I've been yelling a little bit these last few days, But let me just update you real quick on who who is out for this game. All right, just as we talked to, uh, Chris Padouzy so on defense, Marcus Smith, Mike Martin, Michael Kendricks, Malcolm Jenkins, and Jacorey Shephard. I will I'll be out on defense. On offense, Wendale Smallwood, Hunter Sharp, Jordan Matthews, Marcus Johnson, and Jason Peters. Now

Jason Peters. We'll actually work out with the team during pregame warm ups tomorrow night or Thursday night rather, and he'll be on the side. He'll be in uniform. He won't play, but he's gonna go through go through the drills, and we just want to see where he's at so he can be ready for next week. So he'll be in uniform on the sideline, but won't play. With that, I'll open it up. You already know kind of what

he is. But how much has this time that he's missed this hitting period, how much does that hurt him? And I'm not being ready to play in the first game. Well, I think I think just being used to the contact is gonna well, I don't want to say it set him set him back, but um, you know, getting banged around as a running back is obviously they're they're their biggest, biggest part of their game as being that that physicalness

and the past protection and all that. But um, you know, we'll do enough of the A thud drills in practice to hopefully get him get him caught up where he needs to be when he when he eventually returns left tackle place of beaters wide receiver place and ordering place now, so left tackle Matt Tobin will take his place, and then you got Nelson's going to be a disease spot and then Chris Gibbins will take over at the X spot with um, you know, you got Ruben Randall and

Josh Huff will be in that mix as well. In that first first part of that first part of the game, Malcolm, you're gonna look, you're gonna Rodney's gonna play Rodney McLoud and then you got Chris Marrigos will be will be um uh and and Jalen Watkins on a rotating basis in that in that in the first game, just to follow up one year good backing off the good contracting practice if you were you asking buying players association with anybody, any of the players who play. There was too much

fun there, not at all. In fact, I actually had great feedback, uh you know, really from the players and coaches and and they're quite honest. Uh you know. Uh. Part of my job is is to to stay in tune with those guys and to to to watch your team practice and those are tough, tough six days now we only took one of the pads off one time. And and even though we're not going to the ground there there. I mean, if you watch nine on seven and you watch some of these drills we did, they're

they're hitting. I mean, they're still banging. We're just not going all the way to the ground. So uh, it's my job to make sure that we're getting just enough. And at the same time, if I feel like I need to back down, I'll back down. And and uh

um that's that's that's what I was at. Clarify, Tuesday's practice was always meant to be though I did not tackle correct, So you weren't changing the schedule based off and no, we didn't mention about so what's going on there he was dead is actually up all four quarters in this football game. Yeah, give you have you decided how you you're gonna do be calling the plaze with Frank? Is it gonna be you directly to quarterbacks or we're

gonna be Yeah, Frank and I spoke last night. We we visited again and and um, I'm I'm gonna I'm obviously gonna call the plays, call the game, and I'm gonna call directly to the quarterbacks. Um with with Frank, you know, being on the sideline with me. Is it a nag for Kendricks? Yes, yes, let me just double check. But Naji Naji will be be starting for Kendricks. Obviously m kind of a history with these lingering injuries hamstrings into that kind of thing. Is that concerning all here

for the first preseason game already has not? Really, it's very very mild, um, And it's something that uh, you know, obviously be out for this game, but should expect him back on Saturday for practice. Is to manage in a game? Why do you feel it's important called to place yourself one offensively? Um from a speed standpoint of calling the plays from directly from myself to the quarterback. Um, that is probably the biggest, the biggest issue. Um and then and then just it just keeps you so in tune

to the game. I mean, you're so you're so you're focused, not only offensively, but when when the defense is back out there, I mean you're just you're you're looking at how your players are playing, and um, you know, you're you're kind of that quarterback on the on the sideline and and being in that position for you know, so many years has really kind of uh led me to be in this position. You know, on game Band, you screw those plays in the first half, and we screw

placed for Carshion in the second half. I will, I will, I'll put together, um, you know, openers for for all all the quarterbacks for this football game, and uh uh go go that way. As far as managing the dad, do you do anything differently in the preseason to see situations, whether it's going to fourth down or or or or you're or you're shore going to decisions things like that, You're you're a little more um, you're a little more probably uh probably a little more aggressive, you know, in

the preseason and in certain situations. Um, if I feel like, uh, you know, if we're in the middle of a drive and it's fourth and one, I feel like, you know, we want our offensive lines doing well and I want to go for it. We'll go for it. Uh in

those situations. Plus it helps your football team. I think you get to the regular season to know just the importance of those of those opportunities and and uh, you know, any time that you can put your team and that's again, those are those are situations that training camp you can sort of iron those things out before you get to the regular season, so you have a really good idea of what you can and can handle them. They're both gonna kick. There is really, you know, no one guy

who's gonna get any more kicks any other. They're both gonna kick, not at all, not at all. In fact, you know, he's very comfortable where he's at. Um, you know, he's he's getting better every day. I mentioned that the other day, and and uh, you know, I think Carson's Uh. I've seen a lot of young quarterbacks that come in and struggle mentally with the terminology and the just the overall volume of offense that we have in at this time,

But I haven't seen that from him at all. And uh, you know, we we we haven't had any uh you know, communication breakdowns in the huddle with him. Um, you know, so very very pleased with where he's at mentally, and now it's just a matter of continuing to detail his work and fine tune some of the mechanics. What are you mostly looking at with him in the second half

Thursday night, What are you really well? The biggest thing is just uh hit his his decision making, um, the timing of throws, the accuracy of throws, how well he he in turn manages manages the offense, how well they move, um, you know, and and basically allowing him to to just have fun and cut it loose. He's such a mobile guy that when when when he can scramble and get on the perimeter, he has the ability to make some make some tremendous throws and accurate throws out of the pocket.

And I'm kind of excited to watch him, watch him do those types of things in a in a live setting. Good I see about like keeping Lane Johnson at right tackle a while Jason Peters has been out. But I guess as a follow up, like do you see the need at all, like maybe during training camp or whatever to have lane Johnson, you know, trying him over at left tackle just in case something were to happen during the season. I think I think that, Yeah, I mean, I think there would be a time to do that.

You know, this is you know, like everything else, this would be the time to give him some work over there. So it's something that coached out and I will continue to talk about, but you know, I think, uh, definitely leave it, leave it open to be able to give him a few a few reps or at least a day over there at the left side. And the reason I'm not doing it now is just you wanted me to get comfortable on the right side of it. Just stay comfortable in the fact that that Matt Tiban is

doing a good job at left tackle. So right now, there's there's no need coming into this first game to make that make that adjustment going forward. That injury more signific evening this Friday more significant. No, actually I thought it was less significant. Um, it looked bad on tape. Once I watched it on film, it looked worse than than than what I initially thought out here in the field. So definitely, you know it's one now that it's day

to day. Um, and and so there's no structure damage in there, which is definitely pleasing because on tape it looks like it could have been. Um but yeah, no, it's uh, I'm just looking forward to when he does return. Bruise. It's a strange more of a bone bruise, yeah in there. Yeah. Yeah, this time table, it means there's a good chance that he wouldn't see any preseason action and it will look change. Would you like to have that entire first team offensive

play Build one or two series? Yeah, you know, I'm I'm not gonna I'm not gonna try to rush him back, you know, because I know what he's he's shown so much out here already and what he's done in the spring. But at the same time, if you know, um, if I could get them all healthy for that third preseason game, you know, I mean that's the time that you play

your starters a little bit more than a quarter. Obviously he played more into the third, so that would be the time frame that if you were putting one on him to hopefully get back for that football game, so that all the all the guys are healthy at that time. He's Jeal Mills ahead of row get trick at this time he is yes, And what does he showed to be about the seventeen player? I just think every day he comes to comes to work. I mean the aggression

out here, the aggressiveness, his style of play. He's got a lot of PPUs and and uh, get hands on the ball, and he's he's he's willing and eager to to to to want to be in that in that position. So everything I've seen from Jalen is definitely thumbs up, arrows up, and and just look forward to these games now with Himson mentioned Carson's abiliate to run during training camp. You kind of have to remind him to protect themselves

a little bit more when he gets in action. Yeah, it was the first thing when he came here back in April. You know, I said, hey, we're at a different level now and you got to make sure you protect yourself and and uh he understands that, and um, at the same time, UM, you know again, it's a it's it's it's a fine line. But but also you got to know that, you know, your longevity in this league is is to protect yourself and to to to be here week in and week out, and and we'll

continue to talk and and managing that way. Okay, I know it's only a pretseason, but you know how excited about you for this game As a coach, I'm excited. I'm really looking forward to to getting over there in the first one, you know in the link, and having having the fans there and uh uh the opportunity to play against another opponent and just watch our guys come how they've competed for the first two weeks of camp

and watch them go against another another team. And you know, obviously you come you want to come away with with no injuries. Um, but at the same time, we're going to stay aggressive and and uh, you know, I'm thrilled. I'm looking forward to it, and I just can't wait for Thursday. Said before training came up with and you

couldn't really sleep. I'm getting that way right now, you know, just uh just kind of keyed up for it, and um, you know, just looking forward and there's a lot of things that have to go on between now and then with the planning and scheduling and and uh just sort of you know, uh kind of detail and even with the players, you know, just kind of managing them. But at the same time, I know personally that UH might be a restless night
