Eagles Entertainment. All right, Eagles win twenty two to fourteen over the Bears to go five and four heading into the bye week. Thanks for joining us on the postgame show presented by Rico, Amy Campbell friend Duffy. I crease you, guys, an ugly winn is still a win, as they say in the football world, and we have to give the Eagles credit, especially that last drive sixteen plays, eight minutes and fourteen seconds with the Jacob Elliott field goal to ice it. Let's just start to put a bow on
this thing for the people. Well, I mean, a tough game, you obviously just want to come out with the victory. They don't have to be pretty. They all count as a w a as long as you have more points than your opponent at the end of the game, that's all it truly matters. And going into the bye week, they obviously needed to keep the momentum from last week.
Going back at home after three weeks. You know, you get up on a team like Chicago who doesn't seem to pose a big threat to you, you can sort of be lethargic a little bit, and I think that's what it was in the first half didn't have a lot of juice going out there offensively, but they fought through that and wind up making the big plays late in the game, which you needed to do to win
to salt Await his victory. Yeah, I think too that this is while this team Chicago obviously is not playing well, this is a battle tested team that was in the playoffs. We've got a lot of veterans on that team, so they weren't just going to go away. So you know, the Eagles, they keep them in the game. They were able to fight back into it, and then you had the close game at the end, but really good to pull away with the victory. Well, and this is a
good defense. The defense that was very good today, very disruptive, really gave the Eagles offense a lot of fits, and yet they were still able to get enough points, more points than the Chicago offense was able to put up a lot of penalties for them. Eagles absolutely dominated in the time of possession. If I can pull up this number here, forty minutes for the Eagles to nineteen forty two for Chicago. You can't win a lot of games
when you don't have the ball that long. Yeah, and a lot of that is due to the way the Eagles defense played today. We know that this Bears offense struggled coming into this game. Mitchell Trubisky struggled at the quarterback position, and I like what the Eagles defense did, particularly in the first half. A lot of three announced they're really smothering this Bears offense, keeping everything in front
of them, taking away the running game. And then to compliment what the Eagles defense was doing, is the offense was possessing the ball. We didn't get a lot of touchdowns there in the first half, but I thought they drove the ball down their first two drives with efficiency, got it in the red zone, unlike the Eagles not
to cash in for touchdowns. But the Bears again the standy defense that they're gonna make you fight for every blade of grass, particularly when you get down there in the red zone, and the Eagles weren't necessarily able to capitalize and get touchdowns. It's the only reason the Bears were still in this game. It's because their defense were able to help hold the Eagles offense to field goals
early in that first half as opposed to touchdowns. Or this may have been a blowout which really allowed the Bears to get back in the game. So you get their deepense some credit for really fighting to keep their team in but quite frankly, with the exception of the one big play Trubisky hit for the fifty three yards, I think it was the Gabriel Yeah, yeah, the Bears offense really wasn't a real thread out there. Yeah, two hundred and two yards in the first half of the
Eagles offense. Nine for the defen Yeah, that's all the defense allowed in the first half, and it was one before that final possession in garbage time the end of the second quarter. So oh for six on third down that the Bears offense was to start the game in the first half. Really, the defense, they came out like gangbusters early on. We talked about it. They you know, they came out really really strong. Like you mentioned that the offense was able to salt away drives. They did
a really good job possessing the football. You just want to see them punch it in in for touchdowns at the end of those drives, really make the defense pay and really put them out of their misery early in the game. Obviously that was not the case, and they were able to bounce back well and really giving Mitchell Trubisky a difficult time today as well. He completed only ten of twenty one passes forty seven point six percent one hundred and twenty five yards. He was sacked three times.
His longest pass was that fifty three yard but quarterback rating of sixty six point six percent not a great day. And you could just see that he was emotionally affected by what the Eagles defense was doing to him today. Yeah. You know it when you know, when you get into a quarterback's head and you've got them early on, Yeah,
you remember that feeling. I mean, that's what that's The Eagles had them on the ropes, and so they came out with a nude game plan in the second half, and that was even though they were behind, they were still going to run the football, extra tight ends, extra offensive lineman, play action, make things well defined for the quarterback, and then they were able today. It was a form
of that work for them earlier in the game. And let's be honest, the last two weeks, the Eagles didn't have to face a real offensive threat, right, you know, two offenses that will run the ball, quarterbacks will scramble around a little bit. But for the most part. You gotta give this Eagles defense credit for basically taking care of business like they should. All Right, we have Dave Spedero standing by from the Lincoln Financial Field to give
us a little bit more on this Eagles victory. Dave, you or had a front row seat to this victory for the Eagles today. What allowed them to get this W? Not a not a beautiful W. You will take the ugly win on this one. I'll take the ugly win. I don't mind that at all. Um. I will say this as much as you're talking about the defense, I just off the tail end of what I was saying.
I will say the way the Eagles again consumed some clock at the end of the game, converted three third downs, the first third down of ten yards or more that the Bears have allowed all year, and they did it as al Sean Jeffrey comes off the field limping. So they had jj Arthega Whiteside, Nelson Aghalore and two tight ends on the field and they were really resourceful and
that was good to see. You know, Carson Wentz doesn't get the credit here for the fourth quarter comeback win, but the way that he managed that last possession, the way that he got rid of the football accurately, tight windows, very impressive to ice this victory. I'm wondering, Dave, when you look at the offense, right, DeShawn in practice all week, unable to go after the first series, how much did you think that sort of played into what the Eagles
were able to do the rest of the game offensively. Yeah, I'm not sure how much they actually counted on DeShawn Jackson to be a major part of today. And I will hear the update from Doug. Just in my sense is that it's nothing that's really a setback here. It just didn't open up for Deshaun in the game situation. But I mean, they've obviously gotten used to playing without Deshaun. They've had to utilize their personnel, group their groupings, their ability to move Ertz and Goddard in and out and
interchange them, to use Miles Sanders as a receiver. I mean, what a terrific play, the release and the throw from Carson and his ability to gain that third and long play. So yeah, they're there. It's not explosive, it's not pretty.
They're not scoring enough points, okay, on a consistent basis, we all expect more, but in this case against a very good defense, the Eagles held the football for the duration of the fourth quarter, and that was critical without two of their big weapons, not only Deshan Jackson but for the most part here after that first catch, without Alshon Jeffrey Well, Dave, the only question I've got for you is, obviously, you know you're so close, you're so tied in as the Eagles Insider, I'd love to know
what is the state of this team, what's the mindset of this team now going into the bye week. You're I know you're gonna touch on it on the Eagles Insider podcast after the game, but give us your thoughts until where this team is now as they go into the break. I would say, friend, very relieved, very very much looking forward to the bye week. Bye week never comes at a bad time, right, I mean, this is a really great time for the Eagles to catch their breath.
Nine games into the regular season. They're exhausted, physical game today, no major injuries that I'm aware of, so I think the Eagles will say, look, we are gonna enjoy this next week. Don't matter. It doesn't matter if it's ugly or not. Today, who cares you don't get style points here, and then come back for these final seven games to feel really good about this football team. At the end of the day, it counts as a win, especially with
a week off. Great to have that kind of good taste in your mouth heading into a little bit of a break. Dave, thanks so much. We'll catch up with you later. All right, thanks guys. All right, Oh man, it's it's nice to be able to talk about a win for a couple of weeks. Guys. Well, I used to work with a coach who say after games like that, you say, it sure feels like it feels better than feeling like crap tomorrow. Yeah, that's exactly what you know. No one will remember in six days what this win
was like, all the matters. You got that w in the win column. Absolutely. Let's have a little bit about zach Ertz. He had a really good day today, some big plays. That fourth down with a spin move I thought was super exciting, and of course the touchdown. He had nine catches on eleven targets today, one hundred and three yards for zach Ertz a twenty five yard catch as well. I think that's one of the last second longest of his career. I think I saw that on
Twitter from our John Gnude. Their great game for the Eagles tight end up. Could you could say a bit of a breakout game for him this season? Yeah, And I think that was a big topic of discussion throughout the course of this week, over the last couple of weeks, is how did they get zach Ertz more involved? And the response had always been, well, you know, he's I mean, he was top five and tight ends in the NFL
in targets, he was being targeted. They just for whatever reason hadn't been able to hook up for sustained success in any one given game. And this was the game where you know, naturally possitively regressed back towards the zach Ertz. The production that works were used to from him at the tight end position, right and really in crucial situations.
I mean we're talking third and fifteen, or are third and fourth and two early in the game, third and one early in the game, two fifteen yard pickups on those first two drives that helped the Eagles put points on the board to start the game. And then obviously that touchdown catching him in the end zone. Some crucial situations, zach Ertz is able to come through. Yeah, a little bit of a different defensive game plan from the Bears.
You know, most of these defensive game plans have been centered around not allowing zach Ertz to really take over football games the way he has in years passed and credit the Carson all year long not trying to force the ball to him right. Obviously, as a quarterback, you know how much you can rely on the guy, and when things aren't going well on the outside, you almost want to be you almost want to go back to
your security blanket. But I give Carson a lot of credit of being able to sort of stay away from trying to force in the ball and just let it come to him naturally. And today there were some opportunities there to get in the ball and he was able to get it to him. Zach Ertz still one of the best tight ends in football. I don't understand the noise from the outside about on the ball to him
too much. Where I come from, you try to get the ball to your best players as much as you can, and zach Ertz is one of the best offensive weapons we have well, and it's about taking what the defense gives you and I think well said that. We've seen a lot of teams this week or this season play the Eagles and really gives Zach Ertz a lot of attention. He's been doubled team to multiple times this year. That's not you know, that's not what they got today today.
He was the guy who got things going. Let's talk about the play calling a little bit, because, like you, like you said, this sparts defense and different kind of defense than this team has faced before. They were able to really be aggressive and cause a lot of problems for the Eagles. What did you see from Doug Peterson in terms of his creativity taking what the defense gives them. I like the play calling from the day. You know, obviously there are some players they want to hit on.
There were some opportunities there against the team. Like the Chicago Bears, you have to be calculated when you take chances down the field. This team hadn't given up a play pass a play pass over twenty five yards all year long. They just don't give up deep balls, and you had better be patient as an offense or they'll take advantage of it because they're an opportunistic defense. I
thought the day the Eagles kept them off balance. They stayed true to their running game, but more importantly, they threw the ball on first down at times. Right, you know, coming into this game, most of us are thinking, stick to the running game, get the second and short, third and short, and then you try to throw the ball. What the Bears are thinking that as well? They load up the box for the run game on the first down.
I thought the Eagles game plan take advantage on the outside out routes to the Sean out routes to Al Sean. When they were able to catch the ball, the players were there, So I liked the game playing today. I thought, when you're planning against the depense like the Bears, you want to respect them, but you also want to challenge them. You just want to be smart about it. And I didn't think the ball was in harm's way very much
today from an offensive standpoint. Carson even at times took some negative plays because that's what needed to be done in that situation, not forcing the ball, just take what the defense gives you and literal fied another day. I mean that twenty five yard touchdown by Zach Ertz. That was the longest touchdown they've allowed all year Chicago. I mean that was they had not allowed to touchdown, run,
or pass of more than twenty yards. So to me, that kind of speaks to what we're talking about with this defense, the number that's going to bother them the most. In Chicago, the Eagles were eight of eighteen on third down down. I mean, I mean they were near fifty percent.
Talked about coming in here, Ques, that was what you were watching, Yeah, no question, I mean that's going to be a stat that they're going to look out tomorrow and say, man like, that's we could have had a lot better of an outcome if we had done better on third down. When the Eagles do a great job of taking her in the football today. No turnovers actually no, no, no, no no, they lost one fumble right, yeah, they lost late, yes, yeah, at the end. But yeah, a pretty clean game all around.
Let's talk about the offensive line and we talk another thing coming in here we were looking at was this matchup of Khalil Mack and everybody that was going to be matching up against him. But all eyes on Andrean Dillard,
the rookie with that start. When did you see at first at first glance from him in this matchup well, I will say this number one, It would be the number one thing that I'm most excited to watch tomorrow when studying the film is exactly what they did in terms of trying to you know, chip him and sliding protection and things like that. So I'll chart that for the Eagle line the sky column for tomorrow. But to me, the game plan we talked about the play calling earlier.
I mean it was damn near priture perfect early on. I mean you saw play action, you saw a quick game, you saw run game, you saw RPOs everything, missdirection, screen game things to keep them get the ball out quickly or at least keep the defensive line on their toes as a pass rusher. If you're Cleil Mac, you had no idea to just say we're just gonna dial us back and go. It's very, very hard to do that when the offense is mixing things up as well as
they were. Absolutely, and we know we talked also a little bit pre game about Jordan Howard facing his former team and just how great he's been here with the Eagles. Jordan Howard nineteen rushing yard or nineteen attempts, carries eighty two yards for a touchdown. Today against his former team, and he is one on one with Eagles insider Day of Spadaro. The Eagles running back Jordan Howard, A big game for you and obviously an emotional game. What was
it like out there against your former team? I mean, it was great just talking to those guys. I've been with it for like three years, so it was great. Just in him again. The way this offense performed today, the running game the last couple of weeks, it's really been there. Yeah, whatever it takes to win, that's what we're gonna that's what we're gonna do. So we gotta get him by any mains. Jordan, how do you feel at five and four about this team with a buy
week ahead? I feel great. Trying to get even healthier and just get on a roll. Eagles convert three third downs on that last drive. That was huge. The ability to execute there obviously kind of one football game. Oh yeah, definitely, because at first day was stoping. It was on third down, so what did it matter? We were able to get it, so does aut that matters? Jordan Howard, Thank you very much. Congratulations,
Eagles running thank you, Davey, thank you, Jordan. Really exciting I'm sure if this this win means a little extra something Tim and all Shone too, but it's a little bit fresher for Jordan Howard, who's been having a really great season here with the Eagles, a huge addition to
this offense, like yeah, starting to find his rhythm. It's clearly established himself as sort of your lead runner, getting to touches in between the tackles, and you're starting to see that the more carries you give him, he can start to wear down a defense, you know, and they're not going to be very many explosive plays. When you get the ball to Jordan, what you're gonna get great ball security. And the thing that I love about him, that Fran loved about him is that he typically falls forward.
There very few times where he's losing yardage and going backwards. He's typically falling forward. It's great to see him go up against his former team today, get a touchdown, do a nice job. So I mean, listen, we're formulating a nice one two punch here. It's rare in this league that you have sort of a three down back, so to have guys like Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders where you can sort of mix and match and keep defenses off balance. I think the Eagles are starting to establish
an identity in their running game. What is that like as a defender when you know you feel like you've got the guy. You know, I fit the run perfect, I read run pass, I got down him in my gap two yard game all right, I got I did my job and then you look up and like that guy game five? Yeah, Well what does that do to
you as a defender? Or it's the moralizing. It's the moralizing, right because you feel like you're in place, But when you're going against a guy like a Jordan or Eddie George or Brandon Jacobs, you know these guys, these guys. All right, coach is ready at the podium. Let's hear what he has to say after this win. Stand by stand by Peterson impressor Peterson impressor stand by coach Dallas.
Were you thinking at all? We get through these next two games, gets two pretty good teams, get to the buy and get a little healthier, get things a little bit back together. I know it's a one week at a time of league, but is that kind of what wait, you're sitting here right now thinking about it? Um, yeah. I mean, you know, obviously we didn't like how we played in the uh in the Cowboy game. Um just wasn't wasn't uh you know what we expected and and and just you know, we we I hate to look
down the road. I hate to look past the next opponent, obviously, but but we knew we knew, Um, we had a you know, a tough road schedule right there, three games in a row, and UM, but we looked up to and we said, hey, we can we can weather that storm. We got, you know, a couple of three games here at home, and um, we just try to take it one of the time, honestly, and we get guys healthy, get guys back offensively and defensively, and uh, and see what we can do. You know, you still got a
lot of trust. I still have a lot of faith and trust and the coaches and the players, and um, you know, we we were fortunate to get these last two. How was this Ton Jackson doing after coming out? Was at the plan? Like, what was the plan with DeShawn to? Um? Well, the plan was to play him, obviously, And so we're gonna we'll have some more testing done in the morning.
I'll have a probably more better update on him. But the plan was to was to play him you know, yeah, did he tweak himself versus precaution just precautionary right now, we'll get some more testing on him, find out tomorrow. Team after this plant going into the buy and getting some more been them for the rest of this Well, the first thing I told him was, you know, this is really a really good team win today all three phases.
We saw it on offense, we saw it on defense, and then of course special teams there at the end. And um, so a great, great team win, a way to finish out um you know, the first you know nine games of our season anyway, and and uh heading
into this buy. But you know, more importantly, I just challenged the team now with with some time off, you know, for everybody to really uh soul search, dig deep and come back and in a frame of mind that's ready to to continue what we what we sort of started here in the last couple of weeks, and just to challenge them that way, you know, to think about how we want this second half the season to look to look. Um. But I was really proud of the guys for for
battling today. It's a good football team. You know, the Bears are a good team. They're well coached, got great players, and um, you know, our guys hung in there and fought any feel for this team and flows so big you know throughout the season, brought you down. You feel
where you are. Um, you know, I just, um, what what I see with this football team and kind of what we've done, what we've gone through, some of the adversity we've been faced with with injury and all the you know, all the nitpicking here there on the outside from the media or whatever. Is this team. This team finds a way to stick together and to to battle.
And you saw it again today and and and I know the type of guys that we have, and it's guys that you know, I can trust my offensive line, I can trust my quarterback, I can put it in their hands. I can trust you know, the guys on the perimeter, our defense, Our defensive line is getting healthy
and added some some talent there. And I just things are starting to come for us, you know, And um, we just got to continue to trust our process, um and and and continue to build and grow and um, you know, just take it one at a time, one game at a time, and and um, you know, and see what happens the obviously a lot of UM collaboration
with players who were here for the Super Bowl. But you know, when you see someone like Miles come through and trust that process by into it as well, I wonder whether you feel like the foundational weeded that Super Bowl is a knock on effect for some guys who have come since. Well, obviously you know that's that's a it's a it's a great thing to accomplish in this league, and you know it's something that we can we can look back and we can sort of draw our strength
sometimes from that journey and what we went through. You know that year we were faced with adversity late in the season. You know that year as well the last two years and and uh kind of kind of that
same way at the beginning of this season. But you you constantly, for me, it's about you know, speaking the same language and and talking the same language to the team, and you know, being transparent with the guys and being honest with the guys, and you know, bringing new guys and whether the free agents where their draft picks, and then our culture just sort of surrounds those guys and then buy in and and they just help us continue to grow and and and win games like today, you know,
and and um, because it's not easy to win in this league. And I think sometimes people think it is you just can line up and go play, and it's not. Uh, it's not easy. And uh it's not easy to coach in this league. And it's it's hard. Um. But but just being able to buy into what we're what we're
all about. Uh, it's been been a tribute and a credit to the players that that we've brought in and the ones that are that have been here about the offense the second League and really a company basically had an eight minute drive to put away the games and Keith thurn Downs can be able to help pull them all for that long and basically put but I mean
we talk about that all the time. You know, we talk about our our four minute offense, and and you know, we really weren't in four minute mode, but we're in in that mode where an offensively, we kind of kind of sputtered there in the second half a little bit. You know, we had some opportunity and you know, we
we just didn't capitalize. But for them to kind of take it upon their shoulders to the defense was was fighting and battling and and and and doing their part, and um, the offense needed to go and it was time for them to go. And um again it goes back to you know, trusting the players, trusting the guys up front, trusting our quarterback, putting our guys in position
to make plays. And um, they did that. And it's it's a credit to go down and obviously you know, kick that field goal and then uh and get to get the ball, you know on the kickoff. But just a just a great effort for the offense or he creative did you have to get on those third gowns? Excuse me as a play call or hell creative that you had to get a third hands. We didn't have to get real creative. I just had to find the right play. And that's not easy either, you know. But uh, Mike,
Mike grow my coordinator, did a great job. We had great communication during a game, especially late in the game, and gave me some ideas, gave me some suggestion, some suggestions that to get to and and uh and and obviously they were they were plays that we went to and worked and so I gave him a lot of credit um in that situation, um to to really help and helping me out and um, you know, finding the right play and and again guys, guys made plays for
us and we needed that at the end. What did you see if that part of the game, does you got on screen? Call? Um? Well, I we we felt like that obviously. Um, you know they were you know, chance of you know obviously the rush getting after Carson and all that, and just take advantage of that and and and use a tight end screen in that situation, and um, gosh, it's just a great play. Well blocked.
I think you know, we we got one guy, one guy off of the off of h Dallas there and he was able to uh take it, you know, make the first down. But again well executed play. Um. Credit the guys. This was a breakout game for ERDs. What did you see in this matchup? What was what? How was Carson allowed to focus on him as much? You get the ball to him? Well, Zack's a big part
of our offense as we all know. And um, you know, I don't know if it's necessarily a breakout game, but he definitely was targeted a little bit more in this game. And and and rightfully. So, I mean he's he's a guy that can you know, uh, when you when you when you throw him the ball, he can he can catch it. And he did a great job today. And I think it was just a credit to the obviously to to Carson to find him. Um, he ran, he
ran really good routes today. He was tough, he was physical, made some made some contested you know catches and and that's that's whose acc is. And it was good to see you get a little bit of a break now and get to do some self scouting sort of backward other things. Is still mystify you a little bit about the way this season's gone so far that you want to dig into a little bit to make sure that
they don't recur. Yes, what are you already? Yes? I want um yeah, I mean I mean obviously, uh, we we do our we do our standard, you know, self self evaluation, self uh uh scouting. I mean we'll look at we'll look at third downs. Uh, you know, we'll look at red zone. U. We'll look at how we start games. You know, I got look at all of that. I'll even look at how we practice and if they need to make any changes in practice, and different things
that way. And it's and it's more so about the situations and how we're using guys and then and then
breaking all that down. So we can not have a lot of tendencies moving forward, but we can kind of um and not not start over, but at the same time try not to give our opponents any advantage that way, playing a lot of one high making eventually really try to move us on meeting you guys, what do you want to have a well, UM, you know our defense plays a lot of one high defense and UM, you know that's that's part of Jim's Jim's background in his m O. Uh. You know, we we we definitely wanted
to UM. It felt like we could get after get after him a little bit, put pressure with our defensive line, which which we did earlier in this game, and you know, play a little bit more man to man and and just just make things harder. UM. When you can do that, I think it's a carryover from from last week. You
know in the Bills game. Our defense did that, UM, and and it's it is a credit to the d line though, uh, putting putting pressure with our four and then some of the blitz package is being able to get home and disrupt some timing yards is a defensive two minutes ago when I happen say that again, Never been in a game where your defense is allowed negative to ten yards two minutes ago? I don't. I don't think.
So they played well today. They played well today minus a couple of big you know it's close the plays in the second half, they played really well. Okay, okay. Coach says he's giving his team the charge due some soul searching during the by week and kind of think about what they want their identity to be in this second half. Where do you see the team's identity right now, let's go big picture for a second. Well, I think
they're trying to still find their identity. They're starting to find a little bit of it offensively with their running game, But I still think from a passing game standpoint, they don't necessarily know who they are and what they want to be because in part it's inconsistency in the passing game. Right If you know where you're going to get every time you drop back and throw the ball, then you
can start to establish an identity. But when you have drops, when you have protection, breakdowns and things of that nature's hard to establish an identity from a passing standpoint, So I think it's something that through nine games, because a personnel hasn't been available to them on both sides of the ball, it's really kind of been hard to find that identity. It's great that they're starting to get everybody back.
You get a week to extra week to compare with the bye week coming up, so I think they can figure out what they want to do through these last seven games. And also, this was the most difficult part of their schedule, right they make it through it. Over five hundred the second part of the schedule I think sets up well for them. They just have to go out there and take advantage of it. Yeah, I think to your point, I mean every team in the NFL.
I know it's tough for fans sometimes to make this connection, but every team every year has to find their identity and that's really what the first quarter, the first third of the season is all about. Okay, who are we on both sides of the football. Are we are we a run team? Are we a pass team? Are we a quick game team? Or we're gonna strike downfield? How do we want to try and attack you every team every year has to go No team is alike from year after year, so you want to try and figure
out who you are. And the first half of year is all about stacking wins. They got five wins to start the season. Now you got to go out and say, okay, how we're gonna play down the stretch. This this is the first time that this coaching staff can kind of put put the brakes on and say, okay, let's see what's worked really well for us, because you don't have that ability when you're game planning for other teams and
you're worried about what are you doing tomorrow. Now you can say, okay, what's working for us, how do we fine tune it, what do we improve on? Now, let's go and win the final seven. Well, the other thing people always forget about this time of year is teams that are built for the long haul, are built for the winter, are built for the cold weather games, and we always see those teams have the most success. And so that's not the same formula that usually works early
in the year. Yeah, I was just gonna say. And the good thing for the Eagles they had the running game to match that and a defense that plays well against the run. Those are two things you want when it comes to November and December. That's the formula run game and the defense. Let's get to your takeaway, Sanke, Well, we talked about the big win, right Obviously, getting to win going into the bye week I think was very important. You know this stretch coming off they rode three game
road trip, when they lost two out into three. They got the big win to finish up the road. Gag a road stretch with Buffalo last week. You wanted to make sure you go into the bye week feeling good about yourself. No way you want to sit an extra week with a loss under your belt. Is yet becomes too difficult, especially with the defending Super Bowl champions waiting on you after the bye week. So I thought it was critical that they get this win against what I
view as an inferior opponent at home. You had to get this w today. I think that's the first big takeaway I take away from this game is that they managed to take care of business at home. I think, especially kind of building off that point and what I was trying to say just before, it's all about trying to find ways to win. How are they one are the different ways that you can win games. You know, are you gonna be able to you know, you want to prove that you can win a game running the ball.
You want to be able to prove that you can win a game with great defense. They've shown that they've been able to win games in different ways, and I think that that's been important. And to your guys point, you want that defense, you want that run game. I'll also take great head coaching and great quarterback play. Eagles
have proven that they have both of those as well. Yeah, checking all those boxes and of course I know it's going to be just a lot more fun, positive vibes around these four walls with that wind going into the by weekend this morning. Yeah, and we need it. I mean, listen, it's been a up and down first half of the season. Some games that you know you had right in your grasp and if you just were able to make the plays late in the games, your record will look a
whole lot different. So I know, from a players standpoint, those are some of the things you can draw on when you're trying to figure out whether or not this team has what it takes to make a run in the second half. There are a lot of positive things from this first half, but then there are some reminders that you have to make sure are also in your mind, not to where it hampers you, but to a point where it's just a reminder that this is where we could go back to it if we don't continue to
pay attention to all the small details. Right, that's what they need to do coming down the stretch. I thought in the first nine games, too much sloppy play, penalties, turning over the ball at times. If you look at the four losses, look at the penalties and the turnovers in those games. That'll tell you how they ended up with four losses in the first nine games. All right, let's you mentioned Carson. I thought his play wasn't necessarily
spectacle of to day. Did what he needed to do, made big throws, could have used a little help from those those weapons on the outside. I thought he put the ball in position where his guys can make some plays, and as every quarterback will tell you every week, there's a couple throws he would like to have back. But I thought his biggest part of the game came with the final drive of the game, right when he had to make plays on third down, make the right decisions
on third down. And it's not easy when you lose a guy that you expect to have, like the Shawan Jackson after the first series of the game, then lose Alshon Jeffrey at the most critical time of the game. And Carson didn't blink, found the way to make plays, gave his weapons an opportunity to make plays, and more importantly against this defense, took care of the football today. Well look a lot of those balls went right through
there and shout out the quarterback. Yeah, the one that's people that final drive, I mean the thirties a third and eight, right around midfield, third and eight, they take a false start penalet So now it's third and thirteen. Carson Wentz drops back, doesn't like what he sees downfield, gets quickly to his check down to Miles Sanders, puts it out early enough that he can now get up field cree yards after catch, and he goes for a first down. That's the kind of quarterback layer talking about.
It was a really nice moment from him there. What about your third takeaway? And then we started to show by talking about Andre Dillard and the job he did on Khalil Mack over there today. I mean until Khalil mac tackled Jordan Howard out of bounds in that fourth quarter late, I didn't know Khalil Mack was playing today.
I mean, that's that's the type of job they not only Dillard, but this offensive line did and containing Khalil make My biggest concernan coming into this game was he has the ability to disrupt your whole offense if he can get to the quarterback. And I was wondering how they were going to sort of scheme him up. As two games in a row going against the Bears in the playoffs last year and then this game today that they've been able to neutralize arguably the best pass rusher
in football. Well, again, I'm looking at Khalil Max's stats right here. Four tackles, four of them were combined. One quarterback hit two tackles for a last friend. Yeah, I think it kind of speaks to, you know, it's easier to trying to get an edge rusher than it is a guy like a Fletcher Cox or Eric Donald on
the inside. It's easier to kind of give those guys help on the outside as opposed to you know, interior there's only so much you can do and trying to say, Okay, we're gonna stop a guy like Fletcher, and they lined him up just about everywhere. They were trying to get him free, trying to find and you know, you would think Andre Dillard would be the guy because he is
the youngest one on that offensive line. So if he moves somewhere else, that means he wasn't having success against Let's get stuff there as you talk about, you know, the interior defensive line. I think on the eagle side of things, I thought Fletcher Cox really seemed to come alive today. What did you guys see from him? I thought Fletcher, along with Brandon right, these guys the last two weeks, you need these You need your star players
to step up and sort of lead to charge. And we know if the Eagles defense is going to have any opportunity to slow down offenses, it's going to start up front and being able to control that running game. It starts with number ninety one. And when number ninety runner is being disruptive. You know, sometimes it doesn't show up in the stat sheet, but I vividly remember three or four plays where he just took the guard and
just walked him back and took Mitchell Chubisky's laugh. Sometimes it led to a sack for someone else, sometimes it led to an errand pass. But ninety one was being heard from out there to day. So after the commercial break, I'm going to break down Jenard Avery's first half a sack as an Eagle, and I took a little bit of a look at it before I came over the studio. I was like, all right, let me just see what I can kind of think about a little bit before
I break it down. Let me just say the Fletcher cocks a little bit of an impact, a little bit of an impact dinner or something like that. I mean you could say the same about Brandon Graham's sack as well, which, by the way, Brandon Graham has six six sacks of season. That's he had four last all last season. So yeah, I think Brandon over the last four or five weeks have really just taken off, I mean, feeling comfortable out there. He certainly looks healthy, usually in the backfield, great against
the run, had another tackle for loss today. Just happy to see that. You know, a lot of his quarterback pressures and quarterback hurries are turning into sacks because Brandon pretty much has laid the league and getting close to the quarterback and getting hurries and hits on him. Those quarterbacks tending to get rid of the ball before he gets there. I think the last month or so he's been able to bring those guys down and I'm sure that's rewarding for him. We saw some cool things too
from a pressure standpoint from the Eagles this week. I thought Josh schweat sack, it looked like the Dirk Barnett came in, cleaned off the opposite side, looked like they were running some kind of a stunt or a twist there. I think with the addition of Jennard Avery, who's a really explosive, twitchy pass rusher that can you know, bend and yeah and kind of beat you from all different angles, I'm excited to see what this Eagles defense now. You know, we talk about the bye week and what are they
able to do. This defense now is healthy. I mean, they're getting all their horses back at the right time because now they can go into the bye week and say, Okay, we got we've got Tim Jarnagin back, We've got Jalen Mills and round Derby back, we have a Vante Maddox back. We're gonna get Nigel Bradham back. We've got the new addition of Jennard Avery. What is this defense? What can we now do? We've got a little bit of time to prepare. Absolutely. As a side note, I was gonna say,
let's talk about Tim Jernigan's impact. Carson Wentz is about to take the podium. But as a side note and a fun fact, twitchy is one of my favorite adjectives to describe an NFL player because there's really just it's you know, there's only that one word, fun words saying it just describes exactly that kind of thing. All right, we are about to hear from quarterback Carson Wentz on
his win against the Chicago Bears. We know that he did not He was on the sideline the last time the Eagles beat the Bears in the playoffs, so really interested to hear his experience the first time facing the spare's defense this year and uh getting a win over the over Chicago um which needed a much needed wind. We'll see if he's rocking the black like the rest of us are. We know they had the all black
uniforms today we'll see, uh and here he comes. Well kind of all right, thir Miles said that when you hit him with the swing pass that he had blocking responsibilities first one'd you guys seem pretty snapped. That kind of made you turn to him first. Yeah, I mean they were playing really soft his own coverage, um, and Miles was just chipping them the helping chip to d N and then had a flat route and um, I just saw him kind of get really deep and um,
try to play fast and get it to him. And yeah, he made a great play the second week in a row with an ain't bitted drive the fourth quarter and kind of word. I mean, it's huge. It's what we it's our recipe, you know, it's what we want to do and finished games like that. Um, obviously there and you know, the third quarter a little bit, we kind of got a little stagnant and stuff, but um, you know,
we stayed with it. We stayed with it. We grinded it out and picked up a bunch of key third downs and I moved the ball in the game and that was huge for us. Sean didn't play very long, but when he was in there, did you feel that that wasn't so congested and he shortly intermediate there is hard to say, hard to say, I mean he was only out there a little bit, and um, but you know it was it was a spark when he was,
you know, regardless of what he was doing. So, UM, you know, hopefully he'll be fine and getting back out there. Did you say anything, No, al Sean after a couple of drops there, I just told him coming right back, coming right back to him. You know, it's it's it's part of football. It's part of the game. You know, we're gonna make mistakes, and UM, nothing but confidence in him when when he does do that that I'm gonna come right back to him, much like we did on
that third down later in the game. He made a great play Dallas Goddar screen their own. Yeah, it was a great call. Uh, you know, obviously it worked out great, and then Dallas did a tremendous job of creating separation and I was kind of back there just trying to find the lane to get get him the ball. And um, that first down was was huge for us and came up came up big in that in that situation orlotivating connectionally earth so that um, hard to say exactly why.
You know, I think my connection with zach Is is always, you know, really solid, really strong. You know, some weeks it just shows up out there more than others, you know, but when he's there, when he when he's called upon, nothing but confidence in him every single time. And um, you know, just kind of the way they were playing defensively, Um, you know, kind of led us to to use him
a little bit more. And you know he was you know, a primary like he has oftentimes, but um, you know, it worked out really well for us, and he made some great places. Evaluate yourself every game like this, How much way do you putting on your performance in that final drive, the fact that you guys were able to move the ball when you did, and if you don't you might lose the game. Do you stand back and say, I did what I'm supposed to do when I'm supposed
to do it. I mean, you know that's a very deep, you know question. There there's levels to that, But you know, coming out of the game, you just kind of want to, um, just critique everything. You know, there's throws I left out there early in the game, later in the game plays we left out there as an offense and so um. But but at the end of the day, being able to sustain that drive and that's what we have to do. That's what good football team's, good offenses have to do.
Stay in the field comfort, you know, grind the clock out like we did, and that was that was really big Forcene reach. There's third down the play and do you feel like there's a difference. Who are slower in your thought process as you can figure out those things compared what do you mean, I'm sorry, as you figure out the right player making on third down, how to play force inferenstives and you know, I do feel lators and that lotion. Um. You know, again, it's kind of
neither here nor there. You know, it's just based upon what what the defense has given me, what they're showing, and also a lot of respect for the pass rushers that they have, you know, and not wanting to stand back there and hold the ball all day, and um,
get it up to our playmakers. So if it's Miles in the flat on third and thirteen, that's what we're gonna do, you know, And he was able to make play and um, that's just kind of how this offense is and just you know, we want to play fat, want to read fast, and guys are playing fast out there. Giving that the sputtered a little bit and say what was the message going into that last drive the team also, Yeah, just stay together, stay together, and just finish the game.
You know, at the end of the day. Um, like you said, we had a little dry spell there. We you know, didn't capitalize a couple of third downs, didn't stay on the field and UM put our defense in some tough spots a couple of times, and then they stepped up, made some plays and UM, but it was just a stay together. You know. We had those long sustained drives early in the game. We basically said, hey, we need one more of these, one more of those
go down to score, and we were able to. You know, we didn't score, but we got the field goal, and the kind of sealed the deal. Was the key playing that drive. Boy, that's a that's a big question. I'd just say those third downs, you know, obviously being able to stay on the field on you know whatever however we did, um, just hand the field on those third downs.
Those are huge for us at break. Now, where do you think the team is compared to where you were, say a couple of weeks ago coming out of Dallas, where you guys just saying, hey, let's get to the break, let's maybe when a couple games against co good teams and then yeah, it's aboutment from there. Where How do you feel where you are right now? Yeah, I mean I think we all feel feel good about where we're at.
You know, again, there's there's things the last two weeks that we we've left out there for sure, But to be able to go against two good football teams, um and come away with a win, Um, you know, defense playing great, offensively, sealing the deal late in the game
on both these last two weeks. Um, I think it gives us a lot of confidence going in the bye week, and um, you know we were able to you know, whether the storm of you know, those couple of losses and um kind of everything going on and everyone stayed together and you know, it's been h I've really liked what I've seen from everybody, and you know, we're a
lot of confidence going forward. So forward, what purpose we like to see if the right season being big band well in the playoffs, Yeah, I mean, we just got to be able to stay on the field. You know, I think early in the game, you know, we had a couple of third downs that we didn't execute, you know, late into the game third quarter. Um, same thing. You know, we got to be able to stay on the field, convert. You know, we want to want to be able to
create some big plays again. Um, and uh, you know, I think we'll just keep getting better with that pliables being able to absure not just the pay. So the mentality of this team is so clear to be how do you see her doing? Yeah, I mean he's been great. I can't say enough, you know, really good things about about him and really all the running backs, you know, Jordan Howard him, you know, it was nice to get
Scrolls back out there. Um. But just the way he's coming as a rookie, just willing to learn, you know, willing to learn. We've asked a lot of him from obviously running the ball, catching the ball out of the backfield, picking up protections. UM, put a lot on his plate, and he's really handled everything well and been able to make a lot of splash plays, a lot of big plays for for this offense. And uh, you know I
love going to work with that guy. Well, I thought a little bit about the performance of your offensive line and how they were able to contain Khalil Mack especially, but they have some really good pass rushers and how they were able to contain them for the most part. Yeah, that's off to our line. You know. That's you know last week as well, um being able to just establish the run game and today, um, both in the passing game and on the ground. Those guys are moving guys,
you know, moving guys giving me time. Um, And they played great. That's an impressive front that they had to go up against with you know a lot of playmakers and uh, they handle it really well. Or the middle of that last round, how much you a pair of the interchanging personnel versus you know what players? Yeah, I
mean I don't fully know why they're out. I just I see who's in the huddle with me, you know, and we don't have time to to think or were we just we just play ball, you know, and guys are just kind of running there and fill in and we're making plays, you know, And um, that's that's the tough part of football. But guys is a good job
stepping up. Well, you guys have that running game. Are you a better offense within union, especially the last thing better, you know, without a doubt, you know, without a doubt. I mean I think every I think every team in the NFL would say they're they're a better team when they're able to establish the ground game. You know, I think that's just um the recipe you know, to to open up the passing in the play action, the bootlegs,
all of that. Um. And you know, like I said earlier, hats off to are big guys up front for forgetting that going um, which just helped open up some things about the team from a big fixture perspective. Nine games. How about you? How do you feel like you're playing at this point in the season. Yeah, I mean, like
I said, there's there's always plays I want back. You know, there's always stuff I'm gonna go watch the tape and kick myself from, you know, making a missing a call, missing you know, physically missing the throw, um all of those things. But um, you know those are definitely things I can keep cleaning up and just keep building the chemistry with all these guys. You know, we got you know a lot of guys changing out and then um, just keep building the chemistry and UM, but I can
definitely play better. And I think as an offense will just keep getting better. Is good too, I think too, right, I mean yeah, I mean there's there's obviously lots of good stuff on the tape too and um but but like I said, we just want to keep you know, finding ways to stay on the field and make big plays. Um. And you know, I think offensively, we can just keep getting better for us. Thank you, guys. Okay, casual Friday vibes there for Carson was I said, it's that bye week,
bye week outfit, bye week outfit. Yeah, he's gonna go have a nice little a little bit of time off, well deserved. I'm sure. Let's just talk about his performance a little bit today. We did touch on it a little bit, but when it comes to the fourth quarter, just remaining unshakable. You know, it was a kind of an ugly winning, a hard fought win. Nothing came easy, but Carson Wentz still able to do things at the
end of the game. I mean, this has been a group of tough defenses that he has faced over the last couple of weeks. You know, you look at this defense, you look at at Buffalo last week, you look at Dallas the week before Minnesota, the week before that. I mean, it's been a stretch of really good defenses. So to see Carson come out and perform in this way, the
numbers aren't always going to look great. I know he didn't win fantasy games for you this week, but ultimately he came out and played very efficient football, put the ball where it needed to be. You saw some drops and some key moments that deflated some of the numbers at the end, and didn't turn it over. Yeah, I think that was most important against his Bears defense. They're so opportunistic, they thrive on getting short fields for that offense.
So the fact that the Eagles, particularly Carson Wentz, able to take care of football today, I thought that was huge. And then you watch him in the fourth quarter. You know when they put these stats up about come from behind wins and being clutch, and it isn't any other
in the fourth quarter. I mean, to me, it was clutch in the fourth quarter, but that won't go down as a fourth quarter sort of clutch win when it really was on that final drive three for three on third down, using his legs, using his arm, without two of his top receivers out there. I mean, he was big when he needed to be big, and there was no other time that he needed to be bigger than that final drive of the game. All Right, we need to create a tangible clutch stat for the NFL. Yeah,
there's a real actual clutch shot in the NBA. We should make one for the for the NFL and for Carson Wentz especially. All Right, as always, we have Doug Pearson one on one with Mike Quick. Let's take a listen to what the coach I'd say after this one for school's congratulations. You started the game out with your deep threat to Shawan Jackson in the game. But how big of an adjustment when he had to come out
and he couldn't play any longer. Well, we you know, we obviously have a backup plan in that case, and then you know, you're hoping that he could play the whole game. But um, you know, we basically just had to had to go back to to you know, um, what we had done the previous you know, eight weeks and and and let's just get guys in position and something we talk about during the week. But you know,
definitely wanted to get him involved in this game. We were hoping that he could play, you know, the entire game. We'll see where he's at this week and and uh, you know, hopefully he'll be ready in a couple weeks. With what's you're starting, You're doing the run game in Jordan Howard and Mouse Sanders. How big is that in terms of especially in a game like this, Well, it is. It's big, um, And it's big especially down the stretch
when you can control the game. You know, when you when you have the lead and um, you know again, I credit credit the offensive line, the tight ends. They do a great job of sustaining blocks, playing on their side of the line of scrimmage, and and and and moving, you know, moving, moving guys out of there. And then and then the backs are patient enough to find the lanes and then having enough burst to really get four or five six yards in a play. You saw it
with nice lead. Then they come back with fourteen points. We got a little bit nervous after that. So how do you get the team back on track when the momentum starts to swing the other way? Yeah, I mean, you know, it's one of the things where you know, we gotta make sure that we don't lose focus. You know, in those situations. And obviously the offense came out of the second half and we went right down and scored the touchdown that was big to put us up nineteen
at that point. But and then we can't just lose focus. We got to make sure we um continue to play. Are a lot of football ahead of us in this game, you know, and again this is uh, this is a good football team. And then um, they did some nice things offensively that two big explosive plays that really kind of got them back into this football game. And then something we got to evaluate as we move forward. You mentioned explosive plays. Is that a part of the losing
focus that you mentioned? Sometimes it can be you know, whether it's a bust of coverage or lack of a communication on the on the deep ball, um, how how running back gets it gets that wide open. Those are all things that sometimes gets kind of lost in the shuffle. And we got to figure out why and why the why the communications you know, broke down in those situa and and and fix it as we move forward. Early in the game, the Bears couldn't do anything offensively. Fletcher
Cox is now healthy. How big is that for your defense? It's big? You could see it today. His get off um was tremendous. And he is feeling good. I would say he's not He's not one hundred percent obviously this time of year, but he is feeling better. And um, he is such a big part of that defensive line, you know, being aggressive to uh come off the ball as quick as he does, put pressure, you know, on the quarterback. It's just good to see him back to
his old self. Now you get to breathe a little bit. You got the bye week. What does the head coach goo during the bye week, Well, we spend these first first half of the week and we look at our next next opponent, obviously the Patriots, and then and then spend some time just self self scouting, self evaluation, and and try to break down all our tendencies and see if there's there's anything that we're putting out there that
we can, uh we can get better at. And and it's something that uh, um, you know, as a staff, offense, defense and special teams, we got to do that and and uh really you know, and then take some time. We as coaches too need to take time and rest and be fresh for the next seven games. I know it's always better to go off and the bye with the wind. So congratulations, enjoyed the bye. All right, thanks Mike,
All right, thank you, Mike, Thank you, coach. I think we are all looking forward to a little bit of time off, and of course that self scouting process that coach Doug Peterson mentioned going to be very critical over the next couple of weeks with the New England Patriots waiting on the other side of the bye. Let's go back to this win over Chicago though, and we know we always love to get a closer look inside the
booth with Mike and Merrill. Here's Merril Kim from this Eagles win, wing to the nearest side, slot to the far side. Second of five, handoff again to Montgomery and he's thrown for a loss. They were all over Montgomery is he tuck? My hand off and rushing us to the backfield was Brandon Graham and he spills him for a loss of three wins. Looking for the football fakes, he looks, he steps up, he fires complete and it is a touchdown. Zack Hurtz. It is third and ten,
shotgun slot to either side. Eagles lead twelve. Nothing back goes Trabisky. He has head he is buried. They've got him again and inside the twenty five. On the very first play for Avery as a Philadelphia Eagle, they blitz him off the edge and he hits home and it's a gift to Jordan Howard. He breaks a tackle. He's at the thirty five, he's at the forty and he is up to the forty four yard line. What a run by Jordan Howard, how about seventeen yards? Just love
the way this young man runs the football. On first down, it is a hand off Howard up the middle five and for the touchdown. Jordan Howard thirteen yard runner. That's how you clear an alley. Here is a huge play for the Eagles defense. Bears with a slot to the far side. Montgomery the single setback. It's third nine. Rabiesky fakes, he rolls, he's back, he fires, and it's incomplete and tended for Shaheen. They folded the tight end and it
was knocked down by Avontae Maddox. Man that's a little guy, but boy he plays big Avonte Maddox in a big situation going up and getting the ball away from the big tight end. Shaheim big big play with twenty five seconds left. Elliott pooches it and the Bears come up, but bounces around and the Bears are after picking it up. They fumble it, fight for the football. I think the Eagles have it back. The Eagles have recovered it, and that's the game. Duke Riley on the football as he
poots punted it. It bounced picked up by one of the Bears up men, and the Eagles come away with the ball. It was picked up or tried to picking it up, was Adam sheheen. Yeah, and that's gonna do it with twenty three seconds left. Always my favorite part of the show. I don't care what anybody says. In fact, I'm feeling extra inspired. And do you think that we could get like a behind the scenes like of our show? It would probably not be as Funa, I would say,
definitely not as fun. Definitely not as fun. There's always like a random like spider that I find that's always very scary, not terribly exciting. Um friend, we will catch up with you in a little bit for the RICO review. Do you want to give us a little little teeth? We'll talk a little bit about that. Genard Avery Sack. a look. Okay, get ready, Okay, thanks Amy, We're gonna break down the third down sack here by Jenard Avery and Malcolm Jenkins. A split sack here from those two guys late in the second quarter. Really good design. But I'll tell you who this place starts with. It starts with the threat of this man right here. That's number ninety one, Fletcher Cox. Opposing offenses always have to respect what he's able to do and how he's able to take over a game. I want you to look at
what the Eagles are presenting here pre snap. You've got Brandon Graham, Josh Sweat, and Jannard Avery. All three of these guys lining up off the football and potential pass rushing positions one, two, three guys all that side that should be sending alarm bells for Mitch Drobiski in the offensive line that you know what, they're probably running some kind of a pressure, some kind of a stunt something over to that side. I don't trust it. We should
slide protection that way. Conventional wisdom would say you probably want to do that, but Chicago does not do that. Instead, they're gonna take their center James Daniels, and he is going to slide towards number ninety one Fletcher Cox. This is all the respect in the world towards one of the best interior defensive players in the league. They're gonna slide protection this way to make sure that you essentially
have a double team on Fletcher. What that means is is that you now have man to man protection on this side with two offensive lineman and your rookie running back David Montgomery trying to handle three defensive ends in some kind of a stunt or twist. The Eagles are gonna send Jannard Avery inside. He's gonna get home on this stunt. We're gonna let this run. The other guy to watch is twenty seven Malcolm Jenkins. He actually sees that the running back stays in for protection and he
takes off a green Dog Blitz. Huge play for this Eagles defense. You saw the versatility from Avery, you saw the smarts there from the veteran Jenkins, but it all started with the respect the teams have to pay to Fletcher Cox. Just a really cool play to break down. Always great stuff there from Fran and very exciting to see the new Eagles defensive ent already making some noise in that Eagles defense. When we come back, We've got the nominees for the Toyota Player of the Week. Don't
miss your chance to win a free at Toyota. We'll see in a minute. Are you on the road and night the road Vine was rocky. Ain't nothing gonna break my stride. Sometimes we prosper most when we help others. We respect that because it's Santon, their bank. Respect as a that's hard to the attic. No in the basement, like can't we just get in the running car? Are you crazy? Let's tip behind the chainsaws smart. Yeah, if you're in a horror movie, you make poor decisions. That's
what you do. Being on me. If you want to say fifteen percent of more on car insurance, you switched the gay goo. It's what you do now is your chance to vote for the Toyota Player of the Week. Go to Philadelphia Eagles dot com slash Toyota Player of the Week to cast your vote and get a chance at a brand new Toyota. This week's nominees for Toyota Player of the Week against the Bears Zach Ertz, Brandon Graham, and Jordan Howard, three well deserving Eagles. Cast your vote today.
I think for me it's it's zach Ertz with a little hundred yard performance, twenty five yard touchdown there like what you got? I think I like that, Amy, we think a right here for this one. You gotta go with zach Ertz breakout game of the season four him nine catches, over a hundred yards and a touchdown. Pretty sure. A lot of fantasy owners have been waiting to see this zach erst as they become accustomed to. So yeah, my vote would have to go to the offensive guy. Yeah,
all three of these guys. A great day. Another sack for Brandon Graham, and of course Jordan Howard continues to daddy as you go productive and to continue to get those nominations. All right, as we put a bow on Chicago, we have a buy everyone's excited about it. If you haven't heard, we've been talking about it all day. And the New England Patriots on the other side of it, they play the Ravens to night. They're a perfect eight. No,
they will be facing the Ravens tonight. And then it's a little bit of a one two punch there with the Seahawks, and then you got some you know, every opponent is to be respected, but then you got a couple of the Dolphins who got their first win today, so you know they're they're not off to the best start herecause we look ahead to the second half of the season. We're at the halfway point now, just over the halfway point with the Eagles at five and four.
What's the outlook for this team? Well, I think the outlook is positive as long as they can continue to build off the last two weeks, continue to get healthier. I think the passing game will have to become a little bit more consistent as they go down to stretch here, especially if you're talking about beating the Patriots in the Seahawks, those are two teams that play very good defense. Is going to be very hard to be a one dimensional
team against those teams. So I think coming right out of the bye week, we're gonna find out exactly where we are. When you get two of the greatest of all time, no not two of the two greatest of all times at their prospective positions and Bill Belichick and Tom Brady coming in, I think it's a great measuring stake coming out of the bye week at home to
see exactly where you are. I'll tell you what, Amy, I know that crowd will bring their a game and the Eagles being well rested going into that game, I can't wait get get rested up this week during the bye week, but that those seven days leading up to that game at four twenty five against the Patriots, Yeah,
that's gonna be a good one. Well, and the Eagles are not the only team going to be well rested that day because the Patriots have the same bye week is the Eagles, So both of these teams have a little bit of time off, and you know they're going
to be making adjustments to get even better. Which it's crazy to say, but even though they are undefeated right now, their defense has really been what's doing it for them, which is not the classic New England that we're used to seeing their offense is still really trying to find their identity, a lot of turnover at the receiver position.
Quite frankly, who set the Patriots schedule, Bill Belichick? I mean, my goodness, the toughest games will be tonight against the Baltimore Ravens, and then coming out of their bye week, the second toughest game will be at against the Eagles. So the Patriots, you know, it does it does listen, it becomes a team. Well, I mean, obviously playing this team in the Super Bowl, we know what it's like. You you almost have to play a perfect game, and that's what they were able to do in Super Bowl
fifty two. To beat that team, you won't. You're gonna need something very similar because that's just how the Patriots are. They rarely beat themselves. So it's I think it's an advantage for the Eagles coming out of the bye week, getting ready for them being at home. So it'll be exciting. Yeah, And as you said, that game set for four twenty five kickoff for twenty five pm kickoff, which means that we will be back here thirty minutes before kickoff as
always at three fifty five pm on November seventeenth. That's my sister's birthday. That'll be an extra special day for us here on the postgame show, and yes we will be The kickoff show will be at three fifty five as always on November seventeenth. Everyone have an awesome bye week. You got any plans, No, just keep working. No bye week for me, Bye week for me. Grind every day, no days off. We play like a champion. I don't know if throwing every clash. They all sound good. It's
good to have a win. It's good to go into the bye with a win. We will see you November seventeen, three fifty five pm. Until then, Fly Eagles Fly,
