How do you expect the way the defense collapsed up in this game tonight? I mean we lost a football game. I mean I think you know the day it's all about when this league, it's about winning and losing. And uh, I don't think we made enough plays on defense to win the game. Were you surprised with the way Dallas was able to run football between the tackles against your front seven? I don't think we made a couple of mistakes, but I mean we you know, we just gotta get
a hat on them. Sometimes sometimes went through that scott free and uh, I mean that's that's not us. But we just gotta get it cleaned up and get a shoulder on them, hold them up and you know, way to the game, get there to get them on the ground. The second half, third down was crucial and they converted a lot of third downs on you guys. Now I haven't watched the tape, but they did convert a lot of third downs, and uh, you know, we just gotta
be better. And then they are really good on a really good third down team when this crushes, when it's crunched time, and uh, you know all this today we were they made they made they made plays and we didn't. How much do you attribute to what happening to a lot of guests being injured on this see how much do you attributed to that? Let's know what you could keep We're all pros. At the end of the day.
The next guy gotta step up. We're all in the same meetings, were all in the same practice, are participating everything together so that the next man up. It shouldn't be an excuse. You guys talked about how did it take care of your division? So what's the message after this one? Because you gotta get ready for next week. Obviously, this this this law suck and we have sucked lately at home. Um we I'm really good at home in
later weeks. So we got to do something about that and get this game behind us and get ready to go to all this next week is a real test for us. And know what you describe the way the defense so it consistent in this game today. I mean, you know, I thought earlier in the game we got a bunch of stops. The biggest part of later game we couldn't get the negative plays on first and second down. I thought the Cowboys had a really good package on
third and two and less. So some things are really hard to handle, which extended drives m kemp us on the field. So yeah, I mean it was just really the inability to get um, you know, some negative as or get them behind the sticks first and second down. Were you surprise they reads? But they slats as they did intersecutive Uh no, I mean that's that's kind of in their wheelhouse. Easy throws to the quarterback, you know, especially versus press man um, somehow I weren't surprise about it.
You have to talk so much about taking care of your division. So with the message now when you look at the big picture, I think they're you not allowed to look at the big picture at this point in time. It's just taking pride in the work that you do every single day working, whether that's your preparation, um, the way you practice. That's all we can afford to look at at this point. There is no big picture. It's just one day at a time, taking pride in your work,
and then we'll we'll figure out the wrest level. Welcome with you. You know, wrongs already coming out and you have like three guys everything, you know what I mean, It's not like you got time and time to sit there and cry about it. I mean, the end of the day, you put the next guy in and you can play. I thought, you know, sullivant payment and uh play. Well he didn't didn't. He wasn't out there wide eyed.
He knew what we were doing. Um. You know, it's just obviously we got a ton of injuries in the secondary. But like I said, we don't have time to make excuses. We got a job to do. Um, and so we'll continue to prepare to get these guys many reps as we can. Um. Obviously, we gotta gonna have a challenge this week with Drew Brees and the Saints often so UM, the emphasis goes on the preparation, two weeks to prepare, and we like to win. So any loss is disappointed,
but uh, none more than anything else than any other loss. UM. At the end of the day, we didn't perform the way we wanted to. So well we'll take the same process, evaluate it, prepare and go play again. I'm gonna miss tackles. Seems you try to be down in time. It seems like you're happening obviously that you guys seeing that out there too, you feel that I mean you got Ezekie Eliot running the ball. It's not the easiest person to get on the ground. They make plays too, I think
later in the game. Uh, you know it probably showed up just keeping them behind the sticks. You know, weren't getting the tackles for losses or those short games. Someone they're falling forward for even if it's four yards, do that two times and now one third and one or two. And they had, like I said, they had a really good package that we were struggling with on third and shorts, which is hard for anybody. But we got a running quarterback like Dak and Zeke. Obviously it makes it a
little tough. But um, you know, for for us playing a team like that, we knew coming into it we had to stop the run, especially early in those those series, and um didn't get the mission accomplished. But you'd seen this defense already once this year. What did you try
to stress to the guys here, Bob, how to attack then? Um, you know, kind of a different system completely, So I wasn't really expecting the same coverage is the same style of play, and plus it was you know division games, so um, you know when we played them last time, I felt like we got a lot of man played today. We got when I was in there, I got a lot of zone. Um. But we we had some beaters for everything, but we just you know, we didn't make enough. Place.
You've only been here a little bit more than a week, how much you would playbook? Did you really have ton to grass? Um? You know, I I try to study at all and just try to learn all the concepts the best I can. I still got a little ways to go, but um, the coach is doing a good job and not over overwhelming me. And I'm just kind of putting some some extra work in every day. Um. You know, while I'm there, I want to get home
and it'll come. That's the most frustrating today I did go in the red zone and you know, like I've been here for I gotta still gotta get a feel for things. Um, we just gotta make make a few more plays. Um. We made some really good plays tonight, but just just not enough that that last play is that for you guys? What was that kind of like a design? You know whatever? Whoever has the ball flipped it back or no, We're just trying to keep it alive anyway we could, Um, you know, I probably should
have flipped it somewhere. Um, go back and watch the film. But I just gotta keep the ball a lot um, and I didn't. Well did you expect to have maybe more of an impact? Um? You know, they designed a package for me and I just started the heck out of it. And you know, like I said earlier, the flows of games are just different. You know, you can't to take the flow of games. And you know there were some guys other guys that they're making some big time plays for us and and moving the ball just
you know, I just I just did my job. You know, I got here and one thing I stresses. I just wanted to do my job and you know, fit in however, the coaches and the players, you know see that I can and just just help us win anywhere anywhere I can, dulls do it and get the way against you. The other touches had so much success against Super Viaga, but
anywhere aware of you or uh yeah, I guess. I mean, you know, just when I played in the first time, we saw a lot of man and you know, I like every time I was on the field, you know, I saw a lot of zone. Um, you know, It's just it's just how it worked out. Um. You know, we had some great plays out there, and you know, we had some zone beads and man beaters, just we didn't make enough place I would puts it to feel comfortable. Backer.
We haven't done a mucher lager. Yeah, I don't mind it. Um. You know again, it's just anytime I can get the ball in my hands, I feel like I can do something with it. And you know, I didn't get too many opportunities, and you know, I had to knock the rust off a little bit. But I'm keep working at it and keep learning these guys. It's learning the assignments and trying to give us the best best chance to
win I can. It seemed like you didn't take your helmet off the entire first half of what you got in. How emp are you for this? I was? I was pretty pumped. Um. I figured keep me warmer if I kept it on. Um, And I'm just kind of trying to stay warm. Um. I didn't know, you know, if there's gonna be a turnover or you know, wouldn't you know, punt punt return. So I just trying to stay ready to trying to stay warm, which you think about the atmosphere,
it's nice. Um, it was, the link was rocking. UM. I was very impressed, and I wish we would have given you know, our fan base a little bit more to cheer about. UM. I know how important this game I was to to everyone in the city, and you know, we just didn't get it done. We talked about, you know, taking care of the adition. We still have a chance to take care of the position. So how disappointee used the performance? You know, coming off the weak arrest and
does that make it worse? Um, coming off the week arrest. I mean, and I mean this is the NFL. You if you don't, they get paid too and they're good football team. I mean, we didn't play well enough to beat them. That's the bottom line. I think sometimes you know, people look at it and say, well, you know, we went whatever we went last year at thirteen and three fourteen two, we're just supposed to roll the ball out there,
and we don't look at it that way. We knew we had to come in here and play well to beat the Cowboys, and we didn't play well. Though they get paid too or good football team, and we can't just play okay and expect to beat a team. Looked up the whole field advantage too. It was it was such a four year at home for so long. Now it's been a while since. Yeah, no doubt. I mean that sucks. We gotta fix it. I don't know. We
all got to do better. Is there anything you can point to as to why you guys have been so much better in the first half of the seconds to do? I have no idea something to look at. It's not like guys are getting tired, it's not it's not like guys aren't playing hard. It's like, you know, uh, we're not physically prepared to play. So I don't know. We just got to look at it. Um, it's definitely showing up thought the message. Now, what can you We gotta finish. I mean, we're not out of it by far. We
want to win a division. The division still wide open. A couple of games down to Washington, we still got to play them twice. We're not going in the tank at all. We're gonna finish. We're gonna finish wrong. But this has been like a roller coaster right all season long. What happened to the killer instinct that was with this team. We still happen. We're just coming up short. You know, we lost a couple, you know, four games within fifteen
sixteen points, and then we lost the nights. So I mean this little stuff, you know, I mean, that's the difference between mission and last year. How about here at home. We're such a course here at home, and it's been a while now. No, I think we didn't drop two or three year at home, and I mean last year, I don't think we lost one game at home. So we just got to clean up all the little things and then get back to the Eagle football. You got seven games left to play. What do you say these
guys and a lot too Uh? Finished, finished, man, don't go on the tank, don't listen to none of the negativity. Uh, just come to work and and let's finish. We got the Saints next week, tough opponent. We're gonna be gonna be ready for him. For you to be playing through everything when you're playing crop and for the team to be not doing something, how frustrating is that hadn't a sudden sideline and watched way look at the last year.
I mean, it ain't. It ain't nothing to me. I'm going out there and battling, whether we won one win, eight wins, ten wins. I'm I'm I'm suiting up and I'm playing every every week, and I'm gonna give out all. I got a bunch of Lane Johnson's appoence hurt tonight. I mean, anytime you got a guy like Lane all pro that's not in the lineup, you know, it definitely hurts. But we next man up by Ty and I mean I think he did well tonight against Lawrence and we
just came up short to night. When you say that that you'll be out, you know, no matter what, no matter what the record is, White, why is that for you? And you know you can even such an amazing career wise, it's a poor people until those of the other A little championships at this point, that's that's all. That's a lot of championships. Get to the postseason and win championships. With the secondary play role at all in this game,
I don't think that's an excuse. We've we've got guys who are more than capable that we have a lot of trust him. Um, you know, guys that have played a lot of football, so um, you know, again, it's all execution. It's all us. You know, we gotta put that the defense is really well in the first half, typically the offense is live well in the second half. Why why have you guys failed up on that in the hand. It's tough. It's tough, you know, we're talking
about that. It's if we can put it together. Um, you know, go up and get a big lead on on teams earlier, make things a lot easier. Um. You know, if we just offense, defense, special teams could all put it together at one time and made help a lot. For some reason, you know, it's just not happening. You know, we got to find a way to make it happen, to find a way that to uh, you know, to get everything clear. It's kind of a way to work. Last year we were getting early amazing of course, and
teams to change your game. Yeah, it's not happening. Yeah so far so uh, you know, we'll get back in the lab and um check out the field. Take it one practice at the time, one game at a time. Um, really good upon it. You know next week, so um, I gotta bounce back. How a daunting is that? Daunting? No? No, none of that. Just again, one game at a time. We got a really good football team. Man, we just gotta put it together. You gotta execute. Got a team.
Why the turnover has been so scared? So what do you think? Yeah, it's goodness, gracious, I don't you know. It's tough stuff. You know, a lot of times you get opportunities. I feel like we have one opportunity this game with Comma with gotta freaking big old thing on his hands. You know, it's tough on him. Um stuff, Man, we've got to find a way to get the ball back our offense, you know, and whatever it is. But
us quarterback quarterback may not give us an opportunity. You got to get after that ball and put on runners hands. You know, we gotta go after and we haven't. We haven't done that well enus yet. And then they they played their stuff, Um, first half, they execute it a lot better than us. We couldn't find rhythm in the first half. UM kind of got to the red zoner of the first half and score touchdowns. So it's tough.
M down thirteen or three a half time. UM put our defense in a hole, and our defense is meant to play with the lead. Unfortunately we haven't gotten them the lead very often a couple of games. But other than that, we're just not playing as well for sixty minutes as we'd like to. On offense, are the opening are the opening which least? I mean, that's a trend. Any any idea what's going on? Um? Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, if we could fix it, if I knew the exact reason, I believe we would get it fixed by now. Um, we got too many weapons to mass score touchdowns in the first quarter. Um, we just gotta start fast. I mean, it's not like we're going into a game and they hadn't surprised by what the defense is doing. They're doing what they do. Um, they're not really doing anything out of the ordinary. When we play teams,
I feel like we have a great scout. Um, like I going into the game, we're very confident with what we have called what the play is going. Then the second half typically we get rolling. After the first score, we get rolling. Um. And so he's got a fine solution because we've got a really big game this week. There's no other way to put it. All This early plays scripted. Yeah, I mean, so you've been scripted for the first sixteen for years now. Yeah, so the so
the players are scripted. You guys are practicing all during the week, and just seems, um is the reason why they're not not effective. And it seems and the other thing I'm wanting to ask too, is it, do you feel like they're you guys are being aggressive enough early on this on this first drives. I mean I think, um, I mean, we're we have plays to be really aggressive,
especially this game. Um. First play the game, I don't do get enough job stopping to Marcus Lawrence, and he kind of Um, he's the sole reason the play wasn't as successful. Um, So it just falls on the players to go out there and execute later. UMU having but having you blocked to Marcus Lawrence isn't probably a fair I mean yeah, I mean it's a play action. UM. I've blocked that block a thousand times. Obviously, he's a very special player, best player on that defense. UM. But
I put a lot of pride in my blocking. It's not something that I just take for granted. UM. I think the coaches trust me. I've been doing it for years now. We ran that same play against some really good players in Jacksonville, and I stown him every time. Last week, So I just gotta be better, UM and start. I mean, I'm looking in the mirror trying to be better. Doing the last play in the game. Sure that. Yeah, we ran a kind of all end zone play. UM. Caught the ball I don't even like at the ten
yard line. I think, try to saw Golden. Tate knew that we had a limited time on the clock, so I just try to make a play. UM, try to get the ball in Golden's hands. I guess uscal with the ball in his hands. UM. Looking back on it, Um, UM, I don't know the exact rules of what I would have done differently, UM, but I wish we ended up in a touchdown.
