The performance we have been waiting for all season from the Eagles came on Black Sunday. Here as you see Nick Foles Tach toss a beautiful touchdown pass to Zach Ertz in the end zone. The Eagles shut out the New York Giants twenty seven. Nothing but Wolf, that's Greg co Sell. This is the postgame show presented by Rico. Greg. The last time the Eagles had a shutout was of the New York Giants back in nineteen ninety six. You had a full head of hair back then, I think,
not quite but more than I have now. Well, certainly, what a performance from the Eagles. Shout out to Tommy Lawler, who I know has been waiting so long for a shutout for this Eagles team. But what a performance. It was, well rounded, such a balanced performance. The Eagles defense dominated the Giants front eight sacks on the night. Connor bar when leading the way with three. Lashan McCoy finally got untracked twenty two carries for one hundred and forty nine yards.
He looked like the lea Shan McCoy that we saw last season. Really top to bottom, Greg, this game was dominated by the Eagles in every facet right from the start. It was really an impressive performance both sides of the ball. It started the line of scrimmage, both offensively and defensively. And what really stood out to me initially, we know that Sean McCoy had been struggling and they'd been struggling
to get the run game going. They were not in the shotgun as much as they normally are, which is what about ninety eight percent of the time. They started out with Foles under center. That's how they got the run game going. So Chip Kelly, a few tweaks here and there, one of the main ones was putting Nick Foles under center. Even the touchdown pass to James Casey came with Foles under center. So a few little adjustments
and it was a dominant performance in all areas. So we've got plenty coming your way here on the Postgame Show presented by Rico, we will bring you Chip Kelly and Nick Foles their press conferences live from Lincoln Financial Field. Will talk a little bit later to Ike Reese to get his take on the game. Greg's going to break
down some of the big plays in this game. But Greg, let's start at the quarterback position from Nick Foles, who was maybe not the best performer for the Eagles on the ninth through two pretty bad interceptions that he should not have thrown, but still led the offense down. What did you see from Nick Foles? Well, it's funny you say that, because again Foles probably held the ball too long in the pocket. But it didn't really show up tonight as much as usual because I thought the offensive
line clearly had its best performance. You know, this Giant's defensive front had played really well the last number of weeks, and one thing that really stood out watching the game was how much time Nick Foles had in the pocket. He had time to go from one side of the field to the other. Now, again, you don't know what he saw when he looked at one side and didn't throw it, but he had the time in the pocket
he was able to do that. And then there were other throws in which he was decisive and got rid of the ball, which is really what you want to see. But I thought there was a quicker tempo tonight as well, and that's the way Chip Kelly wants to play, and it helped the offense overall. You mentioned the offensive line saying it was the best performance we've seen from them
this season. I don't think it's any coincidence that this was the first game at the Eagles have had the same group of five guys playing together for the second consecutive Yeah, and I think that just watching the game, David Mulk seemed to me like he had a very good game that he used his movement. See a lot of people may not remember when he was in college
at the University of Michigan. He was always the smallest center, but he had really good movement, and the first couple of weeks that he played he was overpowered a bit. Now he got a bit more comfortable. They got the outside run game going. That's the other thing that really stood out tonight is they got the outside run game going. They were able to get on the perimeter. Mulk pulling
Harriman's polling. We know Peters is probably the best polling tackle in the NFL, but this was an offensive run game in which they were finally able to get outside and get McCoy on the edge and even Sprowles scoring the touchdown he got on the edge as well. And from a macro perspective, to see this Eagles team not really salt away a lead in the fourth quarter. Keep
the pedal to the metal. They really they scored that twenty seven the point in the third quarter and then we're able to just sort of sit on the lead from there. The defense tonight was just so good in every facet of the game. As we talked about before, the defensive front just killed the Giants offensive line. Eli Manning had no time to throw all night long now, and that's to me really. Obviously, McCoy getting a track is big, but I think the defense, Bill Davis's defense.
This Giant's team had put up more than four hundred yards of offense in two of the last three game and we're playing very very well. The ball was coming out of Eli manning hands quickly, the offense was moving. The Eagles made them look very very average, even worse than average tonight, with a ton of pressure, winning both one on one matchups. We saw Connor Barwin consistently beat
Pew at the tackle position. We saw some really interesting pressure concepts which Bill Davis has been building and building, Malcolm Jenkins part of the pressure. We again saw Colin Graham lined up inside in the a gaps, a lot of different looks, a lot of things that offenses have to deal with and are very tough to deal with. Justin Peu grew up a diehard Eagles fan, so I'm not ruling at the possibility that maybe he was sort
of on the Eagles sign tonight. But well, you used that was kind of barn before the game when you suggest, I think it's possible. Barwin led the way with three sacks, Vinny Curry getting two, Brandon Graham, Trent Cole, and Brandon
Bear all getting sacks as well. What a great feeling it is, though, just to take a step back after all this sort of talk that went back and forth this week to dominate the Giants at home in front of a great crowd, the black jerseys, which I thought it looked very nice, and now you sit at five and one tie with the Cowboys. You get the week off, you get to sort of taste this victory as we move forward. And remember, you can be part of the
show here through tagboard. Just tweet with hashtag fly Eagles Fly or hashtag black Sunday. But Greg, you know you watch that that Cowboys Seahawks game today. I did. I did two sort of powerful teams. Now taking a step at the top of the NFC East, the Eagles and the Cowboys. Yeah, And what's interesting is is the Cowboys would be considered old school in the way they're playing. They're lining up and running the football out of base
personnel based formations, sort of old school football. Then you have the Chip Kelly offense, which is still it's based on the run, but not a traditional run game in that sense. But again, I come back to the defense. Bo I really thought that tonight's game really was more about the defense than anything else. I'm not sure anybody would have thought that the Eagles would shut out the Giant.
Team might have picked the Eagles to win the game, but I don't think anybody would have thought that the defensive performance would have been as dominant as it was tonight. Giants two oh fourteen on third Day. And that's how good the Eagles defense was. I think you're right. I think the two biggest takeaways are the performance of the defense, how great this pass rush has been over the last three games, for really sixteen sacks over the last three games.
And the other thing on the offensive side is getting Lashaw McCoy back looking like he looked last season. One hundred and forty nine yards rushing and he looked, you know, he looked like, yeah, you can say that, and what is it really? You know what he did? He looked like the old show. The lateral quickness. That's ultimately the lateral quickness. And there was obviously always be a couple of runs in which he probably he bounces too much, but that's the style of runner who he is. But
you saw the lateral quickness, the lateral explosion. That's the kind of runner Lashawn McCoy is. The ability to make people miss and confined areas, that's what makes him a great runner. Darren Sprowles did leave the game with an injury, so we hope that he's okay and we hope to get a bit of information on that as well. Victor Cruz, unfortunately for the Giants tourious Butteller tendon in the end zone the one time the Giants got into the red zone,
and that was pretty a sad. Yeah, certainly scene on the field that was tough to see. And a guy who plays very well against the Eagles, so you'll never like to see that, all right. So once again we've got Chip Kelly Live coming up very shortly. Then we'll have Nick Foles after that, bringing on Ike Bruce as well. We're also taking your phone calls. Two one five, three four one fifty one seventy. I think that's what it is, fifty one seventy. All right, we'll get that right exactly.
There we go three two zero fifty one seventy. So there you go. Anybody else who sepped out to you? I guess special teams once again pretty good for the Eagles. Cody Parking making some big field goals, Darren Sproles all almost broke that long return, it wasn't for Malcolm Jenkins Aez. The player who to me over the last two three weeks has been really impressive and in an unexpected way given what he did last year, is Knnor Barwin. Because Connor barn last year, I thought he played really well
at a lot of the details of the game. He wasn't sacking quarterbacks, but he was playing pass coverage, he was setting the edge. This year, he's sacking the quarterback. He's almost playing like he did a few years ago in Houston, right before the Eagles signed him to the free agent contract. And I think Connor Barwin, see when you can beat tackles one on one as a pass rusher that's absolutely critical, and he's starting to do that.
He's starting to win one on one matchups, and I think he's the player to me that's standing out on this defense perhaps more than anyone right now. The other guy to me up front is Fletcher Cox, who I think we've talked about in the past. He has all these tools. Does this defense really feature his skill set as much as a different kind of defense would, But these last few games he has been dominant. He's been
really controlling the line of scrimmage. I think Fletcher Cox is sort of proved himself to be one of the real playmakers. And another name I think is absolutely worth mentioning is Vinny Curry. Because Vinny Curry plays what maybe twenty five snaps a game. You know, he plays in certain sub packages for sacks, utter and he is a consistently good pass rusher. Even when he doesn't get sacks, he's able to pressure the quarterback and be an effective
player in his role. And Brandon Graham's been able to do that as well. So this is a defense that's been able to play really well in their base defense, which they started the game in against the Giants three wide receivers. They started in their base defense, but then when they do go to their nickel their dime, they're really getting excellent pass rush from Vinny Curry, from Brandon Graham.
So the parts are sort of falling into place. Obviously, with a bye week, they'll continue to work on that. It'll be very interesting to see how this rest of the season continues, because I think this defense is really beginning to play the way Bill Davis envisions it. As for Nick Foles, you know, we talked about a bit of an uneven performance a little bit, but one of the things he did very well was spread the ball around seven players with reception, six with at least two.
We saw him do that. One of the things that he does well is sort of find the open guy and not locking on one guy. No, when he made some good throws early when the game, the touchdown pass arts was a beautiful was about as good as it gets. I mean, we can talk about the catch, but really the ball could only be thrown in one place, and I'm always a believer that if the ball can only really be thrown to one place, then it's the throw that makes the play and not the catch. And I
thought that was a terrific to cut you off. We've got Chip Kelly over at Lincoln Financial Field. Just you know, we can be in the center and being or in the shotgun. It's just different things. Sometimes it's adjusting the path of the back. But you know, we've done it
both ways. So if your team seemed to play with a lot of result tonight, he like, did you get a sense from them maybe they were not getting enough respect, maybe for being FOURM one and putting that visions Now, I don't we don't talk about any of that stuff. I mean outside noise. We just try to stay away from it. Either way, whether it's you know, we talk about praise or blame is all the same. You know, it's just about focusing. And and we we thought we
had to come in here and play with great energy. Obviously, I thought the crowd was awesome. Being at home. We had great energy. You could tell it right from the jump. And then really the big difference in our other games that we played, the shares we executed. You know, I think UM in all phases, offensively, defensively, UM and in special teams we didn't you know, it wasn't a spurt here or a spurt there. I think it was a
consistent football game from start to finish. You you you look at the drive in the um second half there, we throw the interception and they return at our defense goes out in the field and does not give up any points. You know, we stop them on the three yard line, and then the offense goes out in the field and has a ninety seven yard drive for a touchdown. So, um, you know, it's it's something to build upon. Um. You know, so we're happy where we are. I guess the best
way to say is we're please. We're not satisfied. You know, there's still a lot of things we can do better, um, but but we're pleased with the performance tonight, the dot almination of waking that today surprise. No, I mean I don't. I don't look at it that way. I just look at it is we had a bunch of guys that went out there, and I thought we had a good game play on both sides of the ball and on teams, and we executed were able to get the run game
going tonight. You know, I think it had been there before. I thought the shan did a really good job running tonight really hit some things tonight and you saw the Lashan that I think everybody knows um he can be like. And I thought, obviously we got a little bit more continuity. It's laying second game back, you know, a little bit same same group to play the game before, played this game. So just a little bit more consistency. State on blocks a little bit longer, and ran the ball a little
bit harder and blocked well on the perimeter. Season is gone. You say this is the best game. There were no comebacks, no any other Yeah. Yeah, I mean I'm not into writing games, but you know it was. It was a good game. Defense. Eight sacks, you know, what's been kind of the key to that resurgence long and think we've had sixteen and the last couple I don't know the exact totally. I think maybe in the last three y Yeah,
you know, I just think they're working. You know, it's it's not a scheme deal, it's it's our guys continue to work at their trade and they get better. You know, counter barrow when we saw I saw it coming, and I know Billy talked about it a lot, and I think people were you know, maybe he didn't believe us but we saw those guys getting better every day. He saw the way they trained, saw their approach to what we do from a training standpoint, and and saw him
getting better and better and better and continuing to develop. So, um, you know, it's just it's just a matter of you know, it's it's not, Hey, this doesn't this isn't working. I think we saw that that that it can work. We just have to be more consistent in it. So it wasn't Hey let's change everything a drastically. We do the same exact things. Billy called the same defense as called a lot of the same run plays, a lot of the same pass plays that we've run all along, but
we just executed better tonight. Both. I mean, I don't think there were a lot of really open receivers, you know, that were just running clean down the field where he could set you know. The big thing about them going into the game, um, you know, with with whether it be disguises or reroute or things like that, we wanted
to disrupt the timing of the game. Um, because they were doing a great job, especially in the three games in one with a ball coming out quick, I mean it was coming out hot, and he was uh you know, Eli was playing at a really high level. So I think it was a combination of um not having maybe the first read there. Uh so that now that now we can generate some pressure and um, obviously it's a it's always a combination too, but I think the coverage
had a lot to do with it. You guys are five and one, but the big leads the league returnovers. How we really concern is that it doesn't matter if you guys keep if we keep winning, doesn't matter. Now I woulday answer your first question if we keep winning, it doesn't matter, but I mean if it if it hurts us, then yeah, I mean we gotta We still have to do a better job from that standpoint. We were a lot cleaner last year from a from a turnover standpoint, and um, he'll be the first to tell
you that. You know, I think the one at the end of the first half, I think he was trying to throw it away. I just don't think it get out of bounds, you know. And then uh he was scrambling on the second one. And we just gott do a better job of protecting the football. I thought we did a real good job from a running back standpoint, and receiver standpoint of ball security. We just got to do a better job from that standpoint because you can't continue to do it at that rate and uh and
end up on the right side of the ledger. You know, the turnover um differential is really big in this league in terms of being being an indicator of wins and losses. So let's I was be able to get to the edge few times. It's night that he hadn't been doing some previous games. He's had a matter of having the confidence that you're gonna be able to get there and if you do it once, then that in snowball and
then you get I think it's both. I thought he ran really well today, but I also thought I think Jason Peters did a great job. You know, he had a real big matchup against Jason Pierre Paul. And I also think Brent Sellick had an outstanding game kind of blocking the ability to get us to the perimeter. So you know, a combination of our tackles and really Brent that or I thought Brent was outstanding blocking today. So shot pass the casey was just a play action yea,
it was just play action run fake. We had run the ball a couple of times out of that formation had three tight ends in the game. And then you know, we always have complimentary plays, so you know, if we're running the ball, and I think the first couple of runs were successful, but they were starting to get a little bit closer and creeping up a little bit more
towards the line of scrimmage. And then anytime you get an opportunity to attack somebody that has dual responsibility, you know they have to step up on the run, but they also have to cover in the past. You know, it just came at the right time. We had a right situation. We had the ball in obviously in a good situation in the red zone there where we thought we had a shot at it. Something he had worked one for a while, and um, you know, our guys
went out executed. No, I just know it's a Nate, But I haven't heard anything from from our medical stuff to this scheme and especially the way he plays, and he seems like pretty selfless professional. Yes, he's the ultimate. You know, you go back to the Detroit game a year ago when we uh, you know, we're finishing the game off and he catches the ball in the open field and instead of running it into the end zone where then we got to kick off, then our defense
has to go back on the field. He hooks liked and gives up an opportunity to get a touchdown. Um, you know, so we can just take a victory and get off the field. You know. I think, Uh, he's awesome. I love the way he approaches everything. He's got the right demeanor. He's everything you want. Uh, he's totally selfless. You know, he's he's exactly what you want. When you talk about what I Philadelphia eagle looks like, Brent Sellick is what a Philadelphi Eagle looks like. This week he
was obviously up. No, it's the same every I mean, we do the same stuff all the time, and it's just a matter of getting better and better. And it's not it's something I think everybody works on. You get to continue to develop, and the guys that don't get better are the guys that take you know, the individual periods for granted and say hey let's just get the team, let's see what the scheme is this week and go. But I think not only Nick, everybody. I think you've
seen guys continue to develop. Our guys in their pass rush moves, have continued to work on them, continue to develop them, and you're starting to see that payoff. You know, it's not a scheme thing. We're not changing schemes. We're not you know, we're not a scheme operation where hey, let's run this week, let's run that this week, Let's let's develop, let's continue to get better and can we be better than our what we were the game before
and build upon what was what was positive. And then if there are negatives, and there are negatives, you know, we didn't play a totally clean game. If there are negatives, and you know, we'll go back, we'll watch a film, we'll correct it, and then we'll get out in the field and hopefully continue to grow. So miel Ryan is questionable coming in. You know, how about his recovery. We'll see one hundred percent tonight or you know, I don't
know if he was a hundred um. You know, he probably asked to me go I don't think he was, you know, he because of the amount of time he missed. But I think it just kind of tells you the type of player he is. And I said at the beginning, I wouldn't really count to me go out anything unless unless they just say, hey, he can't go, you know,
but he, Um, he stays with a game plan. He was out there every day if he wasn't in, taking the physical reps like he did a couple of times later in the week, he was standing right behind the defense making all the calls, making sure that when his opportunity came, he got uh so many mental reps. You know, you watched how he approached it. Even though, um, we talk about deliberate training. He was even when he wasn't in, he was deliberately training. He making the right calls, getting
everybody set. Even though Casey or Acho or um Marcus was in there, he was still out behind the whole defense doing everything. And that just kind of tells you the type of professional that Tomko is. Defense made those sweeps so effective. I know, Scroll scored on one him a point. Now, it's just kind of some of the looks sometimes they were they were down inside and sometimes if you run the ball the other way, it's really
tough to cut him off, you know. So we just were kind of trying to play an inside outside game with him. So the next week, what's the plan we're in tomorrow. You know, we'll get a meeting tomorrow. I think we have to take a team picture, and so we'll be with him tomorrow. So they'll come in and we'll take care of everything. Then they're off for the
rest of the week. Okay, all right. So there you have a head coach Chip Kelly as the Eagles go into the buy at five and one after the twenty seven zero stomping of the New York Giants the blackout on black Sunday. So we'll take a quick commercial break here on the postgame show presented by Rako. On the other side, we'll get Nick Foles at the podium and Greg we'll talk a little bit about one of the things Chip Kelly said there about this not being a

But Greg, you wanted to talk about one of the things that Chip Kelly mentioned in his press conference, and as you are want to tell us you are the guy who watches all the tape of every team every week, and when you look at this Eagles offense as opposed to other offenses around the league, is it true that the Eagles are not really running different schemes different weeks. They're running the same concepts. They're just running them over and over again at a fast clip.
And I think that's the critical thing that's what struck me about its press conference when Chips said we're not a scheme operation. And I think when you play fast, you get the defense in predictable fronts and predictable coverages. And when you play fast, you can't run as many plays. So what happens is you have to have fewer plays and you don't have as many schemes, so you just run the same plays over and over. You try to give a different look here and there. Everybody does that.
It becomes window dressing. But they're not scheme based. They run the same plays out of very often the same formations each and every week, and they get the defenses in predictable looks. All right, Well, the man who runs that scheme under center is Nick Foles. We send it over to Lincoln Financial Field to hear from the quarterback. We won the ball when we won the coin toss, and we went down, got some points on the board, and then we're able to execute, and we definitely have
things to clean up. But it was a great team and win. Defensive an outstanding job, not allowing a team that's been putting up thirty points um normally to nothing. Really probably them special teams made some big plays like they have been So it was a great team win. How significant it was it when you took them, when you won the coin flip and said you took the ball. There's the first time that's really won the coin flip and took the ball. Was it? Does that a message said, Hey,
the offense once to strike first year. Yeah, we want to we want to start earlier. That's something that we've been working on and we've worked each and every day. Um, we want to start faster. And we did that today and it helps our defense out when we can put some points on the board early. They really just keep going after the quarterback. And um, it's a it's a team thing. It's a momentum thing. Five to one at the break. I mean, can you can you at least
get enjoy that? I mean, I know you guys are honoring yourselves, but can you talk about that? I mean, it's a great position to be in. We still have a lot of season left to go. We still I still have a lot of things to improve on, which excites me, like y'all know how I am. But it'll be great to have this bye week to get healthy, Uh, get some rest and recoup, get ready to go. I think the guys, the guys up front really did a great job of giving him some solid seams, and he
hit it hard. He was hitting the lanes hard. He wasn't trying to bounce it. If he felt like he didn't have anything. He cut up inside for three or four yards and that really helps us out. That helps out with a play call because you're inside the chains. And I thought, Uh, we did a great job to night run the ball. You concerned about seven games, No, I'm not. I will correct those. I will fix it. Uh, that's just part of football. You want to keep being aggressive.
I've made a couple of dumb mistakes with the football that I'll work on and I can fix those things. They're not over my head and that's one of the things that I love by this game. You can fix things. Awesome. Thanks boy Folds. We're gonna take a quick break now. On the postgame show presented by Ricco. On the other side, we say goodbye to Greco Sell and bring in our friend I creas Hi. Bow Wolf and like Reese back on the postgame show presented by Rico and Ike, I know that you like when this offense is rolling a little bit, but at your heart, you're a defensive guy. The first shoutout since nineteen ninety six,
you had to enjoy that. I love this game. I mean, first of all, it was so surprising. You know, I thought this would be a high scoring game, high twenties, low thirties both teams. But if I'm giving out a game ball tonight, I had to give it to defensive coordinator Billy Davis. Great game plan. You know, I didn't realize he had been on the coaching staff, but Bob McAdoo and I think McCarthy out in San Francisco, so
he knows the offensive coordinators sort of game plan. And yeah, he had great insight because it seemed like this offensive line of the New York Giants had no clue where the pressure was coming from. ELI was under durest all night long Connor Barwin would arguably his best game in the Eagles uniform. Three sacks tonight, Trent Cole had a sack of Vinny Courier, a couple of sacks. Just just a great, great job by this defensive unit tonight. Sixteen
sacks by this defense over the last three games. I know that through the first couple of games we were sort of waiting for that pass rush to come. Boy hasn't come these last three games. It really hasn't. You know, Billy's doing a great job of mixing it up with bringing extra man in pressure situations. But you know when they just rushed four at times, they do a great
job just getting there with four guys. When they put those four, the four three front guys in Brandon Graham, Benny Curry, Trent Cole, and either Fletcher Cox in the middle or bar went out there with them, that's probably their best pass rushing unit, and it showed tonight. So we expect to hear from both Lashawn McCoy and Jeremy Macklin at the podium over Lincoln Financial Field, like I gotta saymon, pressed you dressed for the occasion. Yeah, they
will listen. They said it was black Sunday, so I figured I put on my all black tonight and it was a great atmosphere. It was an electric atmosphere. The uniforms looked great, thought looked great. Yeah, And the good thing is they want so don't have to put them on the shelf. That's exactly right. And then at halftime we both did the same thing. Boys two men on the field. I didn't see anybody leave their seats. They everybody wanted to dance along and sing with boys mean
both of us. We didn't want to hear it from the press box where it's it's glass up. We both went to the the Eagles radio booths so we could actually experience. I tried to get you to get in there to dance with me a little bit, but even Cara breaking it down, well, you know what it's uh. Boys and Men is one of my favorite male groups of all time right here in Philadelphia, and they sung two of my favorite songs into the Road in Motown, Philly. So it was a festive night at the Link and
I'm glad that the players they showed up tonight. You know, they've been in a tragic to have all the celebratorial surroundings to the game and did not win this game. They did more than win this game to night. They came out in dominant fashion tonight, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. As a player, what is it like when you go into the buy with a win as opposed to having a taste of loss for an extra Well, unfortunately, I probably had more losses going into
buys than I did wins. Under Andy Reid, we for some reason, we just didn't win. Yeah, So I know what that's like, and it's it's not easy to stay focused. I don't know if Chip has given them their schedule for this week or what have you, but Andy used to tell us that we had the week off prior to that game, and I think as players we probably started thinking about that vacation time more than we needed to. And Uh, the Eagles under Chip, they've they've done a
good job with the bye week, and tonight they look focused. Uh, they certainly weren't thinking about whatever days they're gonna have off the rest of this week. They came in the night trying to claim the NFC East and uh, I
think they sent the message to the Johns. Johnts did a lot of talking earlier in the week, and you know, I was happy that they were doing the talking because to me, I said, they're gonna force the Eagles to focus that much more on this game Sunday, just because you don't talk trash when you're going on the road somebody else's house. And so I thought the Eagles came
out tonight looking to shut the Giants up. And you saw that picture that was tweeted of Dominique Rogers, Cromarti and Prince of Mukamara holding up to zeros for Eagles Super Bowls. Well, now it's pointing at yeah, terrible your thoughts on the state of the division now after the Cowboys to be fairhead and even bigger win if you look at the quality of opponent going into Seattle taking down the Super Bowl champions, two very good teams atop
the division. Now, Yeah, the nfcast, much to the surprise of a lot of rognosticators, they thought this was be a down year for this division. That's a pretty good year. The Giants didn't look good tonight, but they looked good the last three weeks. And I don't think we've heard the last of the Giants. It's a long season. They're sitting at three and three, and Dallas went out to Seattle today and one versely a game that no one gave them a chance to win as they were eliminated
me from Survivor. Yeah, they were eight point underdogs today, and listen, the Cowboys are playing good defense. They really dominated their game. The score is not indicative of the way the game was played. That Cowboys really dominated Seattle in their own stadium. But we don't have to worry about the Cowboys to his Turkey Day. That's right. A lot of things didn't happen from now until Thanksgiving, and
that's something to be thankful for. Yeah, as for la Sharon McCoy, who expect to hear from soon, Yes, your thoughts on getting the old shady back? He looked. He looked great tonight. I'm telling you. If it wasn't for the way this defense played the night, he would be the story of tonight because he's had better nights statistically than he had tonight. But this was his first big game of the season. This kid typically shows up when the lights are the brightest. He loves playing against this team.
He loves playing in time time games, and I was happy to see that he looked decisive early in the game. The runs that he had going to the outside, I thought he was patient, waiting on his blocks to set up, and then you can see that burst. I don't know all this talk about Shady must have lost the staff or as he hit that running back wall. He looked like the old Shady to me tonight, and all he needed was a little bit of daylight to get that
good him back. And I knew once he got got it going early, and maybe it was the first or second run that you had that was like maybe twelve or thirteen yards up the right sideline, that's what he needed. He needed to to get to that second level, get some positive yards so that he could gain confidence. And you can see as he continued to carry the ball tonight he looked more and more like the guy that
we loved watching the last six years. And that space on the outside has not been there through these through the first five games of the season, it finally was there tonight in the share. You obviously took advantage when he had to make a guy miss one on one that that athleticism was certainly there. It really was, and you got to give the Eagles offensive line a lot of credit as well. You know, this isn't the thirty or frank defense they faced like the Saint Louis Rams
last week. This is the ninth rank rushing defense coming into this game, and I thought the offensive line did a great job of moving bodies. Jason Peters, I mean, my guy, I mean, this is this guy. Isn't the best left tackle on football. Please show me someone else that can do some of the things that Jason Peters does. And then Brent Selleck not only did he contribute in the passing game, he was also a big part of the running game, setting the edge so that Shady could
get to that that perimeter. So, you know, great job by the offense and running the football tonight, and the defense obviously the stars of the night. How about your thoughts on Nick Foles who had it. You know, he had those two mistakes, which were they were bad decisions, bad throws, But other than that, he spread the ball well, moved the offense. Uh. He got the job though, he
really did. And you know the throw he made to Zach Ertz for the first touchdown to put the Eagles up tending nothing was It's probably as good as a throw as he's had since he's been here. I thought he looked a lot more comfortable in the pocket, had a couple of throws that he would obviously want back. Has to get out of the habit of wanting to make something happen with guys hanging all over him. You know, you just can't throw the ball light at times. But
he'll break out of that. I thought he looked good to night, even with the two interceptions. I thought he looked good tonight. There are times when you when you're probably best to take a sack. Yeah, and he did a great job, But that last year I think he may have his head. He doesn't want to take sex,
but sometimes it's okay to take a sack. All right. Well, we're also taking your phone calls two one, five, three, two zero, fifty one seventy as we wait to hear from Lashawn McCoy, Jeremy Macklin, maybe a few other guys from the locker room. And remember you can also be a part of the show by tweeting hashtag Fly Eagles

But Wolf and I greeze back on the postgame Show presented by Ricole by Rico Rico Suave after the Eagles take down the New York Giants twenty seven nothing, the first shutout for the Eagles since
nineteen ninety six. That also came against the Giants. That was a twenty to nothing victory. And so now we go to the phone lines. Of course, we're taking your phone calls. Two one, five, three, two zero, fifty one seventy. Henry from Tampa leads us off. Henry, how are you all right? How are you doing that? Steven? It was a good game. It was a good game. What were you doing back in nineteen ninety six? I remember that
we've done a shoutout on them too. That's correct. Yeah, So what were your big thoughts coming off to win, Henry, Well, I'm kind of happy, but we need to play better. We've got those Allasona Carnos coming up, you know, the folling week. Well, it's tough to imagine them playing much better than they did tonight. I hope they played a lot better, you know when we played cantalazonor all right, well that's I guess what's that? All right? Well, fair point, Henry,
thanks for the call. Arizona with a win against Washington today. But we send it over now to Jeremy Mackel. I think I think it's good man. I think that's what we Uh, that was the only thing on our mind going into this game. We got the job done, got it done, um, you know the way we wanted to get it done, dominating every aspect of the game. Um, you know, so we couldn't. We couldn't be in a better position. What's the most complete game you've had all
the game? One of the most complete? Um, I would say, so, you know, um, we gotta limitate the turnovers. Um. But yeah, you know, I think, you know, the score board shows that. I think the way we played, the energy Um, this enthusiasm. I think everything we did, you know, kind of all came together tonight. Uh. It's gonna open up opportunities for for the passing game, you know. Um you know, McCoy had a big day. Spros had a few good runs and they even got trading their runt the ball a
little bit. Um, you know. So, I mean that's what we do. We like to run the football. So long we can keep that going. I think the office the line dominated up front. Um, I think we'll be pretty pretty pretty good from the beginning up to stop the running away. Some other teams, Um, you know, they they I don't. They did the eight men in the box a couple of times and roll the safety down and so you know, they tried to do stuff like that. But I just think we stopped with the game plan
and then executed. I played. That's why we're able to run the football so effectively. You heard about what people were saying about the kind of win you're having this year, and spress a game like this one, can you finally say, hey man, it's hard to win in the National Football League. So, like I said earlier this week, we win to nothing, we win fifty to forty nine. A win is a win. Um. But you know it was really good for us to go out here and put a whole game together. And
we'll continue going forward. The ban this week that telling about the trash other um, I mean only because you guys, let us know what was said. But um, twenty seven nothing. Thank you. You have got to love that from Jeremy Macklin. All he's got to do is say twenty seven nothing. That's that speaks for itself. Yeah. You know, he was one of the guys who looked irritated earlier this week
when he heard about Andrea Rolls comments. And uh, you know, Jeremy typically has a little edge to him, man, and I wiped that about him. I wife that about him. Man. That's a nice, little, nice little dig. There are twenty seven nothing. That's all he needs to say. You don't need to say anything else. I think that's exactly right. All right, Back to the phone lines, Corey from California, Cory, how did you enjoy this victory? Basically, I just love to see the Eagles win. I like to see the
consistency on offense. They did awesome both sides of the ball, but offensively they finally put it together. I think, yeah, and seeing this run game get back to what they did so well last season, I thought was was really the best thing to see other than the past rushing. Absolutely, I went you there. You know. The best move, in my opinion, Ship made before the game even started. After
the coin toss. He decided to take the ball. Now he's been deferred and taking the ball in the second half, and it's that may have contributed to some of the slow stars. But they got the ball first, and they went down and they got a field well didn't get a touchdown, but they went down, they got a field goal, and I think that helped them get into a little bit of a rhythm early. He took the ball and
they came out. And there were so many times where the defense scored or special team scored and so and the Eagles offensive they wait long, so long to the end of the first quarter to get them the field. So I wonder if they didn't have something to do with it. I'm sure he felt good about the offensive game plan tonight. And it was weird for the Giants defense. These first five games, we've seen eight nine guys in
the box. Giants had six guys in the box for the most part throughout the game, and the Eagles really took advantage. I was shocked at Perry Fuel's game plan. I mean I really was. You know, they've had the opportunity to see this Eagles offense for a third time being in this division, and then two have seen some
of the things that other teams have been six. Well, the man we're talking about, Lear McCoy, let's let's go over to the stadium say question you as a player, I like it like that because you really know who's really behind you, you know. And for people to kind of criticize myself and the running game, I mean we were fulling one coming into the game number five on one. I mean lost conference in myself and or the guys up front. I mean you guys did, or the people
out there did. So I don't mind it. I got thick skin. I'm here to play ball. And and the thing that really blows me a way is if we weren't weren't that good as a running team, then why is every team coming here and stacking the box if they're not that good. But that's for you guys to write about and talk about. And then the radios and all that. I don't mind it at all. I got
thick skin. Uh. Surprisingly, they kind of played a lot of too high and they left the safety out the box, which which was was different, um, and they paid for it. Then when they try to move the safety down, it's too late. You got us. We're in their groove. Um. You know you're hitting running lanes. Ship did a great job today too. If calling the plays, he got me so many one on one opportunities, Um to make plays and guys up front just blow them off the ball
the whole entire game. Um, I mean sending back there deep looking at as the players are developing and just seeing how the guys in front of blocking made. As a running back, you know, you feel good, start getting your groove and then now you can start picking them apart. Nick through some some dump passes, they me some play actions, um, and may he played so as an offense. I felt if he played well today, all the running wings, that maybe you're a team in five weeks, you know what
I mean. I mean, obviously it's obvious that it was a lot a lot of room today, you know, but that's gonna passed and we're moving forward, happy to get lane back in there. Um, I think every player in the second year is always the biggest jump that you really recognize, and I can see it in lane and as the guys in front just really totally dominating. We made they made the right calls and play well. So
definitely a lot more running lanes. And I'm also myself, I feel like I made a lot more better decisions, like just going on it is hitting it. If it's gonna be a whole, it's not gonna the whole. I'm just gonna, you know, take the most I can get, you know, and just um and in some places, I feel like I left some yards out there. Um, you know in open field. Uh, that's that's what I do best. And in tonight they kind of got me more than I would like satisfaction. I mean, I leave myself out
of it because I'm a competitor. I like to I like to play, and I know I complain. Um, I think I'm more satisfied just to the team win. You know. The first thing people want to talk about just oh, well, got the running game goings over a hundred yards, but we're five to one. We're five to one with me going over a hundred or under on it and and and that's what I'm here to really talk about, because
that's what matters. If you were you of or a dallashed it before you went on school, I'm sorry going how conscious were you of what the cowboys be before? You're always asking questions, You're trying to find out what's going on. Um, they're playing at a high level right now, and then we are too, so you kind of keep an eye out for that, Alice, and we'll have our time to play. So if they keep winning and we're gonna keep winning, eventually we'll get a square off and
we'll see what happens. He gets the mark up. Now, I was joking that Zach was saying, when the calm, then she goes over the whole offense. You were kind of getting feeling. Now he's right. He's right, because when the running game is going, that's what kind of makes the offense because now you could go over top um,
get the play actions. You know, didn't say this or so conscious of the run you know you're gash you know that's the first thing think about, um, And then then once that happens, you leave the corners one on one with so much space out there to make plays, you know, and that's how we really play. That's once we get the running game going, then we have so many plays that that passes that come off the run.
There's different options, um And like tonight, I mean the match up would did with h D RC and irks, I mean there's different matchups. And as a tight end, I mean he's in a mismatch for a lot of people, even cornerbacks. Why was that sweep so effective tonight? You were able to get to the perimeter and hit off some big runs. Well, we actually started off hitting them inside under center a lot. If you notice that a lot more than usual, hit him inside, gashing them, gashing them.
Um So then anybody, I mean, if something's if you're getting killed inside, you try to mush it in. Which they're a wide nine type of team, and they kind of moved in and we got the edges. I mean, with with the tackles we have, they can really reach. And it's the guys in front, Like I said, they got to their their keys so fast. On the double blocks to the backers, I mean they played good. Even the wide receivers had a lot of good blocks to
that to lose Darren's I answer the same question. I guess just um, I don't know the situation or the condition of this, but I mean he's a big time player and he makes me better. Um. He takes the load off, you know. He has his own type of packages. We can make plays and gets in his own zone and we're fucking together from special teams. That's another key thing about him is is he does that so well. Um. And then the passing game in and running the game.
So I mean, hopefully we can get him. Um. I mean that's tough, all right, all right, And speaking of Darren Sproles, the word from the locker room was that he was walking okay, he was not too concerned. So hopefully the bye week will help get Darren Sprowls back. When the Eagles returned to action in Week eight at Arizona. All right, back to the phone lines, John from New Jersey, John,
are you in Giants Country celebrating this win? Now? I'm I'm not like, I'm actually from Marshall, Pennsylvania, Okay, And I'll tell you I just love the way the Eagles played tonight. This is like the John you mind turning down the the speakers you got going on there? Say that again? Do you mind turning down the speakers of you watching the show we got he wants to listen to himself. Hold on once in here? What a narcissist? Yeah down, we got the feedback feedback, all right, I'm
just like really impressed with this game tonight. Amen. And I'll say, Nick Foles, I think he did his job. He was. Um, I mean with the two interceptions, I like I said earlier, you can overlook that. Um. I mean he's yeah, he already said that's something he's gonna work on. I'll side he's a team player and um once and I'll tie you he I mean, I know he's not going to do olicate what he did last year, but he did his job tonight. I certainly agree, John,
And thank you very much for the phone call. Oh yeah, he's starting quarterback of them five and one team this time and first place in his division, who he yarns away from being six and oh yeah, yeah, you know. It's it's the thing about Nick. I think what happens often, which it does with every quarterback, Nick's not it's not special that it's just here in Philadelphia. I think this goes on and just about every NFL city that doesn't have Manning Brady hell Brady too this year Rogers. I mean,
the quarterbacks player is gonna always be over Screwtinize. It just is. And that's the thing. A lot of people like the harp on when it's good or when it's bad. That's what everybody's gonna want to talk about. But I thought Nick had a solid performance tonight. Obviously, the one throw he had earlier when he was trying to look like he was trying to throw it away, throw it over Sprow's head, but the stayed in bounds. I would obviously like to have that one back. In the second interception,
I mean, it was almost like a nothing interception. So I think from last week to this week, Nick looks much better than he did when he was in San Francisco. You know, San Francisco might have been one of his worst games. The last two weeks, I think he's gotten a little bit better, and I think he's starting to focus more and more on the mechanics in the pocket.
The mechanics in the pocket. The difficult thing is that when you're under pressure in the heat of a game, he want so desperately sometimes to make plays and make a positive play that he sometimes puts himself in show. But you're talking about a kid that was he started less than what twenty five games, that's right. I don't think he started two season worth of games yet. So, like I said, he's a starter of a five and one team that's tied for first place in this division.
A lot of quarterbacks would love to be in Nick Fole's shoes right now, no question about it. All right, we are nearing the end of the road, Clue and Eli Manning. That's right, as I was saying, we are nearing the end of the road. I'll call that boys demand there we go. So we'll take a quick commercial break. On the other side of great Coachell is going to break down the touchdown paths to James Casey. We're also going to hear from defensive cornator Billy Davis, who commanded
that shutout of the Jar to night. So we're nearing the end of the road. But before we do that, it's it's so hard to say about yesterday because the game happened yesterday, it's already Monday morning, So we're gonna relive it a little bit more coming back on the postgame show presented by Rico Accepta is the way to get to game. I love taking the subway down there because I feel like i'm, you know, with all fans.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry you didn't. You didn't grab it from the press box on your way out like I did. I didn't. All right? Well, well, well okay. Greg co Sell, the third member of our team, breaks down the Eagles touchdown that made it seventeen nothing, a beautifully designed play that allowed James Casey to run free into the end zone. Thanks guys. One of the things that really struck me from the moment this game started was how often Nick
Foles was under center. We're used to seeing him in Chip Kelly's offense in the shotgun, but this game, and I didn't chart it, but I would bet. He was under center in the first half more than in any other game since he became the full time starter, and this touchdown to James Casey was really an interesting play. The first thing you should take a look at is this was three tight end personnel. There's two tight ends here,
Selek and Arts. This is James Casey, who does not get a lot of snaps, but he was in the game on this play. And what you're going to get is you're going to get play action, but it's hard zone run action to the left, to the side of Casey. And what they're trying to do is not only impact the first and second level defenders, they're also trying to impact this safety, Quentin Demps. And you're going to see that the play action will impact the entire defense, all
three levels of the defense. Let's clear the screen and run it a little bit. You can see the hard zone action frees it here. Look at Falls. He's clear, he's out on the edge right now. There's no defenders near him. The defense has been deceived. That's essentially what hard run action is. It's a deception concept. It deceives the defense. It forces them to move in one way.
When the offense then comes back the other way, and if we let this run again and finish it out, you'll see that Falls throws to a wide open Casey and Demps is trailing him. This was actually an easy touchdown based on the hard run action, the deception element, the boot action by Nick Falls with three tight ends on the field. A beautifully designed play. All right. So a good game from James Casey as he has certainly contributed a little bit more on offense than he did
last season. I think three catches last year. Yeah, So a big play for James Casey and a big play for the Eagles tight end. But the big story of this game, of course, like is the first shutout for the Eagles since nineteen ninety six. And the man who Steward did dance shutout, defensive coordinator Billy Davis. We talked to him in the locker room after the game. Does that mean every week? I mean, that's a high bart and I took it. It's very hard in the NFL,
and it's it's rare. Like I said, it's a team shut out. It takes everybody to get those word. It was this what you want to take away? First second third of the Giants. Well, we knew the run game was was what really was the balance that they had, and uh, we wanted to make sure to make it a one dimensional game. And the guys did a great job stopping to run early and then we took away some quick throwing lanes and that kind of got Eli holding the ball a little bit. And then the pass
rush was really on their game today. They rushed well as a group. Uh, you know, we moved it around a little bit. Who was Russian, who wasn't, and uh just got him looking at the rush and it helped. The coverage was tight. Did you do anything differently defensively to disguise things that? I mean, he's not a hard guy. He wasn't been a hard guy to get to, but
you obviously got to him well a little bit. And for that, well, when you have a guy with his kind of experience and his intelligence that you, uh, you do disguise a little bit more, and we did. We went into with a plan of disguising a little bit more. But at the end of the day, the guys covered well in the pass rush, won their one on ones, and that was the key. Was this the best team apport? You guys hat since you've been decordinating here. Absolutely, yeah,
shut out twenty seven nothing, that's rare. I've been only part of a couple shoutouts in my career and that's twenty some years. So it's their heart in the NFL. That's satisfying is you can't some ups and downs through the first five games to go into a bye week with this kind of performance. How do you feel right now? Awesome? This is great. You know, it's a great feeling. But it's one week like all of them. You know, even when you feel down after some of the winds and
down after bad lass, you you enjoy the moment. You enjoy the win because that's the most important thing. And then the shutouts to bonus, and it's neat that we can do that. The guys know that the bars at high now and we got to strive for the four quarters. That's what we put up today. It was four quarters of good ball, and that's what we hadn't done up to this time. I'm sure that coach always challenged in
your players, particularly in their quarters. That the confidence that you showed in your players this week, particularly your quarters kind of manifested itself tonight with the way they hope. So they know I have confidence and we have confidence in them, and most importantly is they have confidence in themselves. They the NFL is it's a tough business, and you're gonna have some bad weeks or bad stretches of a couple of games and then you put some good stretches
to get everybody loves you again. So it's just a grind and you just gotta put your head down to work and hold onto the confidence as a group collectively and individually. Yeah, play certainly feel very good for Bill dam as he got his shut out, and that is going to wrap it up for a very happy Black Sunday here on Philadelphia Eagles dot com. And for all Eagles fans, remember that you can watch Chip Kelly's press conference live right here on Philadelphia Eagles dot Com tomorrow
at two pm. And we also got Eagles three sixty coming your way at five o'clock. Thanks to you for watching, Thanks to Greg co Cell, Thanks to you, Mike Reese for your your flavor. Yes, absolutely, your festive attire. Christma Fierson did it as well. So I'm gonna went to a giant spin older day. That's exactly right. That's exactly. I would have won a green time, but I didn't want to give the Giants any extra motivation than they
