F pick wide receiver Nelson Aguilar arrives at the Novicare Complex on this Friday, and what a show he has put on since becoming a Philadelphia Eagle. All smiles, all business, some poise, some polish, and certainly a lot of professionalism for a young man who spent three years at USC and becomes the Eagle's number one draft pick in twenty
and fifteen. He arrived at Novacare, made the tour, walked the building, met some key people, including of course, head coach Ship Kelly reacquainted there and has a time with the media as well. And we will meet Nelson Agilar in just a little bit, a little bit more in depth. Dave Spider, Eagles Insider, along with Merril Reese, the voice of the Philadelphia Eagles. It's Night two of the twenty and fifteen NFL Draft, and we've got you covered here.
Welcome to Eagles Drafts Central, presented by Dietson Watson, Merrill. Good evening to you. Good evening, Dave, and it's been a fun day. Yeah, meeting Nelson Agilar, and you know you'd have to say that. Jeremy Macklin moves on and they bring in another very talented receiver and they replace a very intelligent, articulate person with another guy who is just eloquent in his speech and matters. Yeah, he has
really really showed great maturity. Certainly, the moment is not too large for Nelson Agilar, who, by the way, will wear number seventeen in twenty fifteen. Last one, of course, by how the great Harold Carmichael is that the all time leading receiver in Eagles history. Well, I guess I can throw out the fact that I used to say Harold Carmichael the last Eagle to ever wear a You see this, and they see how we break news here on Eagles Draft Central, presented by Deeton Watson. It's Night two,
it's rounds two and three. We're live right now until the draft begins at seven o'clock, and then we'll be live during the Eagles picks and after the picks, including the Chip Kelly press conference. We've got Beau Wolf and Greg Cosell over in the fan cave. Hello, boys. We look forward to hearing from you guys tonight, and it should be a very interesting evening. I think this is really the nuts and bolts of the draft. You really can find some gems in the draft and rounds two
and three. Meryl, let's talk about what's ahead. Some of the players that you may hope become Philadelphia Eagles too, Well, there are a couple, Dave, and I think you look at needs and the two needs. Whether it's one goes first or second, it doesn't matter. But I think they have to address their defensive backfield, the secondary beat it a corner or a safety, and they must address the offensive line. So those are the needs. A couple of
interesting names that are still out there. One is Eric Rowe, is a corner or a safety out of Utah. He's over six feet, about two hundred and eight pounds. He is a very, very talented player. Now, the other name that was not drafted yesterday, who was considered to be the top safety but maybe not a perfect fifth the Eagles was landing columns from Alabama, but he is still out there. Was not taken in round one, and maybe in round two if Rowe is gone, he could be
a target. The offensive lineman who I think would generate a lot of interest in these here parts is the former Oregon Duck and that is Jake Fisher. He in the indepinion of some people could have been a first round draft pick, and he is still out there as we head into round two, as is t J. Clemens, a tackle from Pitt who could also move inside. There was a name l Collins, and we know what's happened there.
He was considered a person of quote interest in a murder case in Louis, Yanna, and it's a high risk proposition. I'm not saying there's any guilt there, but right now that it's enough cloudy, murky situation that a team has got to be very, very careful if they go on that direction, right lall Collins has said that if he is not drafted tonight rounds two or three, he will not sign a contract and will enter the two thousand and sixteen NFL Draft. So that is something certainly that
fareth watching. We're also going to keep our eyes on the way Chip Kelly kind of conducts himself tonight last night. Let the draft come to him. Will he be so patient in the second night of this draft, and will there be any veterans on the move? A lot to look forward to when the draft begins at seven pm. Already today, we've met Nelson Aguilar in person. He held a press conference with the Philadelphia media. Here's some of the best of Nelson Aguilar his first face to face
with the Philadelphia media. It always starts with the people. I mean, we have truly special people here, and staff and the players that they bring into this organization. And then you know, even the guys that work, you know, beneath the coaches. They're all really good people, and I felt like that's where I wanted to be. Honestly, it
was something I wanted for myself. I mean, I know they're gonna do what they have to do in terms of evaluating everybody, but when I got here, I kind of evaluated the way they did things, and I knew if I ended up in an organization, I wanted to resemble the way they do things. I felt like they're really genuine people. You know, starts with the head coach and Coach Bickle, receiver coach. You know, all those guys are truly special people and really genuine with the conversation,
how he went about meetings. You know, just every day felt good. And when Coach Bickle came down to work me out first, you know, we just got better. You know, it wasn't about me trying to show that I have all the answers. It was about him, you know, trying to put me through some movements and meet growing. There's a lot of excitement. Those guys are truly special people, just like players, you know, for them to think enough of me to reach out to me and very genuine
of them. And you know, they both made it very clear that's Josh and Matthews. They made it very clear that you know, they want me to come in and work with them and just get after it. And I think I'm in a blessed position to have those two guys with that type of mindset. You know. Now, you know, you know, you're in a comfortable position because this is the type person you are and you're dealing with people
with similar you know, wants. I got a chance to talk with Barkley for a little bit face to face. I got a text from Mark and Sam. Those definitely great people. I mean I knew Barkeley since freshman year at USC and I think those other two guys are truly special people. Also, it gives me another opportunity to affect the game. You know, three phases of football, offense, defense, and special teams. You know, if I have an opportunity to affect, you know, special teams outcome, then it's always
gonna be good. A remarkably impressive young man. I think we'd all agree with that, just as held himself with such poise in this well twenty hours since he's been a Philadelphia He hasn't met Harold Carmichael yet, but he's the kind of young man. But Harold carr Michael would be very proud to have. We're number seven, yeah, and we will find out a little bit more examine how
he fits into this Chip Kelly offensive scheme. When the fan cave section will go over there and talk to Bow and to Greg, We're also going to take a little trip down memory lane. Last year's second round produced Jordan Matthews, and Eagles wide receiver came in and had maybe the best rookie season for an Eagles wide receiver
in franchise history. But when we return to Eagles Draft Central presented by Deeton Watson, I had a chance to sit down with Nelson Aguilar trying to take a different approach. Let's try to get to meet the newest Philadelphia Eagle when we return in just one moment, we welcome you. We did the studio here at the Novicare Complex. Eagles insider Dave Spidero with Eagles number one draft pick wide receiver Nelson Aguilar, who's had just a whirlwind last twenty
four plus hours. Really, it's been months and months and months leading up to this. So my goal here, Nelson, because you've answered so many questions just to ask you questions to get to know Nelson Aguilar. You're ready, Yeah, all right, So let's talk about USC and your favorite class in USC on your communications major. A very interesting classes, great communications school. What'd you like the most about school? And tell me what you like the most, what class
in particular, and why started off the most. The thing that you know, I like the most about school was the fact that you know, in a major like communication, you would get different types of people. There wasn't just athlete piled classes. You got you know, the people in the Greek life. You got your everyday students. You know, you got some of the brighter kids in the campus
all in one class. You know, in terms of big lectures where there was open conversation, got to hear the way other people thought, and you know, it was pretty cool. In your life. Have you been one who's gone around in clicks? Are you one of the jocks, one of the brains? Are you one of the music What kind of clicks have you moved around with in your life? A melting pot. I like to deal with everybody. I like to pick everybody's brains. I love to have multiple
experiences if you had to. And maybe you've never experienced a snowstorm living and growing up in first in Nigeria, then in Florida, and then elt to California. Have you ever been in a snowstorm? And the way I have not? Oh, we've got something to look forward to this winter. So my question is going to be better day on the beach or in the mountains. It's clearly on the beach. Yeah, Okay, you'll find out. I haven't experienced the mountains. Okay, let's
talk about this. Your opinion of social media. You're a bright guy, Yeah, a young, bright guy. I think social media is a good platform for people to do some positive things. But I also feel like it's an opportunity for people to kind of humble, humble some people that are put on a you know, on a higher pedal stone away. I mean, in reality, you should already hope with yourself as a player, So you shouldn't feel like
anyone's attacking you because they're saying certain things. But you know, it could be used as an advantage, but it can also hurt some people if they use it own. Is it tough being an athlete knowing that fans can have this avenue that can be very damaging to people. I mean, it does what it has to do for me. I know who I am as a person. I know who I am as a player, and I make few promises
about you know, statistics or you know, expectations. I just I control the controllable, and I feel like I always want people to judge me off of controllable things, like my effort and preparation. Nelson, where does that confidence that maturity come from? Is that the way you were raised? That's why I was raised. And also, you know, my high school football coach kind of placed into me early making a transition from running back to wide receiver. How
that happened? It? Was it something that you were reluctantly done? I know you were a star, five star recruit out of Tampa as a running back. Was it difficult to make the trans just a wide receiver? It was another way to get the ball in your hands, you know. And I felt like it was great for me in terms of the business aspect of the game of football, because I mean, my body wasn't developing to too much as a running back body, so you know, I just had to make the most of what my body already,
you know, my body structure. Okay, let's talk about USC and the it's a huge or it's a great program. It's one of the most story programs in college football. Describe the feeling you had on a Saturday walking onto the field with the crowd, with the uniform on how special was it for you second to none walking into the college sum the night before a game, and the things we did and how we went about our business.
You know, we had special things that we did on a Friday before walked through, you know, and there are different coaches that did different things. One in particular is when you know when Ed ozerl was, you know he was there, he did a special thing on a Thursday afternoon before walk through. It just made you realize that,
you know, this is gonna be a special weekend. And then when you walk into the coliseum, you know, you see so many people think enough for you to be there and to chair for you and deals like that. It's it's surreal in many ways, and I felt like I was spoiled. I was very spoiled to have that, you know, And I only asked that, you know, I continue to have something very similar your first thought, that you can remember that you might possibly make it to
the NFL. Do you remember what age you were? I mean, for me, it was about you know, giving it my all. You know, you know they always say, you know, fight or die trying. You know, just that that was me. I just I would go give it everything I got and you know, if it was meant to be, it would be. And I felt like, you know, God favored me, and many people favored me to give me this opportunity. First autograph you signed, how old were you don't remember? It was? How long ago? Yeah? Is it special for
you still? When people ask you for an autograph, it comes down to people caring about you as a person. You know, it's one thing to be a good football player, but no one wants to have, you know, a piece of something to remind them of a bad person. So I hope people ask from my autograph because they know that I'm truly a good person outside of being a
football player. That's made a couple of plays. The things that you and I've talked about here in the day that we've known each other, you really do bring it back to being genuine with people, building relationships with people. That's very important to you, beyond the football part of it. It's important for you to be part of that kind of family here, isn't it. Let's put us all about I talk about controllable factors, you know, outside of the
things you can control in terms of football preparation. Every day you're given a choice to be a good person, and I feel like if you were to grade me on that, then I do a good job at that. Football starts this in a couple of days here. How excited are you to get on the field and start to dig into the playbook? Are you a playbook kind of guy? I love the playbook. I feel like that's a controlled by aspect. You know, you get an opportunity
to soak in a lot of knowledge. You know, just to be in the right place at the right time. You know, it's not even about making a catch. It's not even about being the fastest guy. It's about knowing where to be. Yeah, and I want to always be the guy that knows where to be. And what kind of indication is Chip giving you anything at all, any ideas what you might do here? Nor do I need one.
I just I asked for opportunity when the time comes, and then the chance to just progress, I mean, and He's already given me that by putting me in this locker room with these guys. Has today been You've had a press conference, You've met fans, You've You've done countless interviews. Has it been a fun day. It's been a great day. Yeah. To be here in my new home and meet the people that I've got to meet and the people that support our organization means a lot to me. Oh hey,
welcome Nelson. Great to have the institute here. We look forward to having you many times and enjoy the journey. Welcome to the NFL, Nelson Aguilar. On Philadelphia Eagles dot com. Spend the day with Eagles players and coaches at the Overcare Complex. Create unforgettable memories with your friends and family as you experienced a day in the life of ven Eagle's player. Eagles Academy for Women will be held Saturday, June sixth and Sunday, June seventh. Go to Philadelphia Eagles
dot com slash Women's Academy to get your tickets. Today we welcome you back to Eagles Draft Central Dave Spidero Eagles Insider, along with the voice of the Philadelphia Eagles, Merrill Reason. One year ago, Jordan Matthews was just a player from the fine football institution that is Vanderbilt and looking for a home in the NFL. We now know that he's a Philadelphia Eagle. Had a terrific year last year, sixty seven catches eight hundred and seventy two yards eight
touchdown as well. Prior to the Eagles selecting Matthews, the NFL network sent a camera crew to follow him around as he prepped for his big moment on stage. So I'm not dressed yet because I still got a couple of hours before, you know, no different than games. I don't like to get two jacked up for two raids too early, so I like to you know, start getting in the floor of things, you know, closer to game time.
So if I'm an approach today like a game, then I'm gonna start getting ready, you know, closer time comes, I want to be too flashy because I know a lot of guys are gonna be trying their hardest and everything I want to be go for a more classy looks. Got my soup Taylor from the Great Guys That top's the best folk. My man Raymond hooked me up one of my frat birds inside Red outside Navy, So it's
real solo right here. But what I'm really trying to do is like make the accessories kind of you know, jump off the outfit look on the inside right there exclusively Taylor Jay Matthews. So being a member of cop A Sour fraternity, you know, our cours are crimson and cream. My hat to make sure I feel a little bit of red. And at the same time, I wanted to give a shout out to the brothers, so this kind of for them and everything. Got had the bow tie.
All my Capital brothers out said, no, you're gonna be on stage, You're gonna have a big moment. You got it with a bow tie. You gotta represent the color as well. My dad and my brother both the members of the same fraternity, so they're gonna be out there bow ties too. So we're gonna kind of We're gonna kind of show off for our people in that aspect. My boy Kanye saying the song once, have you ever seen shoes with our shoes string? So had to give a shout out to him. You know, I didn't want
to go regular not feel good. I mean, it's just really a stepping stone to the next level. Once you get in an NFL locker room, nobody cares when you got drafted what around. It's aught about what you do on the food and how you produce. So you know, it's definitely gonna be a great day for me and my family. At the same time, I'm just looking forward to playing again. Well, we know how Jordan Matthews fit into the offense as a rookie pretty darn well. Yeah,
and very very comfortable with the media and mature beyonds hears. Yeah, he really is something special. We wonder how special Nelson Aguilar will be in this Chip Kelly offense. We toss it now to our fan cave Bo Wolf and Greg Cosell take a look at that. Well, thank you, Dave and Greg and I are back in our layer here in the film room and we're gonna take a look at some of the ways the Eagles will utilize first
round pick Nelson Aguilar in miss offense. And Greg chip Kelly does such a good job in terms of scheming wide receivers into space. Let's take a look at a few of the ways that he does. That will start
with the game last season against the Houston Texans. And the player to focus on here is the deep safety and how Nick Foles is able to read him to find out which receiver to go to exactly bo And normally, if you want to get the ball deep and we can just keep it here for a sack, if you want to get the ball deep, you somehow have to control and be to safety. And they do it here with a concept called a three level stretch. And it's too one side of the field. So here's Macklin, he's
going to run a vertical route. Here's Matthews. He's actually going to run a crosser across the field. That's the intermediate route. And then you have Sprowls in the backfield. He's going to cross the formation and be the short receiver to that side. So you have short, intermediate, vertical,
and you'll see how this plays out. As you let this run, you'll see right about now, if you freeze it, this safety, the deep safety we talked about that you pointed out earlier, he is now starting to react to Matthews on the intermediate crosser. So what you have is no deep safety over the top of Jeremy Macklin or
Nelson Aguilar who would take that spot. So as we let this go, you see that Macklin is able to run by the corner and you get a big play based on a three level stretch concept, which is a very significant part of the chip Kelly offense and interesting to hear chip Kelly say yesterday that in terms of the comparison between these two players, Aglar maybe not quite as explosive deep just yet in his career, but maybe more versatile intermediately in the intermediate areas than Macklin was
last season. But he can get on top of corners, and I think even Macklin maybe a little more explosive, but Aguilar will be able to do that in time. And here is Macklin once again the Aglar potential correct person here, and once again you're going to see them working on the safety, reading him and getting they do this totally differently. Here is the safety they need to control because Macklin is again going to run a vertical route a deep post, so you need this safety to
be under control, not to turn and run. So how do they do that? And this is where Chip Kelly is so good. And if you just run it a little bit, you'll see all kinds of action in the backfield. They have the bubble screen action to the left side. Right here, they have the back crossing the formation. So what you see now is this safety we talked about, where are his eyes. They're right in the backfield, and so what happens now is he's not looking at Macklin
right here. So Macklin is one on one running his post, similar as the play before, a deep post against an outside leverage corner with no safety in the middle of the field. And if you run it, you'll see that's exactly what happens, and a nice throw from Nick Folesen. What's also interesting about this is we can get a sense of the kinds of things that Sam Bradford will be able to do in this Eagles offense. The kinds of thraws he'll be asked him, Sam Cawn these throws.
He can make those throws, all right, let's move now two years ago. We'll see to Sean Jackson in the slot here, and this is what we call the mesh concept in the Eagles offense, and Nelson Agilars supposedly one of the better in terms of dynamic open fieldability after the catch, he'll be doing the kinds of things, and he had a lot of big plays in the slot at USC That's where he really made his bones as a big time receiver this past year. But this mesh
concept is very simple. It's great against man to man, which is being played here. You mentioned Jackson right here, here's Salek. What they're going to do is they're going to cross. It's really kind of a legal pick a rub element, as we like to say, a natural rub element. And as you let it go, you can see that very clearly, a great way to get the ball in the hands. Look at it right here. Totally illegal. But now Axon is going to be clean running across the field.
Think of Aguilar a punt returner doing the same thing, getting the ball in space, being able to turn it up feel you get a first down, you sustain in offense, that's the foundation of Chip Kelly's offense and that mesh concept is something we've seen an awful lot of against man to man coverage. All Right, the last players we want to look at is in the red zone. And you may not think that at only six feet tall,
Nelson Agilar is a big red zone threat. But in the Seagulls offense, the way that Chip Kelly will run screens down by the end zone, maybe he will be Well, this is scheme supremacy in the red zone, and a lot of teams now have gone to that trying to create their receivers open because it's harder in the red zone. So here's a great example. Here's Jeremy Macklin. He's actually
starting here. He's going to totally cross the formation. See if you'll look at this right now, you see in Macklin Richard Sherman matchup, which hey, you may not think is a great matchup, but watch what happens because of scheme supremacy here, Macklin is going to cross the formation cause confusion. Sherman points. You see right now, no one is running with Jeremy Macklin because Sherman has stayed right
here and they're playing man to man. So now no one is running with Macklin, and this would be Aguilar doing the same thing. And if you'll let the play run, you'll see it's an easy pitch and catch through the numbers game on the side exactly because there's no one with him. Great example of winning scheme wise in the red zone. And you'll see Aguilar part of all these concepts. And Chip Kelly will do his best, of course to scheme Nelson Agilar into open space for the Eagles in
twenty fifteen and beyond. That's what Nelson Agiler will bring to the Eagles. We are back with much more on the other side right here on Eagles Draft Central. Eagles Junior Pro Day is the ultimate experience for young Eagles fans and it's only a few weeks away. Kids ages five to twelve have their chance to run through football drills with Eagles players, meet Swoop, and check out the team's practice facility. Don't miss your chance to share this
great experience with the fans in your life. Go to Philadelphia Eagles dot com slash Junior Pro Day to get your tickets. Today it's Eagles Draft Central presented by Deeton Watton, Dave Spidero and Merrill Race. Time now to take a look at some of the best of the best offensive lineman still on the board, and to do so, we turn it over to Draft Insider dot Net Tony Pauline,
one of our draft insiders. If Eagle fans you're looking for offensive lineman on the second day of the NFL Draft, let's start off with Horonus Grosso of Oregon, a nasty mowler in the middle who helped protect Heisman trophe we win to Marcus Mariatta. Rossi was a perfect fit for the Eagle system. He's tough, he's strong, and he's very effective locking motion, getting out to the second level and
taking linebackers from the action. He's also a very good player now who could be a terrific offensive center down the road. Grosso's game is NFL ready, and it wouldn't surprise me if he's a starter early in his rookie career. Lael Collins Abella, he was a name to remember the left tackle for the Tigers, is an athletic player who can line up both guard or tackle in the NFL. He's big, he's physical, he plays with the nasty attitude, and he shows ability in both half protection as well
as run defense. I would expect Collins to quickly break into a starting lineup at the next level. Up next TJ. Clemings of Pittsburgh. A former defensive lineman. TJ. Clemings has done well the past two years on the offensive line, playing right tackle for Pittsburgh. He's a solid athlete with a great amount of upside, but he's also a player
that needs a lot of work. People are torn on whether he's going to stay at the tackle position or move inside to guard, but a team that's patient with him and helps develop his skills on the offensive line could have a very good player down the road. Marcus Mariotta's blindside protective of past two years, Jake Fisher, is one of the most underrated tackles in this year's draft. He did a great job at Oregon keeping Mariotta upright
against top competition. He showed well in the postseason, testing much better than expected at the combine than having a great protay workout. Fisher's a type of guy that will be a starter, likely from the first week of the NFL season. This year, as a red shirt freshman, donna Vin Smith looked like a dominant offensive left tackle for the Penn State Nitney line, but his game is leveled off. Teams will love his size, his athleticism, his strength, and
his versatility to play left the right tackle. They are concerned about his work ethic. He's likely a second round choice and if he's able to make football priority and do little things off the field as well as honor to make himself a better player, he will be a very good starting tackle in the NFL years to come. Boy small school prospect Allie mark Pett of Hobart is next. Hobart's Ali Mark Pett has been the raven the scouting world since the Senior Bowl, and why not. The Division
three prospect has done everything asked of him. He played multiple positions at Senior Bowl, doing a great job and pass protection against speedy edge rushers as well as handling Danny Shelton moved inside the guard. He's a terrific player who mentally understands the game and plays with terrific fundamentals. He's a potential second round choice and a guy that can line up at any of four positions on the
offensive line, including center. I would expect marpet to be a surprise rookie in the NFL come the twenty fifteen season. Though not the prettiest offensive lineman, Missouri's Mitch Morrise has consistently got the job done. He's big, he's surprisingly athletic, and he has the ability to pass protect as well as dominated as a rum blocker. He's a player who's very good now. He's got a decent amount of upside potential. He's a second day pick who could surprise at the
next level as a starter. West Virginia's Mark Lewinsky is next. Not too many offensive lineman this year's draft or as mean or nasty as Mark Lewinsky of West Virginia. He's a terrific pass protector in the West Virginia system that also showed himself to be a dominant rum blocker. He doesn't have a great upside, but his game is NFL ready and he'd be a solid pick for any team on the second day of the draft. The final second day offensive lineman will talk about as Utah's Jeremiah Potassi,
a left tackle for the Utah Uts. Potassi is a player who projects to guard at the next level. He's big, he's dominant, he's athletic, and he has the ability to play a multiple system. He shows stiffness in his game and many time before he's ready to take an NFL snap. But he's got a great amount of upside potential if the Eagles look to address the offensive mind during the second day of the draft. Those are the names to
remember rounds two and three. Tonight, seven minutes between picks in round two, five minutes between picks in round three, and Merrill, we know that there are a lot of talented players on the board. There are, so let's bring in Tony Pauline via Skype and talk about kind of the scene as we see it at the top of round two. Tony, the Eagles with the twentieth pick in round two. What do you expect here in the early
parts of the second round. I assume that Tony Pauline cannot hear me, so we will talk to Merrill Reese about that. Tony. We'll check back with you a little bit later on as we get into the draft. Merrill, we know that there were very few two trades. I believe in the first round yesterday, nothing in the top ten. Right, do we expect? You think that there's going to be
some movement if it's take this draft. I do, because teams have had overnight to scheme and see where they want to go and prepare, and they are zero ringing out on players. If I were to ask a question of Tony Pauline, you can ask me, well, I'll ask you, Okay, Tony, if is it conceivable that somebody like Eric Rowe could be there with the at the Eagles moving out of the fifty second pick or the twentieth pick and the second rouble. What is the likelihood Tony of Eric being there. Yes,
we're gonna find out. We'll find out very shortly as
Round two begins in Chicago in just one moment. And just to give you an idea of what's happening with our programming tonight, when the pick is in, when the Eagles pick is in, we will open up the stream and we'll be live Merrill and myself, Bow and Greg and our team here at an Overcare complex and we'll keep it live through the announcement of the selections for the Eagles and then the post period of the selection with Chip Keller's press conference, with the analysis that will
provide with the coverage of those selections. So we expect two picks Eagles have to Could there be some movements, some veterans who attracts some interest from other teams. Absolutely. Chip Kelly's made that clear that the Eagles are coming into this with open ears and open minds. And we've got a couple of wishes here. Offensive line, Meryl, offensive line and secondary. Those are the two, you know, Dave.
I think it's interesting to note that there are several players out there in this field right now who I think expected to be drafted somewhere in the first round. I don't think that's the case with Eric Rowe, but somebody like Landing Columns, land and Collins was considered the best all round safety in this draft, even if he wasn't fitting the Eagles system. Yeah, everyone had Landing College. Every mock draft I saw had Landing Columns in the first round. I just I don't see land and Collins.
Going back to what Edman who had said about him, he's more of an in the box safety. I don't think that that's someone You just don't see him landing here. I don't see him landing very good. All right, let's go out to New York City and talk to Tony Pauline from Draft Insiders dot Net. Tony, what do you expect here at the top of the second round. Oh, the surprise could be Sean Mannon, the quarterback from Oregon State.
I'm hearing that his people are pretty convinced that he's going to be not only the third quarterback off the board, but could be but could be selected before forty pick tonight, So that would be a bit of a surprise. Still some good talent on the offensive line available, still some receivers available, a lot of Pack ten prospects still out there. Let's talk about the idea of trades. Though we only saw two in the first round, Tony, what do you expect?
What kind of winds are blowing in that area? I mean, that's a variable you never really can get your thumb on. You never really have any idea. There's a lot of talent at the top, so I would expect that one there will be teams making calls to get up to get some of that talent. Jake Fisher, the offensive lineman from Oregon, Jalen Strong, the receiver from Arizona State, Eric Kendricks,
the linebacker from UCLA. The teams will be calling to may move up to get those guys, but they're probably gonna have to pay a premium in order to make that move. Yeah, and the Giants have just made a trade to move up to the top of the second round to get the first pick in round number two. You have a question, you can have Tony. Now, Okay, Tony, I have a question. I'm going to give you two names, that of Eric Rowe and that of Jake Fisher defensive back,
offensive lineman. What is the likelihood that the Eagles could remain at twenty in the second round and have one of those two available? Very slim. I highly doubt it. I mean maybe Fisher. And if it's Fisher is there, it's likely because he's had some injury concerns and red flags have popped up. I think Eric Row's going to be off the board by the middle part of round two. The latest Fisher is just too talented. He's he's an excellent offensive tackle, can play on the left or right side.
But he's had some injuries, so if he slides. That's the reason why. You know, we've talked about cornerbacker. Give me a couple of other names at cornerback, Tony, who are quality players, you know, coming as rookies and get some playing time and really fit what the Eagles are looking for. Tall press type cornerbacks. Good name one guy, run off the back. Quentin Rollins from Miami of Ohio, former basketball player, played four years on the Howardwood just
moved to the gridone. He basically fits that model, can also slide inside to safety. Played very well at cornerback. Really looked like he belonged. Didn't show bed instincts last year. Just needs some polish on his technique. He's got a great amount of upside. I think that's a guy that and he should be there when the Eagles selected late in the basically the bottom half of round two. Right Tony Pauline from New York City, mean, thank you very much.
Draft insiders dotting at the New York Giants all the clock to open round number two, and we're going to say see you later. We'll be back when the Eagles have turned in their pick at some point here in round number two. Eagles Draft Central presented by Dietson Watson for merrill reason Dave Spidero, and we'll be back shortly as the Eagles get ready for rounds two and three. This evening. You
