we do that, it sort of balances out, uh, the offense, and it gets Sam
comfortable when we gotta get in the rhythm. And I think, you know, once we once we stay consistent with that and our defense played up to the standards that we have been that we have established the beginning of the season. Um, well, for the entirety of the season, I think, uh, I think we are in a good rule. So go Eagles man, Ernie, great call, Thank you very much, and enjoy this one.
You know, should I start signing excuse notes for everyone who's got to call and blake to work tomorrow or not even show up at work, so my kids have to go to school tomorrow, they'll be a little bit
tire teachers. I will apologize in advance. But I thought Ernie made a great point that since that week too game, you know, the fans have just been kind of in a malaise, just sort of thinking that what we saw tonight from this team, it was what we expected back then, and so sometime for things to come together, but it finally did. But just going back to the home opener, you were expecting them to be up on the Cowboys. Everyone was exciting, energized for the home opener, so disappointing
for it to endnet fashion. So it's great to get the revenge the way they did tonight. Yeah, I mean the fans have been in the malaise since that game. The team had been in a malaise as well. I mean, let's just face it, and the fans feed off the team, and when the team plays well, you know these fans will be here, and tonight was one of those games where it was exciting, was big plays up and down the field. Wasn't a bunch of three and out it's a bunch of punts where you basically feel like you're
pulling your teeth out watching the game. This was an exciting game. This is the type of football we got a custom to watching on the Chip Kelly over the last two and a half years, and it was good to see the team get back that. Now what they need to do is build off of that, because when it dust settles tonight, we're four and four and we're in second place. Still a lot of work to be done, a lot more football to be played, but we're on the right path. Goodwin night not Let's build on it
exactly there in position that's the most important thing. So we focus on the offense. We're gonna get into the defensive side of the football after this break. Here on the post game show presented by Rico, I got tickets, Metro tickets. You need a Metro ticket. Talk to me please. I don't even know these real tickets. It all doesn't touch it. I don't know the legit this leather legit. I mean, how do we really know it looks good? Right? The Metro paying? No, I'm paying myself. I gotta make

Now, Welcome back to the Postgame Show, presented by Rico here In Philadelphia Eagle dot com. Let's go to the West coast now,
where it's actually still a little bit earlier. We welcome Chris from LA to the show. Chris, how are you feeling after the Eagles overtime win? And we have Chris there? All right, so don't have Chris there. But now before the break, I said, we really haven't touched on the defensive side of the football. You know, so many great things about the offensive way they were able to persevere. Not the best night for the defense. There were some things that were good. You saw the past rush able
to get to Maccastle a couple of times. You saw Brandon Graham with a multiple sack and multiple force fumble performance. You saw Kiko Alonso comeback into action. But overall, this has been the unit that really been carrying the Eagles in the first half of the season. Not so much tonight certainly wasn't wasn't one of their better performances tonight, Chris, Listen, they gave up over four hundred yards total all fans. I believe it's one hundred thirty four yards rushing on
the ground to make Fadden. I don't even think Christian Michael even got positive yards tonight, So most of those yards came Darren McFadden. But here's the thing. Throughout the course of the season, you may have a game or two like this, but this defense is solid. It's built on a solid foundation, good young players. I thought they had some calls go against them late in the game
that really took away from their aggressiveness. Money Byron mcpwell got called for two tikie tag calls against Davis Bryan out there, and you just can't have that. But Jordan Hicks, you watched number fifty eight right here. You know, I get excited when I see Jordan Hicks makes plays. This kid seems like he comes up with a big play
every week. And Brandon Graham, I mean, Brandon Ram got a sack over arguably the best left tackle outside of Philadelphia, Yes, against Tyrone Smith tonight, So that certainty was a big deal. So I like what the defense was able to do it. But this was a game tonight that the offense needed to win. This was the type of game that the offense had to carry the mail for you, and I was glad the offense was able to step up and do that tonight. All Right, we're gonna go back to
the phone lines. Take two. Chris from l A. Welcome to the postgame show for zan by Rico. Yo. I's going yo yo yo PC y'all, I mean load the show. Always pretty beautiful to win to night right, Yeah it was. It was huge, no question about it, Yeah, no doubt, you know. And I was thinking last week, like, come on, de Marco, he needs to be able to turn the corner.
And I figured if he can, somebody can training the way that he runs straight to you know, use his feet the way that he runs straight to use those same steps as turning a corner. Bo's good. But you know, we got to win the night. He turned the corner the way he was supposed to, and he got it in. And the defense mainly is what I would pumping for, like, come on, defense, get it in, get it in, and
we did get it in. You know, I started, you know, loving Eagles from two thousand and six when I got back in the Madden and started watching football again and with you know McNabb and you know, he was on the front of the cover. So that's where I became an Eagles fan. I'm a full law and all in good time to be all that's the case. So so, Chris, thank you very much for the phone call. No question about now talking about players wearing number fifty eight, like
did that in your day? Yeah, yeah, it was so long ago. That's Trent Cole's number. Now, you know what I mean, you know pretty good players that have warned him at fifty eight. But Jordan Hicks, I mean, he just is anything. This kid can do. Well. I'm happy because hey, he's a linebacker and he's making plays, and then he's from Cincinnati, so there's so many, so many ties that I may have with the kid. So I'm
just happy that he's playing good football. And listen, we've had just about every other inside linebacker go down and this young buck has been able to stay in there all year long. Take the signals, be sort of a leader out there when the older statesman can't make it to the game, like Damiko Ryan's tonight. He couldn't play tonight.
So Jordan Hicks being out there on the field, I think you're looking at a very heady player, a smart football player, a guy who has a nose for the football, and I mean each week, I guess we shouldn't be surprised. He just seems to find his way around football every week, leading tackler on the team. I mean, what can't he do well? The big player of the night from Jordan Hicks, the pick six in the fourth quarter which gave the
Eagles the lead. To break down the all twenty and two of how it happened, let's welcome in NFL Film senior producer Greg ocell to showcase hicks is pick six, the Eagles six yard touchdown run by Ryan Matthews that ended the ninety five yard touchdown drive in the third quarter. Team out of what we call an unbalanced line, and by that, take a look, there's three offensive linemen to the left. Right on the end, there is Lane Johnson, he's the right tackle. He's actually aligned in a tight
end position. And on the other side you have a tight end right here. That's right, You're right, all right. So we'll maybe we'll check out the all twenty two of the Hicks touchdown a little bit later here on Philadelphias dot Com. One thing certainly we yet to mention Caleb Sturgis tonight huge fifty three yard field goal to tie that game up. I mean it's tied up, right, I'll put us ahead. That's the game it was made. Twenty seven, twenty four. Okay, yeah, so huge field goal
made by Caleb Sturgis, fifty plus yard er. I mean that was big time, huge question about the biggest field goal made around here in a while. I'll remember you go back to earlier in the season when in his day Abut he struggled and everyone said, just cut the kid. Okay, it's just not worth it. You know, he couldn't hit a couple of extra points there. Chip said, look, hold on, let's preach all the patients here. We're gonna just stick
with him. And it is paid off for the Eagles, and it came up in a big way here tonight. This was a game that again every little bit was going to count, every little bit would make a difference. You need every point possible. Caleb Surgis with that fifty three yard field goal came through in a huge way and good momentum for him because he gets to face his former team next Sunday in the Golphins, no doubt
about it. I mean, this is one of those games, Chris, where they needed everyone to contribute, whether they were short handed due to injuries or just a simple fact you're on the road in a divisional opponage stadium with their backs against the wall, I mean the Cowboys backs. Their season was on the line and night, and the Eagles need needed a collective effort from everybody, and they got it from the defense when they needed. Jordan Hicks big touchdown early in the game on the picks six one
down to the offense putting up thirty three points. And then Caleb Starge's key field goals made and he was pretty good with his kickoffs tonight. So this is one of those games where you needed the whole roster, all right, got it? N They certainly. Day Let's go back to the phone lines, so let's welcome in Scott from Florida to the postgame show for Day by Rico. Welcome Scott, Hey, what's going on, guys? Thanks for having me. First of all, the great team win. Very impressed by the the overall
players the team. One thing I wanted to point out, or a couple of things, actually I wanted to point out was um. Something that I've noticed that the Chip's done in a couple of games this year on the offensive side that I've been impressed with is um. The success that they've had running the ball with Sam under
the center. UM. I know it necessarily doesn't fit the system that Chip runs, UM, but what's what's the running back like DeMarco Murray that has that style And even with Ryan Matthews who can who can be a very powerful back at times. I think you need prays like that because obviously that can set you up for success in the passing game as well as the play action game, because play action with the quarterback under center, I think
is a very effective way to get the ball downfield. So, you know, kudos to Chip to incorporate some of those plays into the game plan tonight. And uh, defensively, I think Jordan Hicks had an amazing game and stepping in and uh getting that pick six and getting the you know, getting the getting the a sideline excited and everything, and then making plays there in the you know, on the defensive huddle and just stepping up and and to think that he's a rookie making moves like that and making
plays like that for the defense, that's incredible. Tonight was a great, a great team win, and hopefully they hopefully they put it into put the success that they had tonight into the game against Miami next week. Sounds good, Scott. Scott, you're not in Miami, are you. Oh no, no, no no, no, no no no, I'm about four hours away from Miami. Gotch Okay. I didn't know if you're able to talk trash for the Eagles all week long, So all right, I mean, I'll talk trashing no matter what. Well, Scott,
thank you very much for the phone call. Weather exactly. That's the truth. Definitely, So from the leadership standpoint that Scott was alluding to, how difficult is it for a rookie to come in and make all the calls, because look, it's one thing to be around the football and to make plays. But the fact that he is making the calls getting the guys lined up, that seems to be impressive. That he's able to do that and make plays on
top of it. Yeah, I mean, it certainly is. I mean, the very fact that he's been as productive as he has from day one, from the first game that he was out there he was forced to play for Keiko Alonso. When when he went out in that Cowboys, Yeah, I mean, he got a sack against Tony Romo broke his collarbone. That really turned this whole NFC East Division upside down. So it certainly is impressive for him to go out and have a productivity that we've seen this early in
his rookie season. But let me just say this, and he'll be the first to admit this, there are some great veteran leaders on this defensive side of the football that allows Jordan Hicks to be the player that he is. They actually relieve some of the pressure off his back because he doesn't have to be the leader on defense. He has to be the signal caller, he has to
relay the plays to the rest of the guys. But you got Malcolm Jenkins out there, you got conn of Barr went out there, So you got leaders out there on the field that's going to rally the troops. So that takes some of the pressure off a young guy like Jordan Hicks because he already has enough responsibility just getting the plays in there and then being the playmaker out there that he is. All right, So we're gonna
start to wrap things up. Any final thoughts from you on the Eagles the game that they had to have. You could debate whether it was a must win or not. Coming on well s something well, mathematically, you know you could say, but I think for the psyche of everyone and think about how you wouldn't felt tomorrow if they didn't win this game exactly the way that this one down. Yes, no, that's all right. It's much better being in second place with that four and four record. Then even we don't
even have to go there, don't have to worry about this. Plus, Plus you put the down so much further in the basement, and it was huge because to me, this was your toughest role block for the month of November. Now the Eagles can start to gain a little momentum, build some confidence, start to get that swagger back that we've seen a
couple of years ago. One thing I've noticed about this team through the first eight weeks of the season, nine weeks of the season, at least offensively, we're unsure of ourselves. We don't know what our true identity is on the offensive side of the ball. But you're starting to see it. You're starting to see what the identity on the offensive side of the ball is. And we got a few games coming up here that we need to continue to build off of young teams, inexperience, inferior opponents, and the
Dolphins and Tampa even the Detroit Lions. The Eagles will be the better team in all three of those games. Now, we just need to go out there and take care of business because December is right around the corner, and that's when you want to be playing your best football. Christ Year, Yes, yes, that's when you want to be playing your best football. And I like what the Eagles are starting to gain it. It's starting the show and you just hope the second half of the season brings
us what we all want, which is postseason. So you think about the last year when the Eagles were in Dallas on Thanksgiving, that was when they peaked. Ya, that was on top of the season. It was all downhill from there. Maybe different this time around where they just get Oh that's the swag of the talking about see a sprinkle some of that chest. So that's gonna do things. Do it for us Here on the Postgame Show presented by Rico, We're gonna be updating the site in the
mobile app all throughout the night. You're gonna hear from running back to Marco Murray. We're gonna have great co sales all twenty and two. Breakdown of the big plays of this game, so make sure you're stay tuned all

How
about those Cowboys? That's gonna do it for us? Here on the postgame show, He's like Chris, I'm Chris McPherson. Eagles fans, have a great night.
