M enough to overcome a slow start by the defense to come out with a thirty four to twenty nine victory. Hello everyone, I welcome to the postgame show presented by Rico, Chris McPherson, Jordan alongside former Eagles linebacker Ike Reece. We can all breathe a sigh of relief. Of all the scenarios we could have figured coming into this game, we did not think about a last second Giants attempt there

to possibly win the game coming to fruition. Fortunately the defense is able to stand tall struggle throughout most of the day. But like there are no style points when it comes to victories. The Eagles are twelve and two now on the season and they have clinched a first round buying the playoffs. Are you surprised this game came down to the wire? Curs? I mean, this is what the Eagles and Giants do to us, especially up there in the Meadowlands. Great victory by the Eagles certainly wasn't

easy by any stretch of imagination. Plenty of coaching points. I'm sure the coaches will get through this week, particularly on the deepensive side of the ball. But like you mentioned a second ago, this isn't college football, so style points don't matter here. You get to w the Eagles have clinched the bye week. That's certainly what they wanted to do still in the hunt for clinching home field advantage. Great w by the team. Nick Foles and his first

start since returning to the Eagles flawless performance. I don't know if you could asked for anything more for four touchdowns thrown, no turnovers. More importantly, did what he needed to do, and late in the game they were able to put three points on the board, a much needed three points late in the game to sort of give the Eagles a five point lead and forced the Giants to have to score a touchdown. Like I said, not a thing of beauty, but what do you expect when

the Eagles and the Giants get together. I'm just glad there were no miracles. That was the biggest thing for me. We do not need to be on the opposite end of a miracle with the way the Eagles season has gone to this point. So it really took all three phases. Nick Foles leading the way on offense with four touchdowns.

The defense struggled through out most of the day, but they got some key plays, including Ronald Darby with a huge interception in the second core to kind of bring the Eagles to life at their down by a big deficit, and special teams really coming through huge, especially when you factor in the Eagles won by five points. Okay, Derek Barnett blocked an extra point attempt. Malcolm Jenkins blocked the field goal attempt. That's four points right there at the

end of the game. When Eli Man is going for on four down and incomplete past the Titan Evan Ingram in the back of the end zone. It could have just been the field goal attempt that could have put the Giants ahead. That made all the difference in the world. And you forgot about the block punt a touchdown earlier for the Eagles to get back in this game. You rarely see three blocks from a special teams unit in any game, so that was certainly spectacular from the third

phase of the game, and three much needed blocks. I mean, these aren't just just cushion points the Eagles were able to get. They needed all of those blocks that they have. I mentioned the block punt. Black Kamu helped set up a touchdown to get the Eagles back into the game early in the first half, the block extra point forcing the Giants to go for two later, which also cast them because they didn't get the extra point conversion, and then the block field goes. So really an all around

effort from all three phases. Can't leave out Derby's interception that helped set up the touchdown. I don't know if it was the block punt or the interception by Derby that allowed the Eagles to take the lead twenty one to twenty, but those two plays in the first half about the special teams unit and the defense were certainly huge. This Eagles team, the word we've used all year long has been resilient, and once again they had to prove that resiliency by following twenty to seven in the first

half of this ball game. The three drives, first three drives for the Giants all resultant touchdowns, and you're saying to yourself, this is a Giants offense that doesn't have its top playmakers and Brandon Marshall Odell Beckham junior. They've struggled on offense throughout the course of the entire season. They scored just ten points last week, and a hard fought effort against the Dallas Cowboys. You figure, if the Eagles defense comes to play, they should be able to

handle this team with ease. Unfortunately that wasn't a case. What did you see from the Eagles defense, even especially with the fact that it's the same Giants offense that we've seen throughout the course of the years. Eli man gets rid of the ball quickly. You see Alive slants them, Slaton goes. Obviously some double moves there to get the Eagles defensive backs off kilter, but nothing different from this

Giants offense than what we've seen in the past. Yeah, they ran Harry up offense a lot of what they did to get back in that first game of the Eagles and Giants week three of the season. And let's give Eli some credit. He was on today. I mean, Eli is still a future Hall of Fame quarterback and when he gets into a rhythm, he can start to pick you apart. And that's really what you saw happening today.

Their game plan was trying to get the ball in the hands of their receivers quick forced these Eagles defensive backs to make tackles in open space, and that's what you saw today was mistackles at times. You saw poor technique by the dbs, particularly Jalen Mills and Ron Darby early in that first half that led to big plays in the passing game or led to passing deference calls,

holding calls that extended drives. I just didn't see the mental sharp sharpness that we've become accustomed to sin with his Eagles defense, and the last few weeks has been off a little bit, you know, really since that Chicago Bears game, the Eagles defense have shown that they can be exposed at times if the quarterback is hot, and the last three quarterbacks that they faced, Russell Wilson, Jared Golf and Eli Manning have really had their way when

it comes to the passing game. So that's something they're certainly gonna have to clean up. I thought the offense operated with precision, but just too many plays on the defensive side giving up and some of them weren't even physical plays, I mean just mental mistakes being made out there, you know, biting on the double pump move. You gotta realize there's a defensive back when the team is setting

you up with quick slants, quick slants, quick slans. It's a reason why they're doing that they're gonna hit you with the sluggo the slanting goal route, and that's what Ron Darby was hit with, and that's what Jalen Mills was beat with for a touchdown. And I thought after that the Eagles secondary sort of lacked a little bit of confidence, almost as if they wanted to play a

little more conservative as opposed to being aggressive. And Eli getting rid of the ball quick was part of their game plan obviously, because he doesn't want to have to sit back there and hold the ball against this Eagles front front four, and they showed they can get after him at times today. I felt after the second order, once they felled twenty and seven, I thought the Eagles defense bounced back, they settled down a little bit. Then they came out in the second half and it seemed

like the Eagles had established the momentum. You thought they had control the game, and you kind of started to as a fan take a back seat and be like, all right, they're gonna get this one. They're gonna be okay. But fourth quarter, just like in that first being back in a week three, the Giants kept chipping away and they never never went away. What do you think was a change there from early in the game, defense struggling,

middle of the game, they're bouncing back. Then all of a sudden at the end they need the fourth quarter stop there, and then they had to make sure that the last few seconds there that the hook and Ladder played. The miracle play didn't take place. Without being privy to the play calls, it just seemed as if we sort

of played not to get beat over the top. You know, Patrick Robinson going out in the second half on that fourth quarter, forcing Malcolm to play a little more slot corner as opposed to being back also may have hurt the team a little bit. But they just they just really, honestly, Chris, they haven't looked the same over the lad three weeks. In the secondary part. I mean, you're getting pass rush up front, but if the quarterback is getting rid of the ball quick, you gotta be able to come up

and make tackles. And there was also just too many mental eras I mean jumping off sides on fourth down when the Giants are out there to punt the ball to extend their drive that led to a touchdown, that led to a touchdown when it looked like the Eagles had the game in hand. I mean, they're they're up thirty one to twenty three, about to get the ball back after just scoring a touchdown, and then you give

the Giants life by jumping off sides. They're able to take advantage of that going there and get a touchdown, and then you know, at a dangerous team is a team that has nothing to lose. The Giants are sitting there at two and eleven. They're gonna let it fly. And that's really what you saw today as a team from the Giants to play loose. This is the best

they've looked offensively all year long. You know, I don't know if they scored twenty three, right, except for three three exactly, So you know when they had the little run in the third, I mean the fourth quarter in week three, that's really what you saw from then today. They went back to whatever was successful for them then and they implemented that in the game today. So keyo here Rasseul Douglass, the rookie who has been very good

this season, a healthy scratch today. The Eel's trying to get some more help on special teams with Ryan Brayman, who was signed earlier this week. He was active for the game so special teams coming through in a huge way. Would have been nice having Douglas out there, especially when I was thinking to the one Laman pass to the end zone. Ron Darby's in coverage has a chance in the end zone to go up and make the interception. You're like, Rasseul's come through with those. Of course, you

can't coach hype, you can't know, hey whatsoever. Razul, who's about three or four inches taller than Ron Darby may have gotten, may have been able to pull that down. But you look at those numbers, man, you're talking about four hundred and twenty some yards passing for ELI to day, over five hundred yards of total offense. I haven't looked at the stats from the previous games all year long, so I don't know. I would imagine this is the most yardage this defense has given up all probably close

to last week. I got to look back to last year earlier with the Rams did but again back to back performances, and you think about the playoffs. Now you're gonna likely see Misso Vikings who ran up and down the field on the Cincinnati Bengals today. That's the one reason why the Eels don't have home field avantaced about the playoffs as Minnesota took care of its business. Today,

you have New Orleans with Drew Brees obviously a veteran quarterback. There, Cam Newton who's been to the Super Bowl, so he knows what to do with the football. You know, Russell Wilson's on the outside looking in at this point. So bad teams don't go to the playoffs. So anybody you face in the playoffs, and we left out Atlanta, who could potentially plan at the Rams be a rematch there. We got to tighten up on the defensive side of the ball. We got two games left to go, and

you know they're gonna get it fixed. I have to have confidence that they will get it fixed. You know, you don't play as well as they played on defense throughout the year. You know, this is the fourth ranked defense coming into this game. They have to get these things fixed because quite frankly, they still have all the personnel there that's been there all year. I mean, they've added Ron Dark to the mix, and so you would

think that should be a positive for this defense. But for whatever reason, over the last couple of weeks, we just have not looked the same on the defensive side of the ball. Well, the strength of this defense is the line. Yes, so when you're having a quick passing game, time to gain the past neutralizes it. So you're neutralized one of the strengths of this football team right there.

So that's something that's you know, the Eagles have to figure out how to get the defensive line more involved when you know that opposing teams and offenses are going to be trying to get rid of the ball quickly to pick apart the secondary. How key now other egals have the first round, by how key will that week off be? I mean, that's that seems like maybe it's

a fatigue starting to set in with this defense. There's something along those lines where maybe you get that week off and get your legs back under you and you're gonna be fresher for when you get the postseason roll. Yeah, I completely agree with that. That bye week is huge, not only for those reasons, but that's just one less tough game you have to win to try to get to the super Bowl. Let's not forget what the goal

here is. And if the objective is to get to the super Bowl and you want to play as few I mean as few games as possible, So getting that bye week, basically he says, all you have to do is win two and you're end and hopefully if they get another win next week. We're talking about home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and you ask how huge that that off week is. It is big time. It's very difficult to make that run from the wild card weekend

to get to the super Bowl. So having that bide week, it doesn't guarantee you anything, but it certainly is huge. And it's just another week to sort of sharpen sharpen up on everything, to allow Nick Foles to continue to get more comfortable in the offense, to gain more of a rhythm with some of the receivers. As good of a day as he had today, there were still sometimes where he seemed to be on one page and maybe

al Sean Jeffrey was on a different page. So that extra week allows you to really sharpen up in your passing game and also to get our running game going. So it's big time indeed. So what's good for the Eagles is that they had three straight games on the road okay in Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York. Okay, two teams bound for a playoffs about the third and

division rival. You come out two and one. So now you have your two final games of the regular season at home Oakland on Christmas Night, and Oakland may have nothing to play for itself. Then Dallas, of course, they're still in the mix right now. They're actually playing Oakland tonight, so Dallas might be ouv as well. So the last two games could be against teams like the Giants. They're just playing for pride and trying to play out the string at this point, so those can be dangerous teams.

It could be in string. But to me with Oakland, you're going across the country west coast, east coast, a Christmas night, Christmas night, you're away from your family, hopefully you across your fingers. That could be a packet in type of game right there. But now you're guarantee. Then the week off for the wild card, then that first game the divisional round will be at the Link. So right now, three consecutive home games for the Eagles, and we can't overlook the fact that this was their third

straight role game. Yeah, that's that's difficult. You know, they were able to come out of this thing two out of three, and that's certainly huge winning the last two. But you you look at if you look back at schedules of teams around the league, if you're saddled with the task of playing three straight road games, that third straight road game is very difficult to get. You've been away from home for a long time, you don't necessarily

have the energy. Luckily for the Eagles, it was just a bus trip up the turnpike, but still, it's the third straight road game against the team that has nothing to play for other than pride, and it seemed as if the Eagles were just a little flat, that they didn't have necessarily the same energy. Defensively, the offense, I mean the offense carry the defense for most of this game. I mean the Giants go down it's their first opening

drive touchdown of the entire season. Eagles are down six nothing after Derek Partnett blocked the extra point, and you're like, already, Nick Foles has to come out and just come out swinging. Okay, there's no which is interesting because usually the Eagles win the coin toss, they want the ball in offense. So you can tell the Eagles felt, let's get the defense

on the field. Let's pin the Giants offense back since it struggled all year, and give Nick some good field position and said, he's down six nothing, but what does he do? Marches down the field and then leads the way for a touchdown. Overall, four touchdowns on the day for Nick Foles. The most sense he had the seven touchdown performance against the Oakland Raiders back in the twenty thirteen season. You look at the red zone numbers there in the box score, four out of six. The one

thing was, how would he do in situational football? Third down little off compared to previous weeks, sure with Carson Wentz under center, but third down still strong though, but red zone outstanding job by him making sure that when they got down there, they converted those opportunities into touchdowns, because that really made the difference in say his game. But to me, Nick Foles did everything and more you could have asked of him coming into this first game

as a starter. Yeah, I mean, and this is why I had the confidence when you know Carson went down, as as difficult as that is to have to swallow, but having Nick Foles go in there, a guy who's familiar with this office certainly enough doling around him. Wasn't necessarily gonna have to shoulder or load and carry the offense all day. And I love the play designs, the play calling. It's really what has allowed Carson Wentz to

be the front runner for the MBP. We don't give enough credit to these coaches that the dial up the place, particularly in the red zone. This is the best red zone offense in the NFL, and it showed itself to be true again today four out of six with touchdowns. Opportunity really to go six for six, I mean, there was a good chance they could have easily gone six

for six in the red zone and got touchdowns. But it's the reason why I had full confidence that this offense wouldn't necessarily miss a beat because I love the way the plays have been called all year long, particularly in the red zone. They seem to have found a nice rhythm down there. They know the players to dial up who to get the ball to, whether it's Alshon Jeffrey, whether it's Nelson Agil, or whether it's zach Ertz. You're talking about three formidable types of weapons that can hurt

you on any given play. That makes it very difficult for a defense to stop you when you don't know who to take away. In the red zone, Nick basically has his choice four touchdowns, four different receivers. The first one to Alshon Jeffrey, who I thought an outstanding performance. Very first play from Nick Foles a throw to al Sean, got the ball out of his hands quickly, get the playmaker involved early on. And then that touchdown throw in

the back of the end zone. Great job by Jeffrey making sure he doesn't go out and bounds or a little question of that. Did a phenomenal job with the footwork, but Nick doing a great job of finding the open man back there and feeding the ball to him to get them on the board again. Probably the thing that stands out to me the most no turnovers on the day, biggest, That was a huge thing. That was the one thing that you wanted to watch from Nick Foles. What do

you take care of the football? He had the one fumble when Olivia Vernon came off the edge. Luckily the Eagles were able to recover it. Outside of that, he kept the ball out of harm's way throughout the course of the day, didn't try to do too much, stay within the framework of a game. Hey, if something's not there, okay to punt. And that's what Nick talked about last week in his press conference when he said he's he's

ready for this moment. He knows what to do, and sometimes you gotta just allow the game to unfold and not try to win it in the first half of a game or the first quarter of a game. You gotta give yourself a chance late in the game, so you don't need to feel pressure to have to score touchdowns or points every time you have the ball. When there wasn't a play there. Nick was able to even throw the ball away or you know, he didn't have many sacks today. I think I only had one sack today.

So that was the big key. Being a heady veteran understanding that you can't win a game early, but you can lose it early with some of your decisions that you make. And that's that's why it's a it's a huge plus to have a guy like Nick Foles as

your backup. You basically inserted a starting quarterback when you look at the amount of starts that are under his belt, the pressure of playing in this city, with the expectations he's led a team to the playoffs, the moment was not going to be too big for Nick Foles, and I was fully confident that he would come in and play within himself and allow these weapons around him to sort of do what they've been doing all year, which

has made plays. We even saw a little mobility from him in the pocket, a little Wentz like moved there where it was Pierre Paul Billie was bearing down on him on the opening drive and he just steps right out of the way, and yeah, you know, it's those little things. He was able to buy time rolling out of the pocket. Almost had a nice play too, Almost had a nice play to Tory smith All on the

sideline when he bought time with his feet there. You know, those are the types of things where in the coming weeks he gets more time and practice with the receivers, developed that chemistry, he's gonna make those types of plays. So overall did a great job distributing the ball, spreading it around, so you can't keen on one guy. You look at how the Ease were able to take advantage on the Burton touchdown where two defenders bear down on

alshon Jeffrey. Also Trey Burton's wide open. It's not like Trey Burtons a guy that you can just leave alone, you know, lead uncover for crying out loud. So that right there show is just a great play design by the coaches. You saw the Giants defense trying Kean and taking away certain guys from the Eagles offense. But Nick Foles made the Eagles pay using that experience, did a great job of getting rid of the ball quickly when the Blitz came. You know, some of the throws were

a little off. I know there's a couple to Earth where it's like it's a timing. It was just a little off for the ball placement. It's a little bit better. They have some big games to beat the blitz there. But I think in the second half that one catched by alshon Jeffrey, whereas the ball extended was the only place where the ball could be thrown. The touchdown to Zach Ertz, I thought was another example of great ball placement.

Just overall, just great job running the offense and just never seemed to, you know, pressure himself when the Eagles were trailing big in the first half. I think there are a lot of people who are wondering ken Nick Foles lead a type of comeback. You know where you feel like if Carson Wentz were in the game, this

offense could score enough points. We just hadn't seen that from Nick Foles to this point, and we saw that today that even if the Eagles are trailing, that this offense is still good enough with Nick Foles as a quarterback to be able to put up points and still remain the highest scoring offense in the NFL. And it's going to get better as as Nick continues to play and he gets more and more reps out there, he becomes more and more comfortable with his receivers and the

timing gets better. I'll caution everyone just think back to the early part of this season when Carson and al Sean couldn't necessarily get their chemistry going. It takes a while, and that's sort of what you're gonna see from Nick Foles. It's it's unfair to Nick to expect him to come in and be clicking as well as Carson had been clicking all year long. I mean, Carson had played but thirteen games to get to the level in which he

was very comfortable with everyone. Nick's only been in there for his first start, doesn't have thirteen games to get get rid of the either this is the first week where he's getting the practice reps the Eagles. In practice, they give all the first team reps to the top

quarterback and Carson's getting all the snaps. Yeah, and that's that's the standard operating procedure for most teams around the league, as your first stream quarterback is going to take nine of the snaps throughout the week in practice with the first teams or the backup guys don't necessarily get a whole lot of reps. Sometimes they're running the scout team. So what we saw from Nick today I thought was perfect. Again,

it's gonna get better next week. If they're forced to play in that final game against the Cowboys, I think you'll see him be even better as far as chemistry with the wide receivers and the time and that sort of thing or be there. So I just I feel very comfortable with the system and not saying that Nick is a system quarterback. I just feel comfortable with the system that has allowed this team to be the number

one scoring team in this league. You put the backup quarterback in there and they still put up thirty four points today with base with virtual ease. I mean that's what they were able to do because you have great play design, you got great play calling, and you got playmakers at your disposal on the outside and the slot in the backfield if you want to give the ball to the running backs. I mean those type of things our quarterbacks dream. These things are quarterbacks dream when he's

running an offense. Don't put a ton of pressure on him to do all the work. Just download the plays and all he has to do is get the ball out of his hands quick like the plays that are designed to do. And like I said, it looked good today. I think it's gonna look even better next week as he gets more and more repetition with the players around him. And so when it comes to Nick Foles. Also, it was interesting to see how Doug Pearson was still aggressive

with the play call. That was the one thing I think we all wonder in the fourth situation, would he still go for it? Like yeah, with Carson Wentz all season, they went for it. And I think they kind of showed their hand early with le Garret Blunt in the backfield. They put someone in motion and also they kind of really called it. They're gonna have a run play. Giant's defense. Credit to them for being able to snax. Harrison is hard to move many but the whole l defense in

the backfield. I mean, Blunt didn't have a chance, okay on that play, but you still even saw a quarterback sneak there from from Nick Foles, which you didn't expect to see to get the first down there late in the game. So it seemed like Doug didn't deviate too much from the way he would call the game with Carson Wentz, which I think is something that was very interesting from that standpoint in terms of, you know, how different would his offense be, and there really weren't a

ton of changes. You can't and you can't, And I was glad Doug went into this game with the same aggressive approach because when you're facing the backup quarterback, what what the defense is going to do is trying to force him to beat you throwing the football. So so all right, we're gonna say now the MetLife Stadium head

coach Doug Pears and set to address the media. All Right, your decision that to pick three points instead of going five points, go to five points and uh touchdown has to beat you talked about the university, which you guys facing the stating down and clinching the first round die. Well, yeah, first of all, um, you know anytime It's what I told the team at the end of the game in the locker room that you know, anytime the Giants and Eagles play, it's always going to be a battle, regardless

of records. Throw everything out and it's becomes a sort of a slug fest. And you know, um, two weeks in a row for our team to really find a way to uh and then you know a week ago play well enough and then come back this week and really don't play great, um, but still find a way to win the game. Um. You know, players have made plays all year. They continue to make plays, but uh, plenty of plenty of uh, you know, mistakes to go

around that we gotta definitely clean up moving forward. To be an issue throughout the day today, but it hadn't been at all of the rest of the season. And said it your readable to really know. It wasn't nothing on, nothing on Nick, nothing on you know, getting plays in a lot of times if you'd notice too, just just our overall energy, Um, just getting guys back to the

back to the huddle a little bit. We just gotta I gotta do a better job during the week of coaching that up and and uh, making sure our guys get back to the huddle in time. And and the other thing too when when there's when there's chunk type plays too, that clock's moving, and we just got to be a little more, a little more sense of urgency in those situations. I thought, I thought he played well,

really well. I mean, you know, I'm sure you know there's some there's some things that he would like to to do over. Obviously each game is going to be that way. But um, I thought he handled himself extremely well, a lot of poise back there. Took some shots today and bounced up and um did it, did a nice job, did a nice job. The defense they didn't like how to play against the Rams and then say give up a lot of yards? How you putting up there? Yeah, no,

I'm not you know, I'm not concerned these guys. Are these guys understand, I mean, they really do. If you're if you're in that dressing room a few minutes ago, you know, you know the players know, Um, they got to clean some things up obviously, and and uh, you know, we can't have ten penalties and expect to win too. And then some we couldn't get off the field on third down. That's always been something that we've kind of been good at on defense. And but I'm not I'm

not concerned as far as special teams. A block, field goal, block, touch your point, block punt. Did you see something going into the game or is it just something that that happened over the course of Well, you know, Fhip studies the protections and had a couple of different wrinkles in there. Um, and then you know, Barnett's blocked a couple already this season,

and it got one. Malcolm got one, I believe, and and um and then and then and then you know, just uh, the rush on the punt, you know, was just a just a thing of beauty executed well. The scheme and um, just things that to kind of change it up. And and and like I said, Phip does a good job of of of you know, understanding protection and uh designing some some rushes to to to do that.

What have you if you played three games in a row and see it off the West Coast, lost your starting quarterback, you won two at three, what have you learned about your team over the past three weeks. Yeah, you know it's um, gosh, it's it's it's it's a tight group. It's a real tight group. It's a family atmosphere. That's an a band of brothers, is you know, And those are those are just not they're not words. I mean that that those guys really believe that. And you know,

coaches and players really buy into everything that we're doing. Um. We've had we've had a tough stretch. Um, you know these last three three weeks. Um, But to go two and three or two and one rather in the in these last three games, I think it's just a credit to the players, the coaches, UM, and uh, you know, we still have everything right in front of us obviously, UM, got got a great opportunity Christmas night to to do

some more uh in the postseason. So UM, a gettle bit longer week, get the guys rested and ready to go, the game plan coming in offensively. Uh. In terms of you know, balance, I mean, did you feel like you had to to run more all the I mean pass more despite the calls for you to run more? Um, well, you know for me going into it and and kind of the offensive game plan two is just to to continue to do the things we we we've been doing

all season. And um, yeah, we tailored a couple of things for for Nick obviously, but um in the passing game. But really, really I wanted to maintain the aggressiveness offensively. Um. You know again too, you want to you want to try to establish the run best you can and get that thing going and um and then you know, play action passed. But you know we got down so fast

that that uh um again, there was no panic. You know, we just just just one play at a time and worked ourselves back into it and won the game that it was any two touchdown deficit or thirteen point deficit there in the first half. What was the conversation where their adjustments made on defense? Did you think you just needed a few more drives? What was that like? No, I mean really we just had to make a play.

We couldn't get off the field. I think it would you know the first third, first five third downs, I think they converted and they were shoot, what was the number third down ten for eighteen? I mean, I mean, there's your there's your story right there. You just can't get off the field and you just got my could play somehow and we had some we had some secondary

penalties and just couldn't got off the field. And those are things that are there are critical errors that that uh you know, then we had a we had off sides on a on a punt return. You know that that gave them a new set of down. So you just can't you can't do that thing. You know, you can't do it. You gotta you gotta be smart to know the situation obviously. Um, and we got it, you know, we gotta get it fixed zone touchdown passes and you've

got had success down there all season. Um, I mean yeah, it's not like you've even missed a beat nicking near What has been the secret, uh to use success ins out of the red zone? I really don't think there's a secret. I just think it's just the execution of

the players. I mean we spend we spend time during the week on that and it's been a it's been a really an area of focus for us all season long, off season, starting the off season, and you know through training camp and um, you know you get guys like uh, you know, all Sean and and and Urts, and you know these guys are making plays down there. There are a couple of big targets that you can go to. Trey Burton's had a couple of nice games here back to back, and uh, um we got to continue to

run the football down there. So yeah, it's uh, it's something that we uh, you know, spend a lot of time on obviously during the weekend. Uh just comes down to the execution of the players. What was it feel like in the locker room and during the game without Carson, who's an MVP candidate. I mean, were there guys looking around saying who's going to lead us? Or was it Nick build that role? What was it Blake? I was it different this week versus the last thirteen? Yeah, you know,

I'm I'm I'm sure, I'm sure. You know, Carson probably reached out and and uh to all the players and you know, offensively, probably wished them well. But you know, there was no because they spent the whole week with Nick, so you know, there might have been a little bit of that like, Okay, how are we going to play?

You know, what's going to happen to start the game, But you know, we we we just go right down the field and and Um, you know, Nick had the hot hand early and just kind of maintained it throughout the game. And really I think, you know this, this was just uh, it's a great win not only for the for the team, but but for Nick too, you know,

and and for the for the gas. For Nick to have a lot of plays called for him early, it seemed like it was you know, we kind of expected, Okay, you're gonna run the ball a lot and protect him, and you know, your offensive line is what it is. It seemed like there was a concerted effort to either not stray or or maybe even emphasize the pass to get Nick sort of into the offense, to establish that identity. Was was that part of your thinking day? That was

part of my thinking? And um, to go to go tempo, you know in the first quarter, to kind of hurry things up a little bit and move down that you know, march down the field. It settles your quarterback down, it settles your offensive line down, and really kind of gets everybody into rhythm. And um, we did that a couple of times in the game tonight and or this afternoon, and um, you know, I just just my gut was you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna maintain my aggressiveness.

I just as a play caller. I didn't. I didn't want to. I didn't. I didn't want to. I didn't want to take a step back, you know, and to go, Okay, you know, we gotta do this, we gotta run the ball more. You know. I didn't want to do that. And I told the team that you know that that I was going to stay aggressive and play calling and still push the ball down the field and take shots when we had them. Um, and then and then still do the run game. So why Chance over Isaac? And

how do you think Chance played? Um? Well, I evaluate the film obviously, but I think I think just overall he got got edged a couple of times today. Um, but I you know, after I watched the film, I can't give you a better evaluation. Um, you know tomorrow, but I think overall pretty well. Now you're talking and follow up to staying aggressive, as Marcus said, Uh, is that a message to the team as well, because he said during the week nothing to changes, but you can

say that and losing MVP? Was that a conscious decision to show everybody? But we're moving forward changing. You have to you have to. I mean it's it's been this way all season. Um. So we lost our quarterback, our left eye. I mean, you know the injuries we've had and we've been faced with. But you know, we're twelve and two for a reason. And and and I've got to maintain I've got to maintain that edge. The players

have got to maintain that edge. Um, it's too hard to win, you know in this league, and every team is good. I mean you saw you saw it today, and UM, you know, I just I trust the guys. Bottom wise, I trust the players. I trust the way the way we practice during the week, the way the guys prepared. And um, as a play caller, it gives you a lot of confidence to go in and and and be aggressive like that and then matter this one. What was the message, Well, the message was, first of all,

you know, congratulations and and did the whole thing. You know, we we we're slowly checking boxes NFC East a week ago and then and then you know, a buying a home game, Now check the box. But there's still everything's in front of us. And and I just challenged them, you know that, Uh, I can't play like this and and win in the postseason. Obviously, UM can't play like this and expect to win every week, you know. Um, you got to come prepared, you know, and and uh

um you gotta come. When I say prepared, I think I think from a mental standpoint, that that emotion, you know, that uh um, that sort of sense of urgency, and that that that dominating swagger, that that you want to see your team come out of the dressing with with. And that was kind of the message you know today, Um, happy for the guys again, found a way to win. We hung in there and and uh twelve and two. All right, thanks, all right? Head coach Doug Pearson addressing

the media. Is it the happiest after that, you can understand. Look, he's thrilled because they check in over box, as he said, they've got the division tower wrapped up, they have first round by now, they're gonna have a home playoff game

in January, first time since the twenty thirteenth season. What, of course Nick foleswill to korback, so great for all of us that we can start, you know, playing our calendars and knowing that weekend of the sixteenth and seventeenth, I believe, or you know, you know, there's gonna be

a playoff game. Outside of that, though, there's a lot like you said at the beginning of that, he'll be able to show the players this week when it comes to making mistakes and you know, kind of tweaking the details and saying, if we want to win the playoffs, you cannot perform at this level. It's the best of both worlds for the coaches, you know, because they get

the win, which is obviously the number one goal. But at the same time, there are plenty of coaching points to take away from this game, especially on the defensive side of the ball. So I thought Doug handled that press conference perfectly. You look at his sort of his I don't know his mood after the game. That's befitting of a coach who knows they were lucky to get a win today, because you don't necessarily win football games when you give up the points the way that the

defense gave up points today. Okay, so we're gonna wait to hear from quarterback Nick Foles in just a little bit over at MetLife Stadium. One thing to note the run game, Okay, we all wondered how that would be impacted by the loss of Carson Wentz and Nick Foles coming to starting lineup. It seems to me like Jay j has established himself as the guy and they're expanding his role more and more. Had two huge plays in the third quarter, one on a run, another on a

screen pass. It seems like to me that Jji is firmly established established himself as the guy. So before we talk about the running game, let's send it back to me Lay State and where Nick Foles its Sandy By. You get out there, it kind of it's as usual any times you know there's a you get the butterflies for sure. I think anytime any game you ever play and you get that excitement, um, because it's just it's a big stage. There's a lot going on. UM. But once you get on the field, you just sort of

just play play ball. You live in the moment and uh, you know, there's just something that comes out of you that you just go out there and just play. You went offtown early with you that's something that play made you in the offense and there you will have effectively. It's just something we do. Um, it's part of our offense. Uh. Coach Peterson loves uh the you know, mixing that in and you see it a lot more in the NFL now, I just throw the defense off and we really like

to do it. So yeah, I mean it's one of those things that I can get you into a rhythm. You can get some you know, quick long games that help lot. How important was it for you to get this win under your ballive out and you have to team rust of the way? Huge, I mean just getting back out there, playing a full game on the road in New York. I mean NFC East. It doesn't matter what's going on in the season or what it's always going to be a battle. New York played a great game,

came down to the end. I mean the time we played them before is the same way. But to come here and face a bunch of different things, have different guys step up, special teams, makes plays defensive, makes plays offense, and it's like we switched off all throughout the game. But we stuck together and we had some adversity early. So it was a great game to come out and get a win. Huge. The offense just compote. I'm not trying to get it all back as I think at

that point. UM much motant things not to press because you can only score you know, six points and then you know whatever you choose to do after that. So really just say, hey, I can't force it, like living the moment, read the plays out. You know, obviously you want to be aggressive at times, but just not worry. We knew we were going to stick together and guys were going to make plays and just did it one thing at a time and just sort of leaned down

each other. And that was the big message, and that sort of everyone's mindset said. He wanted to kind of send a message to the team. And he's not taking to step after this play, calling like, yeah, we have to lean on the run? What did that mean to you psychologically? Don't even going on. I think somebody might beginning to call, are you good? I think the big thing is with him coming out and just saying he's

not changing anything. I mean, it just says a lot about his confidence in me, is confidence in the players in the offense. And I've sort of been the message this whole year's guys have had to step up. But it's just that the atmosphere that's created that. I mean, we've had a lot of injuries and I know I've talked about, but the guys that are injured are still there. It's not like they're not a part of the team. So they're still creating that atmosphere that when things do

go wrong, guys don't bling. I mean, Carr, I've stressed like Carson's still gonna be a huge part of this team every step of the way, no matter what. And uh sore every single guy that's injured. So, um, that's a special thing because it doesn't always happen that way. And um, they've all those guys have helped create the atmosphere in Philly. You guys right after surgery, did he

was did he make his Parson fell today at all? Uh? Yeah, I mean we we have a group text, um nate him and I mean we're together all the time, and uh definitely, you know, semi text before the game. I haven't had a chance to look at my phone, but just wishing us luck. Um, you know, he wants to be here so bad. He's one of the greatest competitors I've played with, and um, you know, going out there

getting this win, I know he's he's really excited. Isn't the suggestions on the inn that text it was just I'll keep that personal butfinitely rusted it all early on. I mean, there's definitely some things where I go back and watch it that I can clean up absolutely. Um. I think the big thing was you just keep playing when something does go wrong or you wrong, or you miss a throw or maybe the decision wasn't what I wanted and that's why we go back to film. But yeah,

I can absolutely get better. There's a lot of a lot of work to be improved on, but um, it's a beautiful thing. I'm gonna have a day to improve it. I'm gonna just continue to do that. And we have so many great guys on this team that had that same mindset. Was four touchdown, zero the sorry, the picks none there. Of those two what matter most? Which one matter more to you? You know, they're all great. I

think you're just really just getting that first one back. Um, the one that al Sean where you're going through your whole progression and he makes a great play. I think that was a big one. But guys made place all day. Um, you know, like Nelly at the end making that great cats Earth's crossing face, catching one traffic and then trade being aware when the cover sort of broke down and you just sort of see those guys all around that

can make play. So that's a big part today. Four touchdown games, it's open back in twenty thirteen, I think, Um, to not start a game for fourteen months and then throw four touchdowns in your next start, specials down for it. I'm just really special. I mean, this whole journey and being back in Philly, Um, it's sort of it's crazy, if I'm being honest, Um, just wearing the Eagles journey to go back to Philly and wear it. Um, I wear a lot, you know, I take a lot of

pride in that. And uh, you know, I can't say enough about our guys. I mean they made some big plays today to you know, help with those touchdowns. I mean,

made some big plays. But yeah, it's a it's a special moment for sure, A moment when you you had JPP in your face and you kind of you kind of dip them and then to where yeah, I'll watch Carson a lot, Um, I channel my inner Carson wentz right there and uh yeah and just made a play, you know, just try to get him to move and step up, and then uh, you know, I defended on whole tory and hold his arms down. It's probably a touchdown,

but Tory did a great job fighting through. Um, we get the call, get down there and get the same rolling You've been with some explosive offenses in the past. Obviously seven touchdowns that game. Carson throws four last week, you throw four this week. What is it about this offense that could make it so effect You just have guys that prepare throughout the week and work really hard and are on the same page. Our coaches schematically do

a great job. I mean we're very well coached. UM. So going to work every day, you know that you're you're going to give get the coach's best effort and they're gonna help you every single day. And that's something that as athletes, that's what you want. UM. But guys are where they're supposed to be. UM. They understand the concepts, they understand what we're looking for and the O line I mean giving us time. I mean those those guys are amazing and being able to run the ball, so

that opens everything up the run games. So all that combines into an offense that can put points on board, and guys believe it in one another. What is the first round fighting. I mean it's obviously something great. Um I was fortunate to be a part of it last year in Kansas City. But I mean we still have a lot of work to do this season. We can't focus on that. I think the big thing is you get your you let your body recover. It's a long season, and you can guys who are Nick Duck and help

with their injuries. But we have to finish these these games out strong and keep improving and h For me, I keep getting more reps and building this repetition with all these guys. Once early but it seemed like for the most part, protection was there. How do you feel in the pocket? Feel great? Feel great? The guys did a wonderful job in the pocket and gave me time. There's a couple of times where I pushed up and

got out just to change from throwing angles. But they did a great job, especially about the chance a big fee over there. Yeah, the story, I mean, guys having to step up. I mean it's not easy. It's not easy in this league. It's not easy to win in this league, especially with the conference rival. Those guys have done a big V's done an amazing job. Chances I've worked with them on scout team. I've worked with them,

I've seen them work every single day. I know Wiz helps them all the time going in there in this environment. You know, they did an awesome job to down two touchdowns. The fuel position you had, What was the value of that after the interception out? Oh, it's huge, Darby getting that pick is I mean, anytime a momentum can shift

like that, it's huge for a team. And that's where you really as a quarterback, you don't want to get You want to be smart, but you want to be aggressive because you know, like a touchdown right there is huge just with the momentum. It's a game of momentum. So that was a huge play in the game to

get us going in the right direction. Did you was there anything this past week that made you feel like that you knew this was gonna turn out the way you did, and you just felt it comfortable and you felt like, you know, Doug was giving you for much the full playbook, And it just goes back to the preparation of our team, the coaching staff for players. Anytime you can prepare every single day and do the extra things, it'll give you opportunity on game day to be successful.

It's not. It doesn't always happen that way, but you know, our coach do a great job of once again creating an atmosphere that guys work hard, they understand their job, they do the extra you know, maybe it's before the day starts, or after practice or after the day, and they take care of their body. So all that gives you an opportunity on game day to be really successful. So we just have to keep doing those little things right.

Appreciate you all right. Quarterback Nick Foles after his four touchdown performance, his first such outing since, of course, the seven touchdown game against Oakland, which just happens to be the Eagles next opponent. So how fitting is that? So yeah, so I should start Nick Foles next league too, of my fantasy football league, I guess you're gonna win thanks to Nick Foles. So on the field, fantasy nick Foles

delivering for everyone. The funny thing is, in all seriousness, you see how great this offense has been all year. The play call, in the play design, Carson was able to do what he did put him to the forefront of the MDP conversation. Nick Foles comes in in his first game he's putting up staggering numbers. So when when you think about it, this is just a will or

your offensive machine. And why I don't want to take any credit away from the players, because you certainly need players to make the x's and o's go, But it certainly helps to have good offensive minds putting together a game plan and then knowing which plays to dial up when needed. So coaching matters. That's so okay. We remember watched the game on TV and experience like most Eagles fans out there, and it was a good experience. You know, they're the highs lost of the day most of that, Yes,

but what was it like at MetLife Stadium? From the radio booth right now, we're gonna send it to Merrill Cam presented by Sports Radio ninety four w IP Wherever camera looking in on Merriories and Mike Quick as they call the best players from the Eagles win over the Giants, Manning back again, Manning stepping up, he has time, he

fires and it is intercepted. Intercepted. It is Dorby Derby at the forty Derby at the thirty five Derby at the thirty Derby cuts back, goes to the Plumby a brilliant interception and an even better run by Ronald Dorby. That's showing confidence in your defense by Doug Peterson, and Derby comes up huge, stepping in front of your throw and taking it back the other way Eli intended it for Roger Lewis. The ball goes back the other way. Bulls backs up, Bulls looks, Bulls fires and at his

cut touchdown, Fulls delivers to Erks. This is a great job. Here's it. You've got to have the protection. Zach Ertz is gonna get open versus this defense. When he's protected, you're gonna have big plays like this. It's a great throw and catch, but the protection makes this play absolutely clean. In the return, Barner Wing gets so that's blocked. Get's blocked, and the Giants fall of the ball that it comes over to the Eagles. Actually the Eagles come up with it.

Come on, Corey Clement, it's the one who comes up with it. And it was come Cruge Hill who blocked it, holds facts look, pulls, fires and it is caught a touchdown. He went up but pulled up. Oh I love that. What a great job. Nelson Aglar going up over the defender and taking the football. That's not making the catch, that's taking the football. Thanks again in Sports Radio ninety four WP for providing us with merrillcam. Always fun to see there. It's not always most glamorous. That's the one

that you know is at the lake. You know, it's it's a much more room here, you know, much more comfortable. Look at you go to some of these road cities and say, he's just crampy in the closet. Basically, so, especially the division rivals, they don't want the Eagles broadcasters, even a Hall of Fame like Merrill resab any comfortable

conditions whatsoever. So what we're gonna do now is we're gonna have a lot more discussion about the game, about Nick Foles, the run game, what's happened with the defense moving forward. But first we're gonna say goodbye to our friends. If you're following us on Facebook or Twitter, you can come on over to the Eagles app or Philadelphia Eagles dot com to check out the rest of the show.

So much more to get into as we break down the eagles thirty four to twenty nine victory over the New York Giants, including the all twenty two review presented by Rico coming up right after this. Before we were interrupted there by Nick Folesike, we were getting into the run game and how it looked like Jagi has established himself as the guy. Well, Garribela is still top of the depth chart was out there where the stars would begin the game, but Agile got the first carry and in some of those pivotal moments in the third quarter where the Eagles needed a spark,

he was the guy. So it seems like they're expanding his role ever so more by the week as we get ready for this postseason run, and they should. I mean, let's let's face it, I think JEDGII is the best running back on this team right now. I think it's more or less of a comfort level he needs to sort of find within this offense. Coach is still trying to discover what he does best, how to get him

the ball in the best positions. But here's the other thing as well, you got you gotta realize that Jedji has a little bit of a knee issue right coming in, and so the coaches want to monitor that as well, don't overuse him, so they certainly get him the ball

in key situations. I still think he's gonna be the back who has the most carries week in and week out, but I don't think they're gonna abandon the versatility of that backfield and guys like ken Yon Barner who had some nice runs early in the game, Corey Clement who does a nice job when he gets a chance to touch the ball, and then la Garreth bum is going to get his touches as well. But I agree with you. I think I think Jaya Ji will be the featured back,

but those other backs will still get their touches. Also interesting talking to Jaii this week in the locker room, he said that the training staff in Philadelphia has done stuff with him to help kind of take the pressure off the need to give him some exercises, some remedies to kind of help prolong the issue. So certainly that's a good sign, because, like you said, you want him

fresh for the playoffs. Okay, the fact you got the division tier wrapped up, you got the first round by locked up, you don't need to ride him as much now. You need to save them, make sure he's fresh. But you do need, like you said, figure out how to best utilize them, and that's what we've been trying to do these last couple of weeks. Yes, the big yeah impact in the screen game, that would definitely be nice going forward. So, however, were you about the special team's

performance today? I was excited about that. And Dave Phipp, who throughout his tenure here as an Eagle, has had the best special teams in the NFL this year, not as much, you know, but they showed up when they needed to. And let's face it, they've lost key guys off the special teams you wanted. The return game obviously, with Darren Spros not being in there isn't necessarily the same. So we're we're not getting the big plays out of

the return game. Nothing that hurts us in the return game, We're just not getting those explosive plays that we typically see with Darren Spros. And then when you look at the coverage units, I was happy to see that we brought Brian Raymond back this week because he's been a big part of our success in years past. But not having Chris Marigolds out there has hurt us a little bit. And then what sort of underscored is not having Jordan Hicks as your starting middle linebacker out there. Some of

the other young linebackers have to play more reps on defense. Therefore, you know, they're off some of the phases and the special teams, so the linebackers haven't been as prominent. It was great to see Kamu come up with the big punt block today certainly helped get the Eagles back in the game. I would say, just off the top of my head, this might be the first game that I would give a lot of credit to the special teams unit for actually winning this game for us today or

certainly playing a big part in it. When you talk about block kicks, what is it three over the day? I mean, that is so rare in this league to see a block punt, a block field go, a block extra point. You just don't see that very often, big time from day. Fifth unit coming up today really contributed to this win. Speaking of Gruge Hill, second year linebacker might be in position to be named to the Pro

Bowl that's going to be announced on Tuesday. In the running as a special teamer really should be yes, and there's a national amas around the league who are giving him some love. So the punp block today definitely should help his cause. So what happened to free him up to get that punt block? We're gonna sit it out to the Rico whiteboard for the Rico Review where Great Cosell and Fran Duffy are gonna break it down all twenty two style. So the touchdown by zach Ertz makes

it twenty to fourteen a favor of the Giants. The Giants get the ball back and the Eagles force of three and out and a punt. So what do you do? You get a punt block here in the momentum continue swinging for the Eagles, And we saw the replay of this and we're sitting there loving what we see from this Eagle Special teams unit. Let's break this down and how it's really kind of it's very similar to what you see from a defensive line and a defensive front

seven with pass. We'll start with your point about just separating this because I think that's a really good point. You want to, Yeah, you clear that out and clear that out and everything is going to work. Right in here, and that's a really important point. That's what they were trying to do. But notice what you have here. You have four defenders and you have three blockers. But this is really a pass rush concept. This is just a stunt.

It's really with a picker and a looper. So what you're gonna have is Brayman right here, who with the Eagles just signed and a great special teams player. He's the picker, who's the looper, Gruge a hill, he comes around, very basic stuff. It's just like a pass rush. So just watch this. That's exactly what happens. They do a really really good job, really well done. I mean it's a stunt. Yeah, it's that's about as good as it gets.

And it has an overload element because it starts out with four on three so that causes a little hesitation and a little confusion for those three guys on the Giants inside. But when all is said and done, it's an inside stunt with the picker and a looper executed perfectly. Yeah, just like you would attack a running back and protection that personal protector number twenty seven there for the Giants.

He's back there and he's going with the pick with the pinner in Brayman and he doesn't see he doesn't react well enough to commu Bruge Hill coming in, and Gruge Hill has been a great special teamer for the Eagles all season long. So huge momentum swing. You get the Earth's touchdown follow which started with the Darby interception. Now you get the punt block. What does that lead to?

That's the next play? Thanks Fran and Greg. You can see the entire All twenty two review tomorrow morning, first thing on the Eagles app and Philadelphia Eagles dot Com. So I like, I'm gonna put you a little bit on the spot here. Okay, mentioned Pro Bowl is gonna be announced. Your Pro Bowl selection here in Philadelphia is a special teamer. You might actually be the last special teamer guy exactly. That's what I mean. I'm not talking about darrens Brows as a return special story kicker. I'm

talking about as a coverage guy. Who do you think from this Eagles team? You know, I'm sure Carson Wentz will be in an obvious choice, But who do you think else deserves Pro Bowl honors for this season? Well, Carson obviously, I just start on the offensive side of the Ball, Carson Zach zach Ertz, Lane Johnson, Jason Kelsey. I mean Alshon's late push. I mean he's almost up to ten touchdowns, but because the ball gets spread around so much, he may not have the yardage necessarily to

get in there. But I'll go with those guys on offense as the only guys, and then when I go to the defensive side of the ball, you start with Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham. Do you think he finally gets this due this year? Yeah. I think Brandon Graham has to get in there. He's been deserving the last two years. He's had a career high and sacks and a half. This is another one today, So yeah, I would put Brandon Graham in there. Linebackers, nah, secondary not necessarily. In

the secondary, I don't see anybody. Jenkins is the one who maybe maybe maybe it's funny because at the halfway point, I thought Jalen Mills may have a shot. Yeah. So and then if you go special teams wise, I think Camu deserves to be in there. I think Camu has been fantastic all year long with his coverage ability. So uh, here's the thing. While all those guys should certainly get Pro Bowl attached to their resumes. I don't want them play. We're hoping that they're not playing in the Pro Bowl.

He just sets to throw it out there. It's something we'll enjoy this week to get into the holiday. But you know they announced it this week, Yes, Tuesday night, they'll be now. On the other side, we've got the Toyota Player of the Week nominees as well as the look at the upcoming schedule. Will break down the final two games and talk a

little bit more about the playoff picture. An interesting game taking place in Seattle right now certainly has playoff implications. We'll get into that. We're after this. Go to Philadelphia Eagles dot com slash Toyota Player of the Week to cash your vote and get a chance at a brand new Toyota, So of course you all know who the nominees are. We're gonna start off at

the wide receiver position. How about Nelson? Agilore continuing his stunning turnaround led the team with fifty nine receiving yards on seven catches, also a team high. Also had a beautiful jump ball touchdown in the end zone and a key third down conversion late in the contest. Your thoughts on nelson performance. Man continues to just make plays look better and better each week. That's a great catch right there,

great concentration early in the game. Just I'm just so happy for Nelson and the way he's bounced back this year. They found a great role for him in that slot and he's run with you man, I mean, I mean, what does he have eight touchdowns on the year already? Nine? Just been fantastic watching this kid really live up to be in that first round draft. It's great that they decided to add explosiveness to that slop position. That's the

one thing that you see other teams utilize it. And Jordan Matthews was a reliable go to guy in the offense, but Nelson brings a different element to this ability exactly. Yes, especially on those outside quick passes. Definitely a weapon in that front as well. So our second nominee, we're gonna stay at the wide receiver position. Let's be honest, We're gonna make this an offensive set trick. Show the Player of the Week nomination series here. Second up, al Sean Jeffrey.

Not just the touchdown grab he had, but he was the go to guy early on for Nick Foles, helped get him into a rhythm, and he also was able to draw coverage away to open up things for other players. We talked about the Trey Burton touchdown earlier, but as you mentioned, he may not get into Pro Bowl this year, but playing amazing football down the stretch and showing why

the Eagles rewarded him with that long term contract. And let's face the only reason he may not get in because he got off to a slow start to the season, But the second half of the season. I don't know how many receivers are out there that are doing or putting up the numbers that Alshon Jeffrey has put up since Week eight. Um just and I love the ten targets there. They mean they're trying to get him the ball. That's what a number one receiver, looks like they're trying

to get him the ball. Timing needs to be a little bit better between he and Nick. But his run over the second half as a go to a receiver, as a touchdown maker is the reason why they brought him here. More importantly, it's the reason why they've got him the extension and he's gonna be here for years to come. Yeah, he loves play with Carson could have gotten into free agency, but is in a great situation in Philadelphia where he doesn't have to beat the guy,

so to speak. Okay, it's you have Carson Wentz, you have Zach Ertch, you have other key players around you that you could just go out there play and they'll feel you have to have the pressure being the guy. So I think that's role man. Yes, not not one of these guys that it's a me me, me me me guy. Uh just just really a great example for everyone in that rot receivers position room. All right, Last, but not least, I mean, you gotta go with I still don't know why we call him NICKI six, you know,

because because th touchdowns that's what it is. Did you go and he threw four more today? You know? Helped out Ikers his fantasy team, so that alone should should have given right there. So but nonetheless, again, I think the players all week long were excited for Nick because they they believed in him. They see what he can do in practice running the scout team. They knew what he's capable of and which is a matter of having the opportunity the platform to be able to showcase it.

And he went out there did again. It was down six nothing from the jump, let him on a touchdown drive down twenty to seven. You know, was given some short fields thanks to the special teams and defense capitalize on those. Great job in the red zone and they

get into me. The biggest thing there no turnovers whatsoever today, And I love the fact that he stayed within himself, didn't feel pressure to have to go out here and prove to everybody that everything he's gonna be okay, or try to outplay or do what Carson Wentz has done all year long. Just stay within himselves, stay within the framework of the offense, made the throws that were there

available for him, didn't have any costly turnovers. This is what you get when you put a poised veteran quarterback in there. As your number two guy. Really he is a starting quarterback in his lead. Speaking of poise, the way he performed from the pocket, to me, that is so huge because I remember when he was here in two fifteen, he was starting to regress in terms of his pocket composure. For you seem to drift in the pocket and the pressure start throwing off his back foot.

The ghosts were starting to get to him a little bit. But he stood in there. He took some shots today, but hung in there. We saw last week in the short time against the Rams. Didn't get again today, but did a great job of just playing within the pocket, which helps the offensive line. And look, the offensive line by and large, you didn't we didn't hear about Chance Warmatt. Okay, you know Vitel got beaten off the edge by speed move by Vernon early on in the game, but side

that for the most part, handle himself. Well, you know, Pierre Paul wasn't a factor. You saw. You saw foes able to duck from pressure from him the one time he got in the backfield. So the offensive line maybe not as Greagan's in the run game, which you would expect, but did a good job of giving foes time to throw the football, and I think I think that was huge today when you're talking about the trouble we saw last week on the left side of the offensive line.

Was Nwski was out. That was a concern coming into the game, and let's face the Spags dialed up Blitz as he brought extra pressure to that side, and to come out of this game with only one sack. More importantly, I think Nick was only hit twice to day, and so you saw the passing game operate without Nick being under a ton of pressure, which didn't force him to have to add lib and make plays off schedules. So you're right, I think you need to give a lot

of credit to that offensive line today. That was a little bit of a concern, especially when we found out that Wiznewski was going to be inactive exactly. So it's time to take a look at the Eagles Upcoming schedule presented by Ticketmaster. For the only one verified a way to buy us NFL tickets, visit NFL ticket exchange dot com Again the Eagles Upcoming Schedule presented by NFL Ticket Exchange, powered by Ticketmaster. We're at the home stretch of the

regular season. Ike and Hopefully, the Eagles will have only one more game away from the Link this year, and that will be Super Bowl fifty two in Minneapolis. Outside of that, they get the Raiders on Christmas Nights and they get the Dallas Cowboys on Near's Eve. You know, the Raiders may be completely out of it by the time the game rolls around Cowboys most likely it would be out of it. So you start having scenarios and discussions where everything's wrapped up for you again. Eagles win

next gay that five game may not mean anything. The Raiders game may not mean anything because most of the league plays Christmas eat Vikings Packers is Sunday. The Eagles will know come Monday morning if that game is going to mean anything. So it's a good point by you. Yeah, yeah, they could have They could have the number one seed wrapped up based off of what happens the day before, so that'll be big time as well. But you know, stay focused. They still need things, they need to work.

They got clean things, they need to clean things up so that you're hitting on all cylinders once you once you get to that second round of the playoffs. But huge win the day that bye week is huge, Uh, don't be discouraged by the rough the rough patches that was displayed by the defense at times today. Still plenty of time to get the kinks worked out. We need one more victory. UM and home field advantages are so it doesn't matter what Minnesota does. Minnesota very presure. But

let's look at the MC playoffs standings right now. Minnesota is not going away. They are eleven and three, dominated the Cincinnati and look, let's face it, Minnesota was home Cincinnati. It was announced today that Marla Lewis is coming back. That Mangos scene probably said the don't need to play the day. Yeah, yeah, that's exactly what they said. That's exactly what they said. Interesting matchup taking place right now, MC Y. The Rams are taking the Seahawks to the wood. Shit, okay,

I believe a twenty seven to nothing. What's what's the score? Thirty four four nothing? Rams. So they're a little poed over losing to the Eagles last week and they're taking it out on cl wanting to show that they are the team to beat in the NFC West. So I don't know how much is going to change from what we see right now, especially with those top six teams. The NFC South is very tough. I think all three

of those teams get in in the NFC South. And I think the guys at the top of the leaderboard, those top three seats, I think they're going to remain the way that they are because the Rams went up there and took care of business today. Now they got a tough game next week versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. So um, but I think those are the six teams to get in so right now. Great to me that Green Bay loss today Aaron Rodgers returned. I did not want to

see him in the postseason whatsoever. So if the if the seating holds a form, okay, you go with the top four Eagles, Vikings, Rams seats. Okay, if chalk happens in the Wild Car Round, you're gonna have a rematch. Twenty thirteen playoffs grew Brees and Company coming back to Philadelphia. And here's a kind of as you want to start playing out your early twenty eighteen calendar. Here the Wild

Car Round. Eagles don't have to worry about They can just sit back, relax, watch, enjoy the bye week, check out the games. You'll see who you're playing that's January sixth and seventh. The Eagles will play some point within the weekend of the thirteenth and fourteenth. The FC Championship and the NFC Championship games both played on the twenty first, and then, uh, you know, if two wins, hopefully both at home. Yeah, Minneapolis, I love it. I believe it.

I you know, I just I'm believing in what this team has done this year. They've exceeded all expectations from people on the outside of this building, and they've managed to keep that noise on the outside away from the team and stay focused on on their expectations. I think they keep the blinders on, and uh, I'm ready. I'm ready for a big run in January. So February third be great to see Brian Dawkins get into the Pro Football of Fame. That would just be continuing the celebration.

It's always like the Eagles are the super Bowl. He has to get in right at that points. The Eagles are at the forefront of everything. Got to get it in at that point, I would sort of hope. So, will you be said, there's still two games playing in the regular season, will you be said, if the twenty four mark if thirteen wins is broken, No, not at all, not at all, because it's not It's really not about um regular season records being said, it's what you do

in the postseason. Could you guys could have got fifteen to one yet, and you could have done it. And we know that. And I've told with this debate about the OH four team versus this team goes on on on my show throughout the year two am tomorrow on a Sports ray of nine four WP and I wholeheartedly believe this and hope that this happens. I hope they finished this thing golf and become the better team. But the only way they can be better than the two thousand and four team is to what we gotta win.

That's that's what's that. That's the only way other than that is just noise. It's just which which team is your favorite? And you know, I'm hoping that they exceed what we did in two thousand and four to two thousand and five and win that thing this year. Today it was ugly, but the Eagles did what they had to do to put themselves in position to get to

the super Bowl. That's really what today it was all about. Okay, We'd have been great if Nick Foles had a dominating performance and the Eagles defense shut out and it was thirty four nothing or thirty four to three and said thirty four to twenty nine, that would have been great. And I think we don't feel a little bit better about ourselves. But the quarterback played well, it's not gonna be Nick Foles. That's the one. That's the one thing. I thing you got to take out today. Nick Foles

throwing four touchdowns. All the questions were can Nick Foles lead this team? He can do it. Sleep easy tonight. You can exactly. The defense, they gotta raise the bar a little bit. Okay, it's gonna get a little tougher, especially you're seeing the types of offenses they're gonna have again, Rams, Saints, Vikings on all Silvers, Falcons, Panthers are lurking. You know

it's gonna be coming on them. So but nonetheless, the Eagles, they beat the New York Giants, they secure the first round by and are just one win away from making sure that the road to the super Bowl on February fourth will go through Philadelphia. When it comes to NFC playoffs. Fright, Grace, I'm Chris McPherson, thank you all for joining us here

on the postgame Show presented by rico Hey. Coach Doug Pierce's day after press conference, we'll have it for you live at noon and here this guy with John Marks Tomorrow Sports Radio ninety four w IP at two pm. Everyone, have a great Eagles night
