I said the same thing. You know, Hollie and Joe, those guys, all the scouts are always looking for ways to improve our team. So whoever's out there that can improve our team, whether it's a guy like Tulley who's unsigned, or guys on other teams that are looking at roster numbers, and um, you know we're gonna watch preseason games and you know, be looking at wave of wire who might be cap casualties. That's what that's what the personnel department does.

And UM, you know I trust those guys to explore every option that would that would help us. When you were a head coach, did you, guys, your team's ever hit And if not, what do you learned? What do you learn from parting players hit that maybe you wouldn't get out of Yeah, I I'm my phone for that one again. When I was a head coach leading, Um, I'm not the head coach. I'm defense coordinator. My job is to do what coach Peterson wants And did you

ever do? Um, what's in the past is in the past. Um, here's here's what Here's what I want to say from a defensive mentality, it's nice to have a head coach that wants to have a physical practice, that wants to um, you know the thud guys up. A lot of offensive coaches shy away from that, but I think it's gonna pay all for us, not just defensively, it'll pay all for us offensively. You know, coach wants to build a tough,

physical team, and um, that doesn't happen by accident. You know, that doesn't happen with um, you know, with you know, just you know, hoping that it happens. Hope it isn't a very good strategy. Got to go out and do it and we embrace it. Will you good? Look at the film afterwards? Are there things you can see when you guys are hitting it? Maybe? Oh, no question, no question. Well, I mean it's it's one thing when um, you know,

you're like, say you're in a live period. It's one thing where a guy to say, yeah, i'd have made that. You know, you know you're thudding a running back or you know, thudding a ball carrier out and made it. And you're sitting there looking at film, it's like and I don't like your angle right here. Well, when you're in some of those periods, it shows, Um, you can.

There's no gray area whether you could make it or not. Plus, um, you know this game is built with tough physical players and and that that sort of shows through when you get tough physical practices, you know, it's it's a it's a reveal. And when it comes to who the guys that you know they can execute that most of the the death our rookies are first year of players. Would you like to see see see a veteran death there? Um,

you know we have some good veterans on here. Um. Nausey Good is a young veteran, but you know, I think he does a great job in that role. And I think we've got a good mix of younger players and older players. Um. You know, I don't think you go in with with preconceiving um notions that way. I don't think you sit there and say, yeah, we have X number of vets and X number of of rookies. Um, you know, we leave that to Howie and Joe and

the personnel guys, and we'll coach who's out there. Smaller safety. But he seems to have no problem throwing his body around. A little video. Yeah, if you watched him Alburn in Michigan, that was that was obvious during the physical practices here that um, you know, that was part of his resume. You know, you're right, he's not the biggest guy in the world. UM, but you know, there's a lot of safeties that aren't big, you know. I mean it's it's I've experienced with a guy and uh, I mean Rodney

Ronny Mcloud's not that big. I mean, Rodney's not even peanuts off of Blake's head. But every time he's out here, you know, I think you guys know, I mean, does Rodney look small when he's out here? M You know, it's all about you know, you're positioning, your leverage, your toughness, those things. And I think Blake has those young linebackers video based with young linebackers that they have walk m gals steppe all at times. Um. But you know, like a lot of young players, they're all trying to um

work through inconsistencies. I think Joe Walker has done a very good job of, um, you know, handling all the stuff that goes along with being a mic linebacker, you know. And I I said a couple of days ago, I wasn't given gold stars to Jordan Hicks for you know for doing that, but Jordan's not a rookie and um, and Joe is so um you know, when he's out there, he does he does a nice shout with it done. Since the pads went on. We talked to you about

it earlier. Yeah, you know, he's he showed up every day. Um. He's had some ups and downs. I'm sure you guys have been documenting those. But you know what I like about him is he's very competitive and he comes back. He doesn't shy away from uh, he doesn't shy away from contact. Um, he doesn't shy away from matchups. You need that in a corner. Um. You know, if you're on the if you're on the edge and you're not and you don't embrace being on that island, you're in

the wrong business. And you know you go around here. I mean, Philly's had great history of some some corners that we're on islands that um you know that embrace that. And I think Jalen has shown signs that he can that he can do those things. He's still he's still young, he's still inconsistent. He's got his ups and his downs, but he comes he comes ready to ready to battle.

Every day. I think that he was seeing some No now, we got some guys down, we got some different things, and we rolled guys through a lot of different things. I think the only thing that could you look at it this way. It doesn't mean he's running with the first group, because we just sort of melt our groups together anyway. But it does show that we want to see him match up against some of the different wide receivers. I think you could you could read that into it.

How do you how do you do you feel like it's right open? You know, were wide open everywhere, including defensive coordinator. You know, we can find somebody better. Let's do it. It makes it better. I mean it's going to be about the production of the group. So you know out there there's nothing set in stone. Um. You know, there's plenty of jobs to be earned. Um. Eric has done a good job. Eric. Eric has some very good strengths. He's tall, he's hard to throw over top of UM,

he can be physical. UM. I think we've seen that there was a backed up period. He came up, made a big hit on the on the on the flat route, a tight end to the flat route that might have been a safety. That's what you want to see corner if you don't want to see corners back down from tight ends going to the flat and you know, Eric s flashed those things, you know, and again we get a little ahead of ourselves with him being a you know, too much of a season player. He's got about a

half a year or less and starting thing. There's still a lot of things he's learning. Well, I was going to ask you about well the question, but I'll ask you about Thursday night. What are you what are some things you're looking for from this defense? I'm about making it through today to tell you the truth, if you circle back next week on on that. I mean, we're still in training camp, but we're thinking about preseason games. We're thinking about the wrong thing right now. Stand up page,

russurants hand in the dirt. What are some of the things that you've seen from him? Because he seems to be coming on list uh pun pun intended. He means business, you know, Um, he comes to work. Uh. He's physical, he fits the scheme. He's tall, he's got long arms, he can build some power with speed. Might want to ask the tight ends about him because he's been giving a lot of those guys. Uh, you know, some some tough situations to handle come. You know, probably like anything else.

I mean, there's there's good ones, there's there's bad ones. Um, you know, we had a couple of tough matchups there. You know, selic Urts, Um Burton. Burton's made plays, you know a lot. He's tough matchup for US Sprowls, you know. I mean those are tough matchups for anybody. So, um, you know, I mean we're gonna win something, We're gonna lose something about Are you anxious to see after seeing all these practice how they guys played three that's a

little way more. Yeah, I'm gonna stay on message there. Um, I mean I'm anxious to see how to respond to the walk through today. We had a pretty good day this morning, and um, but we don't need to get you know, we don't need to be pattent guys on the back for that. I mean that's their job. It's training camp. They need to go do that and they need to you know, I've been well documented saying that

we got to put the inconsistencies behind us. If we start talking about preseason games, we're talking about the wrong thing. We got a training camp practice today, we got to walk through today. We got meetings today, we got another padded practice tomorrow. You start looking too far ahead, and um, you know, and and and you're gonna lose sight of what our real objective here, and that's to improve every day, all right,
